Oh my snap, I need to plan an event. This space is rather amazing seeing how you could easily have a party upstairs on the balcony (over looking the downtown view) while someone else is having "get down and party" event downstairs. Beautiful spot right in the middle-ish of Deep Ellum with so much potential to make your party plans come true. The vibe is very Deep Ellum with exposed brick, black painted pipes and exposed hardware. Could be gorgeous against a anything. Parking would be, in my opinion, in the paid lot next door ($10) or metered (4 hour max limit). Right next door to Cane Rosso, so catering could be easy too. Just saying. read more

What an awesome space!!! First, I wanna say thank you to the 2616 Commerce staff for allowing Yelp to transform the space into something awesome. I'm sure they were doing a lot behind the scenes that made the event go super smooth. Secondly, shout out to security for letting me get by with a picture of my DL, a student ID, and four credit cards to prove I was 21+ (especially since I don't drink at all). Hahah what a night. So the space is super cool, the bottom floor was transformed into this white wonderland with food/drink sample booths scattered around as well as dancers, henna artists, fortune tellers and more! I was only going to be able to stay for about an hour (which almost became two!) so I tried to cram as much in as possible. The always lovely Bahn Shop was there and we got to try the Dry Soda, a couple other Asian inspired places, and of course henna!! The henna artist was super sweet and did a great job, if you see this, five stars for you!! Since I'm elite, I got to go to the VIP lounge upstairs on the 4th floor (although no one was really monitoring it) which was bumpin! Unfortunately, we got there too late for a swag bag, but I got a frisbee anyways! The party poured out from the DJ's domain onto a rooftop patio decked with all kinds of alcohol and dancing. Right in the heart of trendy Deep Ellum, 2616 has breathtaking views of the Dallas city skyline and multiple floors of space to move about. The main floor has beautiful lighting and sheer curtains mixed with brick and a historic mural. It's the perfect seamless blend of old and new. Would love to return here for another event! DO NOT plan an event here. Beautiful space, although it is very dirty and cluttered. We had our wedding here and were incredibly disappointed in the staff for the venue. The venue staff is disorganized, irresponsible, non-responsive, they even no-showed us for our final planning meeting that I confirmed twice in the week leading up to it.......I could go on and on. Randy- I believe he is the owner, will give you every excuse in the book for why nothing is done correctly. They are unable to keep event staff on hand, as we quickly found out in the initial planning stages when one quit and another quit returning our calls/emails altogether. Her name was Karmen Pannell- I believe she is a private wedding planner in DFW area. I would not use her though, very unresponsive- also lots of excuses for why she is always so unavailable. 1) When we arrived for our wedding ceremony, not one table, chair, aisle, or bar had been set up. Our wedding party plus husbands/wives had to scramble around like madmen to set it all up ourselves in a very short period of time. We were told by the venue staff that this would all be done the night before. However, given their terrible track record so far, we made sure to arrive early in case there was a problem. Our hair and make-up was basically destroyed due to all the manual labor we had to do to set up. So much for a relaxing start to your wedding day! 2) The venue staff told us that 150 parking spots would be provided free of charge. As our wedding party started to arrive, we were asked to pay $5 a car. I'm not sure what happened for the rest of the night as we are about to begin communication with our attorneys regarding several of these issues. Luckily, most of our guests had no idea that anything was wrong once we finally got the ceremony started (late, I might add b/c we had no time to get dressed!). This is not due in any part to the 2616 employees/staff/mgmt. The only thing their event staff did for us that night was set up the dance floor after the ceremony. Some of their staff even came upstairs to take decorative trees from our reception to use in another event going on downstairs!! My understanding is that the other event happening on our date had their fair share of problems too. Overall, I'm in agreement with Roger W. Until there is a new manager or owner, I'd never consider this venue again. It's a real shame because it really is a cool venue. read more

I've been to two yelp events at this location in five years. My first yelp event was here so it holds a dear place in my heart. I don't think they had patio open for the first one but the second time was full deck. So lovely with the beautiful lights! This place is big enough to fit 500 people on three different levels. This venue can host most events. Located near bars so if there isnt enough alcohol at a event, your guests could walk to go get drinks around commerce. :-D read more

I can't speak of the staff because it wasn't my event I was just attending a friend wedding. The place is convenient and easy to find. It was great not to have to search for parking in Deep Ellum, I'm sure they paid extra but it was well worth it. The ceremony took place upstairs and at 7pm it's a beautiful site, there is some street noise but because of the occasion it was hardy noticeable. We headed downstairs to the beautifully decorated reception nice size dance floor and everyone we encountered was very professional. I would highly recommend for wedding or any type of party. read more

