Not to be confused with the local Silver Mountain airport/resort shuttle service. Though if you hit…read morethe Silver Mountain Sports Club hard enough you may succeed being shuttled... to a molecular airport full of endorphins flying everywhere! Achieve altitude simply by jacking your heart rate up for 30 minutes or more to trigger the release of those tiny happy, buzzy glowmakers. "Please adjust your trays to the seat back position and look out your windows on the left side of the plane to witness the majestic Silver Mountain. Glorious! Thank-you for flying the Endorphin Airlines." ::: PARKING ::: Easy to miss the. Looks more like an office than workout facility from outside. Kimball location has tons of rear parking and only a few spots in front. ::: RECEPTION ::: Friendly staff. Always a smile, a joke, a positive word of workout encouragement. Admin stuff happens here, like renewing a punch or membership pass. Note that passes work at both the Kimball and Prospector locations. 2 towel types upon entry- large and small hand towels stamped with SMSC in communist red. The locked turnstile to the club can be a real beast, especially early mornings when half-wake. Silver Mountain logo'd merch available for purchase. Full-on smoothie Bar! $1 bottled water in case you forget to bring your own is nice. Day care available! ::: FIRST FLOOR ::: Well laid out space. Yoga and spin studio on first floor along with free weights. Spin class is world-class. Even better with view of outdoor lap pool. Great sound system. The high energy party music from spin class flows into the free weight room sometimes because it gets hotter than a swedish sauna in there. Invariably someone jams open the door during classes. Brony free weight users frown upon this this and close the spin class door which we then have to open again. Its the circle of life. Door open. Door close. Door open. Door close. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. ::: SECOND FLOOR ::: Second floor is cardio. Ample treadmills, stair steppers, etc. just lots of aerobic equipment including an female users only room as gawker prophylaxis. ::: THIRD FLOOR ::: Third floor is where the magic happens for me-- large fitness room with tremendous views of the mountains. Sign ups required for all fit classes during winter season. Can reserve a spot up to 24 hrs ahead. They will wait list prior to full classes-- a warm-up for Sundance, I suppose. Most notably for me Butts&Guts (and sometimes Buns&Guns). Put these names on the merch and I will bite-- just adore the fun, catchy, edgy names. Generically shorthand the classes as'BeeGees' for short. Which also perfectly captures the sentiment of pushing through the wall to keep doing 'burpies' and other variations on push-ups until you cannot breath anymore because all your classmates are encouraging each other: Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin', And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Exercising as part of a team collective mentality really allows you to push yourself without suffering-- you just zone out and keep working hard. It's a party hive mind with the queen bee instructor. Speaking of, the instructors here are all amazing-- many seem to be world-class athletes in their own right. Also on third floor- changing rooms with lockers and showers. Very clean and well-kept. Lots of people get ready there before leaving to divert fractions of pennies at Initech after they workout. Hand sanitizers and kleenex boxes scattered everywhere. There is also an executive membership with a private locker room area and a laundry service. Like many rooms of the original Apple IIe's Castle Wolfenstein, I have never made it past the lock code box on door so as to witness the splendor. It's VIPs eyes only. I can only presume that here VIP stands for Very Important Push-ups! Drop and give me twenty. No drinking fountain on third floor though. Wonderful excuse for more exercise as I jaunt down the staircase to guzzle my arid parch away! There is another staircase in the back that is out of way. So much I consider it hidden but not quite Platform Nine and Three-Quarters of the Potterverse. ::: THE BOSU ::: Favorite part of my most favorite class (Butts&Guts) is the Bosu. What is this Bosu you ask? Cue infomercial here: Bosu is marketed as a balance trainer but it is much, much more. Bosu is an alien UFO saucer disc thingy that is 26 inches in diameter and looks like a big blue egg yolk. The name 'Bosu' is an acronym: Both Sides Utilized. You stand on it and try to keep your balance while following instructor-led exercises as it keeps wobbling ever so slightly. This Bosu wobble is the special sauce-- an element of instability that creates an added layer of complexity and challenge during the exercises making it so much fun! One happy, buzzy glow with a side of Bosu wobble, please!

For us, the girls had all known each other for a long time and weren't friendly with my daughter. She found making friends to be really hard, and she's someone who usually makes good friends. Her coach would get pretty intense and even yell at the girls during games. There didn't seem to be any attention to team building, building lasting connections, which is honestly an important bonus in sports, especially when you're in it almost every day. Given that the team was uber expensive to join, we were still expected volunteer to get a small portion of that back. Also, the teams play year-round, most days of the week, and very late in Heber during the winter, which is hard for working parents. The advantage is that for the right kid, this can offer great training to elevate one's soccer skills -- and hopefully other teams have friendlier kids. And it is possible to not volunteer if you're fine with not getting your deposit back.

So it depends on what you want and what your child wants. If you have a competitive player who wants to advance and maybe play in college definitely go to another club. If your kid just wants to play and doesn't really care about the level of play and the quality of coaching this might be ok. My son didn't have to deal with cairel so I can't speak personally but I haven't heard anything good about him. You probably should check out the coaches for your child's age group and make sure he isn't coaching that age. Other than that the club ins't that bad.

