So based off the amount of NEGATIVE reviews about this Asian lady that works at the shop, how consistent, and how old some of them are, pretty much shows that the owner(s) don't care about customer service or quality of employees. They're all probably the best of friends or family. How unfortunate. So I did love this place for its inventory and atmosphere BUT whoever the Asian lady is that works here is the most unpleasant person I've ever met behind the counter at a tobacco shop. She was very snappy, irritated, and short with me in her responses. I tried to be friendly and just ask, "so how's your day going?" She snapped with a quick, "fine." Then when I asked about cutters, her body language and expression emphasized just how irritated she was that I was even talking. At checkout she made it very apparent that I was inconveniencing her. Pretty bad experience. I will also add that as a veteran, heavily involved within the veteran community I WILL BE DISCOURAGING EVERYONE I KNOW OR MEET TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF THE BEFORE MENTIONED LADY IS THERE! read more

This place is Pretty amazing, in my opinion it's probably the best cigar shop I've seen thus far in Bakersfield. It's beautiful , elegant and has that vintage feel to it with A great variety or selection. However the Cashier was very unpleasant, and unprofessional. I only asked maybe 3 questions throughout my visit and she seemed very irritated with my questions. I asked where I can find a Blondie Cigar because it was my first time there, I asked what was the best way to keep the cigars fresh because they were for a thanksgiving gathering and final if I could buy a humidity pack. Instead of showing me where the cigar was she pointed and I was lost. She was not attending anyone at the time either. Her demeanor was very negative and rude, i didn't want to asked anymore questions. I do not know her name but she seemed of Asian descent. This place would be a hit if she were to be properly retrained in Customer service, have a better attitude or to simply replace her. This place was easy to find despite their signage being only being an 'A' and an '&' at the time. They are updating their sign so we had to navigate a little construction work but made it inside without walking under the ladder. When we visited most of the seating was arranged in a horseshoe pattern and a lot of the seats were occupied. Miguel and Frankie from the Bakersfield Gentlemen cigar reviewers were seated among the group and acknowledged my presence but for the most part it was a quiet crowd. I found my way back to the walk-in humidor and made entry to start shopping for cigars that I haven't tried. A staff member met us in the humidor and introduced himself. I'm bad with names otherwise I'd mention it because he was a friendly, knowledgable and very helpful chap. Joe(?) gave me a tour of the humidor and pointed out some of the best sellers and some of his favorites based on my likes and preferences. I opted to go with a few of his recommendations and also selected several that I had been looking for. He went out of his way to look for a cigar that I was specifically hunting for but alas.. they were fresh out and will have them in later this week. I ended up buying 10 cigars and received a dollar off each because I bought two groups of 5. While checking out I perused their large selection of pipes and pipe tobacco. I know where to get some of the pipe tobacco that I've been drooling for. The seating looked comfortable and they had a TV or two to enjoy with the cigars. I was offered a cut and light but declined due to being short on time. Overall I liked the place and will stay for a cigar next time if time permits. I have been to this shop a couple of handfuls of times in the last 2 years. I have had one good experience here. For the majority of my visits there is a lady working who vould care less about customer service. Today I made it into the humidor, spoke with a few customers and was only acknowledged by the person working when I engaged them. On my visits I have been followed into the humidor and told I was pacing too much ( deciding between dirty rat and leaf by oscar) and had the cigars I had in my hand taken and held at the register. Today was the last straw for me. I asked to use the restroom, which as a "lounge" I'm convinced the people sitting and smoking are privy to and was denied because I had not yet purchased anything. With this particular associate, a Hawaiian looking lady possibly ( I vaguely remember discussing this with her on one of my numerous visits) I have been consistently left feeling like I don't fit the profile that deserves service. I arrived at cigars and more Sunday morning. I walked in there was a gentleman already watching tv smoking his cigar. The lady running the place at the moment said nothing to me no "hi" or "need help". I was in there looking for a special cigar that I can purchase to celebrate the birth of my son. I'm fairly new to cigars but really enjoy them. It was disappointing that I asked her questions and she seemed more new to things than I was and really rude. I walked around for a bit picked a few and left. I really love the place and the feel of it along with the wide variety of cigars. This is your best choice for a cigar in Bakersfield and it is probably the cleanest as well. I loved walking into the bay doors and seeing a whole row of Drew Estate and an eyeful of all the different Acids. The shopping.center is a little bit out of the way but for.Bakersfield depending on what your looking for everything is a little drive. The guy working in there was very helpful and knew where everything was that I asked about, even with the thousands of cigar choices in there. This is an amazing cigar shop! I'm new to smoking cigars and this place was overwhelming at first for a beginner. Once I did some research ONLINE it got easier. I had many questions walking in for the first time and the Asian woman that was working was no help at all. The typical "just buy this one" and rang me up with a nasty attitude and snatched the cigar from my hand. I had to go on YouTube and do my own research before going back. Every time I go there and she is working it is horrible customer service (snatching the cigars out of my hand rudely). Stopped in on Friday night to pick up a couple cigars on the way to a buddies house for a get together. I didn't really know what to get seeing as I am new to cigars but I knew enough to point the helpful clerk in the right direction. So today me and my girlfriend walked in to this store. I wanted to check it out as I always pass by it everyday to go home . So we walk in and first thing we saw was a older lady sitting in the chair that was in the middle of the store and was not greeted what so ever. So we started to look around and I seen a walk in humidor that had more of a selection of cigars. So I opened the door and walked in and then the lady said excuse me that's for members only. And I said oh I'm sorry what does it cost to be a member and she replied with I think it's 50$ a month. And that's all what was said during my 5 mins of being in there. She was very rude and seemed like she didn't know anything but just knew that she hated her job. To the owner of this establishment please take a double look at your employees and let them know to be more out going and try and sale the merchandise and be more informative about your memberships and products. read more

I went in today to grab some cigars this afternoon. Two guys were set up to record a review of some cigar. NOBODY said "hello", "welcome", they said NOTHING. Picked my cigars from a very well-stocked walk-in humidor, went to pay, still NOT ONE WORD! The clerk was obviously just that- a minimum-wage checker. This isn't the only cigar store in town, people! This place is the best place in town for a piper. I have been going here off and on for the last few years and the pipe tobacco selection in the past was sparse and the pipe selection was terrible Chinese junk. However, a few weeks ago I happened to swing by on lunch to check things out. I was greatly surprised to see a huge selection of bulk and tin pipe tobacco, and absolutely the best selection of pipes in the Bakersfield area. Most of the bulk looks to be Stokkebye and includes luxury navy flake and bulls eye. Pipes include Savinelli, Peterson, Comoy's and others. Well let's just say I've been there at least three times in the last couple weeks building up my tobacco cellar. Great, courteous and friendly staff. I can't say enough good things. Staying in Bakersfield on business when I found this cigar shop after doing an internet search. I have been a cigar smoker for 35 years. I travel for business around the world, and I always try and visit the local cigar shop. (Sorry review isn't about me but just wanted to explain that I have been to a lot of cigar shops and know a good one when I see one.) This shop is absolutely fantastic. For my tastes, probably the best shop I have ever been to. Looking for big brand cigars? They have them. Boutique cigars your thing? Have those too. Also offer most exclusive and limited edition cigars. The cigars are well maintained and prices were fair. Nice little smoking area up front. When I walked in I was warmly greeted by the employee in the shop and the patrons there having a smoke. I really wish this was my local shop. I can't say enough about their selection. The best I have ever seen in one single shop. My hats off to the owners. Now I just have to convince my wife to move to Bakersfield!! read more
