After buying a replacement bulb (which is getting harder to find as they are "outlawed" now by the folks in Sacramento) I learned that it was not the bulb as the flashing continued. I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to LED rather than chase a second ballast. This was about a 10x difference out of pocket but as I just got paid by a couple of side jobs, we could afford it. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Evan's Handyman Co. Everything from there until completion went as well as I could have asked for. A professional of theirs stopped by, gave me a firm bid, we scheduled time, they called when an earlier slot opened up, and the work was done by 7 minutes after the original start time. Avoid this guy like 20 miles of bad road. I am remodeling my home and I hired him to paint a…read morehallway and a kitchen. The hallway was small, the kitchen only needed two walls and the ceiling done. Yes, the former color was kinda dark meaning it might need an extra coat or two. But he saw that and he hired a helper to paint the hall while he does the kitchen. Three days later they are still here. Here is the gripes. 1. Mendez could have picked up some paint and brushes from Home Depot before he arrived, and there is one near me. Instead he showed up empty handed, and when I asked him did he buy the paint he said "No, I ain't got no money." That means we had to go buy paint, and I also had to buy a paint pan and a roller. He didn't even show up with that. 2. After we got back home to do the job, apparently Mendez didn't show up with any tarp to cover up the floor. So for the next hour he sat around watching TV on his phone while his son went to go get a tarp. 3. After his son arrived, they got to work. Guess what? About an hour and a half later they stopped for a lunch break, and I couldn't believe it. Their work ethic is the worst of the worst. I use to work for others, and no way would I want to work that slow and stretch out a $400 job over 3 days when I could get it in one day and move on to the next job. 4. So they worked from 10:30am, had a lunchbreak from 12:00 to about 1:00, came back, and then quit for the day at 3:00. When they left the job was only half way done. Pitiful. 5. Mendez offered to address some cracks in the wall, spent the entire first day doing so, only the cracks are still there and never went away. Hell he should have just painted over the cracks instead of spending all day for nothing. 6. What a mess they made, didn't cover up the kitchen table and had paint and dust everywhere. 7. Second day also took a lunch break when everyone else brought their food. This break was way longer than the first one. In fact this review is being written while they are out to lunch. I can only hope they will finish this job today and not make this a three day job. Coulda been done in a single day for real if they had tried and had the same work ethic that other workers have shown. At the beginning I said three days later we are still here, that will true if they do not finish by this evening, and working into the evening itself is not acceptable when this SMALL job could have been done. Mendez does know his stuff, he is knowledgeable, his prices are also on the affordable side depending on what you need done. But but no way would I ever use him again, or recommend him to anyone. Too slow, long lunch breaks, comes late, comes unprepared. No thanks.
