DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! I urge you to spend your hard-earned dollars elsewhere. Especially avoid Apt #3203, an overpriced mold-infested penthouse. I suffered health issues for 5 months, now medically verified as mold exposure through a mycotoxin urinalysis test. The hallways always smell of smoke and mold, except for floors with Airbnb-style guest suites. Regular tenants face disrespect and gaslighting from management, needing to hire outside professionals to validate complaints. My hired company found multiple types of mold despite management claiming the issue was resolved. Management avoids being recorded, so document everything in writing. They will try to scare you with early termination fees. Document thoroughly and get a lawyer. I moved out on 07/25/2024 and will seek damages in court. Pam, Dorko, and Hector from maintenance are great, but property manager Nicole and area manager Courtney are incompetent and rude. The building has historical charm but the gym is inadequate, the theater room is often closed, and the hot tub works only half the year. Amenities close at 10 pm. The move-in/out process is hellish due to inefficient elevator access, costing extra moving time and money. I booked 4 men and a truck to control costs when moving out. The leak in my unit is historical. Management never tested for mold but noted it on the floorboards. My inspector confirmed mold and moisture in the ceiling drywall. Management planned to hide the mold under new flooring, likely intending to re-rent the unit without proper treatment. read more

My Randolph Tower Review This building has nice historical architecture, but a lot of the furniture and interior decorating is very mismatched, has holes in it, and is unpresentable. I rented this apartment out of state, and sight- unseen, completely relying on photos from the website. The hot tub was broken over 75% of the time that I lived at the Randolph Tower during the year. The sauna also didn't work or heat up sufficiently 2/3 times I tried to use it and with assistance from others. I, like many other tenants, specifically picked this apartment building because of the amenities. It's unfortunate and I do feel cheated that the hot tub didn't work for so much of my time there. I asked to be refunded part of my rent as compensation multiple times, but was denied. Regardless of the legalities or contract technicalities protecting the rental company stating that amenities dont need to function, it appears stingy and negligent to not issue somewhat of a refund. Had this been done, I would have been more more likely to leave a well-deserved better review. The elevators were broken without the use of a staff member hand operating them for the last two months of lease. The operators were polite, but it was very inconvenient and awkward to need to depend on them (especially when you live on a high floor and walking isn't really an option). I entered and exited my apartment many many times per day, and enjoy ease of access. The workout machines had a lot of very run down equipment, and there was no bathroom in the gym (which is pretty imperative if you drink water during workouts like most do). The bathroom required more elevators and to go upstairs to the rooftop, which takes a lot of time. It seems a bathroom could have been installed. On the bright side, maintenance requests for my apartment unit were handled very expediently. The door man Darko went above and beyond to help me with incoming and outgoing mail/ packages. The manager Lauren Medina was very responsive and helpful to my emails. When the elevators did function properly, moving in took me 1 hour and was easy vs. a prior elevator-less apartment I had in Boston which took over 3 hours. (Very relieving). Excellent high ceilings, spacious layouts, and closet space in the apartment units. I was very happy with the actual apartment unit itself. It was excellent that a granite floating island table was included. Overall, I think if the apartment could seek help from an interior decorator to make the decor more cohesive, and good or perfect condition, it would make a big difference on the overall appearance and quality of the building. I wasn't proud bringing guests up to the rooftop when so much of the decor was falling apart. (I know this has been a common review, even when I looked last year before moving in). My boyfriend and I have lived here for almost two years now and if we are going to stay in Chicago when our lease is up in September, this would be the place to survive another cruel Chicago winter. Ha! Even though there have been a few technical issues with elevators and a malfunctioning jacuzzi here and there, the staff are always trying to do their best to resolve the problems as quickly as they can. In addition, they make you feel very welcome upon your return. I love the receptionist, especially Jason, Laura, and Pam. Kudos to both! If we are going to move, I am really going to miss these great guys! This place is full of young people that like to have fun. You will see folks getting ready for festivals and various events. Sometimes it feels like a hotel and gets a bit louder, but being a young couple, me and my boyfriend love it and it is certainly much more fun & suitable for us than 215 W Washington (just a block away) is... We used to live there before 188 W Randolph and it the environment just did not feel as warm and homey as it does here. Also, for my standards, it was awfully quiet there, not too many young people around and mainly, they only had an outside pool which in Chicago you cannot really enjoy too often. I love that Randolph Tower has an indoor pool and use it all the time! Love it! I only wish the pool was opened past 11 PM... Toured here for Chicago Open House: I cannot speak for the living spaces but we were allowed to view the pool on the 27th floor, the gym/common room on the 24th floor, and the open common spaces on the 27th floor. This is a building that I had never quite looked at up close and the details of the tapering design are remarkable, and can be viewed from the deck. The design of the common space is eclectic and modern: lots of color and clashing patterns, a nice movie room, and a south-looking deck that looks over much of the Loop. The pool is nicely open to the sun with surrounding windows and a deck that looks West. The 24th floor common room has a gym on one side, two artificial outdoors type corners, and a giant chess board, with high ceilings and windows. All newly revived. I was impressed and would like to know more about how it is to live here. read more

