Amazing little craft beer store near Nitehawk, Prospect Park, Farrell's, etc. They stack a TON of specialty bottles and cans in their tiny storefront. Lots of imports, lots of local. Some from breweries you know, and some from ones soon to be new favorites! You've got your Gueuze Tilquin, 3 Fonteinen, Omnipollo, etc. plus local faves like KCBC, Threes, Other Half. I actually discovered a new NYS fave in Aurora, and rediscovered an old favorite brewery To Øl with their Birra Misu dessert stout. They also have beer (and kombucha) on tap and fill crowlers. An excellent spot for the beer aficionado--they have an incredible diverse array of offerings in bottle, can or even some on draft for growler fill. They also feature a limited menu of sandwiches and specialty food provisions, which had the benefit of allowing them to stay open through the pandemic for your takeaway beer needs. I'd recommend checking out their website before visiting, to have an idea what they are currently stocking and how much it costs. The interior is a bit ramshackle and not ideally organized, and even for someone who is ready and willing to pay extra for quality or rare beers, I do find their prices run to the high side, and are not always clearly marked. So if you show up prepared and with an idea as to what you want and what it costs, that could be helpful. read more

A much celebrated and appreciated neighborhood craft beer shop located on PPW btwn 15th and 16th, southeast of Bartel-Pritchard Square, by the F/G station. Bottles, cans, growler fills, and the odd bag of chips or bowl of lentil soup; though subtly marketed, the foodstuffs are worth inquiring about. The beer selection skews towards local and regional breweries. Find something out of the refrigerators or among the shelves and crates which densely pack the store. If you're curious, ask an employee what's new, what's local, what's lactose-free, dry-hopped, fruited, with a wheaty finish. Pick blindly at random if you'd like: it will all work out. read more

This place is AWESOME. I'm not really a beer drinker so despite living in the neighborhood for 3 years (and directly across the street since April) I hadn't checked out this small little storefront. What a mistake that was! A few weeks ago I stopped in to pick up something to bring to a friend's BBQ (thankfully this isn't a review for NJ Transit because boy, was that trip not fun!) and the incredibly knowledgeable proprietor made some excellent recommendations. I wound up picking up two 4-packs that he recommended and they were both excellent. The guava something-or-other that I enjoyed that same night at Movies in the Park was particularly delicious. I've been back twice since (which is crazy because I've really never been a beer drinker) and have picked up some other amazing things. Current fave is Hudson Valley Breweries Eveningland Sour DIPA (?) It's so damn good. The guy who's always there when I stop in (maybe the owner?) does such an incredible job making recommendations and making a beer novice like myself feel comfortable (and not like a loser for liking "fruity beers") amongst a pretty intimidating selection. I'm so excited to continue trying new things and grateful to live so close to this awesome spot! read more

Disclaimer: This is for the Rice Bowls only. (Sandwiches are available too). Stopped in here on impulse after remembering a lovely Carrot Dip I bought awhile back from my local Coop that *am pretty sure* was made at this place. I think maybe I got some Salsa too with this label that was delicious. So I had high hopes that were, sadly, dashed: Anyway, hubby and I both got Rice Bowls; one with Pork and one with Chicken. And the thing is, they literally tasted like Sandwich filling, but with the addition of a little Rice. A very little Rice. The sauce, if you could call it that, consisted of plain mayo, near as I could tell. The only other ingredient I can recall is Baby Arugula. It just felt so uninspired; like a halfhearted attempt to appease customers who don't want to do a Sandwich. IMO what works in between two slices of bread is not necessarily going to translate literally as a bowl. I would have loved a variety of veggies or maybe a more interesting grain or some avocado. Something crunchy to add texture. Or at the very least, a more creative, flavorful sauce. On the plus side, my Chicken Bowl was only $8 and I didn't hate myself after eating it. Well, perhaps a little, but that had nothing to do with the food.:) To me, this place feels like maybe it's a now-shuttered Bierkraft (RIP) wannabe, but on a much smaller scale. For those of you who aren't familiar with Bierkraft, it was a Park Slope institution, known for its extensive curated beer selection, random specialty foods, and in its later years, delicious sandwiches. This spot feels a bit like that but more haphazard, like it's in the midst of an identity crisis. All of this being said, am sure locals are happy to have a nearby source to get their Ample Hills Ice Cream fix. They carry pints here! Plus I believe they offer growlers since we noticed a tap. Space is tiny with zero seating so plan on taking your food to-go. Luckily, Prospect Park is half a block away. ps Came across a pic of the menu that indicated an option to order your bowl 'spicy.' Somehow, I missed that and maybe it would have improved my experience so am upgrading my original 2 stars to 3. read more

I'm so glad I stumbled across this place. This area has a lot of cool spots to grab a drink, good food, etc but I never expected this gem to be in such a small retail area. I love beer. I don't try to hide it. I probably spend too much on it. It probably doesn't help my figure. But I love it. And it took me long enough to realize that New York has an amazing beer scene. 209 stocks a great selection of local and not so local brews. The person I always see working there has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable. I appreciate the curation of not only beer but cool snacks, many of which appear homemade. I can't wait to go back and try the food. Will update when I make that happen, but rest assured it's worth the trip just to grab some beers. And they do Crowlers! read more

The owner is really nice and great with advice because the selection is intimidation, in a good way. They are thoughtful about COVID. Although it's out of my way, I make a point of coming here for unique and delicious beers. In fact, one of the workers recommended an IPA to me that has become my new favorite (The Wrench). Small shop with diverse/excellent inventory. Owner is pleasant and goes out of his way to answer questions. I stopped in to buy some craft beer for my dad. It's hard to know what to get because I'm not confident with my beer knowledge and he has very easy access to Heady Topper, Lawson's, and other famous VT beers. The staff were very helpful in giving me recommendations based on my limited knowledge. I feel like I left with a good selection that my dad will at least find quite interesting and probably enjoy. They have some fantastic kombucha (a VT brand of course) that was the best I've tried. Not too sweet and extremely refreshing. I haven't tried the food so who knows what happened with the reviewer below but I really like this shop and would recommend it. read more

This ain't your typical beer store. Good neighborhood vibes. Very thoughtful, curated, and unique selection of canned beers as well as local drafts for crowlers(read: big cans) and growlers. Always great to stop by and see what Jason is cooking up! He's a (mad?) scientist back there. Whether you're stopping by for beer, snack, or sandwich you won't be disappointed here. Great location next to the park makes this place a no brainier. read more

209 Station is my go-to spot for picking up beers, coffee, snacks and ice cream. They carry an eclectic collection of canned beers from across the US, including some great local NYC brews -- the selection is constantly changing, so check back frequently. I also love the draft options with a 32oz to-go can, canned on-site (check their Instagram for what's currently pouring). The new addition of A.M. Action coffee (always very freshly roasted...like roasted within the last few days fresh) has given me one more reason to stop in. Otherwise, I stop in for the occasional snack or pint of Ample Hills. Admittedly, I haven't had many of their hot, fresh food, but what I've had has been pretty solid. And their dips are very reliable. This place is a welcome addition to the neighborhood -- really hope it's here to stay! read more

I have always walked past this place and wanted to try something on the menu, yesterday I finally tried the smoked Paprika chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Cute little bottle shop. Like all the other boutique convenience stores with craft beer and condiments. I've always been able to snag some new releases there that are sold out other places so that is nice. Right off the park. Good place to stop and grab some kombucha on the way in. Usually stop here after visiting Double Windsor to grab a bottle or two. Staff is always friendly and nice. They are always good with the kids in the area. read more
