Came back after about a year to Bottle shock and we happened upon their 2 year anniversary of the new owners buying the business. It was a lively fun family party atmosphere. It seems like they have a lot more events happening like movie nights and live music and just lots of stuff. We enjoyed our glass of pinot noir and Tempranillo and they were giving out small slices of pizza as part of their anniversary so I munched on that. They offered us a glass of champagne too but we declined. We sat watching the football game on the tv and enjoyed our date. For the night we went, it definitely felt more like a party place, people were drinking a lot of beer, taking shots, etc. but not sure if that was just because of it being their anniversary. Chill wine and beer bar with a huge patio. They have a food truck on site most of the week with some pretty fantastic deals on pizza and apps. The pizza especially is such a huge value if you get it during happy hour prices (and well worth it even if you dont). Highly recommended! read more

I've been here a few times, the wine is okay for the most part, and the food trucks are really yummy. What really confuses me is how they advertise as a place to bring friends, family, and colleagues, yet you can't bring your children to their grassy area. When I arrived, I was rudely and aggressively approached about not allowing my child into the outdoor seating area. The bartender tried to shame me for bringing my child to a "bar". I understand he couldn't come inside, but the 8,000 square foot advertised grassy area doesn't make sense. This company should be much more clear that they ARE NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. Also, there are always red ants climbing all over the place. We won't be back! read more

I'm upset I never heard of this place sooner. Would have never thought Bakersfield would have one of these. Definitely needed to elevate the city. Nate and Shelby are the nicest people. Just their energy is enough to make us return. We spent most of our time just talking to them and having fun. We practically tried half their menu. Great wine selection! It's not all wine either. They even have margarita slushees! Make sure you take in the outside patio and play some cornhole. My party and I will 100% come back. Had a great experience vibing and enjoying live music while sipping on my wine margarita. My friend and I came in to support our friend that was playing and we sat outside in the seating area. Considering that it was summer time, it still felt very nice being outdoors as they have these mists all over the outdoor area to keep you cool. This place is darling! I loved the ambiance and charm of this beautiful wine tasting room. We choose to sit outside because the weather was perfect and not a mosquito in sight! The patio area is huge! Which means that social distancing is so easy to do here. They have a ton of beautiful space and lighting. It's definitely a great spot to meet friends or even a date. It's cozy and romantic. My companion ordered the wine flight which i regretted not getting after seeing the selection. Instead i ordered a glass of Merlot and a Pinot. Both delicious and yummy. Inside they have a huge selection of wines from central coast, which i love! I'd definitely hang out inside when that becomes an option. The bar is beautiful. Today Ruby and I met the most amazing mother/daughter team! Shelby and her mother Theresa opened Bottle Shock on 19th St in downtown Bakersfield two years ago. They have tons of events throughout the week, like paint night, live music, and even a comedy night! Their courtyard is dog friendly. Perfect spot for business meetings, to unwind with hubby or girlfriends after work, or for their monthly Sunday brunch! They have a wide selection of wines and ales, charcuterie boxes, panini sandwiches and other munchies and a great laid back atmosphere. Here on a Sunday afternoon, pretty slow but great energy. The owners are two young ladies with great personalities. It's tough to come downtown because of the the type of business and people that are here but when we are here it feels like we are somewhere else. I really hope that that Bakersfield continues to grow this type of establishments. The owners are a mother and daughter who welcomed us and made us feel comfortable right away. Pre-pandemic I was lamenting on the lack of outdoor spaces in Bakersfield. Places where friends and family could relax and hang out while enjoying some drinks and bites. As if by magic, Bottleshock appeared and fulfilled my sun-bathing & wine-sipping wishes! We recently visited Bottleshock and met up with some friends. It was the most perfect way to socially distant and still hang out. The weather, while in the 80s, was warm but entirely tolerable under their enormous umbrellas. It was quite busy on this Saturday afternoon but lucky for us, our friends had secured a nice place to sit in some comfy couches. The wine and beer selection (yes, that's right no cocktails - yet!) was great. Tons of local brands and even some new one's I've never heard of. Our friends suggested a rose and it was lovely. Nice and crisp on a warm day! For food, they had Radio Sandwich as a popup serving up some delicious sandos. We grabbed a Muffaletta to share - it was huge! Service was a but slow. And we had to take in our carafe of water for a refill, but they were quite obviously busy and short-staffed. No biggie. Looking forward to coming here again soon! read more

I love that downtown Bakersfield is gentrifying, and Bottleshock is a nice addition. A little more upscale wine bar. The wine selection is decent with a focus on California wines. The major issue I have is the reds are more or less served at room temperature. A wine bar should know better and have things at the right temperature. The place itself is nice. Tastefully decorated and a nice spot for a date. Parking outside is on the street, but not very difficult in that part of town in the evening. read more

This venue has small storefront most of it is outdoors which can be challenging to bear in the summertime Bakersfield heat! Not much shade, feels like you're in someone's big backyard. Saw this place on the news and wanted to give it a try. The inside is cute, similar to a lot of the revamped places downtown. The outside area is the real star. There is a huge outdoor area with a few seating areas for larger groups. Perfect for a Bakersfield summer night. I give it 3 stars for the wine selection. The bottles they feature all retail around $10 to $20, which they resell for $25 to $40. I understand a markup, that's to be expected, but at least they could mark up decent wine. The varietals are rather pedestrian too. Here's to hoping the wine menu gets a revamp too. read more

They have a great outdoor seating area. The people who work here are extremely friendly. I will note where we first sat down we were given a menu that only had a about 16-20 bottle on it. Ordered a bottle from that list but then realized they had a second list with more wine. Great, not huge name and interesting selection - the reason you go to a wine bar. Did not try the food, but it looked good. Looking forward to returning. There is tons of street parking and there are a number of restaurants near by if you are looking for a place to grab something after. Oh and they have misters.