I relocated to Chicago from Los Angeles and basically had a day to find an apartment. I chose Randolph Tower because the costs of moving into a professionally managed building greatly reduced my cross-country moving costs. Also, it's proximity to my office was short, and seemed to be a central location to learn the city. I've now lived here for 7 months. PROS: The concierge staff is great. Very friendly. Pam learned my name and apartment number the first day and hasn't forgotten it since. She tells me when I have a package as soon as I walk in the door. She's the only one of the concierge staff that does this. But there is a screen on the way to the mail room that will tell you if you have a package waiting. The apartments are updated with hardwood floors in the main areas and granite counters. There's a full size stackable w/d in the units which is great. And my specific apartment has a ton of storage and closets. They're pet friendly. The gym is pretty complete in terms of things available, and the machines are up and running most of the time. Would be nice if there was a small storage area to put keys and things in the gym. The sun deck and hot tub is great - though I wish there were more chairs (there's only 4) and that the sun wasn't blocked by the spires of the building right in the middle of the day during the summer. Generally my neighbors are respectful and I haven't run into any issues. CONS: It's an older building, despite all of the renovations, so the elevators break a lot and there seems to be a lot of plumbing issues causing them to have to shut down water from time to time. Management is pretty good about communicating when they'll do this, or when elevator cars will be down. Don't plan on getting to know anyone who works in the building other than the concierge staff. I get emails from the GM or Sales Manager when they're promoting things or letting us know things will be shut down. But I've never met them in person and couldn't pick them out of a lineup. The rent is average for The Loop, but I was surprised that when they put the money into the renovations, they didn't update with stainless appliances. The floors aren't the best quality hardwood laminate, and so I have a bunch of tears in the my floor from the prior resident. Also, for some reason, they put flat paint in the kitchen and the dishwasher sits right next to the wall. So water gets on that constantly, and there seems to be no good way to get it clean. The cabinets aren't very deep, so they couldn't actually hold my plates. The pantry, is very helpful, but I did have to add a bookshelf in the kitchen to hold overflow and things that didn't fit in the kitchen cabinets. Location is great if you need to be near the trains and financial district. You're walking distance to the big theaters and a short walk to State Street. But the train goes RIGHT next to the building. And I didn't anticipate it being so loud once I moved in. Eventually you don't hear it as often, but those first few weeks were rough. There's also nothing happening on the weekends. If you see people around, it's likely because they're a tourist. It also means you need to leave the neighborhood if you want to grab food at a restaurant. As others have mentioned, the closest grocery store is the Target on State Street. Having groceries delivered seems to be the best option I've found if I don't have time to drive to the store. Parking is in the parking garage across the street and it's not owned by the building. When I moved in, the rate was $190, which seemed decent considering it was the loop. A few months in, the garage raised that rate to $210. If you're bringing your car, keep that in mind. While they're pet friendly, there's no green space nearby. Everyone was using the vacant parking lot next door, and the little patch of fake grass I assume the building put in. But the city has since fenced that off and there's now nowhere to go. Any green space within a block or two has clearly marked signs that tell you no pets are allowed. My dog has gotten used to just doing his business in the middle of the sidewalk which isn't fun for anyone who has to walk past it. Ultimately, I won't be renewing my lease for a few reasons. I moved in on a concession, and so at renewal, I can't justify an increase of $200 (at minimum) for the size of space I'm living in and a location that's only an asset Mon-Fri. Also I need green space for my dog and want to live in a neighborhood that has amenities 7 days a week. read more