Great building, horrible owner. Our reception was almost ruined secondary to the incompetence of the owner. It's tough to decide whether it's his inability to follow through with a contract, or his direct disregard of our requests since I didn't give in to his extortion attempt. After paying my bill in full, the day before my wedding, Randy attempted to extort an additional $2500 in order to have the venue ready in time for our party. As promised, when I didn't pay, the following day nothing was complete. For the next 10 hours, countless members of our family had to clean and set up the site in order for it to be presentable. In the end, we had a great event in spite of the management attempts to ruin a long planned event. Rent this place if you're excited about the opportunity to have numerous meetings that get nothing accomplished, multiple phone calls that don't get followed up, emails which are ignored, stress prior to your event, a quick extortiand attempt to get some extra money for unexpected costs, and a day full of exhaustion when you realize you need to clean up from the previous party before your guests arrive. Unprofessional, and likely criminal. Would likely seek representation, but feel that this review is sufficient in order for me to not have to see the owner, or witness him ramble lies as he did though out our interaction. Lisa handled my event for appx 600 guests on the 1st & 2nd floor with no problem at all! she secured tabc certified bartenders, barbacks, cleaning crew (before & after), set-up event. lisa also had late night taco's brought in for midnight snack. we booked our own dj's and had one downstairs and one on the 2nd floor patio (HUGE!) that overlooks downtown. everything was great, and she was a pleasure to work with in an industry that can be very "trying" at times. read more

Really cool event space in the Deep Ellum. There is a large party space on the ground level and an amazing rooftop terrace with views of downtown. There is some free parking directly behind the venue, otherwise there are several paid lots and meters on the street. I'm not sure when I would have need for an event space, but if I ever do I'm going to check this place out. It would be a great place for a party! read more

What a great event center! Parking is easily accessible. There are several different spaces actually available for use, including an area with a dance floor and a beautiful deck area that has amazing views of downtown. With the ability to accommodate several different types of events, you can rest assured that your event will be in good hands and turn out beautifully. I would like to give 2616 Commerce 0 stars. I received an email saying my last review from 2013 was deleted because I said too little. Now that I am prompted to say more, I will. Don't book your wedding here! I was in TEARS on my wedding day. Everything from start to finish was horrible horrible horrible. Clientele at surrounding restaurants and bars saw me in full blown tears outside the venue. They asked me why I was crying on my special day. I proclaimed "the venue", that's why! They threw away my wedding cake and appear to have stolen some of our gifts, as well. Our guests are still waiting for thank you notes, for gifts we never received. The next day we returned to pick-up dishes and decor as instructed. Instead, my in-laws were greeted by a "security guard", who waved his police stick in their face while threatening them. He also told them we couldn't have our things back. What? I work at a wedding venue, I would NEVER treat my clients this way. Needless to say, this is the last place you should book your wedding. Unless you want to end your special day in tears... as did I. I will never forget this awful day. read more

We had our wedding there and it was amazing! It was the first venue we toured while looking...and we booked it that day. We got compliments non-stop about how great the venue was. Considering neither of us had ever thought much about our wedding, Jill was AMAZING. She walked us through everything. I'm very type A and was nervous about everything. In our meeting a month out, Jill put all those fears to ease with an "I'm going to make sure that happens" attitude. We didn't have to ask for anything the entire night - Jill and Lisa took care of EVERYTHING and even packaged up all our stuff for pickup the next day. These people are shifty & deceitful. They are unprofessional and RUDE. It took 2 weeks for them to respond to our emails & they promised reserved private parking which we paid extra for, but EVERYONE on the block was parking there. It doesn't clean up well as promised - it is very dingy looking. First - the night before my step daughter's wedding they were supposed to have everything ready for us to start our decorations by 7, they didn't have the linens on the tables & they told us to get out of the way so they could get it done - it should have been done BEFORE we got there. They are claiming we broke 5 mirrors - REALLY 5??? We didn't break 1 much less 5!! They conveniently threw them away & don't even have pictures. There were vases on top of the mirrors, but the vases didn't get broken, SO I guess the kids were careful enough to MOVE the vases but break 5 mirrors! We supposed stole 5 crystal candle holders & 4 Crystal goblets. WTF would anyone want with those much less that many! And finally we supposed stole a rose ball - WTF is a rose ball anyway?!?! & how do you steal something like that? Put it under your shirt & pretend your pregnant? They charged my credit card $500 for this CRAP, but didn't send a statement until we called to ask (3 weeks later) what those charges were. And in addition to ALL that 1 of them was VERY RUDE to me and some of our guests. (I don't know which of them it was) We gave them the contact info for the Bartender service we hired but they didn't bother to get the TABC license from bartenders. The bartenders stole from us & the camera system that the venue claims to have didn't get them on camera - so either there isn't a camera system or it isn't worth a damn - either way it didn't do what it's supposed to do. Find another venue this one isn't worth the headache! read more

The venue is beautiful, however the staff was extremely challenging to work with. I would have to call, email, text, and leave multiple messages before getting a response. Jill is extremely uncommunicative and acts like she could care less if they get your business or not. We had to rent coat racks for our event. I was told the vendors could come in the next day (Saturday) at any time to pick up what was left over after the event. Our vendor went to get the racks the next day, but no one was there and they could not get into the building. Jill didn't respond to me about this issue until Monday night. When our vendor went back to retrieve the coat racks, one was missing. I called and texted Jill several times to try and locate the missing rack, but never received a response. We are now being charged for a coat rack that the venue lost after our event. I will say, we ran out of liquor towards the end of our event and were able to purchase additional bottles that the venue had on hand. This was the only positive experience I had working with Jill. It is unfortunate considering what a great venue this is and the amount of potential this place has. Better management would make this a great place! read more

