In July of 2019, we moved to Baltimore's Federal Hill area. This was my first experience with inner city living and I truly loved it. One of the necessities of city living, is having some type of security system for your home. I researched several companies and decided upon a highly recommended one, in First Security. First we met the sales representative, Jeremy, who was quite knowledgable about his competition and of course his company. He shared the differences First Security offered and every one of his points of contention were quite valid. I believed his straight forwardness and honest approach and agreed to utilize their services. Now the installation. Larry Conner was their man. This man had so much knowledge about his company, the alarm company they work with and every little detail one could ever ask for. He had the entire system set up in about an hour and completely covered every detail of their system. I was totally able to turn off, or turn on any part of their alarm from anywhere in the world. That was truly a feature we just loved. In early December we returned to our home, to find we had no heat in the upstairs of our home. Since the entire heating system had just been installed, we were totally baffled why this was happening. Was it our alarm installation? Did the installation effect the heating system? We called Larry to discuss the situation. He agreed to come back to the house to check out his installation and to be sure it wasn't caused by him. In an extremely professional manner, Larry explained why it couldn't be caused by the new security installation. He was so concerned that we didn't have heat, he called us at least 4-5 times during the week to see if we found the cause. That was far beyond his job description, but we truly appreciated his concern. We finally discovered by an electrician, that the wiring for our upstairs heating system was done incorrectly and the original gentleman who installed it, came back to repair the problem. I have now worked with 1st security for both on my homes. The staff really work hard to make sure that you are totally satisfied with your install, as well as troubleshooting or addressing anything that comes up along the way. For me it's those two things that really stand out. Customer service and "it just works." In terms of customer service, it's hard to do better. The company's response time to questions is very fast. That's pretty much what you want. As for "it just works," the Alarm.Com system and equipment they are a dealer for really gives you peace of mind. It's actually secure. The monitoring is essentially useless. The company will bind you in a 3-year contract. At the end of the contract they wont cancel it. In spite of what they told me two months before upon an inquiry I made. Instead they continued to debit my account. There is no way to stop it from your bank. Be aware of the scam and of their lies. When I cancelled with a form that I have to fill out, there was no acknowledgement. They still debited my bank account. They argued that there was a 3 days cancellation policy; this 3 months after my 3 year contract has ended. I have to yell for them to promise a refund for only 1 month. I am holding my breath. If this goes on, I will take them to court. read more

Absolutely love our security system! Larry was great from the initial appointment and on installation day. He explained everything he was doing and made sure to walk us through how to use our system both from the monitor and from our phone app. We got a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, window and door sensors, plus two outdoor cameras. The video quality is amazing, we get updates anytime the camera senses movement and we can watch from our app. On the second day of having our system I forgot to disarm it when entering the house and it set off the alarm, we got a phone call immediately making sure we were ok... then they even sent us a card! Great customer service. So happy we went with them over the other security systems available. Also, it's pretty affordable. read more