I have such mixed feelings about the Randolph towers. My husband and I lived there for a year. We loved the windows in our apartment. Just gorgeous. And the hot tub and pool were awesome. Loved living close to the river and the art institute. We however had a few nightmare experiences. We had a smoker living next door. We talked to management about how our apartment smelled like smoke the week that we moved in. They lied to us and said they were having the people move out at the end of the week. We'll they didn't leave and The smoke smell got worse and worse and I got pregnant and didn't feel safe because of the overwhelming smoke in there. And the smell made me so sick. They ended up moving us to a different apartment up a few floors. But the management guy we worked with made a mistake with our money which ended up in them over charging us $1000. I had to look through the books and figure out where he went wrong. Didn't respond to my emails. Overall this place left a bitter taste in my mouth. Oh one time we went out to our parking garage and there were bullet holes in the door. It just feels like there's something weird going on at the Randolph. read more

I was all excited about seeing the apartment since it looks so good on the website. i went all the way there but being told there are nothing scheduled for me. this is unacceptable. How do residents count on your if you cant even handle the first apoin t update: That is not all to the story. I got on the phone and another agent picked up and scheduled another time. I went there and met the agent and being told that he couldn't really show me any thing except a 2b2b model. Which is funny because I am looking for a 1b. Then he told me he don't have any more information because he doesn't really work here. So two visits and no luck seeing anything. What a Great way to manage a building! We arrived at Randolph Tower City Apartments to request a tour. Not only did the front desk associate stop me mid-sentence to answer a call, she was rude and unhelpful. We then called "Angela" to ask about tours twice throughout her shift and she never answered, leaving our calls to be transferred back to the front desk associate who also didn't answer. I then sent an email, to be replied back to on Monday. 4 days later. It appears that this office makes up their own hours of operations, so don't rely on their stated hours on their website. When I finally did speak to a leasing agent, she was very short and not very friendly. Unit 710 I moved to Chicago in May 2015, and actually leased from Randolph Tower while I was still living in Miami sight unseen. Knowing how much I used Yelp to help me find a place to live, I wanted to make sure I left my review for here as well after living here for almost a year. I'll follow the same format as many others have done for people who don't want to read all my notes. PROS: - location, location, location: living in the loop is excellent being new to the city. close to ALL trains, major bus routes, work, and all the touristy spots when people came to visit made adapting to and learning the city much easier - concierge: to maintain my packages and any deliveries i had when i wasn't home - in unit W/D: if not the latest technology, they are full sized - in the winter, the building hallways are kept so heated that you basically don't have to turn on your heat in your specific unit CONS: - location, location, location: the closest place to do groceries is City Target on state street, which doesn't really have all you would want. also, not any green around the area, the closest park being Millennium which doesn't even allow dogs anyway. oh, and protests are always blocking my walk home - nightlife: or lack thereof, being in the loop, theres not much to do around here. sometimes I would need to rush to the Walgreens because it closed at 8pm (and isn't even open on the weekend) - utilities: the water bill is really expensive because its shared throughout the building, which gets really frustrating because for example you're on vacation for a month, but you still pay the same $75 -_- Overall, the building itself is great. I can hear the noise people have mentioned previously, but I'm a pretty heavy sleeper so it never bothered me. My main reason for moving out is really my dog, who has no grass, and I'm not a huge fan of living in the middle of everything. I'll end with being a little disturbed at the amount of people referring to Section 8 housing as a con. The fact that there is Section 8 housing in this building didn't effect my decision to lease, or my experience while I was here. read more

