About a year and a half later I wanted to write an updated review here. Once I moved out of my studio I actually moved to the Lakeshore East neighborhood. Once I decided to move back to the West Loop, it was really a no brainier to move back into 180 North Jefferson. I definitely walked back in with my tail tucked between my legs, but I was welcomed back with open arms! I went with a larger unit a higher floor, and was also granted with some generous concessions. All of the staff are still as helpful as always, and as long as I am living in the west loop I will be at 180 North Jefferson, highly recommended! read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE. PICK LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. The management is terrible. We had a carbon monoxide scare last night. The carbon monoxide detectors were going off on multiple floors for over an hour. Maintenance was in and out of units and did nothing except to blame residents who were cooking food (lol that doesn't set off the carbon monoxide detector). Management did not inform residents what was happening and did not call 911. Multiple residents ended up calling 911, and the Fire Department told us that the levels of carbon monoxide in the building were very high (if you look on the Citizen app, you will see that it was 400 ppm in the boiler room and 150 ppm in at least one apartment unit). To be clear, firefighters were wearing GAS MASKS to enter the building. It was that bad. Has management provided any communication today re: building safety/follow up/whether anyone other than the staff maintenance has looked at the boiler that apparently tried to ignite and triggered the entire issue in the building? Nope. Did management answer any questions with any specificity while we were on the sidewalk at 1am? Nope. For your own safety, don't move here. read more

Oh. my. gosh. Just heard that the reason one of the elevators is out of service (2 of 3 are not working--so there's 1 working elevator for hundreds of people) is because the CABLE SNAPPED while residents were riding in it!!!! Now, things break, but the elevators have basically been "out of service" more often than they've been in service for years now. I have to add an additional 20 minutes to my morning commute time because I can't count on a working elevator (and I live on a high floor). Management sends out emails (after they get enough complaints, I am told) promising that repairs are in progress. Interestingly, no one I talk to there ever sees repairs in progress. For this most recent mess, the two elevators have been out of service for over a month, and repairs were promised last week. La la la la la... read more

I lived at 180 N Jefferson for 4 years and overall would recommend. Pros: The apartments are well-kept - I've never experienced any pest; maintenance is prompt and friendly; and the front-desk staff are the best part. Prior to the building being sold, the leasing office was super prompt. Now, they're not bad, but you might need to follow-up to get a response. At least they're kind, particularly Earnestine. Cons: I moved in 2021 when their apartment prices were more reasonable; now they are about the same as other West Loop apartments without the same level of amenities. I also experienced mold on my shower ceiling since there wasn't a typical shower vent in the bathroom. While maintenance addressed it, it did come back. read more

Do not move in here now. There is work currently being done to the facade of the entire building which starts around 8am Monday thru Friday and it is loud. It's been ongoing for close to 2-3 months. The grinding noise of the work reverberates throughout the walls and ceilings -- and with most of us having to work from home during the pandemic, the noise is distracting and unbearable. If your unit has a balcony as ours does, there's work being done to them as well, which we're now unable to use. I understand that by law, these inspections and maintenance need to be done, but they mention that we may not have access to our balcony for up to 1 month. Seems unfair to be paying for space that I'm unable to utilize. The rooftop, which is typically an amazing amenity space has been rendered unusable due to all of the construction rigs hanging off the roof of the building. With the nicer weather, this would typically be the time to use the two grills on the roof and get out of our apartments or sit on our balcony. Both of which we can't do now. The new management is trying to play catch-up to all of the newer buildings in the area but at the expense of the renters that are currently living here. I totally understand the need for a building to be maintained, but it's not what I signed up for when I signed my lease. Seems unfair to pay the same monthly rate every month but for a building that is constantly under revovation and taking amenities away. When the gym was moved and remodeled, we were all under the assumption that all the equipment would be new but that was not the case. Just old equipment moved downstairs. Dumbells have since gone missing and not replaced and one of the weight benches has been broken for months. I'll update this post hopefully when things get better, but we might also finally move out of here to greener pastures. read more