It is ran by a husband and wife team (Tim & Crystal Huang). They charged a non-refundable $25 fee for basketball tryouts & we gave it a shot. Hundreds showed up. Seems all kids made a team level. They promise you an elite program but fall short. Business acumen is just not there. In just a couple short months we shelled out over $500 with little to no return; playing time or constructive learning. Monthly dues are $135/mo; not including uniform, tournament, league fees. Our child made the highest level team, but it was a mess. We lost half our team in 2 mos. as parents left. They have you sign a year long contract and are unafraid to threaten parents with attorneys & fees. It's just not worth it. Skills trainings are one size fits all approach & crammed with over 30 to 40 kids. We also got an unpaid coach who was tasked with coaching more than one team in exchange for freebies for him and his child (who also played on our team). Everything about this gym's equipment is just genuinely old and crummy. I mentioned to management that their pool is unbearably cold. The kids that were getting in the pool (on several occasions) were getting blue lips and it just seemed to get colder as the months went on and my youngest refused to get in anymore. Old people would get in the pool and just say, "Sure is miserable, isn't it?" Management told me that the pool temp was optimal and that basically I just need to deal with it. A week later they are replacing a water pump in the pool. It's just a really disrespectful management atmosphere. My husband's father died and we were going to be out of state for two weeks and since this gym is SO expensive, I asked if we could get some sort of refund or credit while we were gone. They told me "no sorry" and that was it. I told them that I have never had a gym treat death in a family so lightly and how cruel that is. It was only after having to remind them to treat people right that they decided maybe they could put our account on hold for two weeks. Like, how on earth have they gotten that low that they weren't willing to offer that without hesitation initially? Very unfortunate and just so cocky. This gym is SOOOOOO much more expensive than any gym in the area and just doesn't make sense how they can be so cocky and rude when their gym really is the oldest and crummiest gym I've ever been to. Their classes are pretty good but the yoga room is so cramped that it makes class squishy a lot and the speakers in the room are so old that they break a lot. It's really something. I think young moms get taken advantage of the most because a one-year-old that can be in the kids' club for an hour costs just as much as a 17-year-old child that could go to the gym all day, every day. I'm planning on going to the Marshall White Center that's opening back up soon and I think a lot of young moms will come with me because this gym is WAY too expensive for what you actually get out of the facility.

I've been going to OAC for about 4 years, none of the equipment is the same brand, size, or similar in quality. It's a dated gym and half the time, machines or equipment are broken. When they do repair they its usually very poor quality. It's a very dated gym and the average cost of a membership is about 50% more than local gyms. It takes a long time for equipment to be repaired and they have more "don't do this" signs than anything I've ever seen. Things like, "dont use your phone" "don't wear sandals" Dont move this, don't move that etc. I really enjoyed the members, everyone is very nice and super friendly. The only real upside is that the kid care is AWESOME. The staff is very friendly, and they have a free area where older kids can just chill and watch movie. Great for the summer. They always have different crafts for the kids to do too. That's why they get 2 stars not 1.

The Truth About Treehouse -- Read This Before You Join…read more Treehouse markets itself as the most "premium" gym in the Salt Lake Valley -- and for years, it truly was. With a premium price came premium amenities, instructors, and classes. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. Treehouse has changed drastically in recent years, especially within the last few months, and what used to be a top-tier experience now feels far from premium. Membership Costs & Contracts Be aware: the initiation fee is inconsistent and feels misleading. It often varies depending on who you speak with in member services. You can join month-to-month or commit to a full year, but if you choose the annual contract, you are locked in. No refunds are offered -- no matter the reason. If circumstances change, you're simply out of luck. Membership costs also increase each year, unless you were one of the early members "grandfathered in" at a lower rate. Many long-term members now pay significantly more each year for less value. Classes & Instructors Treehouse advertises over 50 weekly classes, but don't be fooled by the number -- not all of them are good. The best hours (7:30, 8:30, 9:30 AM) are competitive, and members often settle for mediocre classes because management refuses to replace underperforming instructors, even after repeated complaints. While there are still a few excellent classes and instructors, these classes are often full and there's not enough equipment to go around. Weight-training classes often run out of weights, gliders, or bands. Kettlebells are claimed long before class starts. Much of the equipment is damaged due to poor storage and lack of maintenance. Treehouse would benefit greatly from a class review system, allowing members to rate instructors and share feedback transparently. Management & Recent Changes In the past two months, Treehouse dismissed its Group Fitness Manager -- who was also one of the gym's most beloved and talented instructors. She taught over a dozen classes weekly and was a major reason many members stayed. Her removal has caused widespread frustration, and the classes replacing hers have been noticeably lower quality. Facilities & Sauna Misrepresentation Treehouse recently added a sauna in the women's locker room, but members should be aware that it is not a red light therapy sauna, despite what several member services staff claim during tours. The lights are simply red-colored bulbs and do not provide any of the proven benefits of true red light therapy. Additionally, the women's sauna temperature is consistently around 150°F, which is lukewarm at best. This defeats the purpose of a sauna and fails to provide its expected health benefits. I've personally requested that the temperature be increased to at least 200°F, but my request -- like many others -- has been ignored. Gym Etiquette & Environment Another persistent problem is gym etiquette -- particularly from members who "reserve" multiple machines for circuit training by leaving towels or personal items. With limited equipment, this creates tension and frustration for others trying to work out. Management has done little to address this issue. Leadership Concerns Management The biggest concern, however, lies with Treehouse's general manager, Erica. She consistently avoids member feedback and shows little concern for the gym or its community. Complaints go unanswered, problems remain unresolved, and her lack of involvement is noticeable. The gym's cleanliness, organization, and morale have all declined under her leadership. It's clear that Erica does not care about Treehouse or its members -- and the results show. Equipment is dusty, maintenance is inconsistent, and staff accountability appears low. Hiring practices also raise concerns of favoritism and nepotism, as roles often go to friends or acquaintances rather than qualified applicants. Overall: Treehouse still has potential -- the facility is beautiful, and a few instructors are outstanding. But poor management, declining quality, and rising costs have stripped away what once made it a premium gym. I would strongly recommend delaying becoming a member until Erica is replaced as manager, and classes are reorganized and updated. Until then you're paying a premium price for a mediocre gym.