I stayed here recently, in a corporate housing apartment and I was pretty impressed. The front desk staff was great and the common areas of the building were clean and well-maintained. The only issue I has was the noise level. Not only is the building right next to the L, but the walls are paper thin. I could clearly hear the tv in the apartment adjacent to ours and conversation and the shower etc in the apartment across the hallway! Let's just say, neither of us had a very restful night. :-( read more

Our amenities aren't complete yet, but I have been extremely satisfied with the service I have received living here. I waited about a month after moving in before writing a review, just in case this place was too good to be true. First: the application process was painless. I was approved quickly and got my move-in date squared away. Moving in was easy (I had movers), and they partner with Move-Tastic so I got some free wardrobe boxes too. Apartment: giant studio, granite, big bathroom with waterfall shower head, laminate floors, central air, in-unit washer dryer. Kohler fixtures, excellent lighting, new kitchen appliances. The microwave "senses" how many plates you have in there! I'm not a huge fan of the induction glass cooktops b/c of cleaning, but it works well for cooking. The only cons I have about this building is that I have some loud neighbors with a lot of kids (not sure how you get that many kids into a small apartment), and they let them run around the hallways sometimes. My dogs bark when they hear children shrieking, so that can get annoying. Apparently there is some low-income housing in this building, so I guess it comes with the territory. The majority of the time, it's not a big deal. I've only had one maintenance issue and they fixed it with in hours of me reporting it. I think this building is a great value for the amenities - there is a pool, sauna, hot tub, deck with gas grills, conference center, fitness center, movie theater, and poker room available as well. The front desk holds your packages for you and the staff is super friendly. Pending any big life changes, I will renew my lease another year. read more

This is a great building with an exceptional front desk staff. Pam, Jeanette and Laura go out of their way to make the building feel like home. The engineering crew including Eric is also great and very responsive to maintenance concerns. My wife and I lived in the building for two years and really enjoyed the stay. PROs: - The pool / amenity spaces are great - we even hosted a holiday party in the space, which is available for reservation for a nominal fee - The gym area is very large and there is plenty of basic equipment - The staff is great and very helpful with packages, maintenance requests, etc - Location of the building is perfect for working in the Loop - Food/entertainment options on Randolph and in River North are easy to walk to - Free bike parking is available in the basement - Starbucks / Dunkin' are both across the street - New restaurant (Randolph Tavern) is in the first floor of the building - Year-round AC and Heating (four-pipe HVAC) system with just one night-long outage (AC) during two years - Reasonable rent increases of ~1-2% a year during our stay - VERY close to public transit / many walkable options CONs: - The building allows smoking in apartments, which does occasionally travel between units. The building staff was fairly responsive to these concerns, but was unable to resolve completely. - Noise from the elevated train on the west side of the building may be a concern for some, but I was never bothered by this above the 20th floor - Hallway noise was a concern at times - Outdoor roof space is a little bit limited, but I was usually able to find room Overall - this property is recommended. read more

Having lived here for just about a year, I can say that most of the reviews are correct (good and bad). Good: its new, clean, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the pool is beautiful, the hot tub is awesome (esp in the winter), the gym is clean with plenty of equipment, location is convenient, the apartments are well laid out with good closet space, granite counters, in unit washer and dryer, central air/heat, non-carpeted living spaces (laminate floors), most people that live here are nice, and it is very dog friendly. Bad: the outside noise is loud, the neighborhood is not the best at night, the windows are a bit drafty (although new), my large convertible has one vent (with two openings) - so low air circulation, no parking in the building or even just outside, the floors peel up, half of the windows are sealed closed, maintenance takes awhile to do anything- and often doesn't believe you at first when you complain, the section 8/affordable housing units are everywhere... and you can tell the difference (louder, lots of "guests", etc). Overall, the good outweighs the bad. Especially the staff - they really make the place a home. Having a dog here is great, she gets the chance to socialize and have "friends" (even with the lack of dog parks nearby). I've renewed my lease and probably will live here until I decide to buy. read more

