This place is definitely not worth the price. Sterile and uncomfortable room. Creaky and uneven bed. No coffee machine in room. Gym was dank and creepy. No foam rollers. Weird vibe all around. Area very urban and doesn't feel walkable. Actually shocked by all the positive reviews on this hotel. If it was $300 a night then yes. But no way at $900!! Much better options out there. read more

We both really wanted to love this hotel and we did until we tried to go to sleep. First the good. The location is great, loved the mosaics in the hotel and we enjoyed being able to walk around the art district. We had breakfast in the hotel and our server was helpful, friendly and had a sense of humor. We visited the pool and were surprised that it was not heated. The hotel gym was decent, could use a better (newer) bench but it had the basics. Our room had everything we needed (the bed was quite soft) and a great view of the eye across the street. My first shower would only get warm and not hot so maintenance had to come up and show me a safely button to push which allows the water to get hot. This was after texting with hotel staff (a very helpful option) but surprising that they didn't just tell me about the button and chose to send maintenance. We were in room 852 on the North side of the hotel and overlooking the eye. We came back from dinner around 10 on Saturday night and were kept awake until about 1:30am. I guess Main St is where people choose to drive their cars with the music so loud it feels as though it's in your hotel room. The motorcycles and cars also like to rev their engines.... A LOT. The windows appear to be single pane and they don't keep any noise out at all. Due to the noise level, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.  Being on the 8th floor and feeling like I was in the cars that were driving on main st and blaring music 2 nights in a row was incredibly disappointing.  If this was a 2 star hotel, okay.  That is not the case.  Upgrade the windows to double or triple pane.  Your location is great, service was friendly and efficient, but one generally wants to sleep at night and that is not possible at your hotel. We even asked the front desk on our second morning if we should change rooms and were told Sunday nights were quiet. I should have listened to my gut as our Sunday night was not quiet. Although the amount of cars & motorcycles wasn't as much as on Saturday, we still heard several cars with music blaring or motorcycles reviving their engines until around 1am. This was the beginning of a long overdue vacation and birthday celebration and it did not get started on the right foot unfortunately. read more

I booked and prepaid specifically for the Joule penthouse nearly two weeks in advance for my 40-year high school reunion. The reservation required prepayment, was nonrefundable, just shy of $5k per night and required additional paperwork. This was my second time reserving this room in the past year. I flew in from Fort Lauderdale, stayed in a smaller suite the first night. The following morning, I was informed that the penthouse would not be available because the current occupant had an emergency and the hotel "was obligated" to allow them to remain. I was moved to a different penthouse, given a significant discount, and treated professionally by management. However, the issue was never the discount. The issue was that the accommodation I specifically selected, prepaid for, and planned my trip around was not honored. The Loft Penthouse was nice. The staff was courteous. But after traveling from Florida for a once-in-a-lifetime reunion, I left with the understanding that even a prepaid, nonrefundable reservation for a specialty suite may not actually be secure. That's something future guests should know when making their plans. What troubles me most is that this occurred during the FIFA Club World Cup, when Dallas was hosting numerous athletes, celebrities, executives, sponsors, and VIP guests. While I have no way of knowing who remained in the penthouse, it is difficult not to notice that a reservation I made nearly two weeks in advance, prepaid in full, and completed additional paperwork for was the reservation that was displaced. If the Penthouse and Loft Penthouse were truly equivalent accommodations, there should have been no issue relocating the guest who extended their stay to the Loft Penthouse rather than relocating the guest who had prepaid for the Penthouse nearly two weeks in advance. The partial refund that was offered, does not restore the experience that I booked and planned around. What I experienced was unfulfillment of a contractual obligation from the hotel's end while I kept my end of the contractual obligation. Whether I was the least important person in the room or simply the easiest to inconvenience - What was done cannot be undone. read more

Came here since my family was visiting and they wanted to go to a pool and relax. It was $50 per person, and first come first serve for the pool chairs, so we got here before they opened and had first dibs. The view from the rooftop was nice. There was also a nice view of the eyeball in downtown Dallas. The pool was shallow and only came up to 4 ft. Our waiter was accommodating. We ordered some cocktails and food. The fruit plate was refreshing. Wish the cantaloupe was more ripe though. But the brisket quesadillas were delicious. Not a fan of the chips it came with. We had the pool pretty much to ourselves for like 2 hours before people started to arrive. We stayed for a good 4 hours. Definitely a place to check out if you want to relax and spend some time in the pool. read more

Went to The Joule on October 20th, 2025 and during my treatment one of the workers stole all the cash I had in my wallet. They refused to acknowledge that any theft occurred, refused to offer any assistance or help in trying to locate the cash, and they threatened me by claiming to call the police if I didn't leave the premises. Please, please do NOT come through here unless you want your valuables taken from you and then watch the staff GASLIGHT YOU into believing that you didn't have it in the first place. I have filed a police report and will be suing the company personally for theft of $500 cash. read more

