    Chilaquiles
    Jenna A.

Bosscat is absolutely DELICIOUS. Their brunch menu is all under $20 (totally unheard of no-a-days). Their Beignets are incredible, and I am now a huge fan of chilaquiles. Not pictured but also worth it: the blueberry brunch item & the cinnamon roll. Owners and staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and gave plenty of recommendations. Perfect place to celebrate, chat with your loved ones, and enjoy a delicious brunch. Lots of seating (indoor and outdoor). I am looking forward to coming back and trying the non-brunch as well ... after I have the brunch 4 more times!

    Blood Orange Paloma

I went to Bosscat Kitchen & Libations years ago, and I think some of the menu items have changed since then. I still love the decor, there are a lot of unique and interesting items throughout the restaurant. I decided to have a cocktail with dinner since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I ordered the Blood Orange Paloma and my husband had a tequila soda. Given the libations name, I expected the cocktails would be especially delicious and creative, but I was disappointed in both the taste and presentation. My drink tasted more like a regular paloma, and I didn't pick up a blood orange taste. It was topped with a fresh lime, and I think the grapefruit soda overpowered the drink. They also had two tequila blanco options: lalo and espolon. Our favorite item for the night was the burger smashies appetizer. They are three mini smash burgers, with pickles on the side, and they provide mustard and ketchup when you ask. I had the spicy rigatoni and my husband ordered the pan seared salmon. I thought my pasta was good and I liked the ricotta. My husband liked his salmon and he said the greens on the side were delicious. The charred lemon also gave the salmon a nice flavor. Service felt a little mixed during our visit. There were a couple of moments where the waitress came across as a bit sarcastic, though I'm not totally sure if I was reading it right. I think she may have overheard me mention to my husband that I didn't love my drink. When she came to check on it, I said it was fine. I don't really send drinks back, especially if that is how they make their blood orange paloma. I don't like wasting it or expecting something different. After that, the interaction felt a little off. At the end of the meal, it also took a while to get our check. She cleared our plates and it was probably about 15 minutes before she came back to take our card.

Haven't been here in a while. Carme here with the team for a birthday. Staff is really friendly and attentive. See 34a came by to check constantly and the food came out pretty quick. Very large portions. Unfortunately the menu change again and it's limited. Not sure if the menu is more extensive at night. The highlight was the artichoke spring rolls. Otherwise we were all disappointed with our choices, well except for the birthday boy who enjoyed his burger and chips. As a matter of fact, he had dinner here the night before and had the burger as well. The staff even brought out a little birthday treat, it was actually tasty.

    The Ham-azing Croissant

We stopped by for Brunch. The restaurant was not busy so we were seated quickly. Our waiter was very nice. I love the decor in here. They were also playing the Champions League Finals on the TVs which was good. I assume they'll play the World Cup games too. We ordered the Gravy Train and the Ham-azing Croissant. Just a warning, the Ham-azing Croissant is HUGE! This is a definitely a dish meant for sharing. They asked if we wanted them to pour the sauce over the croissant or leave it on the side to dip in. We decided to leave it on the side to be dipped. This croissant sandwich was very dense and filling and the cheese sauce was very rich. I been on the hunt to find the best biscuits and gravy in OC. The ones here were ok. I liked the idea of getting these with fried chicken but unfortunately the fried chicken was quite dry and stringy. The biscuits themselves were buttery and the gravy sauce was very savory and had onion chunks. But the dry chicken made the entire dish very hard to eat. Overall this was a decent brunch, mostly since we spent under $40 for so much food so it was a decent deal.

Bosscat is a must try spot when visiting the Orange Circle. The service was amazing and the menu is so well rounded, there's definitely something for everyone. For the appetizer we got the maple butter brussels sprouts. They were a tad bit sweet for me still really great. We got a variety of mains to share: coastal white fish, pan seared salmon, 12 hour beef short rib, and bosscat burger. Each dish was spot on but salmon and short rib were the for sure stand outs for me. The salmon was perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. The short rib was melt in your mouth perfection.

The ambiance is relaxing. Everything I've had from here has been good. I've been here several times. You might have to wait because they're making your food fresh to order. There is room for the whole family inside the restaurant.