I lived here for more than a year, and I can say I'm definitely glad I moved out. The building and amenities look great, but I had a negative experience overall. Pros: + Updated units including hardwood floors, granite countertops, soaking tub, + Washer and dryer in-unit + Close to CTA station and retail stores + Full amenities including gym, indoor pool and jacuzzi, huge party room, theater room, etc. + Individually controlled heater and air conditioning + Rent increase was around 2% after a year (low compared to other places) Cons: - Poor communication when dealing with management office (not always responsive or helpful) - Utilities averaged $100/month for a studio which is based on the entire building's usage (utility package includes everything except electricity and cable/internet) - No full-sized grocery stores within walking distance (but there is a City Target about 1/2 mile away) - Maintenance orders usually took about a week to be completed (I only had a few) Overall, the cons outweighed the pros for me. There are definitely better building options in the area. Also, I don't think this is an issue, but just to note, this building does contain section 8 housing. read more

I love living here! The building was built in the 1920s so it has all the charm of old architecture with modern and updated interior spaces. The amenities are great - my favorite is the fitness center. It is open 24 hours and is in the building's original ballroom, so the room is beautiful. The apartments are spacious and have ample closet space - something that I found hard to find in the loop. The staff is excellent and you can tell they take pride in the building. Definitely deserves a 5 star rating! read more

I've lived here for about four years and am happy with everything except management. The front desk staff, maintenance, and cleaning crew are all delightful and hardworking. However, it is impossible to get management to respond to issues. They simply ignore tenants' requests. For example, I've had a serious safety issue in my apartment for weeks now, and no one from management has bothered to call me to discuss the issue, despite my multiple calls and emails. The shabby management is a real shame given that otherwise this is a great place to live. read more

Fantastic amenities (nice gym, great pool, awesome outdoor hot tub open all year.) Wonderful concierge staff. Solid maintenance. They lose a star for management. Much of the building appears to be "for show" because of a number of management policies. For example, there is a nice poker room and poker table, but it is never used. Want to play poker with 3 of your friends? Management will charge you $200. The gym has statues of sheep and a hammock, but is usually out of water and cups. read more

Randolph Tower is great...literally no complaints. The building is newly renovated and has a unique, modern interior that is kept flawlessly clean. There are various layouts available all of which have new appliances, granite counter tops, wood floors and high ceilings. I have yet to meet a tenant that is not friendly/well mannered. The location is very convenient--just steps away from any CTA line, buses, restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The amenities are amazing...a sky club that is great for hosting parties (complete with a gourmet kitchen), a patio for grilling out, a private movie theater, outdoor lounge for laying out in the summer, indoor Olympic size pool with awesome views, a sauna, hot tub, steam room (favorite), 24/7/365 front desk concierge that knows you by name, as well as an awesome management staff that makes sure you are completely satisfied. I can't imagine moving away from Randolph Tower Apartments and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an apartment downtown! read more

My fiance and I moved into Randolph three months ago and absolutely love it! We live on the 19th floor facing the train. I am not going to lie and say we can't hear the train, however, it isn't loud enough to be a bother at all (just a part of city living!). The main reason we chose Randolph is because of the amenities. We use the gym almost daily and have used the outdoor space on the 27th floor many times. We love that the building offers so many things to do: pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, pool table, poker room, and so much more. There is also usually something either going on in the building or being hosted nearby. We have had breakfast in the lobby brought from a local restaurant and monthly happy hours hosted by Randolph at a local bar. Everyone working at Randolph that I have encountered has been nothing but accommodating and friendly. My fiance requested a piece of equipment for the gym, and it was available three weeks later. I would highly recommend this building to anyone who wants to live in the Loop or wants to be a very short walk from River North. We LOVE it! read more