We've lived in quite a few complexes the 3 years and this is by far one of our favorites! Location wise, you can't get any better. Steps away from CTA, Starbucks, French Market, Jewel Osco, Pure Barre, etc. The complex is pet friendly and quite a few residents have dogs (always brightens my day to share an elevator with a doggo!). Everyone on staff is really excellent. Concierge is really kind, leasing is responsive, and maintenance is on top of all requests (the have come up 20 mins after putting in a request, whaaat?!). We moved in Fall 2017, when they started a lot of major renovations which sometimes was a bummer for someone who WFH. They are finishing up a lot of these projects so it shouldn't be a problem moving forward. Also, there is a good amount of street noise, especially east facing apartments. However, these little cons are outweighed by everything else! read more

In all of the places I've lived in this has to be my favorite. I've lived here going on 2 years and I don't want to move! The location is super convenient as it is close to the expressway, public transportation and accessible to Ride-share and cab companies. It is close to 3 major grocery stores as well as walking-distance to the popular restaurants. The staff is by far friendly and helpful - I'm extremely grateful for that. The doormen and women are always a pleasure to talk to and the maintenance staff is super reliable. I also appreciate the events 180 offers. Moved out around a year ago due to my expanding family, but my wife and I constantly talk about how we miss this place! This was the second apartment that i rented in West Loop. Highly recommend living here compared to one of the large neighboring establishments down the street. The unit itself - modern and clean. Rent when we were there was at/slightly below the going rate in west loop. Maintenance crew was always helpful and respectful of our preferences (ie wearing shoe covers). Pet friendly building. Walls and floors are very sound proof - didn't hear our neighbors at all. Elevators were quick - a few minutes wait at most. Location - the East most point of west loop. Just close enough to Randolph street and Fulton market that you can walk to all the hot spots, but just far enough to escape home from all the crowds. Being immediately adjacent to the green line was a concern of ours, but the sound proofing is decent. We stopped noticing the trains after awhile. Amenities - in unit washer and dryer, newly renovated gym, ATT U-verse internet and television, roof top with an excellent view of downtown, coffee machine in the lobby, friendly 24 hour doormen/women and 24 hour package pick up service. No complaints here! Management - responsive, kind, and reasonable. Excellent customer service skills. I don't remember everyone's name at this point, but Jenny and Cody were very pleasant to work with. Highly recommend living here! read more

I lived here for over a year when I first moved to Chicago. The doormen were great. Though the building featured a fitness center and jacuzzi - the jacuzzi was for all intense purposes - unusable - it was like sitting in Clorox. Numerous complaints were sent in, but nothing ever changed. My issue with management was that I had to move out early and was trying to find someone to sublet - or else I would have to pay $3000 in early termination fee. I talked to a girl in the office one day who said it would probably be fine since they had a waiting list and I could probably easily sublet my apartment. She also said if I couldn't sublet it, it would only be a one month termination charge ($1500 - yes, for a 1-BR apt). That was the last time I saw her or spoke to her. When it came down to time to move, I had not found someone I trusted to sublet the apartment. The new face in the manager's office told me there was no one on the waiting list who wanted a 1BR and that I would have to pay the $3000 fee to break my lease. Which I did of course, because I didn't want my credit ruined. About a month after I moved out, I received a bill from the Internet service company charging me a "setup fee". I called them and it turned out someone moved into my old apartment within days of me moving out. This is what makes me question the integrity and honesty of management at 180 N. Jefferson. If I had to look for an apartment again, I would NOT rent there - too expensive, too loud (right next to the green/pink lines off Lake) and management is not trustworthy. There was work done by the city on Jefferson street for several months. After that my washer/dryer started to smell like stagnant water. I informed management who said they didn't smell it, of course. I had numerous friends come and they said it was a horrible smell like possibly sewer water was coming up through the pipes. Jefferson street as a whole has pretty much had that God-awful odor ever since the work was done. If you like the sound of the El every 5 minutes, getting lied to and screwed out of several thousand dollars and the smell of sewer, this is the place for you! read more

