More horrific than anything, is the fact that he has a cast (I'm leaving this to imagination, it's Buford Highway people.) of folks working for him who never knew what my interest rate or payment amount was. In November 2021, I was asked by the sister of my dearest friend (her only heir), if I would take charge of my friend's final affairs. My friend and her husband both became fatalities of the pandemic on their cross country drive back to Marietta from an antique car show. I have a strong background in administration, and over 30 years in real estate in Maryland. There were no children from the marriage to handle this task, so I have managed the estates long distance with the incredible assistance of special friends in Marietta plus an attorney. I fired the first attorney. It has taken 3 1/2 years to wade through the courts, so I am now the estate administrator for the husband as well as the wife -- two separate estates. At the beginning of this process, I was fortunate to be given the name of Lisa Malvea of Caring Transitions of Roswell and Buckhead. My friends traveled extensively, and had numerous collections: automobile memorabilia, accessories, parts, and tools; fine jewelry and watches; antiques; music boxes; vintage clothing; home decorations for all holidays; and more. The house was a virtual treasure trove. Services provided. Lisa Malvea did an initial tour of the house and discussed what services we might need to utilize. Her services and adaptability have far surpassed my expectations. 1. The entire house was inventoried for sellable items, and family items were separated out. Donations of useful non sellable items were made to charitable organizations. A review of the house was made prior to being inventoried to search for legal paperwork by myself and people helping me. We identified several things that were missing in the way of critical paperwork, heirlooms, and military awards, and the Caring Transitions team looked for those items as they worked their way through the house. 2. A whole house clean out was done as auction items were divided into lots. A dumpster was brought in to carry away unusable items including old shelves from the workshop and mattresses, which are not sellable. 3. Auction items were extensively marketed, and the execution of the online auction with the choice of mail or shipping of items was nothing short of amazing. (650+ lots) 4. Coordination with other service personnel working on the estate at various times was seamless. Caring Transitions did a full top to bottom professional house cleaning of the house including rug shampooing in preparation for the house sale. 5. Guns were evaluated and sold in accordance with laws of the state of Georgia. 6. Packing and shipping services were provided to family members with all fragile items arriving intact. Specialty shipping included a Tiffany style customized stained glass piece with the dimensions of approximately 4' x 5'! 7. Recycling was done wherever possible. 8. Warehouse storage services were available as needed. 9. Communications were always clear. Inquiries were always addressed promptly. Respect was always shown in regard to the deceased homeowners. Each situation is different for the Caring Transitions Team. At every turn they have been there to tackle whatever I needed. I could not have completed this task without them!!

The phrase on their marketing material "We help families through major life transitions, so families can focus on what matters most, a stress -free experience" was anything but true. Their process caused me much more stress than another moving company would have caused. As one example of many, without being warned about the process of sorting and filming, they turned my house into a chaotic mess that I had to live with for two weeks. They moved all the furniture around even if was not part of the on-line auction. They cared more about their convenience than mine. They put torn pieces of paper on all the furniture with little pieces of tape and used liquor boxes to box up items that would be picked up after the sale and left them sitting around for two weeks as well. I was promised a Space Plan that never was delivered to me. I would have been better off donating the items I did not want moved to charity and taking the tax write-off. The on-line auction netted Caring Transitions $6,045.49. After all of their fees, the amount due to me was $322.75. I received moving quotes from five other companies and the estimates ranged from $4,474.50 to $6,350.00. I paid the mover used by Caring Transitions a total of $8,667.50. I paid Caring Transitions a total of $6,336.50 to clean out the house. The service they provided was not worth half that amount.