Beautiful hotel in downtown Dallas that feels new but has a lot of old school charm. Came here for 3 days for a work event. Not a huge hotel which was nice but very modern looking and clean. Rooms were beautifully decorated and views of downtown were top notch. Bars/restaurants had lots to offer and it was close walking distance to many other spots like rooftop bars. We were even able to hold a team building event for dinner detective there which was super fun! Great place to stay if you're looking for a place in downtown! read more

My experience at this property was such a disappointment. I stayed in a suite that was very dark, gloomy and small. Service was lackluster to just plain rude. The staff had an attitude of entitlement and seemed to resent being asked for anything, even change. I can't recall one staff member who was pleasant or made any customer service effort. I would not go back. Even the lounge used to be so nice and upscale felt like a weird Austin college scene. Easy Five Stars here. Occasionally over the years I've "Staycayed" in my hometown, in interesting and or Top Tier hotels. The Joule has been on my list for several years but, just haven't been able to get around to staying here. My intentions were to stay in the summer thereby, using the fabulous pool that juts out over the street! But, guess that will be another time. For now this 5 star visit after Christmas will have to do. Ill make this easy. Zero complaints or issues. Don't hesitate to Go!!! From the time we pulled up to the front door, our every need was met. The Joule was developed as a pet project by Dallasite, Oilman/Art Collector, Tim Headington. His office is right across the street so, I suspect he drops in occasionally to keep everyone on their toes. Design details and exceptional finish materials are evident the moment you walk into the lobby. Art greets you around every corner and make sure you spend some time touring every nook and cranny, to see some surprise pieces. One of my favorites is comprised of two hanging automobile engine blocks that have been submerged in liquid so that blue crystals have grown on every surface, including belts hoses and wires. Definitely worth seeing. The room was as good as any I've ever stayed in. You walk in thinking "Oh, this is nice, I'm happy" as opposed to those places you've paid top dollar for and are thinking ,What? If you have business in Big D or just want to Staycation like me. You could do a lot worse than the Joule. Let me wrap it up: Room-Perfect! Spacious with room to spare.Luxury materials and finishes Bathroom-Luxury. Beautiful design with separate tub and shower areas and water closet. Bed-King that I cant imagine more comfortable Seating area-couch Chair, top-of-the-line desk and television. I tried making a reservation for your terrace suite and Paris was extremely unhelpful. I explained I would be celebrating my birthday nearby, my friends and I just wanted to have a place to hangout afterwards . Only two people including me would've actually spent the night, but according to Paris the room was not suitable for my "party" (I clarified I was NOT having a party just a place to relax after a long day) if I had maybe had another person help or maybe if she had asked more questions I wouldn't be so upset but I asked Paris myself why it wasn't suitable and she NEVER replied. Seems like a great hotel and I was excited to enjoy everything there but I would not recommend emailing for a reservation, I was able to start one online with no issues or flags saying I can't host my friends there for a bit but ultimately decided not to book since my experience beforehand left a sour taste in my mouth. Please train your employees better I've already seen a couple reviews trashing them so I know it's not just Paris or other employees being unprofessional, it's likely management not doing their job read more

The rooms are clean and spacious, the beds are comfortable and crisp. My favorite was the automated black out blinds. I can't say enough about the front desk and the staff. The amount of people that have come forward with claims that this establishment is stealing valuable items from their clients is alarming. Threatening to call or calling the police on the victims instead of rectifying the situation is even more disappointing. This happened to my friend and out of curiosity I did some digging. If you go leave your cash, and valuables at home. Lock your belongings somewhere safe because they will be taken. My husband and I love The Joule! We've been spending every anniversary here for the last few years and they always go out of their way to give us impeccable service... to free glasses of Champagne at check in or an unexpected platter of chocolate covered strawberries and wine delivered to our room. Everyone from the valet to the receptionist to the waitress and bartender in their restaurants have been great. The rooms are also quiet and modern. The Joule is a fantastic hotel in downtown Dallas! It is conveniently placed in the heart of downtown with plenty of places to shop and eat. There are many amenities to this hotel. They offer a rooftop pool, two dining restaurants, a coffee shop, valet parking, and a car that will take you anywhere you want to go within a 3 mile radius. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to get us to our destination where we wanted to go with the car. The check out and check in service was a breeze and had no issues. The bed, toiletries, and the hospitality we got was absolute 5 stars. Had the most romantic and cozy anniversary get away at the Joule. Upon check in the staff popped us a bottle of champagne and welcomed us with a glass. They upgraded our room to a premiere king suite which had a complimentary bottle of wine and fun chocolates. They even gave us a voucher for 2 free drinks from the bar. Needless to say the staff went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated and special. The room was absolutely stunning. The bed was incredibly comfortable and overlooked the city and the famous eyeball stature as well as a courtyard area of the hotel. The best feature was hands down the spacious shower with a rainfall head. It was so relaxing. The room was also surprising quiet for being in the heat of the city. We closed the pocket door to the bathroom and slept like babies. This was a lovely place to call home for a night and would gladly stay again if we had the opportunity. We didn't get around to it but the spa, pool, and other amenities looked wonderful too! read more