I have been staying here for less than half year, but overall enjoy my experience. Location and Neighborhood: I like the location of still being in downtown but not in the middle of endless skyscrapers. A nail spa downstairs, and Starbucks right across the street. 1 minute's walking to Pink/ Green line, avec and Blackbird, 2 minutes' to French market and Ogilvie station, Jewel Osco, 5 minutes' to the river, Girl & the Goat and other restaurants on Randolph St. 8 minutes' to Mariano's, and there's another Whole Foods opening in 2015 which is about 7 minutes' walking away. Basically, I can walk to anywhere in downtown (20 minutes to Nordstrom, Macy's State Street, 35 minutes to Navy Pier). Sometimes surrounded by the alluring smell of chocolate from the chocolate factory. It's a good starting point for me as I moved to Chicago for the first time. Building: It's a relatively new building, and quite energy efficient. Without turning on heat, the room is a relatively comfortable 70 degree while it's 23-40 degree outside. I rarely hear noise from the next door. The carpet in common area is good-looking. I've visited some other (older) highrises in the loop, and friends said this building looks more high-end. The lobby is ok. Holiday decorations are very cute - I'm surprised! The biggest disadvantage is the noise of the pink/ green line. It's ok when I sleep late; otherwise, I'd need earplug. Sometimes I wish it could be quieter while sleeping, reading, or having a call. Amenities: The rooftop view is stunning! That's how this building stands out to me emotionally when I looked at 4-5 buildings in a day. I love taking friends and out-of-town visitors here for the city skyline. There are quite a few groups here on a Saturday night in summer. I only hope the summer is longer. Fitness center, complimentary group fitness class, and hot tub is awesome. I hope I could take advantage of them more often. Floor Plan: The 665-sq. ft. convertible is a great floor plan. The living room is very big, and the island in the kitchen almost eliminates the need of a dining table as I live alone, which makes the living room even more spacious so that it can easily fit in a desk, a bookcase, besides a TV stand, a coffee table, a side table, and a sofa. There's a walk-in closet which is a must for girls. I wish the sleeping area could be larger (if I want to fit in a chest, nightstand, and a vanity set besides a bed, I can only put a full-size bed instead of queen-size). The layout of the living room makes it difficult to fit in a TV larger than 47 inch. But it is still a great value, compared with other convertible or even one bedroom floor plans in other buildings nearby, or even other convertible floorplans in this building. Apartment/ Utility: It's not hardwood floor. The carpet is not as plush as it was in my last apartment. There is no ventilator in bathroom, and the bathroom is far away from the window, so the bathroom is humid and shower curtain liner is easier to mold. The kitchen/ bathroom cabinet is in maple instead of white in the model room/ website. Washer/ dryer in every unit, which is a must for me. Utility package is a great value. $55/ month for convertible (more for 1/2/3 bedrooms) includes water, heat, at&t internet and TV package). I cannot even get internet and TV for that price. The TV package includes HBO. So when I compared apartments, all these numbers count, as some other seemingly cheaper ones might not be cheap if taking everything into consideration. Community/ Safety: This is one of the most important reasons why I chose here. I feel very safe here given the 24-hour doorman and nice residents. It's not a big community so doormans know everybody (which I guess would not be the case in the 2000-apartment community nearby). The residents here are diverse and all nice people. Some students, mostly professionals. Those who I meet in the elevator and parties organized by the management office make me feel safe and warm. Doorman/ Service: Doormans are awesome. The weekday day shift guy is very professional and greets everyone by their names. The weekday evening shift girl is very helpful with all the requests (taking packages, borrowing shopping carts/ luggage carts), and is willing to go an extra mile. They both can remember residents' apartment number, so I just need to show my face when taking packages. The weekday night shift guy is also helpful. They receive packages, and take outgoing packages, which makes purchasing online and returning goods very easy. They also help book cabs or turn on the cab light. Recently Mobile Doorman App was rolled out. Functionalities include subscribed email notification on packages, maintenance requests etc. Management/ Maintenance: The management is professional and courteous. They respond to emails timely. The maintenance team responds to requests on a timely manner, and are willing to help. The only complaint is sometimes I can hardly understand their accent. read more

