In order to re-gain coverage on my car my insurer required an inspection and the closest agent they recommended was Auto Depot. I drove over there one day and walked up into the office. It turns out that the business was officially closed while they did inventory (and I think some staff were on vacation). Despite that, when they found out I needed an insurance inspection they grabbed the paperwork and a camera and took care of me. I was pleasently surprised that they did this while "closed" since I don't think inspections for insurance companies are a big money maker. A few months later (and after dumping the vespa on a street one day thanks to a wet manhole cover) I brought the scooter to them to see if they could repair a couple of dents and a lot of paint scratches. After taking some gentle ribbing about owing a scooter (I think some of the staff are serious motorcycle heads) they gave me a price estimate and told me it may take a few days of work since they'd have to custom match and mix the paint. At that point one of the owners offered to give me a ride back to Roslindale Village where I could easily walk or grab a bus back home to my house. They were unable to get official Vespa paint so they used some sort of optical scan gun to read the colors and generate the info they needed to have a shop mix up a custom batch. The end result was fantastic - except for some scratches on some chrome bits that I don't care about they fixed all the dents and matched the scooter paint *exactly* when repairing the body scratches. The final price was exactly what they had estimated as well - no surprises. So in summary: * They opened the shop just to perform an insurance inspection on my car * An owner drove me to Rozzie Village after I dropped off my scooter * They mixed custom paint when fixing the scooter and did great bodywork * The paint/bodywork estimate was exactly what I ended up paying Obviously this is just my $.02 but they've earned my loyalty and I'll be bringing the car back there some time to get some body panel scratches fixed. -chris

I called Auto Depot as soon as I got to town and they were able to get me right in. The service was incredible. Friendly, upfront staff. Not only fixed my car through the insurance claim but also a handful of other things, like an oil change and brakes. They're an all-service shop, which is really helpful. They were also able to somehow get my deductible lowered, which was really awesome and unexpected. My only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that I had also asked them to check my wipers and they forgot but that's really not a big deal. I'll call them and take it back in at some point, but really not a big deal. Overall, I think I've found my new favorite body shop. I would highly recommend them.

Sometimes businesses with high Yelp ratings disappoint, leading one to hypothesize that they must've paid some "reputation management" outfit to inflate their numbers through the use of shill reviews by AI-generated sock-puppet accounts. (Yelp tries to combat that but there's only so much they can do given today's scale of shady internet shenanigans.) Well this is one place that totally does deserve all its glowing feedback! This place turns out to be an owner-operated business, and I dealt directly with the owner who was a both very knowledgeable and relatable young man, I'm guessing in his mid 30s tops. The other two employees I interacted with were similarly very pleasant and helpful folks...none of the gruff or sullen vibes you often encounter from service workers in this region. When I told them that I would be going out of town in a few days, they expedited the work so that my car would be ready just in time---and most impressively, they kept me updated on its status (via both text messaging and email) nearly every day until I came back to pick it up! Not only was the work done flawlessly making the car look brand new, but they even gave it a free car wash AND full interior detailing! (It had been covered in road salt/grime from a recent snowstorm and I had not vacuumed the inside for almost a year, lol---so they got their money's worth from whatever car wash place they must've taken it to, lol.) I only wish EVERY business could be as damn near perfect as these folks, let alone car-related businesses! Sierra at South Medford Auto Body took over for me like an absolute queen and was able to tell off the insurance company, get my car fixed, and make sure I had zero down time without a fully covered vehicle. The estimates were also different in details - the labor hourly rate was the lowest (charging a private customer the same as what insurance would accept) and the emphasis is on repair rather than simply replace. I worked with Siera (the owner) the entire time, and she's very easy, professional, courteous to work with. When they identified additional damage inside, she sent photos and explained what is needed, what can be repaired, and what may not be essential. Very easy to work with. They also have an agreement with Enterprise Car Rental across the street for inexpensive/easy rental during the repair. For those of us who don't know much about cars (and especially not about body repairs), it's really important to work with someone/a business that you can trust, and that is also helping you to save a few dollars whenever possible - and South Medford/Siera definitely does that. Highly recommended if you do have to get body repair done! Oh, they also washed the car even though they had to stay late on Saturday to finish it. Really appreciate it.

After being a customer here for the past 3-4 years for routine maintenance and inspections, I never…read moreexpected to have an experience this frustrating. We dropped our car off Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m. and were told we would receive a text and email with the inspection results and estimated repair cost. We waited all day. Around 4:30 p.m., I called to check on it, only to find out they had already closed. Apparently, no one thought it was important to mention that my car would be staying there overnight. So, because of their lack of communication, I spent the entire weekend without my car, was essentially stranded, and had to miss plans I had already made. Not because there was some major unexpected repair taking days to complete--but because apparently no one thought to pick up the phone and tell me they weren't returning my vehicle. I received the estimate Sunday morning and immediately responded. I even drove down there, only to find out they were closed until Monday. Monday morning came and went. No response to my email. No response to my phone call. Finally, around 2:30 p.m., I called again. And this is where the customer service really took a turn. Instead of an apology or even an acknowledgment that keeping someone's car all weekend without telling them might be, you know, inconvenient, I was told I should have told them when I dropped the car off that I needed it back that day. Apparently, when you drop your car off at 10:30 on a Saturday, you are now expected to specifically announce that you would like to have your car back sometime before Monday. Good to know. They also told me the website references them being closed on Sundays, but it also said they are closed on Saturdays which is not true. So not much of a valuable source. I was also told I should have called earlier Saturday to find out what was happening. Because apparently the customer is responsible for chasing down the service department all day to find out whether their own vehicle is being returned. Meanwhile, I still haven't gotten a satisfactory explanation for the actual repair issue. They replaced my muffler in 2023, and now, only about 15,000 miles later, I'm being told it needs to be replaced again. I asked a very reasonable question: Why? Was the part defective? Was there an issue with the installation? What caused it to fail so quickly? I still don't have a clear answer. And then there's the $75 inspection fee. I was repeatedly reminded that they were doing me a "courtesy" by not charging the full $150 inspection fee. After being left without my vehicle for the weekend and receiving essentially zero communication, that "courtesy" didn't feel particularly generous. I completely understand that repairs take time. I understand that businesses get busy. I understand that sometimes a vehicle can't be finished when expected. What I don't understand is why communicating that to a customer seems to be so difficult. A simple phone call Saturday saying, "We won't be able to get this back to you today, so we'll need to keep it until Monday," would have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I was left without my car all weekend, missed plans, had to chase them down for information, and then was told that the whole situation was essentially my fault because I didn't specifically ask for my car back that day. I've been a loyal customer for years, but this experience has seriously changed my opinion. The repair itself is one issue. The way a customer is treated when something goes wrong tells you much more about a business. If you value your time, your transportation, and basic communication from the people working on your vehicle, I would think twice before using this service department.
