We accidentally stumbled upon this insane gem of a store. We were intrigued by this warehouse with a sign outside saying "$1 beer." We went inside expecting some really low quality beers for $1, however this store had high quality microbrewery cans for $1! This place looks like a beer distribution, and maybe that's why they were able to sell cans of beer for so cheap. They have such a good selection of beers, and all of them are extremely affordable. The main person selling beer was so nice that he gave us a six pack of an excellent IPA for free! The other amazing thing is that they have a bathroom you are able to use. The best bathroom is really clean as well. Overall, one of the best hole in the wall places you could hope to stumble upon while walking in New York City!! read more

Such a hidden gem on Flushing Ave, right across from the Brooklyn Greenway, highway, and Steuben Playground - where if you're lucky, you may witness some bike polo. TapRm is a garage-style shop with cases of carefully selected craft beer forming a beautiful beer wall, a few leafy green plants here and there. This is essentially a beer-to-go spot, though you may also be able to sample some beer with the two owners who are helpful, friendly, and fun to chat with. They have a nice range of local/regional beers, all with the coolest art, and after you make your selection, you can pick up a cold one in the fridge in the back. As we deliberated on which to bring home, a few cyclists rode by perhaps on the way home, picked up a few cans, and went on their way. If that doesn't make your daily commute better, I don't know what will. Maybe if they offered some snacks too. We ended up going home with a few IPAs and sours and enjoyed them immensely. Overall, a solid, friendly spot to stop by, grab some brews, and make your way to/from Williamsburg. Best discovered and experienced if you're on foot or bike. read more

What a great concept. I found this company out during an internet search as I was putting together craft hard seltzer advent calendars for friends. I love that they offer unique brands for reasonable prices. And I also liked being able to purchase each can as singles, rather than packs or cases like a lot of delivery services. They aren't just amazing, they are AMAZING. I've ordered from them 3 times now. The first time I sorted by beer and didn't realize they put seltzer in there so I chose some by accident. I wrote to them not expecting anything but they gave me a coupon code for my next purchase. Purchase 2, flawless. Now purchase 3 is where it got tricky. I ordered the first 2 during work from home covid days so it was easy to get the package during the day. Now I'm working I can't sign for it and UPS won't deliver on Saturdays for some reason. They worked with me, and had it shipped to my office so I can take it home with me. Honestly, the beer is good, the delivery is great, but the customer service..... now the customer service is TOP NOTCH. Talk about a hidden gem!! This has to be the best selection of craft breweries in NYC. Wall to wall selection of premium beers, tons of variety, and an incredibly friendly staff. I happened to run into Jason (who I think might own or maybe manage the place) and he was incredibly helpful, eager to show me around the shop and explain the different beers and breweries. So many hard to find products here! The store itself is very cool, bare bones in a very Brooklyn way that leaves the shopper able to focus on the star of the show - the beer. I will definitely be back. I have a feeling this will become a favorite of NYC beer fanatics quite quickly. read more

It's stumbling upon beer stores like TapRm that have you shamelessly forgetting the meaning of Doddridge's gospel classic "Oh Happy Day" as you sing nothing but the chorus in sheer delight, and not just because there's free shipping for orders over $25 (a deal they were offering at the height of the pandemic, but at the time of this writing, hasn't yet reverted to the $50 minimum for free shipping.). TapRm offers a variety of styles from domestic and international breweries (There are ciders and seltzers and stuff from domestic and international companies too.), and their site is user-friendly enough to only leave you feeling overwhelmed by all the choices you have as a consumer. And to keep you abreast of their goings-on, they publish e-zine articles and emailed newsletters that are fun to read. Like everyone, TapRm makes mistakes. But they're happy to take accountability for them, which always makes situations less irksome compared to just saying "I'm sorry". They also do their best to accommodate special delivery instructions (which I found in our boxes where no one could see them, but A for effort.). Living in a region of NY where receiving deliveries from express couriers is a bit slapdash, we can only take advantage of TapRm as much as our nerves can handle, but that doesn't mean TapRm doesn't deserve a supportive yelp. This is such a chill spot. I got a blueberry tea beer and also a stout that tasted like a cinnamon bun. Highly recommend especially if you're walking by and just stumble across in the mood for a cold beer to go in nice weather. I tried TapRm for the first time a few weeks ago because I had a hard time finding decent craft beer in my neighborhood, and it worked out so well! I don't drink very much, so when I do I want to make sure it's a beer I enjoy - that's why I loved being able to search by specific style. Both beers I got were exactly what I wanted (Talea and Surly Brewing Co.). Most importantly, even though there was an initial error in my delivery, I contacted TapRm and they had extremely responsive, friendly, and helpful customer service. My brother started using them too and he feels the same. I just placed my second order and can't wait. I'll definitely continue using TapRm, and refer all my friends in the NYC area. read more

Well if you call yourself a "Cold Beer Store" I guess you can get away with it if it's cold in the store at some point. But when you're selling it as a way for quarantining folks to get cold beer delivered and it's lukewarm at best I'd say it's not such a great idea. I'm not far from the store and can't complain about the delivery speed but at the same time I can't see the product getting that warm that quickly even in warm spring weather. Guess you can blame the gig based delivery service that also is slip shod as they claim to have delivered to me on one occasion and totally didn't, claiming that it was signed for when my security camera said otherwise. Customer service is good although they never responded to my last complaint of piss warm IPAs that were also a little off the freshness date these styles require. This is a case of 3 strikes and you're out as far as I'm concerned. An acknowledgment of my email was received but not addressed. There's a lot of local brewers offering delivery service that need our support during these difficult times so please consider them as a viable and superior option in the future going forward. read more
