I attended an opening for the new art display at the Continental Club Gallery recently. It was my…read morefirst time visiting this spot in Greensboro, and it was a fun time. Housed in part of an old mill, it makes for an incredibly unique space. The club is broken up into two spaces, a gallery and the bar. The bar is incredibly eclectic, with so much fun and interesting decor to look at. The bar also has a full bar, though the drink prices are on the higher side. The bar tender was very friendly and quick at getting drinks made. They also have a full size piano for music, and I'm told other performers will also bring their own instruments for events to have live music. The parking lot is a bit tight, and shared spots with the Back Table. So some may need to find street parking depending on the size of the event. They don't serve food and my only real complaint is about the lighting. They have a lot of red and blue lights, which may be apparent based on the photos, but when it comes to looking at art, it may be hard to see because of the distortion from the lighting.

We went for a private party and loved the eclectic vibe. This is a funky place like no other I know of in Greensboro. Live music is featured regularly and I am planning to come over for that. Look for upcoming events and see what they've done with the place.

Thanks to Ron W., I was able to attend a sneak peak preview of Raleigh's newest VIP space, The…read moreVoodoo Room. The extra secret, private room is located upstairs in The Big Easy, down a back hallway through an ominous door labeled "staff only". This isn't a space that you can just walk into (now that you know where it's located), rather it's a private venue space, charging $300/6 hours on Fridays and Saturdays with a $500 minimum bar tab and $100/6 hours Sunday-Thursday with a $300 minimum bar tab. The small space includes a New Orleans voodoo theme complete with voodoo dolls and bare breasted fortune tellers (in photos). Your party is invited to enjoy the velvet couches and hairs artfully placed around the room and has access to a private bar (and bartender). I love the back wall, with photo windows viewing Salisbury Street and a huge wooden bench seat. Rebecca and her husband Steve, the owners of The Big Easy, created this space to throw a rocking New Years Eve party, and they're inviting locals to use it during the year. Rebecca hired a fortune teller for our VIP night, but options are practically unlimited for what you want to bring in (bachelorette party strippers?!) The room is pricy to rent, but the intention is to get in a "classier" group of people that will keep the space up (however, there's definitely room for a dance party in the room, think old Bee Hive tightness). The best part: that VIP feeling as you are personally led up to the room by a manager, it was VERY speakeasy and secretive!

Short review here because we didn't stay long. We have come here several times and though a little…read morepricey for what you get for the price (small portions of food or average cocktails they are trying to create something different). The cocktails are kinda of craft artisan with fresh ingredients and some creative combinations. But the low score is simply for watching the youngish female bartender make our drinks while continuously vaping (literally making them one handed so she could vape with her other hand) and blowing exhaled vape all over our drinks and the bar itself. The thing that bothered us the most was that it wasn't hidden and the other workers saw her doing it including the chef/manager or owner. Then, the kitchen started playing very loud music which seemed out of place but more so that it was feuding with the restaurant music and making conversation impossible. I'm all for a good track of Judas Priest at loud volumes but... This place a couple years ago was great, but the service has taken a bit of a drop and the prices have crept up quite a bit as well.

Instead of addressing feedback respectfully, they chose to respond with personal attacks, profanity, and an aggressive tone. This kind of behavior from a business owner is not only inappropriate but completely unacceptable. It sadly confirms the poor experience we had and reinforces why I would not recommend this establishment to others. Extremely Disappointed - Would Not Return I rarely leave reviews, but our experience at The Beagle in Pittsboro was truly upsetting. The service was the worst we've encountered in a long time. My mom waited over an hour for a drink she ordered, and when she politely asked to cancel the cocktail and just get a beer instead, the young blonde waitress shockingly called her a "bitch" and refused to continue serving us. We were stunned--not only by the unprofessionalism, but by the complete lack of accountability from anyone else working there. No manager stepped in. No apology was offered. As for the food: it was mediocre at best. Small portions, bland flavors, and certainly not worth the prices they charge. Absolutely unacceptable service, and sadly, nothing about the food made up for it. We won't be back--and we suggest others think twice before dining here.