I have been living in Randolph Tower City Apartments for 8 months now. I wanted to give it some time before I wrote my review to make sure that I gave a fair assessment. I would first like to mention Patrice. She was the agent that assisted with our move. From the beginning of the process, Patrice was very efficient and professional. I love how personable she is. It's not everyday that an agent makes it a point to inform tenants what is taking place in and around the building to ensure that they are enjoying all that the neighborhood has to offer. The next person I would like to mention is Greg, the building manager. Greg is great! When I first moved in my apartment, I had a small issue that needed resolved regarding a miscommunication with my apartment. What I felt was a simple request turned out to be a major hassle but Greg made sure to go out of his way to accommodate me. Since then, whenever I or my boyfriend sees him he makes it a point to make sure everything is prefect in my apartment. In past 8 months, the only thing that I have had to get replaced were 2 light bulbs in the track lighting! I really enjoy the amenities that the building has to offer. The sky lounge is beautiful and I often hold business meetings up there and my boyfriend and I frequent the gym which is also beautiful. This is our first time living downtown and I can definitely say that the location is perfect! I park my car less than a block away (for $220 a month), public transit is RIGHT THERE when I need to ride it, Randolph Tavern is literally next door (it's really good), and when I have guests... they walk to Starbucks right across the street! Last but not least, I would like to mention the exceptional concierge staff! There's 3 in particular that I am fond of. Darko, Pam, and (I forgot her name but she's really sweet and always welcome we back when I come home from work LOL!). Having concierge in the building is soooo convenient because I never have to worry about my packages being stolen, I never have to come down to the lobby when I order Uber eats, and I don't have to visit the office when I need to place a work order or get parking validation for my guests. Great location, but that's pretty much the only good thing about this building. 1) The front desk staff is never at the desk, whether it is in the morning or late at night, no one seems to be around. I have seen random people just walk in with residents, and I have had people delivering food had to wait around to be let in. I thought the purpose of a concierge is to help keep the building safe. 2) The management and maintenance don't ever seem to complete work orders in a timely manner. We've had to put in the same work orders multiple times for it to be done. 3) There is smell of smoke EVERYWHERE. It is RIDICULOUS. You would think that it would be a smoke-free building, since almost every other building in Chicago is, but nope, not here. There is nothing that can be done about it either. 4) Parking - there is no parking garage with this building. It is across the street, but the people who work there are rude and far from helpful. They don't process payments on time, and then blame you for not paying. 5) The building is so old, and it is just not worth the amount they charge for rent. I would not advise anyone to live here. Cool building. Horrendous management and staff. My girlfriend lives in the penthouse so I'm there at least 3 times per week sometimes more. I'm writing this review because I'm fed up with this building and I don't even live there full time! It has gotten so bad that we both prefer to stay at my place despite having to drive to the burbs! Here is a list of problems I have observed so any future residents get an idea of what the issues are. 1) There's almost never anyone at the front desk so visitors end up sneaking in behind residents and proceed to let themselves up. Otherwise they're stuck waiting in the lobby until the front desk attendant eventually returns from wherever they were. I feel really bad for the poor food delivery boys who sometimes had to wait over 20 minutes on more than a few occasions when we order in! 2) The online portal would not accept her rent payment because it wasn't set to process an amount high enough to cover her entire rent amount. When she cut a check the staff lost it twice and management actually had the balls to blame her! 3) The fire alarm was tripped on her floor and was going off for over 2 days!! We both called maintenance, management and went down to speak with the front desk multiple times. No one even called back! We ended up leaving to my place after the first night of this because it was impossible to sleep or even watch tv. Later that week management said the front desk person working that weekend was quitting so he/she didn't care about following through with trying to get ahold of anyone. Remember that management had the balls to blame her for the rent check not getting to them despite admitting some staff members "are on their way out and don't care". 4) When her brother and I helped her move in we found out the management didn't provide the correct elevator dimensions so we had to help the movers carry a few of her furniture pieces that wouldn't fit up 41 flights of stairs! The heavier items that wouldn't make it up the stairs had to put in storage last minute at her own expense. This oversight cost her over $3500 in moving fees, $1500 more than originally anticipated! To add insult to injury management didn't even apologize and claimed that the dimensions were correct. We've met 2 other residents that had bought new furniture which had to be sent back when it wouldn't fit in the elevator. 5) Staff members entered her unit at an unscheduled time and unannounced. To make matters worse when they entered to fix some sort of mysterious gas problem they tracked oil all over her area rug. OIL! It wasn't just a small amount of oil, there was enough to ruin the rug which she had to throw out despite getting it cleaned professionally. We even have the pictures to prove it. She hasn't even received a formal apology for this! This particular incident left me speechless. 6) After looking at her utility bills there's some sort of weird way they're being calculated and there's also some big charges for for things that seem like BS. What's worse, management can't seem to explain any of it in a way that makes sense. $250 bucks per month for a line item named HVAC hot water? 7) Amenities are not maintained. The hot tub and pool are always filthy. There's some sort of film or slime on the bottom of the pool and sometimes in the sauna. We found a dirty diaper in a corner of the gym one night and a pile of dog poop another night. I think people bring their dogs and kids to the gym which is fine but the management just doesn't care to clean it regularly. There's so many more little nagging things like packages getting lost and never any water or cups in the gym but I don't want to seem petty. There are major problems at this building so steer clear or do your homework and speak to actual residents before signing a lease. Keep in mind she pays an astronomical amount per month to rent the penthouse and is treated without consideration or even much respect. If the penthouse occupant is receiving treatment like this I wonder how management goes about treating people who rent regular units. Do NOT rent here. Do not believe any excuses they provide in response to this review. Do not believe any false promises they make when they try to sell you on renting here. Finally, be aware that the building manager will lie to you and in some cases work against you when you attempt to resolve problems or even get simple maintenance issues taken care of. read more

