Chicken Pot Pie from Strong Arm Bakery with house chips
Jason B.

Nice place in a small town. Local sources for some dishes. More bar than restaurant. House made chips are a nice touch. Staff is attentive but also stops to chat with the locals, as you do in a small town

Finger-licking Good…read more This is a plain, no-frills, old-fashioned eatery serving up good, simple, home-cooked food with a smile in an old-west setting. The only concession made to frilly decor is the artificial yellow Marigold that crowns the paper towel holders on each table. The menu includes: Burgers and Sandwiches, Soups and Salads, Appetizers and Speciality Plates. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. Be sure to check out the Daily Lunch Specials. The only thing missing is a cold beer. The Thursday Special, 1/2 Pound Riblets, is exceptionally good. While the meat does not exactly fall off the bone and takes a little work, there is plenty of it and it's surprisingly tender. The BBQ sauce is a nice balance of sweet, heat and spice. The hand cut Fries are best when smothered in the self-serve Cheesy Sauce. Another special, Chop Steak with Onions & Peppers is another winner. It's more like a cube steak than a hamburger steak and has a distinct chargrill flavor. Remington's Cole Slaw is some of the best I have tried. The cabbage is fine-diced with a hint of sweetness and refreshingly crisp. The BBQ Plate is OK, but not the reason I go to Remingtons. The pulled pig is rather bland and lacks that unique Eastern NC BBQ tang. We particularly like the Geronimo Burger. This double patty monster weighs in at a substantial 1/2 pound with just the right amount of zesty Chili and sweet Cole Slaw. All burgers come on a large, soft but chewy, slightly sweet bun. The Buffalo Wings were meaty and tender enough, but the Teriyaki Glaze just didn't taste right (next visit I'll try the BBQ). I did like the BBQ Beans - slightly sweet and slightly tangy - a nice combination. Be sure to ask for the 10% Senior Citizen's or Veteran's Discount.

Ordered to go as a first time customer - order was not ready when it was supposed to be, however…read morethe restaurant was very busy, maybe after church crowd. The establishment is comfortable and casual, somewhat bare bones. The biggest thing I noticed was the front of the restaurant is very smoky, my eyes were watering. The cook area is right in front of you when you wait for your order, so the smoke is kind of billowing out. The employees were very friendly. Parking lot is pretty small, location is right off S Bickett. On to the food - my cheesesteak was pretty good. Sweet potato fries were undercooked. Baked beans were different than I'm used to, pretty spicy and had large onion slices. Burger was good, coleslaw good, onion rings not good. We'd order food from here again but might choose different items.

This place is a gem! Tucked away in Middlesex was this AMAZING restaurant and carryout. I was…read morewelcomed as I walked in. Placed my order and waited as they cookoled each meal to order. I was able to speak with a few of the employees who were quite pleasant and full of jokes and life. My smothered porkchop was cooked to perfection and tender beyond measure. So was the beef liver and onions. This whole mean reminded me of Sundays after church at my grandmothers. I will definitely be back...probably this week! Lol

This sneaky little hole in the wall is incredibly non-descriptive from the outside. Unfortunately…read morethat's a green flag for me as it translates into all the effort being placed into the food rather than aesthetics After pestering my SO for nearly 2 years to try this spot, we finally did on 7/5/2025 and great gobs of goose shat if it wasn't one of the best burgers I have eaten in years. If you're someone who wants ambiance and decor, this isn't it. Do you want food made with love? This is your spot. Being 1st time callers and long time listeners, played it safe by ordering a burger. My thoughts are, if a burger isn't done well nothing else would be. Their dressed cheeseburgers have chili and onions on them. Want your's differently? I am certain you will be accommodated. Ours were delicious, clearly hand made and the fries were perfect. The Gentleman at the counter took the order, we seated ourselves. No frills, no pretentious demure; We were welcomed as if we were old friends walking into their kitchen at home. TV on, other patrons enjoying their meals. Was a treat to have the owner/cook(?)'s grandaughter pop in and listen to their banter. She was supposed to be home for July 4 but ate "bad McDonalds" and was sick If my fam had a place like this no doubt McDonald's would tear up my guts more than it already does! It was adorable. She was adorable. He was adorable. Loads of love between those walls and it reflects in the food served. Don't quote me on this but I think we were loved, fed very, very well and out the door for under $22. The only complaint I have is, I wanna go back Would probably be cheaper to eat here and support local every night than to cook at home! Loved it, will be back and strongly recommend.
