Ended up at this wine tasting room with some friends and was really looking forward to being there. The ambiance was strangely dark & cold on the day we were there and many of the display items were covered in dust and spider webs. The wines were nice, but the wine maker was a bit off-putting and made me feel like he didn't care if we purchased anything or not. I may go back one more time just in case he was having a bad day. If you're in this area with nothing to do, it's a nice stop to sit, rest and taste a little wine. read more

If you want the best tasting experience in Shenandoah Valley this is the place to visit. The parking is right next to the tasting room. Inside is very inviting, the wine maker/owner was the person who waited on us. We asked the owner Paul many questions, he was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. Ask him how he got the name of the winery, enjoyed the story. The wine was very tasty, bought three different wines and signed up for their wine club. My mother-in-law doesn't like red win but enjoyed tasting their wines. I will suggest to everyone I know who is visiting Pioneer to taste wine and take some home. read more

While checking in on family up in the Eldorado Mountains during the SIP during CoVID, we saw this place on the way in...so glad we stopped in on the way out. They were ready to close when we pulled in but the cool dude came up, said they were ready to close but we could go in and purchase. Hang out on patio with our bottle was allowed ---all at safe distances but we had to boogey. Dog friendly as we saw two pooches and was bummed as we had our pup with us but we just had a journey. Well I went in there and went to town...I got a 6 pack, a few bottles to drive home with...and was like...give me a full case to ship. Support the small wineries and even though I didn't get a chance to taste all the wines I bought, Paul was very informative along with his colleague...and I just trusted them in their opinions on what to get. Unfortunately no pictures but a really cool place to stop in. We did taste the Sauvignon Blanc and it was very crisp with a lingering apple finish. I dunno if it's Apple finish really but it would pair great with some spicy foods! Definitely can't wait to get home and try their wines!! They have wine keys with their names alongside with the 24 Brix hat but didn't see hats for sale...definitely need to find out about that. read more

We visited the tasting room on Valentines Day and had a great time. Walking in, the tasting room is on the smaller side, little lights twinkled above everywhere with inside heaters that set the romantic vibe. It was so nice and toasty inside since it was so cold outside. There is a bar and wine barrels that served as tables with bar stools for extra seating. I should have gotten the gentlemen's name that was holding down the fort solo but he did a great job!! While pouring and educating us on the wine we were tasting, he brought chocolate coveted strawberries for everyone and seranaded the crowd with singing some tunes and playing his guitar. He was an awesome, entertaining host and he's worth visiting again. Now the wine....we had 6 to taste, white and red and enjoyed 3 out of 6 and purchased two bottles that removed the $10 tasting fee per person. The Barbera was $31 and I believe the Chardonnay was $29 and both totally worth the price. We will be back for sure!! read more

We went up camping in Plymouth at the 49er recently, just 40 minutes from home, but enough to get away during these covid times. We decided to go to this winery that is very close. It's literally the first winery once you hit Plymouth on 49 and if you blink you will miss it, and now I know that missing it has been a travesty. We were luckily able to taste and we tasted with the owner Paul who takes such pride in his work. He has his wine list and he takes such care with each that it is noticeable and enjoyable. He will tell you all about them, and hang out with you, it's a nice respite in these darker days. Each wine is full bodied. No fluff, no filler, just like Paul. The distinct profile of each is enjoyable and as you go from one to the next you can see his tasting menu is as ingeniously crafted as his wine. While this is a business, it feels more than that, Paul has made this an art form truly. No mass production, no loss of quality. It's truly a gem and set apart from the other wineries not only by location, but by the heart put into it. Make sure when you head up that hill, not to miss this great one! read more

The owner and winemaker wants a consistent feel to his Wines and keeps them all to this brix in his new and unique winery on Highway 49 at the southern end of Plymouth. This winery features many varietals from throughout California including Lake County and Livermore Valley. The tasting room is in the barrel room making for a cool and dark experience. I found the wine to be typical of most wineries in the region, especially if you enjoy Syrah. This is more of a purist location lacking the frills and opulence of other Amador wineries. It is a convenient stop on your journey with the ability to sample atypical Amador wine. read more

Answered numerous questions and offered so much more than just a tasting! We had a fairly large group of 13 and can be hard to reign in but Paul took command with ease and humor (because I was truly interested in learning about his wines). We were recently in Plymouth to make our last pick up and cancel our membership from a winery that sold out to a major brand. And on the way out of town decided to stop since at 24 Brix had good reviews. The wines are vinted in old world style. No concentrates and wines able to stand the test of time. A true connoisseur's wine. The Vintner is a team of two individuals that truly understand what wine should be. Please, PLEASE stop and check it out for yourself. And ask to speak to Paul. What a shit show. 1st time tasting in this area. Beautiful area terrible location. Wines were decent but service was... honestly have no words describe it. The owners son was calling his employees out very loudly about pours, or lord knows what. He clearly drunk and continued to pour himself several glasses of wine. Long story short, I felt very uncomfortable and on edge. There are better options places with better vibes and wines. Wish we could leave a better review but there was very few redeeming qualities with this place. Will not be going back and wouldn't recommend this place. Our maiden voyage in our new motor home and meeting this family set the bar high for our next trip. The wines are delicious and the company was super. This sweet little tasting room opened in February 2016. Located along Highway 49, it is easily accessible. The owner/winemaker Paul is very welcoming and friendly. $10 tasting fee, which is waived with purchase, but even if you don't buy some wine (highly unlikely), the fee is worth the taste. I loved each of the wines, all made with natural yeast. The Zinfandel was nice and light, a delightful change from other zins I've tasted recently. I left with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from sustainably farmed grapes that were aged in seasoned French oak barrels. More substantial than most sauvs, with a smooth finish, just perfectly balanced. This tasting room will go on my list of favorites. read more

My wife and I had a great time at 24 Brix today. Our favorite was the Cab and Petite Syrah. They had seven wines to taste with a $10 fee that was waived with a bottle purchase. It isn't one of those fancy places up in Shenandoah Valley, but the wine was very good and it was a fun environment. We played music, lots of laughing and everyone in the room was having a good time.
