TLDR - if you're a nervous or anxious driver, or have had difficulties with other instructors in the past, Erika is absolutely the one you should get started with. My apologies for the novel that's about to follow: To start off with, I am (or was), an incredibly nervous driver. While I had gotten my license by the skin of my teeth back in 2018, I developed a severe phobia after a bad experience on a highway and let my license lapse, not realizing that if your license is expired for more than two years, you can't just renew it - you have to take the whole road test again. When I learned this, I became so nervous that I started having insomnia and couldn't fall asleep - that's how nervous I was thinking about getting back on the road again. After completing my permit, I worked up the courage to book a lesson with Erika. Now, I've had my fair share of bad driving instructors - they often are gruff, not that great at teaching or explaining, and not great at making you feel comfortable or relaxed. Erika is the exact opposite. She is warm and supportive, without being overly so - you never feel like you have to put on a show for Erika. The day of my first lesson I woke up with full body chills and nerves, but I immediately felt at ease with Erika when I was in the car during my first lesson and knew I made the right decision booking lesson with her. Slowly but surely with each lesson with Erika, I got more confident behind the wheel. She positively reinforces when you do something well, and explains patiently where you can improve. She also steadily increases your abilities over time, slowly taking on new things like driving in a different neighborhood or on a busy street, without rushing you into something that can feel difficult. Since parallel parking is my achilles heel, she made sure to spend extra time walking me through this during our lessons. Leading up to my road test I also decided to take a couple extra lessons with Gus, who only just recently became available again for lessons. Gus has a very different demeanor than Erika - more reserved - and so while he may not be the best person to take a first lesson with if you are extremely nervous and anxious like me, I did find my lessons with Gus to be helpful and so the combination of working with both of them made me feel doubly prepared. On the day of my road test, Erika had the perfect demeanor. She made me feel assured, but never put undue pressure on me - she struck the right balance of being supportive without having that become a stressor in and of itself. She answered all my last minute nervous questions ("Can you walk me through again what to do if I think I'm going to hit the curb while parallel parking? What if I'm too wide?"), without ever making me feel bad about it. I was blessed with a clear day and relatively empty roads, but regardless of the good conditions I know I can owe the credit of my passing mostly to the patience and guidance of Erika. She is truly life changing - she changed me from an incredibly nervous driver who would break down into a ball of nerves even thinking about being behind the wheel, to a confident driver who according to my evaluator, did a "perfect" parallel park - something that I would NEVER have thought in a million years I would hear anyone say. All told, I did 13 lessons before my road test - 9 with Erika and 4 with Gus. While it's possible a less nervous driver could have done less (by my 10th lesson everything really started to click), I'm glad I did those extra lessons to make me feel fully prepared. I highly recommend Revolution Driving School, and Erika in particular, to anyone who is nervous or anxious about driving. While of course what happens on road test day is your responsibility, you will feel so prepared working with them. I can never thank them enough for giving me my confidence back!!

I was told to arrive to their office an hour before my test at Starrett. However, the driver didn't arrive to their office until 20 minutes before the test, and then he had to get breakfast, which wasted more time. I was instructed to drive a block away from the test, and was told, "hurry up" to get there in time. We arrived to the test with a couple minutes to spare, and needless to say, I was not in a calm mood. Image tells you, on the parallel park, to put your right hand behind the front passenger headrest as you reverse. DRIVING WITH ONE HAND on the road test is an automatic fail for many examiners. Following Image's instructions, I failed at Starrett and Seaview. The examiners literally hit the passenger side brake of the driving school car as I was backing up to attempt my parallel. I was done before I barely began thanks to Image's instructions. I took my third road test on Staten Island, and used a Staten Island driving school for my car and driver. I was told to keep both hands on the wheel at all times during the test. I nailed my parallel park and passed. My test literally was less than five minutes, close to four. My advice to anyone scheduling a road test in Brooklyn: Avoid Starrett, Coney Island, and Red Hook. Seaview is arguably the easiest test site in NYC. Just know there are wide streets and your three point turn cannot become a near U-turn.

