Finally after years of wanting my kitchen remodel , I got it. John and Nick are very professional , I started off happy every day he left , no trash left behind, made it easy to clean the dust plus it was on schedule, I highly recommend 21st please see how beautiful my kitchen came out. I am a little picky but if a change needed to be made it was done again Thank you John !

John just completed in September a huge remodel of our kitchen and family room. There was a lot of structural changes and since we got a permit he had to deal with the city inspectors. He handled it every step of the way like a true professional. John is meticulous. His site is always clean. Our painter said he did the best trim work he had ever seen. Our kitchen is absolutely beautiful and I would not hesitate to hire him again for any project. Besides all that he is a kind and patient man. He was in our home all day for many months and I always felt safe to leave him here alone. You won't regret hiring him.

We had a project at our work site to redo our breakroom cabinets since ours were really outdated. John came in with a really fair price and nailed the look we were going for. He did awesome work and kept in close communication with us about everything that was going on. I would recommend him for any cabinet project, we couldn't be happier with the final product.

John has been our contractor on two projects his professionalism and workmanship was beyond my expectations. He is the most organized and clean contractor I've ever had work for me, that was very important to us. Also he has so much respect for other people's property that you can leave him alone in your home and know you are in safe hands. We will definitely use him again for future projects and we recommend him highly. Thanks again John!!

John has done a lot of work for us over the last 7 years and I am more than happy to share with everyone our experiences with 21st Century. I will lead with this...I am a mechanical engineer. If you have ever known or lived with an engineer, you will know that we are a picky, finicky, perfectionist bunch. The little details matter much to us. John always meets my expectations for detail and quality, and that is the highest compliment that can be given to someone in his profession in my opinion. He gets the pain in the rear engineer stamp of approval. John as done 3 bathrooms, two kitchens, a custom built in master closet, and two custom built in hall closets for us. He has also done work for my parents (the beautiful kitchen with the blue island pictured here on yelp) and friends of ours. The first kitchen he did for us was transforming a very dated condominium kitchen into a sleek contemporary affair. The second was a completely custom kitchen taken down to the studs and recreated with a new modern layout complete with slab front cabinets, gorgeous dolomite counters, hidden and built in appliances and a new island where there was not one before. Similarly our first two baths that he did were simple affairs with new cabinetry, and a bath to shower conversion whereas the most recent bath John did for us was a completely custom affair where he moved the toilette and reconfigured the whole bath for us. To say that John is capable of doing anything from a simple rehab to to a completely custom room of your dreams would be an understatement. His custom cabinet work, while not explicitly kitchen and bath, has transformed our other spaces, adding built in wardrobes, dressers and linen closets. John will always leave your home cleaner than when he arrived, every day, not just at the end of the job. He will fix something if it is not right or to your liking. He will build you exactly what you want. The last thing you should know about John, is he is a fantastic guy. We love having him in our home, invite him to stay for dinner when he is working here, and largely slow his work down by standing around and shooting the breeze with him because he is an extremely amiable and good natured person to catch up with. We give him the key or garage code to our home without hesitation. In case you cant tell, John Salinas comes with our complete and unconditional recommendation.

Having our kitchen refaced in 2016 by John, which turned out great, it was only natural that we chose him to remodel our full bath. It was in dire need of a major makeover! John was easy to work with and he has great patience. He never once showed any annoyance of us asking our multitude of questions as the work went on. On the contrary, he was flexible and open to all suggestions. He's professional and super friendly. Plus, as with our kitchen, his prices are very reasonable. We definitely have recommended him to my friends and family for any remodel they might have.

Walter worked with us to pick the right product and colors. We went with Shinnoki real wood veneer panels. They are beautiful and durable. Once they got the veneer up, they routed then hand-filed all of the openings. Then that meticulously painted the face frames to match the veneer. They even painted around the drawers where you can see very little of the painting they did. That shows a lot of pride! Walter also gave us the look of frameless cabinets even though we would have had to replace the cabinet boxes in order to make them frameless. That's a lot of extra work. We got a custom job for less than the price of a non-custom job. In the photos you can see the detail I'm talking about. I've included before and after pictures. The before pictures are all dark, ugly drawers and doors. The after pictures are the modern, two-tone look. In one photo in which I have a drawer pulled out with hot pads in it, Walter designed that and made it fit. There was not a drawer in there before because it's under the stove and the gas line was in the way. But Walter moved it. Walter's very conscientious and not afraid to tell you if he thinks something is not going to look good. He'll do whatever you want, but we learned that he knows what he's talking about. He identified the issue quickly and highlighted the lazy workmanship from our kitchen installers (Taranto Construction, Inc in Claremont, CA) who were subcontracted through Lowe's (who we purchased our kitchen from). The shelves collapsed because of loose screws from lazy installers at Taranto Construction, Inc. It's infuriating to have to pay someone to come solve an issue that goes back to completely loose screws in the hardware that would've taken an extra 5 seconds to properly tighten at the initial install. But they know people won't see it, so they cut corners. DO NOT EVER USE TARANTO CONSTRUCTION INC in Claremont CA for a kitchen install, or any Lowe's in the surrounding area, as this is who they refer the work to. After spending a short amount of time with Walter, it's clear he knows what he is doing and is a professional. He even tightened and adjusted other cabinet doors in our kitchen he noticed issues with that had nothing to do with the cabinet shelves he came to fix. He was a very nice guy and I was glad I called him. Thank you very much.