I lived here when the building was brand new in 2004-2005. It did not come without many, many issues. The ammenities are OK. Basic DirectTV is included in the cost of your rent (it's not free, you do pay for it), and despite the fact they advertised it as being HDTV capable, it wasn't. It took about 2 months to get the DirectTV service activated. They outsource it to a company that then outsources it to another company. It was a real hassle that involved writing several nasty faxes (phone calls weren't working) and letters until one day it worked. Then a week later it broke, and it took another good two weeks to get a new receiver. The doormen don't actually open the door, and I'm not certain they provide any real security either. The ones that were there when I was would just sit and flirt with all the girls. At Christmas time, they tried to make everyone who didn't give the doormen presents guilty. They published a list of those who did donate presents, how tacky! The "hemisphere club" fitness center consisted of about 10 pieces of equipment, and at the wrong time you'd have to wait and wait and wait to get anything. The jacuzzi spa was nice, but I never liked that they have cameras pointing right at it.. The outdoor deck would get locked most of the year. The building design is a bit funky in that if you're in one of the units where the windows jut out further than the unit next to you, your neighbors next door can see right into your place (and even though you probably don't realize it, they can actually see in your entire unit due to the window being reflective)... The bike room is stupid. You have to take your bike through the main lobby, walk around a maze of doors, go into the parking garage, and into the room to lock up your bike. The finishes themselves in the building are fairly shoddy. The carpet is the cheapest crap they could find, and after 1 month it looked like it was 6 years old. We had to clean it when we left. The walls were painted but not primed, so if you even bumped into the paint there would be a mark. Every little mark would show, and if you tried to wash or wipe it off the paint would actually disappear and you'd see drywall paper. Their solution to this aweful mess was to provide tenants with a jar of touchup paint. The problem was you could easily tell the areas that were touched up. We had to repaint when we left. At move in, move out, they schedule a meager 45 or 1 hour window to get your entire apartment moved. We had a 2 bedroom and received the same time allotment a studio would get. This, of course is impossible to do, so moving in/out was uber annoying, and will end up costing you more money if you're paying for movers. The building manager --who is still the same person there now-- was often slow to respond to things. It took me 6 months or so to get my security deposit on my cable modem back. I had to write at least 4 or 5 letters before one day I got it. If your neighbors smoked, you could smell it. We lived there when they were giving a free month rent on every year lease, so it made the price more reasonable. This is good, since this building isn't worth their "asking" price. Views eastward towards the river were fantastic, though. read more

The kitchens are modern and I love the flooring they chose. I am in the convertible and the floor plan is awesome. The living room is super spacious and I have a great view of the Sears Tower!(I will never call it Willis!) We loved living at 180 N. Jefferson. We rented a convertible unit, which was comparable in size to others available in the city. The floor plan was a nice utilization of the space, however. The rent included all of our utilities aside from electric (so DirecTV, Internet, water, trash, etc.), which was nice! Also included a washer and dryer in the unit. We liked having the doorman to help with the door, receive packages, or just have conversation with. The building has great features like a business center, party room, workout facility, hot tub, library. At times it felt like living in a hotel vs. an apartment building. The location is great. Within walking distance of Randolph St. entertainment, Greek town, downtown for work. And right next to the Clinton Pink/Green line stops. The management was always easy to reach, very responsive and all around great. I'd give 4 vs. 5 stars just because of the cost, though I suppose that it's competitively priced for the area. We moved to the suburbs to get more space for our money when we decided to buy, but I'd highly recommend 180 N Jefferson to anyone looking for a place to live. read more

Been living here for a few months now. Nice size apartment (750 square feet) with marble countertops, washer/dryer in unit, free DirecTV, free internet (included in rent). The marble countertops are nice. The washer/dryer unit is the best feature of the apartment next to continous hot water/great water pressure in the shower. The w/d is in great shape and well maintained. The DirecTV Tifaux is an additional fee as well as premium channels. We had great service with the outsourced company who set up our DirecTV. They were knowledgable and prompt. The internet is okay. It's fast during the daytime, but sluggish at night. The new management company is addressing the problem. Other features include workout facility, conference and party rooms and 24 hour doorman. The workout facility is small, but has the basic equipment. It is rarely ever full and you can workout at all hours of the day. I haven't used the wave pool, but the jacuzzi is very nice. My experience has been great so far. The doorman are extremely nice and so helpful especially when you've got a load of groceries from the nearby Dominick's. Also, my apartment has a painted accent wall which is part of the rental agreement. The view on the 28th floor is very nice. This luxury apartment building is great for me because I'm only four blocks away from work and can walk there everyday. read more

