Love this winery. My husband and I had a 12:30pm reservation on a Saturday. We were about to have dinner at Taste Restaurant and having pre-dinner happy hour and snacks at The Rest hotel in Plymouth. The wines he came around and poured were quite nice and certainly worthy of exploring at their wine tasting room. Here's the thing though. There were perhaps two or three other tables, and this one gentleman pouring wine tastes. After a few different samples, we asked our representative if he would mind taking our picture as we were enjoying company with another couple from Idaho. I offered him my phone, with the camera app already engaged. He stopped me and stated he was too busy to take our photo. Our request for a 5-second picture was denied! In years and years of having asked other people in special situations to simply snap a photo of us I have literally never been denied this request. Me and our guests were amazed at this. Nice winery located off Shenendoah Road. You can't miss this one perfectly perched perched uphill with bright red flags inviting you to come in for a taste. The entrance is beautiful and very spacious filled with wines and snacks for purchase as you taste. We made reservations and were sat outside in really comfy furniture. It was a warm day but the tables had umbrellas. We were presented with a menu and little card where you could check the boxed for the wines you wanted to try. Your glasses were then brought out all at once like a flight which was really nice because we could taste at our leisure. There were snacks inside available to purchase but they did also have a food truck onsite which was pretty cool. The grounds are large and so pretty to enjoy. They have so much seating so you will be well taken care of as a pair or a large party. The staff is so friendly and very knowledgeable about their wines. I was lucky in the sense that my "coming of age" for drinking wine was pretty heavily saturated with Andis wine. You see, my dad has been a wine club member and when I started to drink more wine, he generously brought me along to the Andis wine club pick up parties in Honolulu, where we live. I got to try all the wines included in the pick up for that quarter and I even got to meet Andy and Janis, the owners of the winery. I had been to Napa and Sonoma before, but my dad had been to Amador County a handful of times and recommended it. On my most recent trip to California, we stopped at Andis winery on our way to Murphy's, and it was one of the most unique wineries I have been to. I highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area. There are quite a few other wineries in Amador, but Andis is unique in that it is very modern. The architecture is new and exciting; it's also very instagrammable. You can have a picnic outside with a chilled rose or semillon and they are currently building an extra structure just for outdoor events. The two people working the tastings were friendly and informative. We mentioned we were heading to Murphy's and received some really great suggestions. We tried some of the wines, bought a bottle and enjoyed it outside. Andy even came by to say hello! Beautiful grounds but borderline racist employees. My wife is mixed and the amount that everyone's demeanor changes when she walks in is so painfully obvious. The blonde woman at the front glared at my wife and spoke about the wine as if she was talking to a child, pronouncing "tannins" slowly. The woman helping with checkout also was all smiles with everyone but spoke to us flatly and made us feel like we were wasting her time. The energy shift in the room is so blatant and obvious, we will not be returning. That being said, the tall gentleman that works the front tastings is knowledgeable and welcoming. For my birthday weekend, my husband and I made our way out to Amador county to do some winetasting. We made a reservation at Andis winery mostly because they were dog friendly and we were bringing our two great Pyrenees puppies. The staff were very kind and very understanding that we had puppies with us. They made our very first wine tasting experience with dogs an enjoyable one. But enough about the dogs and more about the wine - we both thoroughly enjoyed our flights of wine and the nice variety that they offered. Paired with food from Capitol Brasserie, it was the perfect birthday afternoon. Great wines, friendly people and spacious outdoor area. We came on a Saturday afternoon, we did make reservations in advance since we had a party of 7 and it's still covid times. Once we arrived they seated us immediately, they do have a max 6 people per table policy but they were able to seat our 2 groups near each other. We each got a wine tasting, but if you buy a bottle they waive the tasting fee. We ended up buying 5 bottles! Their barbera was delicious, my favorite. The Zinfandel and rose were both very good too. The only downside was that it was chilly on the January afternoon we visited. They said they are expecting to get their outdoor heaters the following weekend. Can't fault them for having to quickly acclimate to the county ordinances. I will definitely be back next time I am up in Amador! read more

