The market is clean indoors and outdoors and seems very safe to walk in as there's security indoors near the jewelry shops. The outdoor courtyard is beautifully decorated for the winter-Christmas season and it was fun to marvel at the goods, especially the collection of dresses indoors. I had no idea that there was something like this here in Bakersfield. It's like we are just got off a cruise shop and walked into a wonderful shopping area in Mexico. Everyone is so nice starting from a man working the parking lot who guided us to a place to park. Anything and everything is here from food to dresses and cell phone cases to waist clinchers etc. it's a real kick going through the extremely large market. It's very colorful with music and it's a feast for the eyes. I now know where to buy piñatas. I recommend this market as a real fun place to go and shop. This is one of the closest places in town that brings back memories to me of Mexico. It is like a hispanic shopping center super awesome. They can very from clothing, shoes, computer services, medicine, jewelry, beauty salon, and etc. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from. Their pupusa restaurants are delicious, I've been eating them since my childhood. Their boba smoothies and sweets are spot on as well. They also have live music on the weekends. read more

Yes yes and yes. When I lived for a wee while in Bako, I loved this place. I loved the shirts and shoes you could get in this place. You name it, it's all here. I think the translation means "the market place" and that's what it is all pretty much in doors. If you have phones/electronics that need to be fixed, please DO NOT take them to space #19. I believe their business name is G-Mobile from the business cards they distribute. We used to take our phones there all the time because we trusted them for years. My sister's phone recently stopped working so we took it to them. It was supposed to be ready the day we took it. They said it would take an extra day, and another, and another. So we decided to take the phone back and take it to someone else. Once they started working on it to fix it, they told us there were parts missing. Screws were gone, the battery was after market, and so was the charging port. Meaning they stole original parts out of it. We also bought a fire stick from them that was ridiculously expensive because it was "jail broken" and it stopped working and they refused to fix it. We weren't the only people they have done this to. They do this to ALL their customers. Please do not take your electronics to this place. One of the owner's names is Jorge. So ask for him and if he works there, you know you're at the wrong place. read more

I can't believe I lived in Bakersfield for almost 2 years and never came here! I went to visit my in laws last week and while they were gone I was yelping fun places to go.. I came across Mercado Latino and quickly got my love to bring me.. I loved the vibe every thing about it was great.. Parking was a little crazy at first since there are so many people looking for parking at the same time but eventually after about 5 minutes we were parked in front of the indoor place.. we went inside, they sell fun things it looks like an indoor swampmeet.. but the real fun was when we reached the end I thought ok it was nice let's go back lol but then we saw there was an outside area with restaurants, place to chill, music, and more little stores. I wish I had more time to stay longer. Next time I'm in the area I'm gonna go a little bit more fixed up and probably Uber it cuz it's definitely a place to drink and have lots of fun read more

The ladies at the store where they sell waist trainers have really bad customer service, I currently order a complete waist trainer and said it would take a week for it to arrive I waited the week, and I went to go pick it up today. And the lady said that She was sorry but there was not the size I had ordered and I said well give me my money back she changed the subject and called the company to see if there was the size ai wanted they said yes and she said Im sorry I will order it and it will be here on thursday. I said no and she said well I cannot give you the money and I said why if you did not have my order on time, we went on to argue. But, I decided I was going to be the better person and just let it go. And adapt to the situation because she has my money. But never again will I buy from her !!!!!!! read more

The shops are south of the border in style (but cleaner), as are the selection of goods for sale. Outside there's live music and food. Get a tower of beer and one of the much too big menu items (Was that a fish looking at me from that bowl of soup?) and soon you won't care what that band is singing about. Love going to Mercado latino for the live music and drinks on the weekends but who I really dislike are two certain security guards. They're very annoying and make us feel uncomfortable when we go. It's like us having fun with my family bothers them and they make it obvious that they're watching us and my family, They even page each other when they see us! Like heeeellloooo calm the hell down because you are obviously not a police officer, you are just a security guard ok. I grew up going here every single weekend with my family. It used to be a nice place for families to go hang out , but now it's over crowded with young high school kids having fun which is not a bad thing, I mean Banda Saturday's are cool , just different . Upon a couple of recent visits, and as someone who would visit often with his family when I was younger, I can honestly say this place isn't worth your time. It's comparable to Little Tokyo in LA, in the sense that it's not really a shopping center, or mall, but rather a haven for Mexican culture. If you don't speak any Spanish, good luck getting service. There are about six window tinting shops on the outskirts that are all charging the same price, $79. One even goes as far as to claim that it's their "special price", "SOLO ESA SEMANA! SOLO $79! ESPECIAL!" It really isn't a special if everyone else is charging that price. And that describes every business inside the area. Every business here either sells cheap clothes bought from some slums in Los Angeles, to snacks, or restaurants. There is a computer store, that sells desktops that you can't even find in Walmart anymore for it's original price, they have an original Xbox One with a pricetag of $499, the original price of the console, while you can find it for half that price at Walmart, Target, and other near stores. My point being, not many of the small businesses price adjust their merchandise. They sort of just leave them on their counters in hopes to one day sell them for their price. Everything from the door handles, to the faucets in the restrooms are mismatched, which gives the place a really cheap, slummy look. The northwest parking lot looks like someone just drew a couple of lines on the asphalt, and said "looks good to me." You'll find your car halfways in the parking space, and halfways in the lane for oncoming vehicles, and I don't even feel safe leaving my car parked there for more than 10 minutes. My recent visit saw a shirtless, intoxicated man break the windows on his truck and scream at his wife and kids. There is always typically someone getting detained by security in the afternoons. This place isn't for the younger crowd, as typical customers are aged 30-70. And when you see someone younger, it's going to be a 20 year old in a base, single-cab last-year model Chevy Silverado blasting coridos. The restaurants are mediocre Mexican restaurants, but their drinks do look appealing. read more

It's a great place but I had an awful experience with the Beauty Salon inside. A lady that was doing nails simply had a nasty attitude really unsatisfied with their service. I do not understand why she decided to be rude when all she is doing is hurting the business and losing customers. read more