Great location, decor and ambiance. Went for a private event so the food was served buffet-style. Everything was really good, especially the Brussels sprouts which were easily some of the best I've had. And the craft cocktails were spot on. Overall, a great experience with excellent food, cocktails, and service. Looking forward to coming back to try their brunch and whiskey room.

The service was just spectacular, the staff was amazing. We got the chance to meet the owner, came to our table to check and was so welcoming. The food was just fantastic, had the pork belle appetizer which was amazing with a kimchi slaw. For the main course tried the fried chicken sandwich, with french fries. Now let me tell you about these thick cut double fried goodness. They are the best fries ever. Absolutely fantastic. For the desert we tried the fried apple pie. It's like a churro meats a warm apple pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Amazing!!! The ambiance is just perfect, the restaurant has inside and patio sitting. The decor is so unique and feel like you take a step back in time with a modern twist

Father's Day Win: High quality, low prices at Bosscat I'll be honest: when I first looked at the limited brunch menu for Father's Day, I was a bit skeptical. However, our server provided some great context they've intentionally streamlined their offerings to keep prices accessible for their guests. In today's dining climate, finding a great brunch where nothing on the menu exceeds $20 and drinks are priced at just $5 is a rare find! The Standout: The Blueberry French Toast is non-negotiable. Made with King's Hawaiian rolls and topped with an incredible house-made blueberry syrup, it's worth the trip alone. The portions across the board are very generous. The Vibe: The space has a lovely rustic, industrial feel, and it's surprisingly roomy. I loved that it's an 'open' concept but fully covered we enjoyed the outdoor-style cubes without dealing with the direct sun, which made for a very comfortable morning. Located in such a vibrant area with plenty of coffee shops and boutiques, it's a perfect spot to anchor a day out. Highly recommended!

Came here for my friend's baby shower and it was a perfect spot for both dining and hosting events. We had a private setup on the front patio with unlimited buffet-style food and drinks, and the service was excellent. The staff stayed on top of everything, keeping the food replenished and making sure we were good on drinks. Everything was fresh and served hot, and the cocktails on the menu were all delicious. The fries were perfectly crispy, the sliders were flavorful, the salad was refreshing, and the chilaquiles surprisingly stayed crispy and full of flavor and shredded meat. It's located in downtown Orange and luckily we found street metered parking right in front. Will come here again to dine!

I had finished my last chemo at UCI and wanted to meet up with family that had driven and flown for dinner. Loved the restaurant location and the open atmosphere. Menu was a little limited, but I was very very pleased with the tenderness of my short ribs. So delicious everyone was pretty happy with their meal choices. In addition to the pictures. There was a chicken salad, a burger...but everyone also agreed that the short ribs were the best. We also ordered I forgot what it was called, but it was a purple cheesecake ($17) to go. It was pretty good too, although I think too expensive.

GOLD MEDAL CHICKEN SANDWICH with salad
    Sunday B.

First time here and was a solid choice. They seem to specialize in burgers..but I got the gold medal chicken sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was a tad salty so I removed some of the bacon. All the ingredients were fresh. Service was good. Dining area is big and open with high ceilings. Has a gastropub vibe... Parking was easy peasy. Plenty of parking in the free public lot about 2 blocks away. Also street parking if you are lucky.

I've walked by this restaurant numerous times when in Old Town Orange, but since it was a little later than usual, I thought I'd catch brunch this morning. They offer both indoor and covered, somewhat outdoor seating. There are tables and cushioned bench seating, but it's a little crowded. They have great booth seating on the right hand side, but that's set aside for parties of six. I didn't even ask. The atmosphere is casual. The menu is divided into food on one side and drinks on the other. There were couples and groups, including children, enjoying Sunday brunch. I could hear Sabrina Carpenter and Smash Mouth playing on the overhead speakers. I ordered a mimosa from the classic $5 cocktail menu. It was good and strong. For my main meal, I ordered the short rib chilaquiles, which comes with a side of sour cream. I added an egg for $1.99. It was delicious. The meat was shredded and mixed in with the tortilla chips. My egg was over medium as requested. I finished the entire thing. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Parking: Free, street parking.

    Is there gluten free options?

