I had an extremely uninhabitable apartment that needed a full clean-out, and 1st Helpers Junk Removal exceeded my expectations. Billy came by on Tuesday to provide a bid, and the very next morning he and his crew arrived on time and got straight to work. The job was completed shortly after noon, which was impressive given the condition of the apartment. Billy and his staff were professional, dependable, efficient, and reasonably priced. They worked quickly but thoroughly and handled everything with care. I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone needing a serious clean-out done right. read more

Hello- I live in Decatur AL. When I am looking for a service, I usually look up three to four contractors to get a few estimates before I make any decisions The first call I made was to 1st Helpers. After I heard this young mans voice, he was very polite, comfortable, and easy to talk to, with a very warm voice. Something told me, STOP looking, no need to look any farther, because of our cell phone chat. I'm glad I trusted my instinct, In today's time, where you either have to work a business shorthanded or alone, this company not only showed up, his crew was out sick and it was only the owner that showed up. His crew was out sick and it was only the owner that showed up. I was the one that was skeptical. I said to him "Son we can reschedule it would not be a problem" he said "no ma'am this is what I do" This company took my little house, bed & mattress, chestier drawer, carpets, all junk and all junk related stuff in between, (a lot) and all that was harboring bad odor, including the carpet and its raw ugly smells (Yuck) When that company left my little house, (we call the outside house the little house) the company took its nasty smelly smell with it, and now it is absolutely 100% fresh again- I was almost in tears (The Owner) 1st Helper went far and beyond to give me back my little house again- Ive added 1st Helpers to my 1st contact list from this point forward- Thank you 1st Helpers you made my work after your clean up so much more easier and I can move forward with the rest of my little house plans... Then they gave me a quote. I scheduled a date and time for the move. The guys showed up with a big truck on the day of the move. They were friendly and assured me that the items will be loaded and moved safely. They handled the statues with care and carried them to the backyard and placed them where I wanted. The whole process was smooth and the movers were genuinely willing to help. Their moving costs were pretty reasonable. I am glad that I found reliable help with my moving needs. During the move, my walls were dented and damaged, my door was damaged, my couches and chairs were damaged, my $1,500 Frame TV was damaged, and several other furniture items were damaged as well. What made the situation even more frustrating was the company's response afterward. I documented the damages and provided photos, but the manager only offered a $750 credit for the TV while refusing to take responsibility for many of the other damages. I am still left paying approximately $1,400 for the move, plus the cost of repairing my walls and replacing or repairing damaged furniture. The company also claimed that my furniture was wrapped during the move, which is simply not true. None of my furniture was wrapped by their crew. Only my TVs were covered with blankets when they were picked up. Instead of working toward a fair resolution, I was told through text message that the $750 was the most they would do. Moving into a new home should be exciting, not stressful and expensive because of preventable damage. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.
