The inside was filled with people, the drinks were generously poured, security was always on the lookout, and the staff was running around to accommodate for their guests. This is a special occasion restaurant that tries to attract the rich folk to be regular patrons. Food Portions are unnecessarily huge, which is a huge pet peeve of mine but whatever. Good assortment on the menu but it is not allergy friendly - if you have dietary restrictions this is not a good restaurant choice but they might make some modifications. The meat menu is 'uppity', like they're aiming to attract steak snobs. The couples dishes could feed four easily, and if you get any sides they could be enough for 4-6ppl. The Make a Wish dessert is an insta-worthy dish. A must order for a birthday! It will show up melted but it's so large it's doubtful that anyone would have finished it anyhow. I sincerely recommend the decision maker consider reducing the portions by at least 30%. Nobody needs 24oz of any food. I don't have a problem with the prices just the gluttony. It didn't affect my experience but noticed the bartenders were all ladies who wore leggings and a crop top-bra. They looked ready to work at a night club. The runners and waitstaff wore black long-sleeved shirts and slacks. This was a uniform I expected of a high end establishment. The ambiance is very modern and trendy, bathrooms were not as nice (the restrooms at most Nordstrom's are nicer). Despite my criticism, I Would return and recommend others try this place. read more

Came here for a lunch time snack on the recommendation of a friend. We got the calamari appetizer and it's a bit saucy and filling, but overall good. The salmon was light and perfectly cooked, and my friend was happy with her branzino as well. Checking in gives you the option of a free dessert, and it's normally cotton candy from what the waitress said. It was 90 degrees outside and we didn't really want to get messy, so our waitress let us switch to a sundae. Service was good, and I would like to come back and try the brunch menu in the future as most of the review recommendations seemed to be about those items. read more

Came here last weekend with my friend for the first time and WOW. Let's start by us getting greeted at the door by beautiful hosts with friendly, warming attitudes. We were sat pretty quickly (it was a busy brunch) Then comes our waitress, beautiful and so friendly. She went over cocktails, the mimosa bar, and got us our drinks at a timely fashion. She knew that menu front to BACK, showed us fan favs as well as her own. We shared and got two sweets and a savory. Red velvet pancakes, fruit pebble French toast and lobster rolls They were all 12/10. Everything was hot, cooked right, and so delicious Brecklyn( I hope that's how you spell it) our waitress really sold us the full experience! Came on a Thursday night with 2 friends. The place was absolutely packed which I guess is a good sign that it is a popular and good place to eat. I felt it was a little too packed. The tables were very close together and we were basically shouting at each other the whole evening. In fact later on there was music that was so deafening that you couldn't even hear yourself think. The food was okay to good. Nothing special nothing spectacular Just a decent meal, although the desserts were spectacular. Overall I give it 3 stars. Stopped in to get a cocktail after my hair appointment. Instantly the smell hit me in the face when I walked in. I sat at the bar for about three minutes and couldn't take it anymore. I got an instant headache. I asked the bartender why it smelled so bad and she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. I don't fault her for that, she probably is so used to the smell that. Smells like when you do a load of wash and forget about it for weeks, it gets that really strong mildew smell. Easily the worst meal we've had in recent memory. Western omelet was dry, with almost no cheese and only a few ham cubes. French dip was a disaster--the gristly "slow roasted beef" tasted as if it had been sliced several days ago and left to slow-age in a stale refrigerator. (After the french dip was removed from the table with barely a couple nibbles out of it, the manager said she couldn't take that utterly inedible sandwich off the check because she "didn't see it.") Came here with a medium sized group, we ordered appetizers, drinks, and mains. The fried shrimp and octopus apps were great! I would skip the truffle fries, too salty and thin for my liking. My friends who had the halibut said it was definitely over cooked. The beet and goat cheese salad was okay, very strangely plated since the goat cheese was haphazardly spread across the plate. We were a party of 6 on a Sunday night for my birthday celebration. The reservation was fine, and they called a couple hours