We were out on the bike and stoped in at the FOE in Loudonville and the bar maid recommended this place . So we headed on down at first glance it looks like a dive bar and when you walk in it is , It was exactly what we were looking for. Outside area was packed with OSU fans waiting for the game to start so we found a table inside then moved to the bar . The service was fast and the staff was super efficient and fun to interact with. We split a burger and wings also the fried pickle spears were amazing. All of the food was delicious and fast out of the kitchen . Prices were very reasonable. This place is on our list for next summer rides.

Love the mushroom burger, it is my staple here. On tap microbrews are also very good. Service is better at the bar, meh at the tables. It's a dive bar, but a good one. Also don't recommend the tall tables. Chairs are slippery! Hate having to keep trying to 'perch'. Overall good food at a reasonable price.

I have definitely been to a few "dive bars" and I would have to say this has to rank right up there with the best of them. Four of us showed up and fortunately 2 of us knew some of the people there. This is without a doubt a very local watering hole with a bunch, if not all locals. That being said I would not say that was a bad thing. It's kind of a small place and pretty much wall to wall or shoulder to shoulder. It certainly seemed as though everybody knew each other. There were 2 bartenders that that never had a chance to breath, because it was one drink after another. I don't know how, but we landed 4 seats at the bar to start and sat there for about an hour and then drifted to a table. While at the bar we had 3 appetizers. Onions rings, pepper jack fried cheese balls and my favorite fried chicken livers (very crispy and good). At the table we ordered "dinner". I had fried bologna!!!, and there were 2 cheese burgers and a chicken sandwich, no bread, with more onion rings and fries. Onion rings were right on, fries not so much. I think our order got lost because it took forever, which we did not mind. But after asking about the order it came right away.(that was OK). Would I go back? In a heartbeat with no hesitation and if you find it on Google maps you should go too.

Great local bar in Howard! Really enjoyed my hamburger and the laid back atmosphere. Cash only

The Three Cheese Grilled Cheese had an insane cheese pull and was loaded with melty, delicious cheese. The tater tots were surprisingly flavorful, seasoned with a unique blend that definitely had onion and a hint of garlic, along with other spices I couldn't quite identify--but they were fantastic! The Mouthful definitely lives up to its name. It's huge, incredibly filling, and absolutely worth ordering if you're hungry. To top it all off, we tried the crème brûlée for the first time ever, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. It was delicious and made for an awesome first experience with the dessert. Overall, South Street Grill exceeded all expectations. It does get busy, which isn't surprising considering how good the food is, but it's easy to get to and well worth the wait. A MUST-TRY if you're in the area! We'll definitely be back!

We had a lovely time though we weren't thrilled about sitting in the tiny side room at the tiny 4-person bar with our backs to the room...it felt cramped. Our server helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine from an extensive collection. The apples and rice appetizer was excellent..like arancini balls. My husband had the duck and liked it. I had the lumache which was just ok. The pasta was a little too al dente and the large clumsy shells didn't seem like the right shape for the delicate dish. It was supposed to come with shrimp, but surprise...nope! It came with lobster. I find lobster a bit sweet and thought shrimp would have worked better. This girl is usually in the clean plate club when it comes to pasta and seafood dishes but not tonight. I will say that the dessert alone was worth the one hour drive.. the smoked smores arrived with a bell jar of smoke which the server whisked off to reveal a delectable gooey to-die-for cake smothered in caramel and marshmallow. Did I mention it came with two cups of hot white chocolate to pour over the whole thing? Omg..drool-worthy.

Highly recommend Grilled Cheese Monday (Texas toast, bright orange cheese slices and all) and the sweet potato fries. They have a surprising variety of aiolis that are delish. Good dessert section, too--the pumpkin bread and molasses cookies are must-tries. Can't speak to the goat tacos, but I've heard they're hyper-local (born and assassinated on Kenyon's very own farm). Piercegiving and Midnight Breakfast are most definitely the highlight of every Kenyon student's experience. The icecream tower (housed in a literal kiddie pool) most likely was vetoed post-Covid, but by god, it was excellent. "Fried Bologna, World Affairs, and One Legendary Brad"…read more Longer review but wanted to share. Traveling through central Ohio, I decided to detour for something unique--and landed at Homestead Family Restaurant in Fredericktown. I walked in around 7:30 AM and immediately spotted a table of 8-10 older gentlemen who looked like they were actively solving the world's problems. (Global warming? Inflation? Or just the eternal question of whether the Buckeyes will ever win big--hard to say.) The place oozes classic small-town America charm. I parked myself at the big U-shaped counter, and before I could even think about coffee, a hot cup appeared in front of me. Service here is fast, friendly, and so welcoming it feels like they've known you for years--even if you just rolled in off the road. The menu had those retro comfort food gems you rarely see anymore. And there it was: Fried Bologna Omelet. Pennsylvania has scrapple. Hawaii has Spam. Southern Ohio has Goetta. Central Ohio? Central Ohio proudly waves the fried bologna flag. I ordered the Bologna Omelet with fried potatoes, plus a biscuit with sausage gravy (because if you say no to sausage gravy here, you'll probably get escorted out). The food was very good. Potatoes could've used a little more time in the pan (maybe par-boiling first), but hey--still plenty tasty. For the "tribe," I grabbed: Breakfast Bowl (potatoes, eggs, American cheese, topped with sausage gravy--basically edible joy). Sausage Biscuits and Gravy (aka, double-down on gravy, because life is short). Everything hit the spot. The place is neat, the food hearty, and the service top-notch. But here's what really made the stop unforgettable: Brad. Brad is a local legend and was celebrating his birthday that morning. He sat next to me, gave me the lowdown on the town, and greeted everyone like the unofficial mayor of Fredericktown. The entire restaurant seemed to be there for him. Brad is a kind, gentle soul--the kind of person who makes you think, "You know what? This world really does need more Brads." Final Thought: Homestead Family Restaurant isn't just about good food (though the fried bologna omelet and sausage biscuit & gravy are worth the trip). It's about community, character, and the people who make small towns special. If you're in the area, stop by. Even if you're not hungry, you might meet Brad--and trust me, that's better than dessert.
