It's not my fave for cocktails and apps in Birmingham but it was the only place we could find walk-in for 9 people on a weekday/bar night. There are ample high top silver tables around the bar that we pushed together. The service was really slow and in some cases, non existent, (she just forgot to order the brussel sprouts for over 30 minutes and didn't come back in between). But we were in for a long night of talking and hanging out, so it didn't matter much. (but they could have made more $ if she returned to take more drink and food orders) The brussels app is better at TownHouse or Social, the tuna tartar app is better at Streetside and the cocktails are better at Hyde Park, all in the same price range, so why come here? (because there will be space for your reunion party of 9 any night of the week) It is an older crowd and we are older, (40-50 yrs), so that didn't matter to us. I had the beet & goat cheese salad & added organic salmon, it was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors complimented each other perfectly. Servers were polite, though seemed a bit distant. Sometimes a personable experience can make all the difference but that is more of a personal preference. The ambiance is nice, I will say when we had a party of 7 they had 6 upholstered chairs & 1 wooden chair. There was a plethora of upholstered chairs available if we wanted to switch it out but it felt gauche to do it ourselves. Four of us dined outside last summer. We were told during Happy Hour, that in order to get the Happy Hour rate, we would have to sit at the bar inside. We did not have this parameter in the past. We would sit on the couch and dine and drink with the Happy Hour rates. Given the fact that the food did not come up to the usual standard and the drinks were overpriced, we have not and will not give our custom to the restaurant in the future. read more

The setting, the ambiance, at 220 are top 5 for Birmingham. It is a very nice place to be. Especially on a Sunday, where they have live acoustic music during Brunch, with a very talented performer. And in the summers on the patio, there may not be a better place to have a drink in these parts. But this place really fails as a restaurant. The food, aside from their burger, is really subpar. It was a strange thing, and probably no fluke, when every dish arrived missing key ingredients. Like the avocado toast, which was basically guacamole spooned on untoasted rye bread. It seems like a joke, especially when most of the items are overpriced by about 300%. The service also tends to be quite bad. From aloof waiters to surly busboys and food runners, it is like eating at a cafeteria in Eastern Europe, not a high end restaurant in Birmingham. read more

Staff was absoutey terrible. I sat at the mostly empty bar with two friends and took us waving the bartenders over to get their attention. 5 bartenders on staff and 6 people sitting at the bar they should have been way more attentive. Our bills were messed up and our bartender couldn't have cared less to fix it so we just paid and made it work. I'll stick to other bars in the area from now on. read more

Wow, this place is amazing!!!! I celebrated my birthday party here about 2 days ago and everything was perfect! My waiter Elvis, was on point and so fast with the service. Ok so here's the deal - 5 stars for our server (who was the bartender) and 5 stars for being open for lunch Mondays in downtown Birmingham (hardly anyone else is). Also 5 stars for - Wagyu slider burger, burrata cheese, chicken wings - didn't care for - meatballs (I think they have nutmeg (or some other spice I can't put my finger on) but everyone at our table didn't care for them, and the truffle fries weren't amazing. The only negative we experienced was the management. The manager sat at a table near the entrance with an iPad (probably work related) and her phone. And completely ignored the fact that every server in the place was weeded. Someone from the kitchen brought the food up and slammed it up on the bar pass (guess the food runner no showed) and manager did nothing just continued to sit for most of the almost 2 hours we were in the place. So - go for the food and the friendly staff, but hope that manager isn't there if you need anything! The rest of the staff was amazing so hopefully for them she is gone soon! read more

Met a girlfriend from Chicago last night for dinner and drinks and had a fantastic experience. Wayne was our waiter who was totally on spot with everything. Halibut was excellent. Filet was so tender it was like cutting butter. Taste was superb. Old fashion for me. Wine for my friend. Side note- this was at 6pm and I had my 13 year old daughter in tow. Not only was the staff very accommodating, they joked around with her so she wasn't "bored" . (Eye roll of a 13 ur old) excellent atmosphere. We were towards the back in the regular dining area. The bar scene towards the front and outside seating is always hopping and so much fun for anyone wanting a fun appetizer and cocktails. Location- perfect. Valet guys are incredibly nice and fast. By no means is it on the godly level as a burger from Fleming's, but nonetheless, a very good burger. To which on that basis I would recommend giving it a try. read more

