Hubby and I had an errand to run in town so we found a place to have lunch. Flappers happened to be on our way home so we stopped by. Nice lunch crowd with a few booths left. We sat ourselves as we were greeted right away. Our server was very friendly and was happy to answer our questions with the menu. I ordered the loaded fries which were very good! And the boneless wings which were also very good. Hubby ordered the Flappers Burger with onion rings and the hot cheese balls. He said everything was great. As we were checking out we met the owner Erin and she chatted with us a bit. We were telling her how great everything was and we would be back. She said they try and use as much local fresh ingredients they can and they use fresh beef too. Never frozen. Also they have live bands. Told her we will def be back. read more

Stopped here with a group of 7 while staying in the Mohican area at a cabin. Was pleased with the service and food. Ordered the cheese balls and pretzel sticks as an app. Very typical "bar food" apps, but they hit the spot after a night of drinking. lol Three of us ordered the gyros and we're pleased with the meal. The potato side (can't remember name, but we're small potatoes covered in toppings of our choice) was so good - and a nice size! We did have one of our party guests order the wings and was less than thrilled. Didn't think they were very good and somewhat overcooked. We generally love Flappers because of their fish and we like to support local business. Tonight we ordered wings and they were awful. Aside from being ridiculously over priced, if they put the garlic sauce on them you wouldn't know. The chicken was terrible quality and we only got thru a few before calling it quits, because we were so grossed out. I get that everyone is hurting but what we got should have cost a third,if not less, of what we paid. Most things on their menu are over priced and have increased, but we love the fish and some of the servers. Super disapponted however. read more

Horrible server, couldn't do her job to serve the table, had to be three different people. Never asked identification when buying two shots once on the table the server found time to stand and watch who took the drink. THE ONLY 20 year old did pick it up and drink it, which wrong and never saying otherwise. The server Anna came over demanded them to leave while yelling and throwing rude remarks. Because the table of two business owners, one doctor and two young mature adults, know how to handle themselves in public, they apologize many times and wait to get the bill to pay and leave. Anna decided once wasn't enough, so she again went back and yelled. Upon cashing out, the coustmer asked for change back given there was NO TIP ERRED OR REQUIRED. She then made it her place to make fun of him for asking for the change back. I've worked this line of jobs for many years, can be very stressful but.never have I ever treated anyone like that no matter the situation and given there was no relatory response from the said party I can't fathom any excuse you may want to conjure up for justification here. read more

This is kind of a hidden treasure of Mt. Vernon. I've been here three times and have had great food, great service, and a great atmosphere for watching sports. With two TVs in the bar and a large one in the dining area, this is perfect Now I've done lunch here but it's been great. Wings, buffalo sandwich, etc....all is good! Just went in there to get a drink and sat at the bar. The bar tender never asked us want we wanted and looked at us many times. The place was not busy at all. We were sitting at the bar for 7 min while everyone around us got waited on and served. We will never go back to a place that acts like that again. Never been to this restaurant/bar before and thought we would try it on a week night. We did go around dinner time so they were busy. I am understanding about restaurants and I know most are short staffed. My husband and I walked in a stood there for about 15 minutes. Someone was behind the bar but we saw no other employees. No one told us about how long the wait would be, or even offered us a menu. No acknowledgement at all. A group walked in behind us and we all just kind of looked at each other. We ended up leaving. I pass this place all the time as I am in Mt Vernon a lot. I will just keep on passing by. Not impressed. read more

Came in as a party of five. Three of us ordered traditional wings. All three wing orders came out and were extremely skimpy. 1/2 of the wings on my plate were unidentifiable as chicken wings. Sent them back ( not exactly sure what they were). Waitress gave no updates on them and charged us full menu price. My colleague had four or five unidentifiable wings and tried eating his. Turns out they were full of broken bone chunks. My other colleague though his were extremely skimpy and way overdone. We though flappers, hence the name would be a decent wing joint. Call place. Really liked the atmosphere, and staff was friendly. Decent variety on the menu. We were there on a Saturday afternoon when there was a softball tournament in town. They were 100% packed. Food was decent, but it took forever to come out and half of our party got their entrée, while the other half of the party had to wait a long time. Some of the food was cold by the time It got to us. Used to love the place. Horrible idea to change the menu and even more horribly managed that the website still to this day shows the old menu they changed two weeks ago. Should at least honor the fact that your on line menu still shows those items and continue serving them until you can figure out how to change it. This place was excellent. In a town this size, you never know exactly what you're going to get. This is a extremely solid choice for bar type food. The prices are extremely reasonable, the portions are large, and the food delicious. I had a bacon Swiss burger with fries and a five piece order of garlic wings. Everything I had was delicious. Additionally, they have a reasonably large selection of draft beers to boot, both in pint and tall sizes. I sat in the bar side which is separated from the regular dining room. Great neighborhood place. Family friendly at dinner time and live music later in the evening. Food is quality american cuisine, and they have an extensive beer menu for the area. For those who remember Mazza's, which used to be right down the road from Flappers, they also serve Mazza salad. read more

Generally a good place to stop, IF you sit at the bar. Poor service anywhere else. Husband and I typically tip upwards of 20%, today was much less. Waitress brought us our food and never came back. We both would have liked refills on our drinks. Husband even put his glass at the edge of the table. That is a universal sign that we are asking for a refill. Food was great. I ordered for 7 people so yeah a decent size crowd but it was ridiculous my server left twice in the middle of ordering my drinks and every single bit of food we received was burnt ,dry , and old the prices weren't good but not absolutely terrible. It has been a while since i have been in to Flapper's. On the last visit, the place was, well, rough and dirty. Now, BETTER, way better, like yes, it is safe to order food. We got a couple meals and a Mazza salad. Very pleased how nice the food was and a delicious burger! Plus, great little french fries - cooked properly, golden brown and delicious. I will go 10 stars on well cooked food especially well cooked potatoes. Big bonus: the staff was way nice and pleasant and very personal! Even a nice beer selection. I have a soft spot for this place, although I wish they had a better wine selection. The beer selection is diverse enough and the bartenders know how to recommend. Their burgers are great and I love their wings. It's great when they have live music but the food makes it worth the visit. read more