    Yes

Is it loud inside where one has to talk loud to b heard?

They do have music playing, but we had a side booth and everyone could hear each other pretty well.

    Do they serve Easter brunch?

    I don't know

Is there live music Saturday nights? And what kind of music? Is it loud?

I don't recall music there. This is the one in Orange. There is also one in Irvine.

Is the dinner menu available at lunchtime during the week?

    Check the website.

Is there still a mandatory 20% gratuity on each Check?

No. That was for street fair only. 20% will still be added to parties of 6 or more but that is all

So, you close at 230 on Saturday and reopen at 330?

Yes. We take an hour in between brunch and dinner to reset our kitchen due to having such high volume nights

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes. They have an outside patio, where you can take your dogs.

Does anyone know the Spotify playlist they play here?

The brunch playlist is flashback remix 2020 😊😊

    Are kids allowed?

Hello. Kids are always allowed. We do have some kid friendly options on our dinner and brunch menus.

I believe they do on Sundays.

Do you have patio seating? I have made a 12 noon reservation for lunch and would like to sit on the patio so I can bring my puppy. Thank you?…

We do have patio seating. Unfortunately I do have a table that seats 12 guests. We have to split the group up on multiple table to accommodate. But dogs are welcome.

What are the days and hours for Happy Hour? Can we make a reservation?

3pm-6pm. Yes you can but so far it hang been too busy.

First timer to this location, do they have Sunday brunch?

Yes we do. 10am to 2:30pm. Same offering as our Newport location.

Are there any Vegan options available?

How is the parking? Is there a designated lot? Main reason I steer away from the circle in Orange establishments which is unfortunate since there are so many good ones.

Hi! So we parked at the structure and walk to Bosscat. It wasn't a far walk. Parking wasn't an issue for us. It was on a week day around 2:00pm.

Will this location take part in the industry night like your Irvine location?

Not to start off. Industry night is going to be revisited and changed in both locations. As of now either location does not do industry night. We should have a new offering available by this summer

When are you opening in Orange?

Hello, we will opening to the public March 30th @3pm. We will start taking reservations on March 29th. We Will be opening for regular business hours on April 1st from 11 am to 11pm.

It seems like this spot is super popular for brunch drinks. Had the birria taco and this one was probably my favorite of the dishes tha we ordered. The smoked salmon flatbread wasn't as good, it looks very colorful and pretty, but I didnt think the flavors went together very well. I like the smokiness but the salmon wasn't umami enough to justify mixing in caviar and avocado and arugula that would normally pair well with beef. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the ham butter imparted so much flavor. My favorite item that we ordered was the Galician Octopus. The thin slices were perfectly executed and the flavors underneath packed a punch. I would pass on the Gambas al Ajillo. While the shrimp were large, I found myself wishing that they had some char. The Summer Squash Salad was a perfect complement to the other dishes. Making reservations is recommended since the restaurant is small but making it wasn't too difficult. We were impressed by how cute it was. It had a dark European vibe which we loved. It's definitely intimate and great for small groups, not so much larger ones. We brought in our own wine to enjoy with a corkage free. We got seated right away and our nice waiter gave us great recommendations and answered our many questions. We ended up ordering a lot between all three of us but that's just how we roll. We started with their bread & ham butter, pork pate, and burrata. The pork pate didn't come with bread so we were glad our waiter recommended it. The pate was really good and was different. It was on the dense side but still spreadable and full of flavor. The burrata had peaches, cherries and pinenuts. It was different but in a good way and we also ate that with the bread. It was more bland and nice with the pate. For dinner we got their steak tartare, mushrooms, chicken, and pork. The steak tartare was on the saltier side which I didn't mind. It was actually a large portion and sat on some toast. The mushrooms were a hit. They were braised with an onsen egg on top to mix. The pork was exceptional. It was flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend it for protein. My least favorite dish was the chicken, which was actually super tender and cooked just right. I just didn't like the sauce taste and I am not a fan of beans. We ended the night with some basque cheesecake which was not too sweet and delicious. What an incredible meal. The pricing we thought was good for the quality and what you get. Some of the portions were smaller but good for us. The pork did have a 40 minute wait to make which our waiter told us. Service was amazing and the food came out as it was made. The restaurant is small so reservations is recommended. They have limited parking and there is also street parking around.