I've been a resident at 180 North for 3 years and my time here has been awesome! I could not recommend this apartment any more to anyone looking for a spot in the West Loop/Fulton Market area! Building/Amenities: Building is pretty new and the management keeps it very clean and up-to-date. The rooftop deck is by far the standout - great views, lounge chairs, tables/chair, and community sized grills to use! On the top floor is also a pretty decent fitness center (~ 9 cardio machines, free weights, mats, & some weight machines) as well as a hot tub! Free coffee in the lobby is another big plus as well! Unit: I'm in a convertible studio (basically a 1 bedroom without a bedroom door - fits a queen bed) and it definitely spacious enough for 1 person. Love the washer/dryer in unit as well as my huge walk-in closet. Appliances are all new and I've had no problems with them at all! Location and Neighborhood: Great spot that's close enough to the Loop/River North, but a little quieter. Super convenient to have Dunkin Donuts & Starbucks right outside. Also, walking distance to Jewel or the Walmart Neighborhood market - there's also Whole Foods and Mariano's a little further away on Halstead. The real highlight is living next to Randolph Street and all the great restaurants that continue to be opened in the area. Lastly, Jefferson Tap is a neighborhood bar down the street which is clutch for quick takeout or a place to watch some games! Staff: Management, maintenance, and the doormen/women are all SO friendly! They really get to know the residents and make you feel really welcome! I've only had minimal maintenance issues in my apartment, but they have all been resolved within 24 hours as well. Overall, a great place to live! A+++ read more

Lobby/Common areas: Door person on duty around the clock, helpful, and checks in packages for you:) You can tell apt management/staff take pride in this building! Beautiful decor with fresh flower arrangements and classy, holiday decorations beginning in November including lights in the trees outside the building! Apartments/Amenities: Very up to date (our apt was completely renovated before we moved in), helpful maintenance for work orders including free carpet cleaning once each year, gorgeous view (the higher the better!!), super convenient FITNESS CENTER on the top floor and HOT TUB and doors opening to go out on the roof outside. Fun to take friends and family for the best view in town of the river, Sears tower, etc. Cable/internet included in utilities package at an awesome rate. Location: Starbucks is across the street, restaurants and casual dining all over nearby, post office and Walmart/Jewel walking distance, and the EL is right out your door (we got rid of our car!). I've been here 1.5 years now. Management and doormen (Richard you da best!) are top notch - usually in bigger buildings like this, at least in Chicago, the tenants make the trade off of nice digs for rude, impersonal service. That or end up paying close to NYC/LA prices - but that is not the case here. I spend a lot of time at a friend's place in a comparable location/price point just a few blocks away and this wins hands down. This place really is quite similar to what you see in the pictures, again speaking to the quality of the management, custodial staff and doormen who really run a tight ship. Great location near the metra and hwy, French market and marianos down the street. Halsted bus to get up north is a quick walk and randolph row is in close proximity. read more

