He called Craftsmen (the maker of the garage opener I had). Well after 45 minutes of being on hold with Craftsmen the technician decided I needed a brand new garage opener. So my price went from $250 to $323 and some change. I lost my keypad to get in the garage (mind you this is my mom's house). I really feel like I got the short end of the stick on this one. Also my old opener was 3/4 horsepower to now 1/2 horsepower. I'm really thinking I got screwed.

I explained that I needed to discuss the price with my wife after she finished work at the hospital. He then offered to do it for $250, but I still wanted to speak with her before agreeing. He later offered to fix the door and install the remote for $100 cash without involving the company. I agreed to pay $100 if he fixed it. After about 5-10 minutes, he said the motor needed to be replaced and quoted $299 to install a new one. I told him my wife and I would discuss buying a motor that evening and contact him the next day. He then demanded the $100 as a diagnostic fee. I had asked for a free estimate, and no diagnostic fee had been disclosed to me before the visit. The garage door was not fixed. We disagreed about the payment, and he called the police. After a lengthy discussion, I paid the $100. I'm sharing my experience so other customers can ask for all fees and the scope of work in writing before the technician begins. I would like the company to explain why I was charged $100 after being told the estimate was free and to refund that payment.

I called them to arrange for garage door maintenance and they sent someone the same day. They send you a text when the technician is on the way and his name. My technician, Blake, arrived right on time. Blake did a very thorough and professional job. My garage door had become noisy so he checked everything and ended up replacing the springs and the rollers. He checked the opener itself and lubricated it. He lubricated the hinges in the door. The result was a very quiet open and close, and I was very happy. This family owned business is one of the best in the Dallas area and deserves support. They do what they say and offer excellent service.
