The Filling Station is certainly a very popular breakfast and lunch spot in Old Town Orange. A few highlights include huge portions, nostalgic decor and feel, outdoor dog friendly patio seating and inside seating with red vinyl booths. Husband ordered roasted egg plant sandwich, which he said was very good. I had a half tuna sandwich with chicken noodle soup. What I enjoyed the most was the ice cold Arnold Palmer's, which hit the spot on a very hot and muggy day in OC. Overall, food was fresh and satisfying. The outdoor patio area is kind of rustic, with lots of plants, birds and spider webs. It is a good place for people watching. With so many choices of places to eat in Old Town, The Filling Station is one worth putting on your list to check out for casual dining.
Love this place. I've been to this place a few times when I used to live in orange. I was back handing out with some friends and this place continues to be amazing!! We got a few breakfast burritos and the base french toast and it all tasted amazing. Their service is lovely and they came to check in at a perfect pace.
Came in to the filling station with my girlfriend and her meetup group for father's day breakfast. We arrived early knowing that we were expecting a group of 10 and seating is first come first served. We arrived at 8:30 for a planned 9AM breakfast. The hostess took our name and party size and then requested that we let her know when everyone arrived. She estimated 40 to 45 minutes. We were called a few minutes before 9 and seated. Great start Everyone ordered drinks and then the server came back and took meal orders. I went with my regular breakfast meal, French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. My girlfriend chose a spin on eggs Benedict with beef. Food came out quickly and was served hot. Everything tasted good and fresh for me. I especially enjoyed their bacon, cooked perfectly to my liking and fantastic flavor. Bonus that they served me 3 pieces. The server was especially helpful by allowing us to come to the register when it was time to pay and after telling her our orders she was able to charge us each individually which is always very helpful with a large group. Parking is challenging, they do have a small lot behind the restaurant but even with a compact car the spaces were tight. There is some street parking if you luck out and find a space. There are also municipal lots around downtown orange and the traffic circle which offer additional spaces. We will definitely return. Loved the kitschy decor and old gas station feel.
Hands down, the best brunch place I have ever been to! We were seated very quickly in about 10 minutes around 11am despite the rush. The service was excellent, and all the servers were very attentive. Seated in the patio area, it was a very nice and airy open space with umbrellas shielding us from the sun. We ordered the Dubai Pancake, Chimichurri Steak and Eggs, Nutella French Toast, and the Strawberry Belgium Waffle. I was not able to take a picture of the Steak and Eggs because we devoured it so quickly! The steak was flavorful and cooked to our preference. We all loved the Dubai Pancakes, as they were fluffy and had a nice balance of sweetness and texture with the crushed pistachio nuts. We'll definitely be going back again!
We went to Filling Station for an early lunch. We got there around 11 am. There were a number of large parties there to celebrate graduation. We waited for more than half an hour, the hostess announced that the kitchen is backed up with orders, so they won't be seating anyone until the kitchen caught up with their orders. We probably waited for more than an hour before we finally got seated. We got a seat in the patio under the umbrellas, it was cool and breezy, we loved it. We ordered Egg Benedict, classic egg and bacon and hash brown combo, and also a tuna salad sandwich. Food were average, not sure it was worth the wait. The service was good even though they were very busy!

It was expeditious, we got seated fast. The decors of the restaurant was lovely and vibrant. The food was great , it was flavorful and had the right serving size, nothing to take home. The restaurant space outdoor reminds me of SF restaurants where it was pretty crowded, not elbow to elbow - but pretty tight. For a gasoline station turned restaurant this is an amazing transition. Quaint lil' breakfast spot in Old Town Orange. Mom and pop diners aren't super common in SoCal so this felt nostalgic to muggy summer days on the East Coast. Their freshly squeezed orange juice is refreshing. I like that you can order individual pancakes if you wanna mix and match some flavors. Their pancakes were fluffy and not too sweet and paired with fried egg and some bacon? Delightful.

Can't go wrong with the steak and eggs with chimichurri sauce! Hefty portion. Steak was slightly overdone (asked for medium but it was more medium well) but still flavorful and juicy. Quite busy on weekends, always see a line of people during lunchtime. Glad we visited on a weekday for lunch... seated immediately. Service is friendly and atmosphere is cozy and relaxed. Overall a nice neighborhood eatery and fun for people-watching if you grab an outside table.
A restaurant I have been anticipating to try and I finally was able to and it did not disappoint! My group and I were seated right away and it was fairly busy for a weekday. Now onto our order: I decided to order the Belgian waffle combo which came with bacon or sausage and eggs your way. Others ordered the Nutella French toast combo, Dubai pancakes combo and the chilaquiles. Our dishes came out shortly after ordering, everything was flavorful and delicious! I can't wait to return and try other items on the menu
This place is located in old town Tustin so be aware that on the weekend parking is tougher. This diner was a little tucked away from the big circle, but the crowd drew us in. Food was really good. Reminded us of East Coast diners :)
3/23 visit Dine in - Came by during brunch hour around 11-12 noon rush . First off parking is a headache it's in Orange which is street parking .. wait time was 15-0 mins . The host was pleasant there are benches outside & shaded whips you wait . This little spot was packed which is great !! Once we got seated our waiters were extremely attentive and super friendly. I ordered their ice coffee which alright really basic not a wow fa tire but they'd steak & chimichuri sauce was delicious. Steak was cooked well versus medium like I requested but still te see , potatoes were tasty and flavorful & crispy . Overall , it's really good and nice ambience. I even ordered a few of their fresh baked treats to go like their croissant, banana nut muffin , blueberry & their chocolate coconut muffin. Only downfall is they have ONLY 1 bathroom .. for that amount of patrons is wild to me . Definitely having a secondary one would help . I legit waiting close to 20 mins + plus to wash my hands before I eat is ridiculous.. to the guy that was in the bathroom for a close to 30 mins like Dude.. you heals up the line for myself and 6 other ppl waiting so darn inconsiderate. Besides the bathroom .. situation I'd come here to dine in again and hit the coffee spot across the street Phil's coffee and get a honey haze it's amazing .