We visited with a reservation during a rain storm so didnt get to walk the grounds but the tasting room was a fun modern industrial kind of vibe. We were greeted and checked in right away by a hostess. We had to adjust our reservation from 5 to 4, with 3 actually tasting as our 4th was our wonderful DD for the day. I watched the hostess update this info in the computer. I also reminded her that we were celebrating a birthday, which was indicated on the reservation when it was made. Once seated, we were given tasting slips to mark which wines we each wanted in our flight, so we went through the wine menu and made our selections while our DD chose a cheese and cracker platter which had to be ordered by choosing the cheese and then choosing the crackers. Each priced separately. Our wine attendant didnt ask us or offer any explanations on the wine or winery. We got our wine flights, and then our visit went down hill. Our wine attendant didnt give us further explanation on the wines even then, in fact, he left the tasting room and didnt return for the rest of our stay. We were one grpup of only 3 groups and it was 230pm so we should have had no problem with having a wine attendant for our visit, but that wasnt the case. Our group was effectively completely ignored for 45 min. We attempted several times to signal other attendants to get our questions about the wines answered, but with no luck. We finally were just done and getting up to leave when a different attendant made notice of us and simply said the hostess that checked us in would check us out. We get to the register, and were told to waive the wine tasting fee of $15 each, we would need to purchase 4 bottles of wine. It was immediately pointed out to her again that we only had 3 persons tasting, our 4th person was our DD. Once that was corrected, 2 of of our party chose a wine to purchase. The hostess then told us that if we didnt buy at least enough bottles of wine to cover the 3 tasters we would still be charged the full $15 x 3 tasting fee. So we ended up purchasing 3 bottles of wine. To say the least, this visit was a huge let down. And to top it off, our birthday person was never even acknowledged. Thank goodness we had two other outstanding wineries to visit in our birthday celebration that day. So a soggy, windy day was still loads of birthday fun despite the failure at Andis Winery. read more

We recently hosted a birthday party at Andis Winery and were so pleased with the entire event. First of all, Andis has a great facility for an event like this. They have a separate building that you can rent with big sliding glass doors on all sides. You can have these open or closed depending on what you want. We left them open through most of our event. This lets people get outside and enjoy the beautiful setting and also play some games like bocce ball. You can stream music through their audio system and they have a TV you can show videos or photos on. And the setup is all done so that it's easy for you to bring in stuff for your event. Your caterer can easily deliver stuff to the facility, etc. All very well thought out. Next, the people at Andis are very easy to work with and quite accommodating. They were a pleasure through the entire experience. They setup the facility exactly the way we needed. They were flexible on the timing of the event and the catering (we changed our mind on the catering service after signing the contract for the event - they were good on all of that). The service they provided during the event was fantastic. So nice and professional. Everything handled just right. Finally, it's just a great overall venue. The wine is good and they will open any wine they sell for you during the event. The grounds are beautiful. We did our event late afternoon and everyone was able to watch sunset during the event. After the sun went down there was a beautiful glow that made for some great pictures. Everyone enjoyed the event. Some traveled in from far away and stayed over at one of the great boutique hotels in the area. A number of folks spent time in Sutter Creek earlier in the day. Just a great overall experience. Visited Andis on July 5th. Beautiful estate with excellent wines - thoroughly enjoyed their Painted Fields white and red. Lorenzo and team are extremely passionate about what they do. I've visited wineries around the world (Porto, Tuscany, etc) and Andis genuinely cares about educating people about wine. Can't wait to visit again. It was an hour's drive for us since we were staying with friends in Sacramento. Beautiful countryside and car ride. We should have planned a picnic but there's always next time. Visited Andis yesterday 6/13/2020, on their 1st day reopening from COVID19 closures. Andis did a great job making patrons feel safe during their visit. All employees were wearing masks and all tables, chairs were sanitized between each patron. The outdoor tables were well-spaced to keep social distancing measures. Hand sanitizers were visible throughout the facility - from the tasting room, cash register, and bathroom. Rebecca was our host - she was so friendly and accommodating! She made sure to get an umbrella for our table so that we could sit and sip