I have been a Vivant customer for 3 years. I would never do business with them again. I just spent 1 hour and 22 minutes on the phone trying to cancel my service. I have never had an experience like this. I was transferred 6 times, processed my request 2 times, and was offered "discount deals to stay over 20 times on the call. It's sad their employees have to follow forced scripts and transfer customers like they do. I had a similar experience earlier when I needed to move the equipment and found out for the 1st time I had actually purchased equipment and committed to 36 months. I've been a customer for over 10 years. I called and scheduled an appointment to moved my Vivint equipment to my new home. The technician was supposed to arrive between 12 noon and 4pm. No one showed up so I called Vivint and a CSR named Chris explained to me that "things happen" and that the technician could be stuck in traffic, or running late. Despite repeated calls and requests, they continue to charge me every single month with no resolution in sight. Every attempt to fix this turns into the same exhausting cycle: long hold times, endless transfers, and then, rather than actually helping, another sales pitch for services I've already made clear I do not want. Two weeks ago, I called and scheduled an appointment with ViVint to reinstall two cameras after the work on my house was completed. My appointment was scheduled for 04/30/2026 @ 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Last night, I chatted with someone and was told that my appointment was moved to 05/01/2026 @3:30 a.m., which would be when I would be asleep. I called the company directly to find out why my appointment was changed, and I wasn't informed of this. However, the representative stated that my appointment was for 04/30/2026 and that she will email the Tech to see their ETA to my house. After being put on hold for about 6 minutes, the representative came back and stated that the Tech person stated that they are on the way and will be at my house in 7 minutes. An hour later, I had to call back ViVint to find out where the Tech person was because no one showed up or called for my appointment, and request that they reschedule me for 05/02/2026 at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The representative stated that they didn't have any available slots for 05/02/2026. I stated to the representative that I made this appointment 2 weeks ago, and the Tech person did not show; it is their responsibility to accommodate me. The representative informed me that they have availability today from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. I told him no because I am not taking off work to accommodate them when their Tech person did not show up. The representative stated that he will escalate the problem, speak with his supervisor for clarity, and send an email to the scheduling department to assist. I asked about getting a credit since I have to pay $99.00 for installation, and the Tech person did not show up. I was informed that he can only credit me $15.00. This morning, I received an email about rescheduling. I called, explained the situation again, and was told there was no availability tomorrow--only noon to 4 p.m. today. I pointed out I would be at work, and became frustrated when they suggested I adjust my schedule. The representative then warned me to remain professional. Had issues with the thermostats and them making me jump through hoops opening the thermostat cover up going thru the wires so I can get electrocuted and them trying their very best not to send a tech to our house to figure that issue!! Absolutely horrendous customer service and a extremely long contract period. They trap you in a contract forever. I signed up with a door to door salesman who lied about the contract period. He said once my equipment was paid off I could terminate my service with no penalties. I did not find out this wasn't the case until I moved. My new apartment I wasn't allowed to instal the keyless lock or door bell camera. I wanted to cancel service but was informed I would have to pay 750 to do so. I was going to keep my basic components and use at my apartment. Just the sensors and alarm panel. They have a online tutorial to self remove the equipment. However they tutorials are a very vague and nearly impossible to find the instructions for your specific device. Next comes scheduling the move. This was the real nightmare. You have to pay for the new install and set up. I scheduled a 4-8 pm since I work 7-3 everyday day. Two days before my date I get a email confirming my time is 12-4 for hen I am at work. So I tried calling to reschedule. I got bounced around to several people and kept on hold for almost a hour the line was disconnected. On Monday, April 29, 2024, a person named "Jackson" representing themselves as a Vivint salesperson was going door-to-door in my neighborhood, which has "no solicitation" signs posted at the entrance. I called Vivint, who wanted to give me the email address for their HR department. I asked to be transferred by phone instead and was then transferred to an international call center. I advised "Jackson" that they were trespassing and asked them to leave, and they became defensive, condescending, and aggressive. It is scary that this person knows where I live. After Vivint 2.5 hours on the phone I have concluded that VIVINT is absolutely predatory. I do not reccomend anyone use their services. I got their services back in 2019 put my services on autopay and never had any issues until I wanted to cancel my services. When I called in February to see what I would owe if I canceled they gave me an amount for what I would owe for equipment and what I would owe for the remaining services. At that moment I paid the amount owed for the equipment and stated I would pay the services owed closer to the time I was going to cancel. On April 21 I called to cancel asked what I owed and paid the amount I was told to pay in order to cancel. Now here we are are in July and I get an amount drafted from my account from vivint. I am pretty upset bc I don't even have the service anymore so I thought. I called and they said I still owed money and that the customer service agent Maria gave me the wrong information. They said that she never canceled the service in April and that my account had a credit from my initial payment back in February and they were just deducting my monthly service charges. In June they decided they would invoice me for the buyout which I thought was already paid in April when I asked what do I owe on April 21. This was not the case. So this error made my account which I requested to be canceled on April 21 to be negative and past due. This is a big problem for me. Because I DO NOT pay my bills late.!!! Ever! This could have potentially messed up my credit which I have worked very hard for because at this point it was 60 days past due. A few problems here. I did not authorize any additional payments after April 21st. The payment made February 16 was authorized for equipment pay off and the April 21 payment was authorized for service...... not for credits. This is fraud and you will pay for this!! Smh. I just bought a new home and my coworker had Vivint and so did my church friend. Since I was a new home owner I was satisfied with their experience and had it installed. 