So I have had a different opinion of this apartment. Since I moved in on day 1, I have had many issues, most of which have not been resolved or will never be resolved. The biggest problem is the noise at this apartment. It is directly over the "El" and while the daily noise of it cruising by is not the issue, they work on it almost every night. Because this apartment is within the loop, construction and everything else is allowed to go on at all hours of the night. Because of this, they work daily on the train and surrounding areas from 9:00 PM until roughly 5:00 AM. Also, trash pickup is allowed at all hours of the night so just imagine a person outside your window crashing pots and pans together several times throughout the night. Because there are 5 different companies that have dumpsters behind the complex, expect it several times a night. If you do not like to sleep, this place is ideal for you. If they lie to you, like they did to me when I moved in, they will tell you it is really quiet. I cannot hear neighbors ever, but I swear to you that the outside noise can be heard from every apartment in the building. I went back and forth with Chris (manager) on the trash pickup for quite some time and in the end, he basically said tough luck. Since Waste Management is our waste company, I at least hoped he could get them to pick up at a normal time, but he said the owners of the building are too cheap to switch providers to one that will respect peoples sleep schedule. Maintenance is also relatively poor. Since February when I moved in, my dryer has not worked and maintenance refuses to try to dry a load of laundry to verify that it does not work. They turn it on, it heats up and they are good with it. Unfortunately it takes three times to dry a load of laundry. I have asked repeatedly, literally like 10 times, and nothing is done about it. I have given up on it at this point. My ceiling also leaked during the intense rain and it took almost 4 weeks to fix. As a consequence, the people fixing my roof let water sit on the floor and the cheap flooring peeled up. I asked for this to be fixed as well, and it never happened. Finally, section 8 housing. While I am not saying that everyone that lives there on section 8 is bad, I personally have a hard time paying what I do while others get to live there at half the cost. I realize these individuals are just as hard working as anyone, but I am just letting everyone know that this place has section 8 housing. The apartment complex in general has potential, but in no way can it be a 5 star rated property. Walk through the hallways and see how dirty the carpets are and how bad the hallways smell before you decide on this place. Also, please realize that you will have noise issues no matter what apartment you are in. This place is a strong no. Much quieter and nicer places outside the loop. read more

