Wonderful place with good outside seating. The ice cream was very tasty, and reasonably priced!

Was skeptical given the negative reviews on Yelp. Great reviews everywhere else…read more I'm sad we only ate one meal here. Everything was amazing from the cocktails to the service to the ambiance. We requested a patio seat and sat in a quiet area with one other table. We didn't share a main course just most of the apps. Great cheese and meat plate, watermelon tartar was refreshing and unique, pork sliders were awesome and filling. The passion fruit is a must get for dessert but it was all great. Thanks to Matt and Mark for great service.

We were seated at 7pm and received appetizers at 8:30pm. He had the steak tar tare and I had the mushroom toast. They were both just okay. Bread, amuse bouche, cocktails all took forever. Maybe 30-45 minutes. There was an acknowledgment of the delay of appetizers with no explanation, however. We received entrees close to 9pm. All were lukewarm at best. Evidently the center my friend's filet was still cold (the order was for medium rare). My husband and I had the lamb and the chicken. Both just okay. He also had an old fashioned that was all ice and not really what you'd expect for a restaurant of that quality. We enjoyed our gin cocktails and wine, but skipped dessert altogether. Honestly, I cannot wrap my head around this experience for a ~$500 meal. If you're looking for somewhere special and a fine dining experience, we'd recommend you look elsewhere in central Virginia.

The location of this restaurant is central and it's ambience is enhanced by the incredible staff:…read morethe welcoming staff were warm and genuine; we were lucky enough to get Lori for our server on our first visit (we asked for her on each subsequent visit); the food was so fresh, well seasoned, expertly prepared, and the portions were generous. I'm visiting my family after a sudden, unexpected death, and I've already sent messages to friends and family recommending your wonderful restaurant. During our last visit, I asked if I could meet the Chef. My Sister and I got to meet Doc, and express our appreciation for his food freshness and the beautiful taste thanks to Lori facilitating our meeting. He encouraged us to return and profusely thanked us for the feedback. If you're in Orange; Spottsvania; Charlottesville; or heading anywhere to the North and South along the 95 corridor, please stop by the Silk Mill Grille, ask for Lori - who will make your experience enhanced by her incredible work ethic and welcoming demeanor. If Doc and his crew are in the kitchen - you are in for a treat. My Sister and I are Senior Citizens. Our trips to meals out were more frequent when we were both working full time. Now, we are very picky about where we go. We both encourage you to treat yourself and be sure to ask for Lori. PS: This facility is spotless. It's clearly a hidden gem awaiting your discovery.

After being up in SNP I decided to head on over to Silk Mill. I was craving a burger all day, yet…read morethe crab cake & grilled shrimp combo spoke to me, in the end went with a smokehouse burger. The bacon was not crispy, rather limp and sad. The burger was cooked well. The fries were soggy, limp and lackluster. Service was great but overall, it was meh. They had some beer on tap but opted for a canned IPA. If you're really hungry stop on by, but if you pass up on stopping, you're not missing out. -Buen Provecho!
