At close of service was charged 322.00. Literally, the locksmith took 5-6 minutes to open door. I got home from being out for nye last night at about 2 am and realized I locked myself out. I inquired with two locksmiths that were open at the time. One place gave me a quote for $200 which I thought was too much based on past experiences and averages for San Diego on google. I called 24 hr nonstop locksmith next and they would not give me a set price, and I had to argue a range out of them. They just said it would be between $100-$200 including a "service fee". I mentioned that the previous place I called gave me a definite quote for $200 all in. He assured me that my total with him would be better than that saying "we'll take good care of you and give you a better price". I agreed to having them come over to quote it and fix it. I'm not sure if the guy on the phone is who came or if he sent a worker. By the time he got here it was about 2:40 am. He barely looked at the lock and quickly said it would be $215 total; I think he knew what he was going to charge before he even got here. I mentioned that I told them I got a quote for $200 from another place and was assured these guys would give a "much better price than that". He gave some bs excuse that it's a tough lock and that the price he was giving me was below $200 before adding in the "service fee". Because it was so late, and I did not want to wait for the initial place to come I just agreed to having him do it. He took quite a while working on my front door using multiple tactics, which I appreciated, but he had no luck. I mentioned that this has happened once before and the locksmith ended up picking the lock to my side door because that lock was easier from some reason. He was resistant to trying it and continued to work on my front door. After about 30 minutes I mentioned the side door again and he finally agreed to try it. He ended up getting in that door within a minute or two. I was relieved and thankful that he got in, but I was annoyed that he hadn't tried that door sooner like I had suggested. I also felt taken advantage of by how they baited me and ultimately priced me higher than what was suggested on the phone. They're preying on people who are in vulnerable situations, knowing they can take advantage of them for exorbitant pricing. Im giving two stars instead of one because I appreciate him putting in the effort and time in the middle of the night on a holiday, but I do not appreciate the lack of transparency and scamming mentality. I recommend trying another place that gives quotes beforehand so you don't get taken advantage of. Side note: He also never asked me for any confirmation that I rent or own my apartment! It's scary to think that anyone could break into anyone's place using this company. read more