We love living here! The concierges and maintenance staff are always incredibly hospitable and accommodating. The building is dog-friendly, and the tenants and their dogs are very friendly. The new common spaces are gorgeous, and our unit has gorgeous views and floor-to-ceiling windows. I lived here from 2007 until 2012. We had a 2 bed/1 bath for about $2250 per month. Of course, the market rent on that particular apartment has gone significantly up throughout the years for new renters, but the aforementioned amount was for 2012 as we endured an annual 8% increase in our rent for 5 years. I thought this was actually reasonable given we had an ideal unit with awesome views. Pros: Fast-acting maintenance team Rooftop Fantastic eastward views of the river (if you're so lucky) Awesome and helpful doormen Attached garage parking (additional $215 per month) Cons: D&K Management D&K Management D&K Management (did I mention D&K Management?) If you'd rather not read the particular beef I had with management, then skip the next paragraph. I've had absolutely no significant problems here until August 2011 when a teenager (19 y/o) moved in next door whose lawyer parents in NYC paid her rent to get her away from them. I clearly know why now. She smoked so much pot that it fogged up the entire hallway. She also played music extremely loudly at 2 am several times per week (seemed to coincide when the bars let out) and would pound on my wall (which was adjacent to her studio apt) when she was drunk and yell out explicitives. She also would often run up and down the hallway screaming "I'm not a fucking idiot! I hate all you fuckers!" in the middle of the night. Now, I'm a pretty patient gal and can tolerate most of this crap on the weekends, but this occurred mainly during weeknights. I called the police on her over 20 times (not an exaggeration) in a 2-month period, and the police couldn't do anything about it, because although they could clearly see the fog and smell the pot, they didn't see the weed which is crucial for arrest. They also felt that arresting her would get them in more trouble if something were to happen to her in jail (i.e. some guy molests her or something -- seriously, that was the example I was given). As for the noise, she would turn down the music temporarily, and then would turn it back up again when the cops left. After two-months' worth of cop calls with simultaneously alerting management via email with police encounter numbers for proof, I had to have my first sit-down with management in October 2011. They informed me that I was not the only tenant with an issue with this girl, and they were actually already in the process of evicting her. I was told she would be gone by December 2011. After four excruciating months of enduring the same behavior from this girl, December 2011 came, and she was still living there. I inquired about this with management, and I was informed that her final move out date was now February 1, 2012 since she had horrible credit and couldn't find a place to transfer. Well, that date came and she was still there. Actually, her eviction date kept getting "pushed" because management finally admitted to me they were concerned of litigation with her NYC lawyer parents. Thus, she did not move out until May 2012. Due to the multiple promises from management that she was out in "just a few more days/weeks", I ended up enduring this for the entire term of my lease (I left June 2012) . I was trying to be patient and cooperate with management, but that definitely backfired. I should have moved out immediately. Overall, I was really disgusted with management (especially Bill) for lying to me the entire time about her move out in an effort to placate my complaints. I've never had an issue with an apartment complex before in my life, and I thought this issue was quite valid, and all they did was brush me off. It made the last year living there absolutely miserable and left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, this is a great place to live if you have decent neighbors. If you don't, good luck. Management doesn't give a shit. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to this building in March of 2009 so he could be close to the Metra. I have to say, we absolutely love it. It's a great building with great management. The doormen are always there when you need them and maintenance is always there when you call on them. It's quiet and the roof deck is the best view anyone could ask for. Close to Randolph Street dining, French Market, and all transportation. I would recommend this building to anyone. read more

We were visiting friends who live here. My wife and I were impressed with how clean the common areas were. The security at the front desk was paying attention to who was coming and going. You don't get past without a residents pass card. The elevators were quick and clean. Parking was easy to get to. Minutes from the L so it was a breeze to get whereever we wanted to go. Starbucks in the lobby AND across the street. (Wife was very happy about that) Dunkin Doughnuts a half block away. Quite a nice place. Sound proofing is excellent. I never heard a neighbor other than from the hallway. And this was during March madness where I expected to hear cheering during the basketball games. Silent. I was impressed. read more

I really can't say enough nice things about the community thus far. I would say the only feedback was that it would be nice to have a more communal rooftop area, but it seems as though you're a few steps ahead. In the fitness center, it'd be great if there was an olympic rack for squating, but it hasn't really been an issue as I've taken to learning how to use the kettlebells for a lower body workout. The staff is friendly and approachable. Common areas are always clean. The neighborhood is great, steps away from likely the best neighborhood for restaurants in the city. If you could just entice a dry cleaner to take over retail space in the building, I'd have nothing left to say. read more

