It's the week of getting house stuff done before I go on vacation. So my door has been drafty, creaky, and crooked for a while, but I finally decided to get it addressed. Right after putting in an inquiry on here, I got a message and then a phone call not long after that. I scheduled for the 2-4pm time frame for someone to come and give me a free estimate, and two guys showed up at 1:53pm. I was surprised, because I was told I would get a text, but I didn't. It didn't work in their system for some reason, I saw him try in front of me. But it was a pleasant surprise, I was available! Their names were Elmer and Kingston. They assessed the door, told me what they would have to do to fix it, gave me the honest price point, and asked me whether I wanted to hold off or have it done immediately. I decide to just get it done, and so I asked them to hold on for me to secure my cats so they wouldn't run outside. They literally had to take the door off of the hinges! They used that time to go grab tools and a patiently waited for me to let them know when my cats were secured. The job didn't take that long, I didn't actually time it.... Maybe about 40 minutes? They were efficient and really did their thing. So now, my door is fixed and I'm ready to go on vacation. They aren't the closest geographically, but they do serve the entire area. I needed a replacement key fob for my Subaru and tried ACE Hardware first. They couldn't program the new fob (apparently they don't have Subaru approved programming equipment). I called to get a price for a new key fob from a Subaru dealer and was told a new fob with programming would be over $600. Plus, they would have to order the key fob would delay me getting a new key fob several days. After an Internet search I decided to call Advanced Security. Not only did they have the right key fob in stock, they came to my house with it. In about 15 minutes everything was done. I was amazed by their service , plus I paid about half of what the dealer wanted to charge me. I highly recommend Advanced Security based upon my experience with them. read more

Very disappointed with our experience with this company. We called about getting deadbolts added to our new home and they said there was a locksmith nearby who could come right away. We thought that was great. Turns out, the locksmith works for another company. He did not install the deadbolts properly, he did not install strike plates. When we noticed and called back, this original company did not take responsibility because the locksmith does not work for them directly and the locksmith is asking for more money to install the strike plates (which should be standard). Save yourself the headache and hire a more reputable company. read more

My complaint revolves around this company's failure to inform me that there was a $155 charge just to send someone out, regardless of whether they do anything or not when I made the appointment. I would not have made the appointment had I been told that. The technician, who was very nice, was at our home for 8 minutes, only to confirm something that we knew: that the key was stuck in the cylinder and would not turn. He could not solve the problem, and did not mention anything about the charge to come out, nor did he have me sign anything. Later that day, we got a call that we owed $155 for the visit. We had used this same company 19 months previously to re-key all the locks on our house, and they claimed that because of that visit, and because "of the standard charge in the industry", that I should have known that the fee to make the appointment was $155. They went back and checked the phone recording of the appointment I made, and admitted that the person making the appointment did not inform me of the charge, but claimed that "it is the customer's responsibility to ask what the visit charge will be". When I called to complain that the fee was incredibly excessive for what was done ($1162.50/hour!), the business manager, who was extremely argumentative (at this point, admittedly so was I, but no insults, cursing, or name calling was done by either side) grudgingly reduced the fee to $90, saying "that was an awesome deal, otherwise I would have to pay $155 and court fees if they send it to collections". I said that was still $675/hour, and felt it remained unreasonable (I was not expecting the visit to be free, and was willing to be flexible). She insisted she gives "excellent customer service", but refused to answer my question: "Do you think it is excellent customer service to not inform a customer what the fee is for someone from your company to come out?". In fact, she answered my question with a question (always a poor thing to do in customer relations):  "Don't you think a customer needs to ask a company how much it costs to send someone out?". I do not, and everyone I know who I have related this incident to does not either. I will not be using this company again, primarily because they had evidence that I was correct that I was not informed of the charge when I made the appointment, but spinned the story to lay the blame on me. That's dishonest, and I am not interested in giving business to a company that bullies their customers. read more

While they were extremely prompt and good about sending their technician out, unfortunately my frustration was with their technician. They discounted the price for lockout service from $140 to $50 to be fair, but I took the following damages: my tint on the driver's side is torn and will need to be replaced (it was a $280 tint job so I'm hoping one window won't be that bad), my paint on the door at the top (where the technician inserted his device) is completely scratched off down to the surface. My rear window and the paint outside above it were also scratched. I requested that he pop open my trunk latch since my keys were locked in there. He insisted he wanted to try the door handle and then the door lock first. After many attempts, that's where the damage to my car happened. In all I've probably accrued about at least $100 worth of damages (depending on what they quote for paint.) I've attached some photos for consideration. He worked on my car for about 45 minutes total. Overall okay if you don't care about your car getting damaged in the process. Honestly, I would have rather waited for someone with better tools, but I guess I learned my lesson. read more

