I had to use my triple AAA for the first time over the weekend and they sent me Alamo to tow my car…read moreto my house. The driver was extremely nice and treated us with respect...great bedside manners. Fast forward to today - I needed my car towed to get it fixed. The driver calls...doesn't tell me how far he is...just that he was in Hammond and on his way. I should have asked how far he was, but I was so tired...worked overnight and currently working right now...so he got annoyed that I didn't open my door right away when he knocked. I guess he knocked...idk none of us heard it, but my dogs started barking. I open the door and I see he's out there and here he comes with his little handy dandy metal clipboard and just says "$8"...meanwhile I said Good Morning and apologized for not hearing the door. I forgot my card...so I apologized again and told him I can grab my card info from my phone. He just walked away and threw his clipboard on the flatbed. He tells me I'm going to hook your car up while you do that...cool I didn't take long, so I stood there waiting. He starts making a comment about my bald tires. One they weren't bald, but I can agree that I need new ones. So twice I had to tell him how not everyone can afford brand new tires and still...he ran his mouth. Then it was time to pay... I said the first two numbers out loud and he walked away and threw his clipboard on the flatbed again...calls AL and asked him if he wants to run my card for $8....driver told AL he was going to pass me the phone so I can give him my card info...cool I did....and AL said my $8 went through....sorry, I didn't have $8 in cash. He wasn't done.... He decided to show more frustration because he didn't know where to go and if he had to go around and how I needed to let whoever know that he was on his way...I tried to explain what to do and where to go. It was super simple... After he left I called him to give him someone's number...someone who was going to meet him at the drop off location...he got irritated and said let me pull over...I told him I was just calling to see if I could text you the number, so that when you got there...you'd have the number....but instead he felt the need to huff and puff. I called Alamo and spoke to the girl who answered the phone. She was super nice and mentioned the driver did not have a busy morning, so he shouldn't have acted this way and agreed with me that if it had been her...she would have asked them to run her card for $8. I know some ppl would have matched his energy and clapped back. Could I have? Yeah...should I? For what? I wanted my car to get dropped off safely... Plus I'd hate to sound like a Karen and calling the business to complain, but one I'm still a female...where's the respect in that? I was nice to him and I didn't give him trouble...and if he hated his job that bad...why work this job? I wouldn't want anyone's mom, sisters, daughters to experience this...even for any guys. Their behavior is supposed to represent the business and this guy made me dislike Alamo's services. So a shout out to the first driver for his bedside manners. He had to tow my car at night. It had been pouring like crazy all day, so he was completely soaked and didn't show any frustration. He was on call and on shift til 4am. He could have easily been a jerk, but he was great. I wasn't alone, so he had me and the other woman with me jump in the truck so that we wouldn't get wet, but this guy today was just rude the entire time... Next time I'll ask triple AAA to send me someone else.

Their ASE Certified Mechanics are one the BEST mechanics in the city. They're eaisly located at 6949 Calumet Avenue so they are EASY to find. There's plenty of room for parking (even if they looked packed)! They'll be honest when they tell you how long it's going to be to they're able to look at it, so they're NOT going to string you around just to get your business. They're very friendly, always have a smile and everybody who works there looks like they're having a GREAT time. I've been told that the owner (the boss) is awesome to work for and he has a file of applications of possible "future mechanics" who are waiting for an opening...that's VERY rare when it comes to auto repair. Although the shop could probably use a exterior make-over (the place looks like in came from the 70's), DO NOT let that stop you from stopping in and at least get a quote from them - I think you'll be surprised. Just about every morning when they open, you'll see somebody sweeping the lot and the surrounding sidewalk just like they did "back in the day". I have had my vehicles worked on there twice and I've been completely satisfied with their work.