Great company to deal with. Totally customer focused. My wife was not comfortable with me installing our security system myself, so internet based alarm companies were a no go. Upon closing on my new townhome in Alexandria, VA, I was contacted by ADT trying to sell me an alarm system package. They used pressure sales, similar to time-share presentations if you've ever been to one of those, stating if I didn't purchase by 11 pm that night then the deal they were offering would go away. I don't know why businesses use that tactic - a product's offerings should stand on their own without resorting to such bullying. For the next two months, I scoured the internet reading reviews. As this was my first home purchase, I new I didn't want a DIY so I could guarantee the install was done correctly and ensure the safety of my home. 1st Security USA had tremendous reviews, and, their (conducted by Jeremy) in-home presentation was very informative and helpful, without the pressure tactics. The next day, I signed with 1st Security USA and I couldn't be happier with that decision. The ability to remotely turn on and off my alarm from anywhere has been a big help when I've left the house and forgotten to activate. Additionally, I can tell my the few times that I inadvertently opened a door or window with the system activated, the sensor capabilities are top-notch. The third-party monitoring firm, Dynamark, has also provided great support - calling immediately upon activation of alarms and ensuring my family is not in danger. The hand-written notes I receive from them was a nice touch. My experience with 1st Security was about the best you could have with a security company. From the initial walkthrough assessment through to installation and follow up, Larry and team were on point on every occasion. The 3rd party camera installers were also wonderful and Larry showed up in the middle of the installation just to see how things were going and give me a personal tutorial on how to configure and monitor the cameras via mobile app and internet. They were neat and tidy, always being conscious of our carpets and walls. It's an absolutely professional looking job yet the cost was significantly lower than I was quoted from other companies. Our system is also professionally monitored by Dynamark, who were lightning fast in responding to the one false alarm we've had so far (it was our fault and more to come I'm sure, LoL). I am in looooveee with my security system!! In these times, it's all about convenience and peace of mind and this is exactly what this security system gives you. I can do literally everything from my phone. I can adjust my thermostat, lock my door, activate/deactivate my alarm plus tons more. To top it off, it's very affordable. I got my security system installed by this company earlier this year after doing some in depth research. First off their monitoring company rocks. They are local and when something goes off they call within seconds to make sure everything is ok. I needed a system that allowed home automation so that I didn't have to keep using multiple applications. Their alarm.com solution ties everything in. My blinds are controlled by alarm.com, light switches, even found a way to integrate with my Logitech harmony remote. I saved thousands of dollars vs going with control4 all thanks to 1st Security USA. Oh and thanks Amazon for alarm.com app where I can pull cameras off Amazon Fire. read more

I recently had a system installed in my condo. I did a lot of research in order to decide which company to go with since my ADT contract was up. I think initially what I liked about this company was the touch screen keypad (scrolls pictures while the keypad is idle) that was much better looking than my current system. I also got the door locks so that I only have to use a code to get in. I'm paying less than what I paid with ADT and feel like I'm getting a lot more. Run as fast as you can from these guys. I have been cheated out of close to $700.00 from this company. I will report them to the BBB, the news and legal. I paid them monthly only to find out if I had an alarm to go off they were not notifying the police. They have reportedly said I had no permit with PG County but I called and verified that I had a permit. Upon telling them that I do have a permit, they have refused to refund me my money. The payment given to this company was for the security of my home and my family. Once I found out I was not receiving service I was paying for my heart dropped. Not just the money but the fact that I laid in my home and left my children there without the that extra layer of security I thought I had. On top of this hey tried to force me to stay with them after I brought this to their attention. 3rd, the service was beyond POOR!! The individuals calling you were always waking up from sleeping (mom&pop). The alarm would go off, I would cut it off and they would call an hour later. They had no maintenance plan. They would get smart with you if you called with a concern or if something was not working correctly, never wanted to come out to service the system. The guy Jeremy came out once and could not fix the problem, as he left my home he just said - call Larry; this incident took months and I mean months to resolve. . I filed a dispute about the payments only to find out They are not 1st Security, they are Dynamark monitoring who I would have never purchased services from ever. Every time I would say I'm leaving or moving on, Larry would say, oh you can't we have you under contract - I would tell him, no longer am I under contract and I'm leaving. At that point his smart attitude would change. When I now stated I'm leaving, they offered me a new system telling me the reason I'm having problems and the system is working badly is because the system is outdated and they need to install one that works - what? Huh?? All I can say is you are being cheated, their cost is crazy high and they know they did me bad therefore I feel they are money hungry to keep my funds knowing they did not provide they service I signed up for through their sales person - Larry. I'm writing this because I feel no one should be ripped off. I want to make people aware. I believe in doing people right. Yes, I'm pissed because my family had no security. I can't stop thinking about the danger. Why do we get a security system - for safety and I'm HOT I was duked I will not ever forgive them for this....never. I RATE this business ZERO!! There was no pressure to make a decision right away. The next day I called Jeremy and decided to go with the basic package (I may upgrade in the future). They were able to come in 2 days to install the security system. Larry installed my security system and although I was late, he was very pleasant, kind, and patient.