I'm glad I did because the whole process was efficient and stress-free. I got the road test package which included the 5-hr prelicensing course (MV-278), car rental, road test appointment and 1.5 hr simulated road test driving lesson for $275. I also got an additional 1 hr car lesson because I've never driven before in the US. My driving instructor for both the 1 hr lesson and the simulated road test driving lesson was Zoe. She was amazing because she made me feel comfortable by conversing and helped pinpoint how to fix mistakes I was making. She was very patient as well. Overall, very thankful for her help. Their customer service was also really good because they were easy to contact through both phone calls and email. They also sent out reminders about upcoming lessons/road test appointment. (Passed on first road test)

I had Ryon as my instructor, he was late and the school never made up for it. Ryon calls me 15 minutes before my final lesson before my road test, and tells me he can't make it. When I called the school to reschedule the lesson, the school wasn't apologetic. The two rude receptionists (who have been fired since), told me they would call me back and never did and promised me a refund and refused to call the manager, who later called me, apologized and offered me the refund. I did however pass my road test, and Ryon was nice while helping me.

I did receive a refund for my unused portions of the package I paid for. I enrolled as a complete beginner and made that very clear from the start. Instead of receiving patient instruction, I experienced an instructor (Michael) who became frustrated with beginner mistakes and raised his voice during lessons. It was also extremely fast paced for a 20 lesson full package deal. On my third day I was being taught a 3 point turn and parallel parking when I was not comfortable turning onto roads and being centered on roads. There were also communication and scheduling issues. On one occasion, I arrived for what I believed was my scheduled lesson, only to find out the time had been changed without any phone call, email, or text notification. Despite the instructor being available, I spent approximately 40 minutes sitting in the vehicle while he stopped at McDonald's and handled personal matters rather than conducting the lesson. During multiple lessons, the instructor took lengthy personal phone calls while I was in the car, including highly personal conversations that contained inappropriate language. As a student learning to drive for the first time, I expected my instructor's full attention and professionalism, not distractions and personal matters. What ultimately made me decide to leave was being told after only three lessons that my remaining lessons and road test had been canceled because I was allegedly "too nervous." I had attended every lesson, was eager to learn, and had only just begun driving. Although I was offered another instructor, by that point I had lost confidence in the school's professionalism and chose to seek instruction elsewhere. Additionally, while waiting for one of my lessons, I overheard another student discussing a negative experience he had with an instructor named Frank. Under normal circumstances I would not place much weight on another student's experience alone. However, after everything I had personally experienced, hearing another student express similar frustrations further reduced my confidence in the school as a whole. As I have a busy schedule after September, I started driving (like completely beginner) at the start of this month and took the test on the 26th. This isn't ideal but worked out for me. The team is extremely thorough with teaching everything you need to know to pass the test and drive safely on the road. I signed up for the 15 classes package and that includes them helping me sign up for the road test and drop/pick up at the road test (using their school car for the actual road test). I had gone a great many years without driving and wanted to get my license, driving on the right…read morehand side of the road for really the first time. Albert Leung was my instructor and I had a very positive experience. He is extremely exacting and a very very experienced driver, able to give guidance during the lesson which will help you learn his skills. He will make you conscientious about everything. Pedestrians in particular; likely outcomes when a driver is slowing down; executing perfect parallel parking and 3-point turns. Even making a turn in an intersection becomes an artform under Albert's eagle-eyed tutelage. He has a sort of road sixth sense that he can start to impart to you. Albert teaches nuances like observing the red light countdown and using that to help judge whether to attempt a turn or go through an intersection. How many times did I hear him intone "You just failed the test" - it made me want to improve, and I steadily did. I ended up passing the test with just ten points off while many people around me were either failing or scraping by with many points deducted. The road test in Queens is no joke, those inspectors are demanding as well they should be. And I finally got a little smile from my long suffering teacher :-) Later I took the highway course and he was invaluable in helping me negotiate stressful situations like merging in traffic with impatient drivers all around and the lane running out. The bottom line is: Albert will turn you into a very safe, very observant driver.