I booked 2616 Event Center a day after my 30th birthday was cancelled by a venue owner. I had been planning my party since January, and Lisa was able to pull my party together without me having to cancel with my guest within a day. Her and her sister went over and beyond to get everything I wanted and more in such a short time. My guest are still bragging on how beautiful the place was decorated.The view at night was amazing. Went for the Yelp Summer Solstice - what a fantastic venue! It's next door to Cane Rosso. The 2nd floor deck has a great view, is good-sized, and would be a strong contender for any outside event. It's nice that there are two inside spaces as well, in case there's bad weather. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth checking out! read more

2616 Commerce is a great place to have a wedding or event. It gives you flexibility and wide open ideas. If you have access to your own vendors, caterers, and alcohol, it is the best place for your event. The interior is perfect. Wide open floor plan and beautiful architecture. You can create your own design and look easily. When we first booked the venue, communication with venue was a challenge. However, once Lisa Vorwerk Lisa@2616commerce.com took over my wedding, it was perfect. She was outstanding. Great communicator followed up on every detail and made my day great. We had a great wedding and I loved having my event there. The night went perfect and cost was good for what we did. Lisa was flexible and responsive and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend her and the venue to anyone. Just make sure you work with Lisa. She is a great planner and organizer. The only downside for caterers is there is no kitchen. Another upside to the venue - multiple levels for guests. The patio on the second floor is wonderful and has a great view for photos. Overall - great space for a good value. This is the absolute worst place to have a wedding. BRIDES, all you need to do is read reviews on www.weddingwire.com to get the low down on this place. Make sure you do not fall for all the things they tell you they have and will provide because it is a lie. The place was very dirty. There was no staff during the wedding I had there, the venue was not clean and very trashy, they stole property from other vendors. Do not use any of the vendors they refer because they make an incentive and profit for referring. Also be sure to go to the venue and check out everything before you make a decision to use this venue. Parking is terrible. You have to buy a lot and we gave a check well in advance only to discover that the owner never gave it to the lot owner. He lied about how many chairs were in the venue, the so called DJ that helped us book the venue stole money from the cash deposit that was paid. This venue was seriously a HUGE joke. Wedding Wire was possibly thinking of doing an event there, but decided against it because of all of the negative reviews. If you do not want stress, then please have your event at another place. read more

RUN AWAY! This may be the coolest event space you will ever see but the owner and staff will make your event a nightmare! It's almost impossible to describe how dissapointed we were in the service provided - which included the owner screaming at our volunteers on multiple occasions, a volunteer's credit card being stolen from a purse left in a designated secure area and very few agreed upon items actually being delivered. It's a real shame that the service and support provided do not live up to expectations created by the potential of the space. Please do your self (and your guests) a favor and choose a different venue. read more

I told myself when our wedding was over I was going to write reviews everywhere because I used them so much when researching venues and places for our wedding. I am so thankful I found 2616 Commerce Event Center for our wedding!!! I wanted something unique and different without being too far out there and after searching different venues in Dallas over a couple of weeks I was actually starting to get a little discouraged that I would have to settle on a venue instead of finding our dream venue. That was until we walked into 2616. It was everything I was hoping for and Lisa, the venue coordinator was absolutely wonderful and helped make the process and everything we wanted for our wedding so much fun! Our wedding ceremony was in the penthouse and we had just under 150 guests in attendance. After the ceremony everyone moved outside to the Sky Deck for cocktail hour on a gorgeous day!! I was so thankful it didn't rain because this deck and the views were one of my FAVORITE things about this venue and I would have been devastated if we couldn't have used it! After cocktail hour we moved down to the commerce room for a reception that was better then we could have ever dreamed! I'm going to cross my fingers for another event or something so I can go back to this venue. Everything was beautiful and exactly what we pictured and wanted. I recently had my wedding reception at 2616 and had a fantastic experience. I was a little worried after reading some negative reviews that had posted since we had booked the venue but then I received a call from Lisa who told me that she was the new event manager. From her first phone call I already felt better and I truly enjoyed the rest of the planning process. She spent lots of time with us and thought of all the little things I would not have. She helped me chose a caterer and arranged for bartenders to serve the alcohol since we chose to bring our own. She also reserved the parking lot next door for our guests to park. When we arrived the day of the venue was very clean and everything was set up exactly how we expected. The reception was beautiful and all the guests had only nice things to say and several even commented on how helpful the staff was. I highly recommend this venue to anyone planning an event. Don't let the bad reviews scare you off from this wonderful venue. The new staff was very professional and my experience was nothing like those described in past reviews. read more