(I literally called 7 businesses!) $69 to come out to my home $16 installation fee and instead of replacing my broken in pieces lock he only replaced the part he needed to which was $28! I lost the key to my vehicle last week and called advanced. My replacement key was $240, which is fine. When Alex came to make my key he was very polite and professional however the key that was given to me only started my ignition and did not open the door to my car. Alex told me to go to the shop the next day to get the key fixed which I did and I had no problem doing. Although if I'm paying the same amount as others who receive a key that works the same day I feel some sort of discount should have been given on the key. Once I went to the shop I waited patiently for atleast 30 minutes if not more. When I received my key back attached was a second key, one key opened the door and the other started the ignition . Everyone was very nice, as they should be since I was charged full price for keys that didn't work on my vehicle. The gentleman told me to call Alex the next day (third day) to get another key that I would receive at a discount. He was very patient and helpful given the circumstances. He assured us that he was taking every possible measure to help us feel safe. My car needed a new locking system. I searched for car key replacement and found this place and went with them after seeing reviews. My experience was amazing. They called and arrived well under the time frames that they gave me. I came here for a spare set of keys a few weeks ago and found that the shop was well-staffed with attentive, experienced locksmiths and technicians. Had to get a second key fob for my 2015 Ford Focus. It's push-button start only so I can't simply get a key cut like back in the 90's as everyone knows these days. Called my local dealer and was quoted an astounding $330.00 plus tax for just one fob! And they didn't even have them in stock! Considered not getting a second one because of the outrageous price but Googled local locksmiths and found Advanced as a top rated business with good reviews. Gave the store a call, was greeted by a pleasant voice, and explained my issue and was told it shouldn't be an issue. Got my keys and headed out the door hoping for some good news. Arrived at the store and talked to the man at the front counter who said he should be able to program the fob and even had one in stock! He grabbed his fob programmer and headed out the door and came back within minutes saying he had it done. Went out and tried both fobs to make they both worked and sure enough they did! We had a service call that was not completed correctly. They came to fix a piece of our door that had fallen off. After spending several hours trying to repair it the finally attached it back to the hinge. Next morning the piece had fallen off again. I called in and spoke to Limor which is very rude and should not be in customer service. She said they did not install the door so they can not warranty anything that is related to the door. A remarkable experience from beginning to end with this group of true professionals. They pulled an antique heirloom safe from a row house basement, up the narrow back steps, out of the back alley and delivered it to my house about 40 miles away. It was not an easy job, but they made it look easy with a firm knowledge of there equipment and the engineering and mechanics involved in the task at hand. They were careful with the safe and surrounding house and structures. When I first considered moving the safe, most people told me it was impossible, too much trouble, or turned me down entirely. If you would like to be treated disrespectfully, overtasked, and condescendingly this is the company that will do all of that. I called because they had fixed my garage door and today it malfunctioned. The dispatchers informed there is only one person who fixes garage doors and she would not be able to schedule until 10 days later. This was an issue because the garage door was stuck open and presented a security issue. What I had hoped and she could not hear was that in this age of electronic communication that the technician could call and I could send a picture, Instead she kept repeating that she could not take him off of a $100,000.00 job. That was never requested and if the person had paused to listen instead of overtaking the requested remedy could have been heard. When it was pointed out that our tones did not match and that she said "I'm from New Jersey not Baltimore and that's the way we talk." Still not sure what that comment meant. This could have been easily resolved if the dispatcher had listened. Telephones, cell phones, text messages, etc. still work. It was not the delay in scheduling it was the lack of communication--you can't hear when you don't listen. read more

It was just starting to get cold and I needed a remote start key fob. They were so helpful, I didn't even know the brand of the starter (it was already installed when I bought the truck). The person helping me found the brand, got me a fob, and programmed it within a half an hour. From what I saw they also had a great selection of safes and locks. They copied a flip key with fob for my 2012 Mazda 3 after one was misplaced. I am happy with the service.

I have two Honda cars that the immobilizers were acting up. The Honda dealer said they would have to reprogram the entire car to the tune of $250 each. So instead I ordered the exact genuine Honda programmable blank keys off eBay for a very very small amount. And had these guys program and cut the keys for less than 150 for both. One key was so worn they had to look up the exact number too and were able to get it fit better than new. Granted the drive isn't that easy from nw dc. But just go during the day when traffic is light and you're golden. Great shop, highly recommend them. :) read more

I agree with the comments from Patrice because it reflects my experience. This company sucks at communications. I am certain they must be good at some things but dealing with a new customer is not one of them. I requested a quote for installing a security system and per their website I sent the request to their info@ampmlock.com. After about a week... still no response and of course I checked the spam folder. So I called and got the dispatcher who said his name was Jack. He told me to re-send my request to a different email and I included my phone number. The next day still no response to my second email. So I called AGAIN. Jack said he could send a tech out the next day and would call me. No one called or showed up. So I called AGAIN. Jack says he could not schedule a tech but failed to leave me a voice mail. The bottom line is their email apparently does not work and Jack the dispatcher must be mentally challenged. I would not hire these people if you paid me. Thankfully, such incompetence is rare. My message to this company is, if you cannot help me that is fine - just say so! I would recommend prospective customers try any other company. read more