We have been living here since July 2014 and could not be happier. The building is beautiful and well maintained. The management office is well run, with friendly staff members who respond quickly to emails. Additionally, all of the door staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Our specific apartment is a 1 bedroom that is updated. The in-unit washer dryer works very well and we have a lot of natural light from the floor to ceiling windows. The appliances in the unit work well. The only missing aspect is a garbage disposal; however, with a trash shoot on each floor it has not been an issue. Absolutely love having a fitness center on the top, especially with a 2x/week bootcamp class that is complimentary to tenants. The rooftop deck is beautiful and with the patio seating it is easy to enjoy the views of the city. The building has a convenient location to the EL and is connected to a parking garage for our car. read more

The building came under new management/owners about a year ago. I have been quite miserable since. They began remodeling empty apartments without any warning to those who live in the building. Daily hammering, fumes, dust , and equipment/tools stored in the common hallway became the standard order of the day. Our amenities such as the library and business center were not available for several months while they redecorated. No apologies, no compensation. The new owners business also deals with condo conversions so I'm a little concerned about their motivation to spend so much on a building that is only a few years old. The only expense they did manage to spare was not bothering to replace worn treadmills that pound the floor as you run on them. They aren't the nice ones with the TV screens that you see in other buildings. Apartments on the floor below the rooftop gym can hear when people run. They don't seem to believe this is possible. There is only one doorman here who actually does his job and his name is Richard. He will actually open doors, help you with your groceries, take care of noise complaints (yes there are some "students " who behave like they are in a college dorm) The other door people hang out outside smoking or socializing with residents at the desk or are found sleeping late at night at the desk. I'm not so sure about safety either since in the fall of 2006 5 apartments were broken into around 10am on a weekday, All of the doors were kicked in and all were on the same floor. Luckily no none was harmed but a lot of personal electronics etc.. were stolen and the guy got away. Noise from the train is a serious issue. Naturally you train yourself to "get used to it" but it will nevertheless affect you, whether it be your poor quality of sleep or the sound of a chain saw at 2am. Yes the CTA likes to work on the tracks at all hours of the night and yes they have used a chain saw on the wood tracks. The apartment itself is ok, poor quality carpet though. You can hear your neighbors stereo and TV along with "late night activities" of course it all depends the neighbor. Management seems a little inexperienced. They have issues with communication and respecting the fact that you are paying for a service They never follow-up and never seem to answer their phone when you need to speak to them but if you go to their office you will find them sitting at their desk. Would not recommend, not worth the high price. read more

I have been living at 180 N Jefferson since August and I love it! It shows how great this apartment is when I moved from a 2/2 with over 1000 sq ft to a convertible apartment with a little over 600 and I still love it. I live here with my boyfriend and even though the apartment is small, it is a good floor plan so it seems larger than it really is. I love the wood floors and our appliances and granite countertops are great. The staff is so friendly and there is always a building get together or some kind of deal going on for residents (ex: discounted movie tickets). Even though there are a lot of younger people that live here, my boyfriend is in law school and we have never been bothered by noise. There is an occasional party every once in awhile but we have never heard any loud noise past 11pm. The workout room is great and the outdoor deck is a lot of fun. These apartments are also in a great location and an up and coming neighborhood with tons of great restaurants to choose from. 180 N Jefferson is a great apartment to choose and I haven't found anything in the city with such great amenities (most utilities included and a washer/dryer in the apartment) at such reasonable costs. I am a very picky person when it comes to apartments so if I am happy here, anyone will be! read more

I've lived here for about six months now and want out!!! I've lived at atleast 5 other apartment complexes in the area within the last few years and to say the least it's probably the worst yet. The apartment itself is decent..nice size and nice kitchen w an in-unit washer/dryer, but everything else overshadows anything positive to say about the place. First of all, if I were to hold a match to the windows, it would blow out from all the air that filters in, plus w the fact that the building sits next to the L, you can't even hear the tv w the sound maxed out when a train blazes by. And forget about sleeping altogether w the trains!!! The fitness center is a joke with only two treadmills in which one has been broken for the last two months. With numerous calls to management to get it fixed it still remains "out of service". I've tried to get out of here but they want $5500 to break the lease. Yeah right!!! So I have to suffer till the lease is over and hopefully this review saves you the nightmare. read more