Had brunch here on a Friday afternoon. Even if it was 90° it's still felt really nice with all the shade and the fans going on in the patio. Excellent service! The hostesses were very nice and sweet. Our server was quick, but the bus boys were extremely attentive!! I don't think I've ever had a meal come out as quick as it has here. My country fried steak was delicious, very big portion. And the blueberry pancake was bomb. All the other plates my kids had were very good too. My son's breakfast burrito was huge. I also had a dole whip mimosa and it was really good too! This was an amazing find in old town Orange near the circle. What was a gas station hence the name (filling station og) is now a cool restaurant. Nicely decorated with nostalgic gas/car references. Only one bathroom and yes it is a combo. I would say 60% of thier tables are outside. Shaded by many overlapping umbrellas. Note sit outside on any good day and they are pet friendly. I had a delicious grilled eggplant and bell pepper sandwich. Very flavorful juicy and huge! My wife had a half tuna sandwich and chicken noodle soup. She said it was delightful! The cutest brunch spot in OC! Once a 1920s gas station, this cafe is full of history while still feeling warm and welcoming. There's a strong community vibe and the nostalgic touches, like the original gas pump, make it a fun and unique place to dine. We wanted to sit on the patio with the colorful umbrellas and fire pit tables, but the rainy weather had us dining indoors instead, which was just as cozy with the cute decor. The menu is stacked with breakfast favorites, but we went with the specials and they were all delicious and perfect for sharing. * Chilaquiles with Pulled Pork-so much flavor and satisfying * Crab Cake Benedict: rich, with perfectly cooked eggs * Dubai Chocolate Pancakes: decadent and our dessert Portions were generous and the service was excellent. Very nice spot for brunch! We went here on a Friday morning and there was a short wait. The restaurant had a super cute vibe to it. There is an indoor and outdoor part of the restaurant and we were sat outdoors. They had just added a chair to our table so one of us did have to sit on a regular folding chair which was interesting. Service was far quicker than expected although we might have been there waiting about 10 minutes for a table. This inside is more like a deli but for food. I came here with my friend at 10am on a Saturday for breakfast. The breakfast here is pretty solid, though we did feel a bit rushed toward the end of our meal even though we were only there for about an hour. I ordered the French toast with eggs and sausage and really enjoyed it. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My friend had an iced vanilla latte and I ordered a cappuccino. Both drinks were quite strong, so if you prefer a lighter coffee flavor, these might not be for you. The coffees were also large and we couldn't finish them, especially since our server stopped by abruptly every five minutes to ask if we needed anything else, which made us feel like it was time to wrap up and leave. Overall, the food was good, but the service felt a little rushed. read more

Giving this place 4 stars but should be more like 3.5. Looks like a better breakfast place than lunch. Had a mushroom Swiss burger which lack any dressing or pickles and that would have helped. $19. Party melt was pretty good as was the onion rings and fries. The lemonades tasted like powder mix. Place does a pretty nice business as not many breakfast places in the immediate area. Would come back to try BF but not lunch again. read more

The Filling Station Cafe in Old Towne Orange is your next neighborhood brunch spot! Their fall brunch menu features pumpkin pancakes, Lemon Poppy Pancakes, Cinnamon Bun or Pumpkin Latte, Caramel Apple Mimosa and Pumpkin Ale. Love the pumpkin spice flavor of the pumpkin pancakes!! Their outdoor patio area with some fire pit tables and cozy vibes make this the perfect hometown brunch spot. The Shitake Mushroom Scrambler is loaded with Shitaki mushrooms, kale, sun dried tomato and feta cheese! So hearty and filling, especially with potatoes!! This review is based on breakfast since the last time I was here 8 years ago. We arrived around 9:45 am and were seated very quickly on their dog friendly patio. They have a lovely patio with plenty of heaters and even a table with small fire pits but we didn't sit there. We had a nice table with plenty of room for my pup to be comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient! We ordered pancakes which for my family who are local regulars love their pancakes. I ordered the spinach and Swiss cheese omelette and just had them add mushrooms. The veggie sausages and rye toast were also part of this breakfast combination. The hashbrowns had the the crisp that I enjoy. This meal was all around delicious! They are not yet using credit card readers but that's ok because of their overall efficiency. We love the name of this restaurant because they truly do fill you up: hence the filling station. read more

I have been coming here for a long time now and I am going to be honest this place feels special like no other place. The staff is the sweetest and always try to accommodate us as fast as possible. Food here is great, breakfast menu that is served here has been tested and proven by years of staying in business and attracting early folks by its flavor fullness and size generosity. In this restaurant the pace is quite fast and people come eat and go pretty quickly , don't stay here for too long. There is an indoor and an outdoor area that serves people 7 days a week until 2:30 pm. Outside area might have tents during rain season so don't worry - they got a hang of it and if you feel like coming when it's dripping from the sky - they got you. Inside area is vintage and has a lot of fuel station pieces that remind of what this place used to be before getting converted into the restaurant. Overall best breakfast place ever. If you are looking for an awesome breakfast spot, the Filling Station has you covered. I usually get their specialty pancakes but decided to try their chimichuri steak and eggs. I was very impressed, the steak was perfectly cooked and the chimichuri sauce was so good, adding a nice kick. The portions here are generous and they have plenty of shaded outside seating.
