I stopped by Filling Station Cafe thinking I'd grab a quick bite. Three plates later, I realized my "quick stop" had turned into a full-time commitment. Love this place. I've been to this place a few times when I used to live in orange. I was back handing out with some friends and this place continues to be amazing!! First time here. Checked in and waited for a table. 10-15 min wait was reasonable. A couple of bench was available for guests outside. I was impressed with the service. It was expeditious, we got seated fast. The decors of the restaurant was lovely and vibrant. The food was great , it was flavorful and had the right serving size, nothing to take home. The restaurant space outdoor reminds me of SF restaurants where it was pretty crowded, not elbow to elbow - but pretty tight. For a gasoline station turned restaurant this is an amazing transition. Came in to the filling station with my girlfriend and her meetup group for father's day breakfast. We arrived early knowing that we were expecting a group of 10 and seating is first come first served. We arrived at 8:30 for a planned 9AM breakfast. The hostess took our name and party size and then requested that we let her know when everyone arrived. She estimated 40 to 45 minutes. We were called a few minutes before 9 and seated. Great start Everyone ordered drinks and then the server came back and took meal orders. I went with my regular breakfast meal, French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. My girlfriend chose a spin on eggs Benedict with beef. Food came out quickly and was served hot. Everything tasted good and fresh for me. I especially enjoyed their bacon, cooked perfectly to my liking and fantastic flavor. Bonus that they served me 3 pieces. The server was especially helpful by allowing us to come to the register when it was time to pay and after telling her our orders she was able to charge us each individually which is always very helpful with a large group. Parking is challenging, they do have a small lot behind the restaurant but even with a compact car the spaces were tight. There is some street parking if you luck out and find a space. There are also municipal lots around downtown orange and the traffic circle which offer additional spaces. We will definitely return. Loved the kitschy decor and old gas station feel. read more

Hands down, the best brunch place I have ever been to! We were seated very quickly in about 10 minutes around 11am despite the rush. The service was excellent, and all the servers were very attentive. Seated in the patio area, it was a very nice and airy open space with umbrellas shielding us from the sun. We ordered the Dubai Pancake, Chimichurri Steak and Eggs, Nutella French Toast, and the Strawberry Belgium Waffle. I was not able to take a picture of the Steak and Eggs because we devoured it so quickly! The steak was flavorful and cooked to our preference. We went to Filling Station for an early lunch. We got there around 11 am. There were a number of large parties there to celebrate graduation. We waited for more than half an hour, the hostess announced that the kitchen is backed up with orders, so they won't be seating anyone until the kitchen caught up with their orders. We probably waited for more than an hour before we finally got seated. We got a seat in the patio under the umbrellas, it was cool and breezy, we loved it. We ordered Egg Benedict, classic egg and bacon and hash brown combo, and also a tuna salad sandwich. Food were average, not sure it was worth the wait. Can't go wrong with the steak and eggs with chimichurri sauce! Hefty portion. Steak was slightly overdone (asked for medium but it was more medium well) but still flavorful and juicy. A restaurant I have been anticipating to try and I finally was able to and it did not disappoint! My group and I were seated right away and it was fairly busy for a weekday. Now onto our order: I decided to order the Belgian waffle combo which came with bacon or sausage and eggs your way. 3/23 visit Dine in - Came by during brunch hour around 11-12 noon rush . First off parking is a headache it's in Orange which is street parking .. wait time was 15-0 mins . Only downfall is they have ONLY 1 bathroom .. for that amount of patrons is wild to me . Definitely having a secondary one would help . Very nice spot for brunch! We went here on a Friday morning and there was a short wait. The restaurant had a super cute vibe to it. There is an indoor and outdoor part of the restaurant and we were sat outdoors. They had just added a chair to our table so one of us did have to sit on a regular folding chair which was interesting. If you are looking for an awesome breakfast spot, the Filling Station has you covered. I usually get their specialty pancakes but decided to try their chimichuri steak and eggs. I was very impressed, the steak was perfectly cooked and the chimichuri sauce was so good, adding a nice kick. The portions here are generous and they have plenty of shaded outside seating. I think they are short staffed. They could be better. The hostess was super kind & accommodating with the high chairs and strollers situation but servers not so much. We had toddlers and he kept coming back real quickly to take our orders when we literally just sat and needed time getting situated. But once our food was out, he was no where to be found. And then I saw only 2 servers serving the entire outdoor area and it was packed. Could barely stop someone to ask for the check. Food is just ok. Very typical breakfast food. They have a lovely patio with plenty of heaters and even a table with small fire pits but we didn't sit there. We had a nice table with plenty of room for my pup to be comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient! We ordered pancakes which for my family who are local regulars love their pancakes. I ordered the spinach and Swiss cheese omelette and just had them add mushrooms. The veggie sausages and rye toast were also part of this breakfast combination. The hashbrowns had the the crisp that I enjoy. This meal was all around delicious! They are not yet using credit card readers but that's ok because of their overall efficiency. In this restaurant the pace is quite fast and people come eat and go pretty quickly , don't stay here for too long. There is an indoor and an outdoor area that serves people 7 days a week until 2:30 pm. Outside area might have tents during rain season so don't worry - they got a hang of it and if you feel like coming when it's dripping from the sky - they got you. They have a cool set up, inside and outside seating available, with heat lamps if needed. Service was great, friendly and welcoming. Delicious coffee. I did think that the food was a bit price for what you get. I ordered the French toast breakfast (4 pieces of toast, 2 bacons, and two eggs) for $18.50 I believe. I thought it was expensive, but maybe it is just me. I did enjoy the food and the atmosphere, but no, I was not full with my meal. I still had a great time there. Second time here, since our first experience was bad. So we arrive and get seated quickly. We order our drinks and ice waters. And our food shortly after. Coffee and ice waters came out pretty quick but when i took a sip of coffee, it was unbearably HOT. The cup was very hot to the touch and could not even take a sip of the coffee. About 10 minutes go by and our food comes out but still cannot drink my coffee because it is still hot. We ordered an omelette and huevos rancheros. The omelette was ok, and the sauce on the huevos rancheros tasted like canned tomato sauce, yuk. Needless to say, we will not return.