6 days later I was billed the full amount for my equipment. I was told only the monthly amount would come out and that since I qualified for financing, I could pay it down monthly. Well that was a lie. They took the full amount of the equipment and I was furious. I called Vivint and they apologized and the finance department told me that they would reimburse me in 3-5 days. I waited and asked my coworker about this and she shockingly told me yes. She was billed $1,500 the second reoccurring payment came out. I asked her why she didn't tell me but she said she thought that it only happened to her and she thought it was a mistake she would only encounter. Now that I know she experienced this too, it was clear that Vivint has bad company practices. After 3 days I called my bank and saw that I was now being hit with overdraft protection fees because of the large amount of money that Vivint took out. I informed my bank about this matter with Vivint and they made a note in my account. I called Vivint back a day later which made it about 4 days and they connected me to the finance department and this rep from Vivint told me the reason I was charged for the equipment up front is because I didn't qualify for financing. I was so upset. I asked the last to tell me how as I have a 750 credit score, just bought a house and now I don't qualify for financing?!!!! His last placed me on hold and then came back on the line 10 minutes later and tells me that this was a horrible mistake and that I did qualify and now the finance department was going to email me the release documents to have my money returned but it could take another 5-7 business days to return my money. I felt robbed. I am collecting all of these late fees from my regular house bills coming out on time that I had already prepared my expenses to come out. Now I called my bank and filed a fraud claim against Vivint. I also went online to FTC and BBB to let them know about what this company did. I am a single mom of a 3 year old with special needs and just bought a new house. This company swindled me out of my money all because I put my card on file them to trust that they would only bill me the $47.90 that they told me initially would be my monthly payment. They are liars! Beware. DONT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD TO MAKE REOCCURRING PAYMENTS. I am letting as many people as I know about Vivint. I am getting ADT or Brinks right away. As of today 3 August 2019 I received my reimbursements for all of my overdraft protection fees from Vivint. I would say that the worst representative from Vivint that I have encountered was a lady named Megan Pickup who is supposedly a legal assistant who accused me of lying although I submitted to another Vivint person Mr. Carson Maughan all documentation from my bank that proved I was charged by my bank the overdraft protection fees and a official letter from the bank. It's completely unprofessional and unacceptable for her to attack a consumer who chose to use their service for the right reasons unknowing that this companies customer service practices are definitely fraudulent. Not only have other former Vivint users told me they were overcharged for the equipment charges upfront on their first bill, the other companies know it as well. It's only a matter of time before Vivint loses its customers based on how they treat their customers. Sure their equipment is cheaper and looks high tech but would you rather pay a bit more for the protection of your home or be bamboozled by a hit to your bank account for a large lump sum? I have a family to feed and take care of and the last thing anyone wants is to be broke and have no money in their bank account and no idea how you'll pay for bills until you can get reimbursed for their "mistake". We have had Vivint security alarm and cameras for over a year now. From the beginning the cameras did not stay on. Constantly on and off and service call after service call. One year in and they still do not consistently stay on. We spent several thousands of dollars and pay a fee every month for an alarm system that does work, but without the 5 outdoor cameras in use. People want to see what is going on outside, and record it, and we pay for it but just don't get it. So frustrating. My experience: What I thought to be a nice young man who was out going door to door in the neighborhood, and came to our door attempting to sell us the security system. When he came, I was busy, but he said he would be still around in an hour, if that worked. I agreed to that, and he came back. He explained everything in detail, even the part about if we were flexible, he could save us more money.... so installation might occur at midnight. After very carefully taking into consideration that I would be paying $78/month for 5 years (in order to pay for the equipment, and then the price would drop down in the neighborhood of $30/month after 5 years to continue the service), I kindly told him that I appreciated all his time (he did spend a lot of time with my husband and myself, explaining things to us), but that I would feel better doing further research, so declining his offer. He then said, "I'm insulted that I spent over an hour of my time with you." He's insulted that he spent his time explaining everything to us, and me saying that I would really feel best doing my research??? I needed an alarm system for a house I was flipping and Vivint was informed that it was TEMPORARY. In March the house was sold. I've contact Vivint multiple times about getting the service stopped and finally have had to Cancel the authorization to charge my credit card. You couldn't pay me enough to have this service again.
