First, we weren't offered napkins and coasters.( I got up and took them myself!) Second, the food took well over 30 minutes to arrive on a Sunday evening where there were about 50 guests. Starting with burger, as we ordered well done, it came rare! Spicy nashiville chicken was not spicy. As a matter of fact, wings were about 5 to 6 times more spicy than the Nashville spicy chicken. House chips were so stale that at some point, it felt chewing on rubbery gum! It was a disappointing experience, unfortunately. Stopped in with friends one evening - unplanned because we didn't want to deal with the waits at other nearby places that offered adult beverages and food as well. Walking in, we had to wait for the hostess and almost turned around to find another place before she appeared. I mentioned this because there seemed to be confusion or a lack of communication with staff. We were seated by the hostess then had to wait a while before being approached or greeted; felt like the servers didn't know who was assigned to our table. When we finally were approached, having waited for a while, we took the opportunity to place our entire order (drinks and food). Service was not attentive. Order was taken. Food was delivered. Then we had to wave our server over to handle an issue with one of the dishes. This was after the meal was over - as he/no one ever followed up. The issue was with the Poke Bowl (starter). If you've ever cut fish, there are sinews or connective tissue that should be excluded because it's tough and chewy; kinda hard to eat. Well, there was a portion that wasn't taken out if you've ever tried to eat it - you know how that can ruin an experience. The rest of the dishes were decent. I didn't take pictures as lighting wasn't great and my phone battery was in the single digit percent. But we got onion rings, wings and crispy Brussel sprouts. Those dishes we cleared and I'd say there were what we expected. The manager, don't remember her name, did come over to follow up, removing both the Poke Bowl and a friend's beer as he didn't touch it - his experience stopped when he tried to eat that chunk of fish - to rectify the situation. As for a return visit, living in LA makes it unlikely but if back visiting, either family and or friends, or my last college alma mater, and it was suggested, I'd consider it. Came here the other day for a girls date and was pleasantly surprised with how good the lunch menu is! I have been here before, but for brunch and I absolutely loved the charcuterie board breakfast (not shown) and shared this amongst two other girls and it was the perfect portion to try a little of everything. But this time I was here for lunch and the burger was very juicy and the truffle fries were amazing. I'm glad that the waitress was very helpful because she made this recommendation. I got the blue cheese cheeseburger, except I sub the blue cheese for a cheddar (dont judge me) but I would definitely reorder! We have been going here on regular bases and I realized some beers are always marked tapped out. I really believe they don't brew them any more and instead of changing the sign they just but the sign on it. We usually get great service but on March 16th out waitress was very rushing and it was hard to get her attention when we needed something. The beef sliders were so flavorful, also the chicken one but the beef one was my favorite. The fried cauliflower with the accompanying sauce was ok. I had to change my review to 5 stars after coming here for brunch. Their Brunchuterie board is amazing! For $40 it's well worth it for all the food you get. This board can easily be shared among 2 people. Some of my favorite things from the board include the eggs, candied bacon, churro French toast bites, and strawberry cream cheese. For drinks, we ordered the strawberry mule forever and the Old Towne Orange creamsicle. Highly recommend both! Would love to come back to try some of their other brunch items. I was looking for a brewery to meet up with a college friend. The Anaheim ballpark area was super crowded due to the Angels playing that evening. Nearby lots were charging for parking so we left and decided to drive into Orange, so glad we did! Plenty of street parking available made it easy to wake up over to 1886. The town has a very Hill Valley vibe which was very cool. Got there around 6:30pm and it was still easy getting seated. Super friendly staff at the front door. It was nice that we were told we could sit anywhere. The ambience was good, not too crowded, great music, very clean throughout. The place reminded me of one I would go to in my hometown where locals came in and made conversation with each other. I order the chile verde tacos with the Norteño lager. Fresh beer, not too strong and I was able to drive to my hotel just fine after dinner. The tacos came in 3s, and served on a nice tray to keep all the ingredients together. We also had a side dish of Brussel sprouts which were also very delicious and toasty. Both dishes were sharable. It was the perfect place to be on a summer Thursday evening. This bar is located in the orange circle, close to the Chapman campus. I stopped by here on Sunday to have a drink. I'm always worried at breweries that they will have bad wine, but the wine was really good here! The bar was clean and they had lots of huge TVs to watch any sport that you were interested in. My best friend took me out for my birthday and we saw this place had a 3 course brunch meal. We decided to try two different appetizers (chicken tenders dipped in waffle batter and french toast sticks). These were actually delicious and very flavorful. Would definitely get these again. Now our main dishes were chicken & waffles and the Spanish omelette. I was very disappointed with the omelette. One the first bite, I had to spit it out. The texture was off, and the chorizo did not taste right. Once I was finally able to wave down our server, who was a bit distracted, and asked to switch out my main dish. She understood and put in my new order. Unfortunately it took 30 minutes for my new meal and the 3rd course of dessert. The classic breakfast was nothing to write home about and honestly fed the leftover eggs and bacon to my dog when we got home. For the 3rd course, we got the bread pudding and the pancake holes. These were good, but not