Don't let the temporary scaffolding scare you away from this place. Once beyond you will be impressed by the vibrant decor throughout...props to the designer who was able to capture the original aesthetics of this historical landmark and combine it with an ultra sleek update! Very well done! The concierges are super friendly even after having to deal with my tri-weekly package deliveries...plus its always nice to leave and come home being greeted with a friendly smile! Thank you ladies! I give huge props to the leasing staff. They made me feel at home throughout the entire leasing and moving in process...and still continue to be awesome even after living here! Thanks Matt, Lindsay, Daniel, Christopher, and Bianca! It also helps that the apartments are awesome...can't go wrong with granite counters and islands, hardwood floors, lots of closet space, in-unit washer and dryer, and huge bathrooms...not to mention an adjustable shower head that fits TALL GUYS (a definite must)!!! The amenities here are top notch. The historic ballroom turned fitness center is a "must-see...it's huge!" I cannot wait until November for the Sky Lounge and indoor pool, sauna, and hot tub to open...if it is anything like the rest of the building or the artistic renditions, this space is going to be amazing! The location is close to everything: CITY TARGET, work, restaurant row, state street shopping, michigan avenue, river north nightlife, and did I mention CITY TARGET! P.S. The staff and the leasing agents have made my move here and leasing process a breeze! Everyone that works here is very friendly and the amenities are fantastic. Moving to Chicago had been tough, apartments were getting pulled out from underneath me left and right with people either beating me to it or paying more for the place et-cetera. With the tough market I really appreciated the fact that the Randolph Tower sales team worked really hard to get us into the apartment we wanted. Randolph Tower was definitely our first choice, we just didn't know it until we saw it. It's the most unique and well designed complex in Chicago and there's amazing history to boot. Randolph Tower was built in 1929 and was formerly known as the Steuben Club, hangout to John Dillinger. Dillinger's coat-check girlfriend, played by Marion Cotillard in Public Enemies, worked here. Village Green rescued the building and restored the terra-cotta exterior, which should be done in November, and renovated the interior with modern conveniences. Whoever the interior designer is did a remarkable job and has a great eye for color. Aside from all the beauty in the building the 24/7/365 concierge staff are all lovely and the management team are wonderful. We couldn't be happier calling Randolph Tower our first, and likely our only, home in Chicago. I forgot to mention the Sexy Bath. I don't know why they decided to call it a Sexy Bath but the soaking tub with rainfall shower head is pretty damn sexy. The whole place is sexy as hell. read more

I moved here in September and overall have had a pretty positive experience. What sets this place apart from others are the people working the concierge desk. Not only are they friendly, but they are also responsive. The amenities are great and the indoor pool is a bonus during these cold winters. The only thing I would caution against is proximity to the El tracks. If you're a light sleeper, live on a higher floor. I'm above the 20th floor and I still sleep with ear plugs every night. Randolph Tower is the exactly what I was looking for in terms of city living. Great downtown location, in a fantastic historic building that has been restored and updated to provide upscale apartments and amenities. I love the modern design in the building, as well as the convenient convertible layouts that allow me to live alone, but not have a tiny studio where my bed is the only furniture (I have a sofa, chair, desk, plus great size kitchen!). The amenities are amazing with a 24-hour fitness center in the historic ballroom, movie theater, sky club, indoor swimming pool, hot tub, and saunas. The staff at this building are amazing - they're friendly, helpful, and always remember my name. The office is open 7 days a week, and if there are ever any problems with the apartment, they fix it asap. Absolutely love living here - recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing downtown lifestyle! read more

I've had a wonderful experience with Randolph Tower. I recently relocated to Chicago from out of state which proved quite overwhelming but the sales staff at Randolph went above and beyond to make my transition not only painless, but even exciting. Every single employee I have met here is beyond friendly and helpful, I enjoy seeing them daily. The building itself is unique and beautiful, newly redecorated while still preserving the integrity of its interesting history. There are many different layouts to choose from so you can be sure to get exactly what suits your lifestyle. The train noise was really loud and we would frequently get the smell of marijuana and cigarette smoke coming into our apartment from neighboring apartments. I only did a tour. But these apartments are so beautiful! And unique! You get a modern feel with the vintage essence of old Chicago. Its the best of both worlds. If you're looking for a new place to call home in the downtown area, you have to visit Randolph Tower. It's located right in the loop, close to public transit and shopping. There's a great bar/grill that just opened downstairs that always has a fun crowd. I've worked with the office staff for a few years now, and they've always done everything to make their residents happy.