The only other business that replied said he'd get back to me with a quote but never replied to two followup calls and multiple text messages With Sam, I only had need for several phone calls. One was to set up a visit to discuss what I wanted. The other call was to let me know that the desktop was ready. And the final cause was to finalize pickup since I missed his call. I asked for a 70" wide custom desktop to go on top of IKEA Alex drawers. Sam got all the measurements and finish perfect. He also suggested rounding the edges which really helped with comfort of use and not hurting my forearms with sharp edges while working. I'm really glad I Robinsons Woodworking came through. This is a valuable investment that I'm sure will last me a long time, and Sam is great with suggestions and communication. No qualms here!

I've been meaning to write my experience with Robinsons Woodworking for a while now…read more I had sent Sam a photo of a bathroom vanity I saw and liked as inspiration for my new bathroom remodel. Upon viewing it, he asked for dimensions and gave me a price. I gave the go ahead and left a deposit. A week or so went by and I called him and asked how it was going and if I could stop by and see it. I get there and he had the frame built out and it didn't look like the photo at all. I expressed my dissatisfaction and he then went over the details or my expectations better and he said he would raise it 6 inches to 36 inches as I am tall. He charged me $375 for this error of his and called it a prototype on the receipt. With the first cabinet not looking like the photo at all.... I was anticipating seeing the redo. I called and he was short/rude with me on the phone and later apologized. Fast forward to the vanity being pretty much completed minus the hardware. He was having an issue sourcing the slides for the drawers. They deliver the vanity.... and it's Sam and a helper. He has the vanity the wrong way in the hallway and trys to force it in the doorway, and damages the lower front moulding. He doesn't say anything, but puts forever soft putty on it that quickly comes out and the damage is prevalent. (Who does this with a custom and expensive piece?!) He says he will try something else.... Meanwhile, the two doors on the vanity are cut wrong.... Way too short so you see a big gap. He redoes the doors and now they're too large and hit with no way to adjust for the mis-measurement. The wood panel above the doors is twisting and has gaps..... It was just a bad experience on so many levels. I will never go back or recommend him. I should have just ordered something from China, but thought I would get a better product from the local guy. I spent over $2700, for crap. Oh on the last day he was at the house, all he cared about was getting his final check and had zero intention of taking care of the damaged vanity from his carelessness, and was done with it.

Re: We would like to respectfully clarify a few points in response to Greg's reply message…read more Per Greg's direction, we were told to reconnect near the end of our project--specifically after countertops, finished plumbing and appliances were installed--so finishing work could be completed. Our appliances were installed in early May 2025, and we reached out accordingly, again during the summer and subsequent attempts without response, and again in December prior to move-in. At that time, we were told the remaining work would take approximately 1-2 days to complete. We have made consistent efforts over the past year to schedule completion, with extensive documentation (emails, texts, and call logs) showing multiple follow-ups from our side. There have also been several periods where we did not receive responses for weeks at a time. The cabinetry was largely installed in April 2025, at which point approximately 95% of the contract amount was paid as requested. Despite this, the project itself is not 95% complete and remains unfinished. To clarify, there was not a "9 month disappearance" as stated. There was a brief 2-day delay in April due to unrelated home issues, after which communication resumed and has continued since. We have an email acknowledging this from Greg with an apology. We also provided Greg with our contractor's contact information to coordinate final plumbing connections related to appliance installation. We have messages confirming this. Any difficulty connecting was not due to lack of access or coordination on our end. In December, after multiple attempts to obtain a timeline, we were told the project could be completed at the end of February. That timeframe passed without completion, and we were not proactively informed of any change or date. We followed up again and were told Greg was significantly behind on other projects and unable to provide a timeline. We then sent a formal request via email and text for a confirmed completion date and did not receive a response. At this point, several months have passed without a confirmed completion date for a project that has been largely paid for, which has been difficult to manage from a homeowner perspective. We have documentation of all communication and are happy to provide it for transparency if needed. Additionally, Greg is currently still in possession of some of our shelving, cabinet panels, doors, and mesh drawer components that we purchased. As of today, the remaining items include, but are not limited to: * Missing cabinet doors * Appliance panel installation * Mesh vegetable drawers * Missing and incomplete shelving (kitchen and living room nook, as well as inside cabinets) * Crown molding installation * Correction of uneven cabinet reveals (including at the island as shown in picture below) * Shelf edge banding/finishing showing exposed plywood and mismatched color * Visible gaps between cabinets and walls * Missing knobs and handles * Cabinet paint and stain touch-ups These items were expected to be completed to achieve the custom cabinetry finish that was discussed. We have photo documentation of these outstanding items. Throughout this process, we have remained professional and patient in our communication. All correspondence has been respectful and documented. We have made multiple good-faith efforts to resolve this directly, but to date have not received a confirmed plan, response to our formal messages, email or date for completion. Our goal has always been to complete the project professionally and bring it to a close. We have waiting patiently for months and still remain open to resolving this, but we do need clear communication and a confirmed plan and date to finish the work.