The space is BEAUTIFUL, both during the day and at night. When we checked in on Friday evening they even had live music, but unfortunately I was feeling a little sick so I skipped it and told myself I'd redeem the experience the next day before heading to Disneyland. And I'm glad I did. In the daytime, the patio area is gorgeous--you can really appreciate the firepit seating and the little lake with koi fish outside. Such a relaxing vibe. We came by around 4PM to pregame before Disney and the bar was pretty busy. Huge shoutout to Arvey, the bartender who took care of us during our visit. Not only was the service exceptional, but he genuinely made some of the best cocktails we've had in a while. Sitting at the bar and watching him make the drinks was honestly part of the experience itself. At first we were trying to customize and tweak our drinks because we usually stay in our comfort zone, but after talking with him and learning more about the ingredients in The Peel's specialty cocktails, we decided to trust the process a little more. We ordered the Dragonfly and Playing With Fire, and both were amazing--beautiful presentation, really balanced flavors, sweet and sour in the best way. We're usually not big foam cocktail people either, but this visit might've changed our minds a little. Also, Playing With Fire came with a fun little presentation moment which made it even better. Honestly, I was really impressed with my experience here. I even came back for another drink at breakfast before checking out of the hotel lol. The dining area also looked beautiful and the food coming out to other tables looked really good too. Definitely looking forward to coming back anytime I'm around the Anaheim area again.

Parking validation is done at the front desk. They have a solid menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts and a very nice craft cocktail menu. It's sectioned off at the south east end of the lobby and feels like a more open space than a standard restaurant or bar and the vibe feels very OC, hipster, upscale. The only downside is the service is not consistent the last two times we've been here. The night we visited, there was a singer playing piano between the bar and restaurant area. I love entertainment at any venue, but the sound was way too loud for indoors and we couldn't hear each other talking. The reason I suggested The Peel for dinner was because I've been able to have conversations with friends and catch up without any competing noise from neighboring tables or crowds in the past. Maybe call ahead of time if there's going to be entertainment and if there's an event in town (Motocross was happening this weekend) to gauge the crowd and noise level before you go. The bar is fully stocked and they have a lot of craft cocktails to choose from and the drinks are consistently good. I had the Como la Flor cocktail this night and in the past I've enjoyed the Fera & the Dragonfly cocktails. The appetizers are great to share with your friends and there's lots to choose from. I enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and the mini sliders a lot and my friends really loved the chorizo flatbread. For the entree I got the smash burger and it's pretty filling and rich. You get fries with the order and the fries are perfectly crispy and tasty. For dessert we got the bread pudding, lemon cheesecake and lava cake. The lemon cheesecake was like biting a slice of lemon with some sugar. It's definitely for lemon lovers and I enjoyed it. Bread pudding ice cream was good but the bread pudding was alright and you can't go wrong with lava cake. Again, my only issue with the Peel is the service. It's not very hospitable compared to other restaurants I've visited. There was a bit of a wait from when we were seated to when our server showed up. He took our orders, the food and drinks would show up, and after that we didn't see our server for a while, so we were without drink refills and our table had dirty dishes that just sat there. I glanced around a few times and saw no servers on the floor, a server that was not ours that was far away or would try to flag one down for a refill on our waters but they were quickly leaving the area. We were waiting on the check, but just kept talking instead and then finally, when the check came we were in mid conversation catching up. He stopped by a few minutes later, picked up the check and realized we had not put our cards down to pay it and came back and dropped it off again. We paid using Google-Wallet at their point of sale system and sat back down to finish our conversation and the busser asked if he could remove the dirty dishes on our table and said, in a rude tone, "Yeah because we're closed already." We didn't realize they were closed since there was still a large crowd of people at the bar, and he could have said that in a polite way and said thank you for coming, but he made it known he has to set his jars of jam down on the table for breakfast tomorrow. Honestly, had our server come by much earlier and checked on us and left the bill, we would've left before closing. I don't usually think of a hotel restaurant as a go-to for dinner with friends, but this is the only one in a while that I would recommend because the vibe is unique. I hope the service improves, but other than that it's a solid restaurant.