great. The place was decently full but not packed. A lot of the staff talked among themselves so it wasn't a rush when we got there at 11:30. Been here a couple of times since it is so close to work. The service is great and they are pretty fast. Most of the other restaurants in the area get very packed for lunch so this is always the next option. The specialty here is of course the beer. I have tried a few of them and they are great. They also have some local breweries that have their beer on tap that are some of my favorites. My first visit was during Happy Hour and I gotta say it was great. You can get $7 appetizers and $2 off select beers, cocktails, and wine. We ended up ordering the Cheeseburger Sliders, Buffalo Bleu Chicken Sliders, Beer Cheese Fries, and the Pretzel Bites. My faves were the cheeseburger sliders, fries, and pretzel bites. I am not a huge fan of spicy food so the buffalo bleu chicken sliders were to hot for me. Luckily, my friend was able to help out with that. I will definitely be back again since this is int he heart of Orange and I have always experienced a great time eating and drinking here. Be advised it can get busy in the evening and on weekends, but the place is huge so it shouldn't be too bad. read more

Stopped into 1886 Brewing in Orange and overall had a good time. The food is definitely the standout here--everything we ordered came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The beer, though, was just okay. A decent selection, but nothing really jumped out or wowed me. It's drinkable, but if you're coming for top-tier craft brews, you might not find your new favorite here. Still, the vibe is cool, the space is inviting, and the service was solid. Saw this on OC restaurant at week and decided to give it a a go! We were a party of 6 on Sunday around 12pm. Waited about 20 min to get seated. We started with a BRUNCHUTERIE board and it was everything and more. It consisted of pancake bites w berries, French toast, waffles, candied bacon, fried chicken, sausages, eggs, and potatoes. The eggs were actually fluffy and had a great salty taste. I'm usually very whatever about eggs at restaurants but this was so good and I kept going back for more. Their fried chicken was a HIT. It was soaked in maple syrup but was still so crispy. Loved it. The 1886 breaky sandwich was OK. The bread on the bottom wasn't able to handle all the sauce + runny egg so it did get soggy. I also don't like a messy bfast and this was def on the messier side.. i also didn't like that my 1 slice of tomato & onions weren't evenly dispersed throughout the sandwich. A little history about myself. I was raised in the city of Orange. My stomping ground for when I was a child was Old Towne Orange. My mum owned an antique shop there. As time goes by, all these antique shops have become eateries or boutique shops. This place is one of them. 1886 used to be a Georgian antique wood furniture shop. That is why the facade is a stunning carved wood doorway. I've been to this brewery a few times already. The beers are decent. Although this time around, I wanted something light like a pilsner or lager, which is my usual. They didn't have anything. The pale ale wasn't to my liking. Surprisingly I went dark and got a dark Hefeweizen (Dunkelweizen) -- Dunk's Not Dead. It was delightful! And this time was my first time trying their food. We got an order of the Chicken Strips. The fries were so good! But the sauce... yum! There was a Buffalo and Bulgogi option. Bonus points to them for bringing a side of ranch before I even requested for one! Now that I know they serve food and it's delicious, I'm totally going back next time for more than just drinks and snacks. We chose to have my husband's 30th birthday at 1886. We come here pretty often and enjoy the beer, cocktails, and food selection that they offer. Initially, we used their online form to try and reserve a party space, but didn't end up hearing back, so we went in to speak with someone. We spoke with the guy in charge of events and he took down our name and number of people and asked if we preferred inside or outside. We chose outside. When we arrived, the hostess told us she had a table set up for the 15 of us inside, but we let her know we preferred outside and her and the manager made that happen. We were appreciative of that because it let my husband be able to easily get up and talk with people at the party. The outside patio is covered, has plenty of heaters, and doesn't feel crowded. Our server was Jesus and he was attentive, kind, and came back often. I was thankful that when they forgot my salad, they removed it from our bill, and that they removed a drink that nobody at our table enjoyed. They brought out the birthday cake we had brought with the candles lit, and gave us a knife to serve it with. They also brought out a birthday cake shot for my husband. The manager this night was really kind and helpful. Overall, this is a good place to have a gathering or party, or just go to for a date. We started with their ceviche app and their shrimp ceviche and chips were great. I enjoyed it and it was a light start the meal and I would order again. It started with the Chapman Cadillac/Margarita. Not my favorite but then again it that is what I get for getting a cocktail at a brewery. For a meal, did the blacken shrimp sandwich and it was good. We opted for the fries which were a little lighter cooked for my taste. Service was great. The waiter was attentive and periodically checking in on us. Overall, great experience. I want to check out their brunch in the future. They also have a cute back area that can be rented. 1886 Brewing is a bit on the pricey side but it's a fun spot in Old Towne Orange perfect for large groups. They have a decent selection of starters, salads, entrees, and sandwiches, and obviously a large selection of drinks. I tried the Reuben sandwich and swapped out the homemade chips for fries instead. The sandwich was $19 and cost $2 more for the fries. The portion was pretty large so you can easily share the fries with someone. The sandwich itself was fine, not the best or worst Reuben out there. It was juicy, but the sauerkraut was bland so it lacked the sour punch you expect in a Reuben. Service is friendly, a little slow but I'm assuming that's because it's quite busy. read more