before to make sure we were coming. Our server Sam was nice and friendly but felt like he didn't take his job seriously at all. For the prices you pay, you expect a little more higher end service. The meals came out in 2 trips, but one was forgotten about. We sat for a few minutes thinking it would come but it didn't. I had to get up and speak to another server because ours was M.I.A. The manager also overheard me talking to him and then went in the back to check. Sam eventually came to the table to see what the problem was. Why wasn't he told and why didn't he check on the table after the food was brought out? The whole thing was weird. Her dinner was delivered and by that time we were so turned off. Not that we need huge portions but they were a bit small as well. The atmosphere was loud and full of the young affluent people of the Birmingham area. Nothing nice or respectable about it. Sam was helping a young couple that got seated next to us and one asked what a bearnaise sauce was. Sam's response..."You know, a bernaise sauce...like you know...the sauce they put on steaks." It was a total face palm moment. This guy probably makes a good amount from tips for not doing much. It was a really bad experience and we most definitely won't be back. To top it off, the valet for my in-laws took forever and was quite chaotic, and insanely overpriced. They didn't know about the parking garage right next door. The interior is so nice they did a great job with the decor. The front bar has this amazing light blue couch/booth that would be so cool to rent ahead of time for a group. We ordered the 8 ounce filet with side of whipped potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts. Both were delicious, the steak smelled amazing as soon as I hit our table and it was equally delicious. The carpaccio is the reason we went we had heard it was really good and it definitely lived up to our expectations. We topped off the night with a crème brûlée cheesecake that was huge definitely more than enough to split with three people. The trek out to Birmingham for Mother's Day brunch at 220 Merrill was a special treat. We had 10:30 am reservations. The neighboring parking garage is free for the first two hours, or you can valet your car for $8. Thankfully we got to town before the crowds, for the Art Fair, that had many of the downtown streets closed. I was greeted with a long stem rose and we were shown to a beautiful table at a window. The front dining room is light, airy and bright - perfect for brunch. The patio was beautiful, but a bit too cold still that early in the day. If you want to brave the chill, they do have patio heaters. The restaurant is on a nice, quiet side street in downtown. The patio is lovely. Our waitress was impeccable - prompt greeting, and kept up with my bottomless mimosas; which is a prerequisite when choosing where to take me for brunch. The menu is short but there is something for everyone. My taste buds were set on cold smoked salmon but quickly changed when spotted the Prawns with cheddar grits on the menu. Hubs ordered the creme brulee pancakes. We also shared a bowl of berries. My shrimp and grits were exactly what I expected. Savor, spicy (I added the Tabasco), hot, gooey and filling. Without the hot sauce, they were nicely spiced with cheddar and pepper. Hubs had a double stack of pancakes and couldn't finish his plate. Now for the most important piece - Mimosas. The bottomless mimosa are $24 and they have a plethora of flavors to try. We will have to return to try the rest. This is my mission. This visit, I had traditional OJ, blood orange, blackberry, peach and strawberry. (Don't judge, you would have too) The only flavor I asked about and was told no, was ginger. Ginger lime mimosa with a Brut would have been amazing. I just wanted to see how far the bar could go, really. The bar will switch the bubbles per the fruit flavor order - Cava, Prosecco, Brut, etc. The flavors were real muddled fruit, not syrups or fake, which didn't overly sweeten the drink. The bubbles churned the fruit pieces from the bottom. Such a fun treat to have with brunch. Just watch for the pieces left in your teeth. The Yelp check-in offer was for a free dessert, which we asked to get it to-go. Cheesecake. It was the best in-house made cheesecake I have had anywhere. Small and round, but rich and topped with fruit. I believe it was yogurt based. What a treat! Since we were leaving with the dessert, she didn't bring the comp chocolate-dipped strawberries, as the other tables were getting, but the cheesecake was a good trade. I could have done without the crooner in the corner with his acoustic guitar. He was loud at times, and broke the atmosphere. I am sure the restaurant was going for special. This really was a fantastic brunch. I will try something with smoked salmon next time. read more
