I was driving through the area and decided to stop and get some ice cream. I first walked into the restaurant on the ground level, and they were nice enough to tell me that the ice cream shop was located on the lower level on the back side of the building. It's a cute little shop that offers all kinds of ice cream related treats. I opted for a small blackberry cone. I was a bit disappointed that they did not have sugar cones (only cake and waffle cones), but the ice cream was really yummy, so it was ok. The small cone was a generous portion, which I enjoyed at one of the tables that faced the water. It was a nice refreshing treat on a warm day. read more

Moo Thru has done it again for me. Always slapped and always will. This spot is conveniently located downstairs from a seafood spot at lake anna, great view, great service and great ice cream. It didn't last long, I didn't want it to melt... Yea that's it...I didn't want it to melt. Nice spot to hang, get some food at the other establishments or bring your own and use the picnic tables. After a long, hot day on the water you can't beat docking your boat and grabbing some ice cream. This Moo Thru location is right on Lake Anna and is the perfect spot to grab a snack, chill out in the shade, and watch the boats roll by. Important to note that you can also drive here and there is ample parking. Tons of outdoor seating 50 feet from the lake. There is a volleyball court out front and a mini golf course set up. It is important to double check the hours before you go because they vary depending on the season. Moo Thru's motto was something along the lines of, "real ice cream made by real dairy farmers". It definitely is reflected in the quality, great ice cream. Super creamy and fresh. A large variety of staple flavors as well as daily specials. I got sweet cream / mint chocolate chip on my first visit and blackberry / sweet cream on my second visit. Moo Thru makes their own waffle cones and waffle bowls. You can literally smell the waffles cooking when you ride by on your boat, the aroma reels you in. Every time I go to Lake Anna this place will be a must. read more

This place does good business as THE ice cream spot at the Lake Anna Boardwalk. We treated ourselves after a hit but fun round of miniature golf. There are a lot of different flavors of ice cream, and also sorbet, milkshakes, and pup cups. The scoops are generous for $4. There are gendered bathrooms (currently out of order) and covered picnic tables outside. Deducted half a star for only 50% of the staff being outgoing and friendly, then rounded up to 5 stars. read more

Nice ice cream spot along the Lake Anna Boardwalk. They have the flavors that Moo Thru fans are accustomed to, but not everything else that the other locations have (e.g. brownies for the brownie sundae like the Dairy Market location). Line was wrapped to the door, but plenty of staff working on a Saturday evening, so it moved quickly. Since a brownie sundae wasn't an option, we opted to share a waffle bowl with 3 scoops (cookies and cream, moundz, and coffee). The ice cream is always good. Disappointed. I just went it with a few friends (around 8:20pm) and the 2 guys working said they were closed, even though their posted hours for the fall say they are open until 9:00pm. The doors were unlocked and they were not doing cleaning/closing procedures. It felt as though they were just hoping people would not come in because they did not want to serve close to their closing time. This is an improvement from the ice cream place that previously occupied this location. They have banana splits, sundaes, shakes, root beer floats, and scooped ice cream with lots of topping options. Good hand scooped ice cream but sadly tiny portions. It's the only place I've been to where if you order a single waffle cone or single cup, the scoop is LITERALLY one single scoop. We live 4 mins away and we come here often but we just started noticing this and thought maybe it was just the one girl we got that day that scooped super tiny portions...nope - we came back about a week later and different kid, same tiny single scoop. Living 5 minutes away from this place is pure DANGER. I am at Moo Thru probably 3 or 4 times a week during the summer. Every time we get visitors this is where I always insist we go for ice cream.