comfortably. Reservations are required for tastings and I believe are limited to 6 people in a group, for now - go on their website to do this. Overall, I think they did a wonderful job on their first day back! We had an amazing day at Andis! Can't wait to go back already! Oh...brought home a couple bottles - I enjoyed their Semillon and Barbera. Was considering the Rose, but didn't pick it up this time. First trip to Sierra Foothills wine country and first stop was Andis. It was the best winery of the trip. They've done a great job with the Covid pivot and now serve appetizers outdoors on a shaded patio. The service was great, the wines were elegant and high quality and the food was surprisingly good. We had the oysters, pate compagne and the salmon gravlax bruschettas, which were excellent with the Cuvee blanc and the rose, as well as charcuterie and peaches with burrata. We also appreciated that they brought out the bottle order in an ice bucket. Started with wine flights and then picked our favorite for a bottle order. The only thing missing was storytelling. When you are at Andis, you are within stumbling distance of a number of great places, and Andis is among them. First, and this is important to me, the folks that work here are friendly. I'm not big fan of the employees not making you feel comfortable about the dumb questions that you have to ask, and you need to feel great about doing so. The folks that work here listened, answered questions, and continued to allow for a quality sampling. Second, if you buy the 1-liter bottle, you can bring it back and get it refilled at a nice price. On my visit on Saturday they were refilling it with 2013 Petite Sirah, and who am I to not want to taste more of it when I get home later. If I was a local it would cost $10 for the refill, but I'm not, and so I paid $15, seemed fair to me. Third, the wine is good. Do they have the notoriety of some of their neighbors? No, they've not gotten their picture on the cover of Wine Spectator. No, they're not charging $15 to taste three wines. No, they're not at all pretentious. The wine tastes good, and you'll find something that you like. Fourth, it's a family owned operation. It's not a big giant corporate outfit interested in being everywhere for everyone. In fact, I've never seen their wine in a store, and i do enjoy many big corporate wines, so this may not be an important factor, but it does allow me to add a 'fourth' to my list. Fifth, it is a beautiful place, planted up on a hill overlooking vineyards, and when you go in November the leaves on the vines are changing color. It was truly spectacular, and I'm not digging here just to add a 'fifth'. They've got a bocce ball court, beautiful flags flapping about, and nice outside seating on the knoll. I was invited to a bbq on the property, and I vaguely remember the promise of a whole roasted pig, but I can't comment since I didn't make the event. Nice people, good wine, a family operation and a beautiful facility all add up to a stop worth the time. We have driven by Andi sooo many times but hadnt gotten the chance to stop, that is, until yesterday.... and I'll be honest, we've driven by because it just looks so fancy and snobby but once we walked in we found out that wasnt a case. The staff was very friendly, the wine was good. I really likes the Grenache, it was really good and had such a unique flavor that I cannot describe. Set in a building with modern architecture, there is plenty of parking and tesla charging station and non-tesla charging station for your cars. Unfortunately the regular charging station was not working while we were there. The weather was very chilly and somewhat rainy, so when we walked in the front door and told our dog was not welcomed indoors but welcomed at the back patio, we were a little disappointed. They opened the back window and let us bring the table and chairs to the window opening and they brought a blanket out for us. They said they cannot have dogs inside because they sell cheese and meats, "Everything you need to make a charcuterie plate." The wine was OK and tastings were $10 each. read more

We bought tickets for the ANDIS WINERY Crab Feed, and later learned that they moved the event to the Amador County Fairgrounds. Huge disappointment. The Venue was not at the location that we originally purchased. They made it seem like there were only 60 tickets left and selling out fast. We wanted to go to the event at the winery, not some old building at the fairgrounds.. The post said the following "Event tickets included 3 bottles of wine for every table of 10," well, when we got there, there were three long tables that sat about 50 people each, and AT the MOST had 6-8 bottles of wine. For $80 a person, this by far was the most expensive and least memorable event I have ever attended. Their crab was good, (provided by Rudy's Hideaway) but the pasta was mediocre at best. All this was topped off by some cheap Hawaiian sweet rolls, that was likely $2 a dozen... Their silent auction (8-10 items) were just bottles of wine, or a private tour of the winery, and that was it!. Our table mates on each side, also thought that it was NOT worth the $80 per person.
