I really love this gym and the amenities that it offers. My only concern is that the locker rooms and wet area really need to be updated. If I could change one thing it would definitely be to limit the number of high school and youth groups hosted here as it competes not only with my ability to use the amenities but the boys are extremely loud and disruptive. read more

Life Center is a hidden gem in Sandy that you probably have driven past so many times, and you really didn't know much about them. They have a full workout facility and a killer pool for swimming lessons. After Summer is over, they cover the pool with an intense bubble and the water temperature is 80 degrees. My daughter has enjoyed the swimming lessons at this pool, and not once has she mentioned that she was cold. It was been an awesome experience!!! She looks forward to going to Life Center every week! read more

I've been coming ere for two years, staff is friendly and has good equipment for any skill level.

The men's lockers desperately need repair/replaced. I had to go to about 20 of them to get one that would lock. Some of the doors don't fit in the cabinet anymore. Not sure what is with the combination lock on nearly half. I had to go to the front desk for a guy in a towel whose lock stopped working. read more

The facility is older and worn. The gym is small with equipment and weights positioned close together. Some of the locks on the lockers are not functioning with no option to use your own. The facility is used by school swim teams limiting access to the lap pool and those kids are in the hot tub and sauna unsupervised. The facility cleaning was scheduled at odd times limiting access to the restrooms and other functions. After trying the gym and deciding not to get a membership I was grateful I got a refund on the unused passes. read more

This gym by far is the best gym I have been to. The employees are happy and helpful, and TJ, the owner even tries his best to know you by the first name and cares to get to know those who work out there. The accommodations, classes and much more has changed the way I will look at the gym experience. Only downside is I now have such high expectations for where I go to next! For those curious to why I am leaving, I am moving out of state, but if I had it my way I would have them open a location in Idaho because it is by far the best gym in the area. I joined because I am a Masters Competitive swimmer and the Dimple Dell Rec Center pool is far too hot to do any serious training. I was happy initially even though the pool is not well maintained. However, recently (October 20- Nov 5, 2015) the water has become so foul and nasty, it is difficult and very unpleasant to train in. I have reported it to the front desk 3 times, but the conditions remain intolerable to me. read more

We have been members of the Life Center for several years and we love it. They offer great classes, amenities & day care. My children participate in basketball camps, gymnastics & cheer classes. I started going to the various classes at the beginning of the year and have really like the instructors and the motivating workout. They classes are offered at no extra charge and you are able to take it at your own pace. I attend Sports Conditioning on Mondays, Muscle Pump on Wednesdays and Rip on Saturday mornings. Its been a good way to work out with my wife and have the kids entertained at day care. You can usually try the classes for free before becoming a member. The membership fees are very reasonable and the staff is friendly and helpful. The Life Center is a great local gym with lots to offer. read more

My family have been members of the Life Centre Athletic Club for over 30 years. The LC is a gem among big box gyms. The friendly staff and knowledgable fitness professionals combine to create a superior experience. The members are authentic and truly come to EXERCISE. The LC is a family gym. My family utilizes the swim (salt water pool) and dance (BLISS) program daily as well as the volleyball/basketball courts. The atmosphere found in the group fitness programs are inclusive and fun. Members make an effort to say hello especially if you are new. This is exactly what a fitness class SHOULD feel like. This is my families first, last, and only fitness choice. read more