Overall we had a decent experience with our server and the food. However, when first coming in without a reservation around 6 pm on a Monday to the restaurant, the hostess rudely told me they could not seat me because so many reservations were coming (however 80% of tables were still empty) - I went on OpenTable around 6.05 and made a reservation for 6.15, went back in, and now they were able to seat me?! Beautiful Restaurant. We had a reservation so when we arrived and they asked if our entire party was here, we were told they had a 90 minute policy on dining. Now I get you want to move tables, but 80 minutes later when we are leaving and people that were dining when we arrived are still at their tables, what's up with that? And, there were a lot of empty table at that point. If we know you and you are a regular that doesn't apply to you? Pretentious. We order, the server was excellent and helpful. The tuna tartare was delicious. Now when dinner arrived. I ordered the burger. As plates were being served around me it looked fantastic and so I changed my mind of having the Branzino and went with the 8 oz burger. Typically an 8 oz burger is visible under the bun. Not this one. I wanted to do a Clara Peller and ask "where's the beef?" The taste was good, but it almost appeared as if a portion is of the burger broke apart and they served it anyway. Everyone else, enjoyed their meals and overall it was good. But for the $500 we paid for 5 people ( one a child and one adult not drinking) , not top of my list to return. read more

This is at least a 4 star restaurant. The 1 star reviews are just silly. Don't trash a restaurant because of dirty old men in Birmingham or one rude individual. This restaurant is lively, pretty and more importantly the food is excellent and the wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Martini was on point and we all loved our entrees which were lobster pappardelle, short ribs and spicy sausage penne. Prices are appropriate as well. Eat here. From the popularity of this place and having driven out to Birmingham from Northville, I was expecting a little better service and food. My experience was "good" at best, but not as phenomenal as I had hoped it would be. We made a reservation in advance for a booth in the quiet seating area (in another room from the main entrance/bar area) for my dad's birthday dinner. We had especially requested a "quiet" seating area for three, and it was confirmed. Upon arriving, we were, first of all, not even greeted properly as there was a group of what looked like high school aged girls speaking with the hosts (right where you walk in) so we had trouble even finding someone to seat us. Finally, once I got the hosts' attention, we told them about our reservation and we were taken to a tiny, cramped table that was meant to seat two people, right smack dab in the middle of the bar area. We clarified our reservation request, and JJ told us he couldn't help us. When we then spoke to another guy, he tried his best to seat us somewhere else but it didn't seem likely. Finally, when we urged JJ, who took our reservation over the phone and promised us a comfortable and quiet seating area, his manager/ owner came and graciously accommodated us in the "quiet room" in a table for five, which was unoccupied. So it took a good 15 or so minutes for us to even settle in. Our server was very friendly and sweet, and made our experience a lot better. I wish I could say the food was amazing, it was just about okay. I ordered the 220 burger, which, if I had my eyes closed, I would've guessed was a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger from Wendy's. Nothing special about anything we ordered, the crispy shrimp starter was somewhat similar to dynamite shrimp at PF Chang's or Bonefish Grill but still subpar. The drinks were good but over the top expensive. The complimentary ice cream sundae for my dad was a nice touch. Our coats were also taken at the table and shabbily tucked into the closet, on the ground (not on hangers). For as swanky as this place is, I think they should ensure their reservation requests are able to be accommodated before confirming and then creating inconvenience for their guests. However we appreciated the manager or supervisor who had the authority to make the seating decision for us. read more

No where to sit . It was full of want to be Kardashians. You can't help your clientele But you can certainly hire good staff who are friendly and welcoming . The prices are inflated . It generally pains me to write a poor review for business but this place deserves it. I stopped by for brunch last w'end when we were told we need a reservation and there are no walk ins. I made 'reservation' in ten minutes after calling. Once inside, over half the place was empty. Not sure, may be other reasons that business may know. We got a table with two dirty plates which was pointed out to the server. Then two new plates soaked in water (may be from dishwasher) arrived. My partner cleaned it at the table. I still tipped 20%+. Music was super loud as if we were at a night club and not a brunch spot. Food was below average and drinks as well. Nothing special. Putting up a booth outside to sign up folks entering the restaurant doesn't makes this place some NYC/Manhattan type hip place. Completely third rate service, food, and seating staff attitude. I won't show up there even for free because I know what good service, food, and customer experience looks like. It's a shocker that there are so many high reviews of this spot. read more

The rude bouncer said we won't be able to honor your reservation tonight because we are overbooked. Who's the incompetent manager running this place?! Why is this zoo on open table when its staff don't honor reservations? I had friends visiting from Chicago and I was very embarrassed because there were no other restaurants available to take us at 10 pm. I even tried to call the restaurant 3 times while standing at its door but no one cared to answer.
