The first is probably the most important to anyone reading this - it is that it is still a very…read morereasonably priced method of travel. I also love that I have a table. I can sit at and write or eat something or play a game with someone who is with me instead of having to focus on traffic and being uncomfortable about not being able to change my seating posture for a long trip. I like the fact that I can go get a snack whenever I want to, and start up a conversation with a stranger and to make a new friend. That's what I think you want to hear when you want a review, but I want to tell you another special thing about why I love Amtrak. The sound of the train is something I have loved and that has comforted me from the first time I ever heard it when I was a child, until I bought my first house and discovered that there was a train track right on the other side of a fence that was 8 feet from my house. I learned later that the realtors were supposed to tell you that, but I was young and dumb. I had no idea of that. I was a newlywed and that happened the first night we slept there. It rattled the ground and knocked pictures and clocks off of the walls and terrified my husband and I, thinking it was an earthquake, until we heard the horn. Then we looked at each other and laughed and responded that same way as long as we lived in that house. I missed it for the longest time until many many years later I moved into a senior mobile home park that was nearby a train track, and I was thrilled to hear a train the first night I spent there. I was there five years and smiled every time I heard that that and felt my walls rattle. Between those two experiences, I had a Red Hat Society group for 12 years and we used to take the Amtrak train from Bakersfield to Hanford and spend the day there at different events they put on in the Civic Park, and then Fred the antique fire truck would pick us up and drop us back off at the train station and we would have fun riding home sharing the rolling adventures we had had that day. But the trips there and back themselves were also very fun because there were a few very sweet conductors who played with us and let us take pictures of them with us, and even tried on our hats and let them take pictures of them with us, and that kind of thing. We were a very silly and fun-loving group and we loved that! That's been many many years ago and I wish I could find those pictures...

There is tons of parking. You can just chill at the water fountain on one of the benches and crowd watch. My girls love to go to Rocket Fizz, there is so much cool candy and stuff in there. My eye doctor is part of the Marketplace. Ulta, pilates, Edward's and so much more. Plus they have free concerts going on right now every Thursday. People bring their chairs, coolers and dogs. I love it! There is so much more to say about The Marketplace but it truly speaks for itself!

Through the years businesses have came and went. Some really great businesses. Now the city or whoever owns this area has just let it get run down. I'm writing this review because I just seen a commercial for river lakes shopping area, and it reminded me how the marketplace use to be. Now don't get me wrong, Bakersfield is growing and we are getting a lot more shopping centers. But I'm just wondering why is the city of Bakersfield allowing this place to get run down. Especially because the area it's in. But what can you expect when it started many years ago from the east side heading west. They have allowed new businesses to be built only to forget about them and move on to the next bigger and better projects. Example the movie theater, very run down. The seats suck, the service is horrible, and it sticks as soon as you walk in. The landscape needs to be updated for the whole center. However they do have a few great restaurants. All the great boutiques have left. (I hear the rent/lease is outrageously high), I don't understand why they would put a sola salon next to essentials that has been there forever. Really hope someone starts investing back in to this place.

The game presentation also adds to the fun, with fun intermission activities, promotions, and fan experiences, great yet nearly impossibleto comllete or win,, the arena is easy to get to, get in with more than just one entrance, parking is now horrendous and expensive nearby off N Street, my opinion arrive super early and get street parking, walk to get dinner and then to the stadium.. The venue is generally practical and well organized Ushers do their job well, The main lowlights are that concession foornis mediocre, lines can get long and service can be slow, and the entry process doing a Condors game is restricted to Two Doors into metal detectors, absolutely more time-consuming than necessary because of bag checks, metal detectors, and other rules. These are understood but open more than two doors before game time that would help with the process. Our experience was a great experience up until the Guest services supervisor, showed his butt( not physically but literally), I knew he was a guest services supervisor because he was announced on the ice and was appreciated for doing his job apparently.( this was some sort of staff appreciation night) anyhow he was seated in front of us about four rows ahead with a gardeners hat and a 10" brim, that forced the people who were supposed to sit behind him to move, also he did not sit down during the whole game and was just obnoxious. Not sports arena obnoxious, just obnoxious. The GSS when leaving to walk up the stairs he had to wait, as game was in play, while waiting he was more than obnoxious to the man standing next to him and his lady (while he waited ) he started screaming very cllose to his ear "let's go Condors" less than 3 ft away from the man, I literally butted in and told him to chill and he went further up the stairs to continue yelling let's go condors which is fine but just not in someone's ear anyway, hope I never have to deal with this dude personally because it shows you what kind of person he I believe he felt emboldened because he worked there and he had approximately 20 family members there that day but I can tell just in that moment as a Condors employee he's a problem. If not to anyone else to people he doesn't believe deserves respect because he seems to think he's above them as an employee. Anyway we had a good time the food for me was way too expensive but a friend of mine bought me a $2 hot dog this hot dog wasn't worth 15 cents it seem to be overcooked the bun was soft but too moist for a hot dog to be enjoyed so I decided to leave at the beginning of the third quarter when the Condors were down 3-1 and knew it probably wasn't going to get better as we walked out. I think im psychic .... as we walked up the stairs San Diego Gulls scored another goal which put it at four to one and therefore solidified my exit to go pick up a cheap meal at Taco Bell anyway great experience great energy keep me away from obnoxious people which is kind of hard to do at sports events but I digress Dignity Health Arena seems to be well run and sort of reminded me why I had season tickets in the 2000s. Just hoping I don't have to talk to the guest services supervisor before I'm allowed to buy those tickets that might change my mind..

I had a blast at the Country Night game with my Mom. The outside of Dignity Health is stunning, I love the fountain, spacious plaza, and shiny windows. The entire property is super clean and inviting. I walked in and the Dignity Health event staff were friendly. Everyone had a lovely attitude (minus a gift shop dude) and was very helpful. Our usher/attendant downstairs ( a younger, heavy-set gentleman) was absolutely amazing! He had excellent customer service and was dressed professionally. All ushers had a neat uniform and were instantly recognizable. Our only issue with the venue, is that some of the concourse level is a little bland. It's almost too industrial and needs slightly more color. Thankfully, the arena has plenty of food, concessions stands and pop-ups at almost every corner! We tried the popcorn and it was decent (maybe needs a little more butter). The lady at the popcorn stand was kind. As for main event, we were impressed with the ice, seats, and Jumbotron. I had ample space for my legs and a cushion for my backside. Additionally, I didn't have to squint to see the stats, everything was easy to see from our vantage point. The arena has good lighting and has a family-friendly feel. Shoutout to the family restrooms, those are a lifesaver. Note: Parking on Level 1 of the adjacent parking structure is $20. Parking on every other level (2 and up) is $15. We opted to parking on the second floor as we don't mind walking down the stairs to get to the arena.

I've been going for years and have noticed throughout the years they have done many things to help alleviate the "hurry up and wait" mentality that it use to have. The guy that's in the waiting area when you first get there is so friendly and informative. He's always super nice and willing to answer any questions you may have. Also, the ladies in the back are always smiling and friendly which is nice for those of us that don't mind being there. The addition of the shuttle for the jurors to and from the courthouse is the best idea they've ever come up with because that train is a pain in the you know what when trying to get back from a break on time. It also makes it avoidable to walk under the overpass where the homeless population love to hang out. Actually it seems like they may have cleaned that overpass up because I looked and didn't see any out there this time around. I love the many options available for food during your breaks. That is my favorite aspect of serving. There are so many new and exciting places to eat just on 18th and 19th streets alone. If you choose to venture farther there are even more! Just remember that it is your civil duty to serve and take it a day at a time while there and you will be just fine.
