I got the fries as an appetizer - so small for $8. The pictures of the rigatoni pasta+chicken sold me and unfortunately it lacked flavor. I've been to Terra three times now. It's a fun place for a date or a girls night. The food is decent but definitely not as good as it should be for the extreme prices. Everything is expensive and not for very good reason. The cocktails have always been delicious but you get a massive ice cube so for a $25 cocktail you get about three sips. The waitress was lovely but the hostess stand wasn't very friendly. Not any one person because there were about four people working the stand. Overall, a good spot for a special occasion. read more

Look, I get this is Birmingham, but good grief. This should be the greatest burger ever then. It (shockingly) was extremely average. You can see the photos I posted, but hard yikes on the burger size. Two patties smashed into oblivion. I get wanting to go thin, but the patties were destroyed. Not to mention it seemed like I was eating a 1/4 pounder. Not much meat was on this. The $3 bacon was a slice of bacon cut in half. Absolutely insulting to the customer. The taste was fine. Cheddar really carried the burger. The fries were pretty good, but there were hardly any. Seriously, I was taken aback by how few fries there were. For $27 (before tax), go anywhere else and you'll get way more food that probably tastes way better. I don't envision a second meal from here. Shame. How they are rated the way they are is beyond me. Really enjoyed my visit to Terra for dinner with my girlfriends. I ordered the Mex bowl but asked them to substitute chicken thighs for chicken breasts. Was so happy that they were able to accommodate and the chicken was well prepared very moist and flavorful. Very insta worthy restaurant with a fun busy vibe. Two of my friends ordered the Wagu bowl which they enjoyed but one was missing most of the feta while one had lots. Restaurant is beautiful. Walked in and was greeted by multiple staff members, and was walked to our booth. (First booth towards the patio, waitress was tall and brunette) Server walked up to us and took drink orders. Never greeted us and had a rude demeanor. We eventually put food orders in. Have been meaning to try this place for a while and recently made it out for a wonderful evening! We were looking to share a few items among us girls, and our waitress recommended the fattoush and spicy kani krab crispy rice. These definitely lived up to the hype - presentation alone for the fattoush was so fun! It came in a giant hollowed out pita and a little mallet to break into it, the table next to us ordered it after seeing ours. We also indulged in the house Balkan bread and it was incredible. For mains we split the crispy chicken tomato rigatoni and steak frites. The portions were large and at this point we were filling up but all the food was delicious. We had to save room for the pistachio crème brûlée - this incredible dessert was the perfect end to the evening! The space is huge and was very packed on a cold weeknight. Finally made it to Terra last night and baaaaabbbbyyy let me tell you... it did NOT disappoint The vibes? Immaculate. The staff? On point. The food + drinks? Fire!!!!! We started with the Caesar salad + fries and honestly... 10/10, no notes. Do yourself a favor and grab their featured cocktail, The Golden Core, before it disappears off the menu-- trust me if you like bourbon, you won't be disappointed. I also had the Sailor Moon (super popular for a reason). Refreshing, tasty, and another easy 10/10. And yes, I mixed tequila and bourbon in the same night... because balance lol. Ended the night with an Old Fashioned like the classy mess I am For the main, I went with the new Chicken Velouté--chef's kiss, another 10/10. The food itself was solid -- the pesto pasta with pine nuts was flavorful and comforting, and the small plates (like the fritters) were nicely presented. The TVs playing throughout the restaurant took away from the otherwise cozy atmosphere I was hoping for. Also kind of mixed vibes bc it's cute tables, lights- fancy restaurant vibe, but then a bunch of tvs with sports on. Cocktails were delicious- got the forbidden forest- was very apple-y and refreshing, and the other was green something- had pear, lime, rosemary- light and refreshing- I'd definitely recommend both, but will say they were very pricey- nearly $20 each. Enjoyed my visit to Terra. We came in without a reservation but we were able to get sitted at the bar. Restaurant space is modern, open and has a good vibe. Tried their fattouche salad. It comes inside ballooned out pita shell with a millet on the side. So you get to break pita shell into the salad in the process. Cute touch! Also beef wellington bites were delicious! What a beautiful place!!! We stopped in to try the famous Terra Burger, winner of the Birmingham Burger Week. It was delicious! We ended up splitting it because it is BIG burger. Right in the heart of Birmingham, this is in the center of everything. In terms of parking, you can look for street parking or search for a parking garage within the surrounding blocks. It does tend to get busy, so I would recommend reserving in advance. The service was great, we sat on the outside patio so I can't speak too much for the ambiance, but it looked nice from what I saw. The food was great, I really enjoyed everything we ordered, which included the meatballs, calamari, and hummus to share and the wagyu med bowl for my main. We were looking for a place nearby to celebrate a family birthday, and we hadn't been to the latest in the long line of restaurants to fill this space, so we decided to give it a try. We went on a beautiful sunny day, so we asked if we could take advantage of their outdoor seating area. We were told that nothing was available even though we saw tables available when we walked in. When my wife pushed the issue, a table "miraculously" appeared (I never understand why hostesses do this...it's super aggravating!) Our server was Paige, and she was perfectly delightful, although she seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. We started our dining with the Thai Cashew Lettuce Wraps. They were quite tasty, although the chili ginger sauce that came with them was a bit spicier than expected. I had the Lemon Chicken for my entree. It was a nice portion size and was quite good. My