My family has also had issues regarding availability of lanes in the pool. I was told by several employees that there would always be at least two lanes available for members even when the largest swimming team was practicing. That turned out to be totally false because my kids were ordered out of the pool by the swim coach on several occasions, and not in a friendly manner. They quit asking to go to the pool because they were afraid of the swim coach. I talked to management and was assured that they would fix the problem, but nothing changed. I have been a member at Life Centre, for 20 years. My kids grew up swimming in the year round pool. The classes are fun and amazing! The pool is always clean and the hot tub is great! The machines are new and there is a wide variety. There are so many different things to do. It is the best facility around! My husband likes to ride a bike and I love the rowing machine or treadmill. My husband and I joined this club last fall because of the indoor/outdoor salt water pool. However, we have encountered several issues since joining. First, the pool water is frequently cloudy and the sides and floor of the pool have a dirty, brown discoloration. There are also frequently many stray objects in the pool (hair ties, band-aids, toilet paper). The pool deck is also very slippery (indicator of algae) and I have slipped a few times. Practically all of the lockers at the facility are broken and I have had my stuff get stuck in the lockers at least 3 times so I don't even bother using the lockers anymore. I just take my bag into the pool area with me. My husband also had his comb and hair gel go missing from the counter during a 2 minute period while he was using the bathroom and never turned up. The women's locker rooms don't have a dry sauna like the men's, just a steam room. I tried to use the steam room once and the filter was so filthy looking that I was scared. We have also used the tanning bed a few times and one of the bulbs was flashing red and never got replaced despite complaining a few times. However despite all of these things, we hoped that the health benefits of swimming in a salt water pool vs. a traditionally chlorinated pool would outweigh these other issues. One of my biggest issues has been how inconvenient the pool hours are to working adults. The pool is supposed to be open till 10:00pm on weeknights. However, ALL the lights off in the ENTIRE pool enclosure automatically go off around 9:45pm. They have no clock or alarm, so while you are in the middle of swimming, the lights just suddenly go off without warning and you are stuck in a pitch black enclosure not able to see your way out safely. Someone could slip and fall in the water and get injured or drown and die! We know this is against the county health department rules, and we've been tempted to complain but we didn't want the pool to get shut down. We complained several times to the managers on duty but nothing changed, so we tried to find a way around this issue by trying to swim earlier so that we didn't get stuck in the dark pool. However, they also run youth swim programs that restrict lane access between 3pm and 8 pm. When my husband and I joined, we were told by the manager on duty that typically they always had at least two lanes available during these times and even if we needed to swim at a certain time, that this wasn't a problem and that the program instructors had to accommodate other members by having the kids share lanes and opening up lanes for the members to swim in. They said if there was a problem, to just come upstairs and talk to them and they would take care of it. A few days ago my husband called ahead of time tonight prior to my leaving work early about the availably of the pool because a few times I had driven all the way there and all the lanes were so full, and I just didn't have time to wait so I left. I arrived and got in a COMPLETELY EMPTY lane after an older woman exited and started to swim. I barely finished my second lap and was kicked out by the swim instructor who told me he needed the lane for the kids in his program. I went up to the front desk FREEZING AND DRIPPING WET in my swimsuit and towel and spoke with the manager on duty who happened to be the owner (T.J.) about the situation. This was my first time meeting or speaking with T.J. He was EXTREMELY RUDE, INCONSIDERATE, and UNACOMMODATING. He didn't do anything about the situation except lecture me about the swim program hours, and deny what we were told by other managers. He was really mean to me and showed ZERO empathy for my suffering. It is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE to allow someone to stand in a towel and wet swimsuit, freezing cold in THE MIDDLE OF WINTER (especially in the lobby- can you imagine how humiliating that is?), while you just lecture them and argue with them and do nothing about the situation. I was completely shocked and horrified as the other managers and employees have always been kind and accommodating. I left the club crying in my wet swimsuit and towel because of the way I was treated, and the manner in which I was spoken to. I feel completely disrespected and abused as a human being. This was the last straw for me and I will NOT be going back. My husband even talked to T.J. on the phone after the incident and he was very rude to my husband as well. My husband and I own our own business and I would never speak to or treat our customers this way. I cannot support a business owned by someone so mean, rude and inconsiderate, and that treats customers/fellow human beings this way. I now realize why all of our other complaints that other employees said they would talk to T.J. about were never resolved- because T.J. is an inconsiderate jerk who doesn't care about his customers. It's really sad and depressing to me because I really wanted to be able to swim in the salt water pool. read more

I enjoy the saline pool, but it is difficult to find a relaxed time to swim as the schedule is crowded with swim teams, group lesson, etc... don't bother trying to talk to the manager: T.J. Is rude and a very poor communicator-defensive and cocky. Many lockers are broken and sometimes the pool is cold and murky. I was also uncomfortable with the screaming toddlers and babies being given swim Lessons. Most of them enjoyed the experience but others were terrified and screamed continuously. I was familiar with survival swimming training for babies and very small children because my sister was Dean of Early Child Development at a college and it was a subject we had discussed when it was time for our own children to learn to swim. I though the manager might like some of the latest research on this subject to make their program better. T.J. Could not have been more punitive towards me when I tried to address the issue. I later had a nice conversation with the teacher who was obviously very caring and committed to her work, but not very willing to review those few instances where very small children might actually be traumatized...and it does happen. I think I recognize a true scream of terror and in my opinion I witnessed this on several occasions. Anyway, T.J. invited me to go somewhere else if I didn't like it. He was ignorant about child development issues (which would not be uncommon,) but most shocking was his completely uncaring and cavalier attitude towards a situation that may not serve certain very young children well. I want to enjoy my time in the pool and listening to the screams of small children is disturbing. Other swimmers mentioned their discomfort too, so I know I was not alone. read more
