A very nice pretentious restaurant. Very busy on the weekend and it's a vibe of who is showing off their car at the valet. The food is good and is very expensive. Appetizers are plentiful. The calamari is good but a small portion for $18. The soups are great and so are the Caesar salads. Wine glasses are $12-$18 for normal grapes. Cheeseburger can be very good with the fries but once again they are very pricey. Shrimp cocktail was a nice touch. Overall dinner cost about $325 for four people. I tipped 20 percent. I've been going to 220 for many years and the food mostly doesn't disappoint. Their Cobb salad is great with a side of protein. Their appetizers are typically good as well (calamari) and the ambience is great. However, service could be much better for this establishment. Where do I begin? Wine was poured into a chipped glass. I almost cut my lip. Brought it to the attention of our waiter, he took it away without any apologies. Brought another glass and accidently hit me by reaching over me, again - no apologies. There were 3 of us and we all ordered salads and appetizer. Food was brought for my friends but not me. Had to call the waiter and inquire about my food. When it finally arrived, I was hit again and you guessed it - no appology. They also do a really good job with COVID safety, which unfortunately is not the case at most Michigan restaurants. Heard good things about this place. I was warned that the staff is unnecessarily 'stuck up' but I've been to many restaurants in the Birmingham area and never had an issue. It was Sunday afternoon around 1:30 - bar was busy but surrounding tables were not. I had no reservation and immediately the host was not trying to accommodate us. I understand that that typically tables are reserved for guests with reservations but I'm being completely honest when I say there was seriously no one sitting at the tables or booths. She then said "I guess you can sit here". It was a crappy located high top table but I was ok with it because I'm really here for the food drinks and ambience. Remaining positive and open minded, our server finally comes with water. She does not say a word. My friend asked her how she was and again she didn't say a word and left. Still giving this place the benefit of doubt - the server comes back with napkins for our waters but again doesn't speak! I was confused lol. I wanted to order the bubbly bar to get started which would've increased her potential tip but she literally couldn't even speak let alone look me in the eyes to even acknowledge me. The vibes were off and my friend agreed without us even saying what we thought about 220 so far. That same server was giddy giddy for a man sitting alone at a nearby high top table which only solidified that the service here is trash. My first time here. Sat over at the bar to and I ordered one of their craft cocktail: Old Woodward. It's whiskey, fresh strawberries, vanilla lemonade & fresh mint. The cocktail is as refreshing for the summer. I'm mostly a dark liquor kind or guy. Either bourbon or cognac are my go-to's. So the cocktail definitely caught my eye! I even ordered a second one while waiting for entrees. The bartending staff were super friendly and very attentive. The food came out pretty quickly! I ordered the filet tip pappardelle medium-rare. It was cooked to perfection and was served with wild mushroom bordelaise, spinach, aged provolone & pappardelle. It was creamy and the amount of food definitely wasn't too heavy . I let my friend try some of the filet tip and he even mentioned that it was flavorful and to his surprise he enjoyed it being cooked at medium-rare. He's more of a well done kinda guy. But hey, we only can convert one person at a time lol. If you're coming to the restaurant don't expect to spend less than about $80-$100+ per person. The prices are reasonable. It was good but definitely not what I should have ordered after being in the land of shrimp, Andouille sausage and grits. It was as definitely not authentic but I guess it was good enough for Michigan?!? The downgrade in stars is really based on the lack of options for gluten free people. While I picked the dish I did and then partially regretted it, there are not a lot of choices for gluten free options. Many of the options that are mentioned in the reviews are full of gluten. I've been here a couple of times over the past year and every time it's been great. It's super cute inside and the outdoor patio is open when the weather is nice. The cocktails are amazing and they have a great wine list. I love the Fuzzy Bubbles cocktail because it's fruity and sweet and I love the bubbles and smoke from the dry ice. For an appetizer I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartare. The steaks are all really good quality and prepared nicely. But what really makes this place stand out is their extravagant desserts! I've tried the Tres Leches Cookie Butter Cake which was good but a bit dry. It could use more frosting/icing or cookie butter drizzle. They were able to separate meals for sharing as well. My husband and I split a caesar salad, a NY strip steak, which came with truffle fries and the baked mac n cheese. The only bad thing was that there was some weird issue with the gratuity that didn't make sense. They charged 20% gratuity, which is normal, but they charged each check evenly and not per person. We ended up being charged 40% of our total bill. The waitress should have been able to separate it for 20% of our bill or at least per person and not per check. My friends and I came here on New Years Eve and it was fantastic. The waitress was a 10/10 and knew everything about the food and drinks. The food was incredible. It is a higher end/fine dining place so expect a higher bill, especially if getting drinks too. We sat down at 3:06 and the waitress came back for our order at 3:22 and said we can't order brunch after 3:15 even though it ends at 3:30. I specifically asked the hostess if it's still brunch before we were even seated and she said yes. ordered a western omelette with the cheese not even melted. just cold shredded cheese in there. I asked if I could just get something else since clearly the cook was in a hurry and didn't want to cook brunch. She suggested chicken Parmesan (same thing my fiancé had ordered). I didn't even complain about the hair in his pasta because at this point we just wanted to leave. I finally got my food and the bill. The omelette was on the bill and two different prices for the chicken Parmesan. She came back with the "correct" bill but charged us the higher amount for the chicken parm dishes. Then, she went back to the hostess stand and all the waitresses and hostess were looking at me. Very awkward and inconsiderate while trying to enjoy lunch with my fiancé. He even made my friend a special birthday drink that was not too sweet for her since she has Type 1 Diabetes. The drinks were good, we really wanted a mimosa pitcher, but it was not available. Our food was decent. We shared an order of red velvet pancakes and they were so good. I had a veggie omelet that appeared to be more like a veggie taco, with the egg as the taco shell and the veggies as the taco toppings, the taste was pretty good, but it was nothing to write home about. I enjoyed the plain side salad until I found a hair in it, I didn't bother telling my server, I just stopped eating it. My friends were not impressed by their meals but they did say the taste was not bad, just could've been better. I would return for dinner and give that a shot. I had Brunch with my husband here a few years ago and we had a great experience. Well today I came with him again for my birthday which happened to be Mother's Day so they had a different menu. That's fine but they didn't even let me order a couple oysters as a singular option, they did offer a seafood tower so I thought it was odd I couldn't Order a couple oysters. Anyway. I ordered the short rib.. go find out they were out. Ok no problem but there wasn't much else on the menu I wanted so I ended up with the appetizer tuna tartare as my meal which was very very good and I definitely recommend and my husband got the chick Parmesan which was good as well. Our server was friendly but wasn't around very much, we noticed he was behind the bar a lot. So it took a while to get waters and our bill at the end. Also we told him it was my birthday and he said he will see about a birthday dessert but it never came. It's very rare for me to write a bad review but I felt Like we weren't as important as his friends around the bar. I'm bummed because I was so excited to come back to this restaurant only to be disappointed :( I hope this helps the restaurant to make some changes and make their customers feel more special when they come in. read more