wife had the Crispy Chicken Tomato Rigatoni, and she was pleased with it. We briefly checked out the inside dining area. It was very spacious and tastefully designed. Went for dinner with group in their upstairs private dining room. Highly recommend for a larger group (there were 12 of us celebrating a special occasion). Service was excellent. I ordered the Forbidden Forest as a cocktail which I liked and nice presentation. Started with appetizers for table of calamari, meatballs and Beef Wellington. Beef Wellington was good but the meatballs were even better. I ordered the Wagyu steak frites with seasonal vegetables as a side. Both were excellent. A number of different entrees ordered but another one that was highly complimented was the lemon chicken. Desserts ordered were the cronuts, banana biscoff pie and Nutella brownie. The pie and brownie were huge and definitely meant to share. All were good but the stand out were the cronuts - so so good. I have heard mixed reviews about this place but still have been wanting to try it for a while. Made a Sunday lunch reservation and asked to be seated near the TV's so we could watch the football games. The manager changed the channel for us so we could watch two different games at the same time and we appreciated that. The interior decor was beautiful, very modern with lots of photo opportunities. Our server helped us with food recommendations and was excited when we settled on the TerraNova Burger since that is their event-exclusive burger creation for the Birmingham Burger competition happening this month. It was super juicy, the sauce was tasty but it was very messy and fell apart. I was only able to take a few bites as a sandwich until I had to pick it all up and eat the rest with a fork. We also tried the butternut squash gnocchi that they had featured on their specials menu. The flavor was in the sauce but the gnocchi itself was not very good. We only liked the first bite and after that it, it was hard to continue eating. The fattoush salad was very cute with presentation on breaking the pita dome to get to the salad and it was super flavorful. Just enough dressing and the pita bread was a good amount to go with the salad. We enjoyed it very much. We also got the spicy tuna crispy rice and it was good. I wanted to try one of the other crispy rice items as well since I liked the spicy tuna but I was so full up to that point. Our drinks were not too strong and very cute but our server did forget about them until we asked for them halfway through our meal. They were a bit watered down from sitting at the bar for that amount of time. A friend told me their favorite drink is the Strange Aura and recommended it to me but when I asked about it our server said the owner had removed it from the menu and she was super disappointed about it too. Quite packed on a Thursday night but nothing extraordinary to me. Food and drinks (cocktails and fountain drinks) were mediocre and I tasted from everyone in my party's plate . Terra is new to downtown Birmingham. It is an upscale cocktail bar, low lighting, modern, with the now popular neon signs nestled in greenery (and the also now requisite flat screen TVs that in my opinion do not fit the rest of the decor). The vibe is definitely Birmingham, if you feel it, then you'll enjoy Terra. We were not able to get a reservation for a Saturday a week before, but risked it and were able to grab a couple seats at the long, marble bar. Though it was a busy Saturday night, the service was still good at the bar. While cocktails have become pricy these days, we thought their specialty cocktails were overpriced at $19-23. They did have some standard cocktails a bit lower, but I found their French 75 to be disappointing. Terra's menu is a good size, modern, and eclectic, ranging from English to Mediterranean to Japanese inspired. We shared a few apps and truffle fries. The fries were not really fries, more wedges, and absolutely fantastic. They were crispy outside without being greasy, just the right amount of parm cheese and truffle. The beef Wellington bites were good, but a bit dry, and I'm not sure they would be good without the gravy. One of the bar tenders recommended the carpaccio and the hot honey flatbread, both were very good. Overall, we enjoyed the food and I would return. This is a busy venue with electric vibes. It could be a loud but we sat in the area facing the sidewalk and that seemed to be a little less loud. It didn't, however, interfere with our conversations. Our server, Liana, was very nice and took our drink order soon after we arrived. It was so busy that it took longer than normal for the bar to prepare our cocktails. There were three of us and our selections were the Lemon Chicken with pasta and capers which was delicious, the Korean Chill Lettuce Wraps which were a little spicey and a challenge to eat (as are most lettuce wraps) but very good and the Wagu Med Bowl. We elected to substitute the Wagu with Shrimp - again delicious! The cocktails were good but pricey - from $16 to $21. Ahi Tuna Nachos Crispy wonton, avocado, jalepeno, green onion, watermelon radish, spicy mayo and eel sauce. Only Fair... there's simply not enough fish and it's almost an afterthought. Wagyu Pastrami Carpaccio Arugula, red onion, crispy capers and shaved Parmesan. This reminded me of deli meat and deli sandwiches. Really lacking flavor. Modern Fattoush salad Romaine and iceberg lettuce, cucumber, pomegranate, tomato, onion, radish, malts, covered with an impressive delicate pasty shell. Presentation was great and the salad was pretty good. You don't see this often. Sausage Campanelle Spicy Italian sausage, smoked Calabrian, sausage, cream, Parmesan and Romano cheese, chives. The most complete dish here that met expectations - zesty flavors that blended well with the fresh pasta. Out of this lineup, I would only order this one again. Definitely need a reservation to dine here for dinner on any night of the week. Food is more on the pricey side but drinks are priced fine. The poke bowl needed a little love. First, it's advertised as a sushi rice bowl. Sushi rice has a very specific shape, texture and mouthfeel. What was in the bowl was very dry regular white rice. Then the sauce was described as a "sriracha infused soy" - it tasted more like ginger soy and there was a lot of it. The bottom third of the bowl was swimming in sauce.