The staff has communication problems with each other and tell me why does the cleaning crew walks in the restroom without announcing that they are a woman going into the men bathroom. Maybe because they don't speak English. Valet crew is down to earth and treat customers with respect. Here's the thing, the hotel itself is beautiful & the valet, front desk (at check in) & security staff are all wonderful, but housekeeping stole my $200 perfume which is obviously something I can't get over and would expect from a regular hotel, not one that presents itself as luxurious. We also rented a cabana at the pool the second night of our stay (which the waiter was great ), however the staff at the bar who took our reservation and purchase of buckets of drinks gave us the price of rental only for it to be a completely different base price by the end of our pool stay. When asked they said "oh yes, this is an added price for cabana rentals on top of the cabana rental itself" lol which the price isn't the problem at all, but I'm not a fan of sneaking in fees. In terms of the alcohol, the mixed drinks I ordered separately from the buckets were great! All of that aside, the hotel did a wonderful job at setting up the birthday package that included 10 balloons, the two numbered balloons, champagne, custom card. I did add rose petals on the bed and walk way entrance. Again, they did a great job on that front. The car service that they have is also great. They were very friendly in taking us to the steak houses that were in the area. Room service was very good, the food was very tasty! The IPad didn't work unfortunately so we had to call the front desk to bring us a room service menu. The phone placement was very awkward as it was across from us on the desk & not next to the bed which was a little annoying lol but not a big deal. read more

So the decor in this hotel is beautiful. The food is great and the rooms are luxurious. I recently stayed here for a work event even though I live in the area. I used to work at a corporate office in the vicinity and always admired the Joule. HOWEVER... during my first night there... I woke up at about 2AM to use the restroom, and saw a HUGE cockroach on the bathroom floor. Let me tell you... I have a phobia of these things! Like to the point that I don't even like to say the word. Had I known about this, I wouldn't have stayed here! I did call guest services and someone came to my room and killed it with a broom. When he smooshed it, he left the sloshed residue spot on the floor until I asked him to clean it up. This is freaking disgusting! Now when I go home I will have to shake everything out before I take my stuff back home. So much for a relaxing and luxurious little getaway!! read more

Had plans to see Enchant at First Park so decided to treat my daughters to a staycation at The Joule. I booked through Amex FH&R. Hotel staff was friendly at check in and the check in process was a breeze. I booked a deluxe with two queens. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn't get an upgrade at check in. The room was still nice and had a view of the Dallas skyline. We went to go walk around the area and when we came back, there was a little tray of popcorn, sweets, and a cold Topo Chico waiting for us when we go back. My daughters loved the surprise treat. When we went to dinner and came back we found that turn down service came in and left chocolates and tucked in my daughters' stuff animals. The girls got a kick out of that too. Hotel is in a great location. Right across the street from the AT&T Discovery District and within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants. The hotel also has a car service. We wanted to take advantage of it but the person running valet said they were too busy to run the car service. He said it would be about 30 mins. We ended up waiting an hour and he said it would probably be another hour. We didn't have time to wait any longer so we ended up having to take our own car. Otherwise a great stay. read more

Sub par experience on our last visit. check-in software was not working so check-in took an inordinate amount of time. We tried to go for a swim but the pool was closed, on a hot summer. The spa was top notch, special props to Sarah the masseuse and Gladys in the spa for making it a luxurious experience. We had dinner at CBD, the hotel restaurant. We had late reservations but arrived early and were seated immediately because the place was pretty cleared out. Our server Ben was pleasant but brief. We ordered an entree to split with two sides and a couple of martinis. The food arrived except for one of the sides that was promised "momentarily". My fiancé ordered a second drink, a ranch water. Ben came by and quickly dropped off a drink and left without a word. It was the wrong drink but we couldn't flag down an employee to try to get the correct drink. Meanwhile, it was nearing closing time and we still hadn't gotten the remainder of our meal and again, we couldn't get anyone's attention to tell them to forget about the side as we had almost finished our meal. It was eventually dropped off, again, without a word. The staff was clearly ready to leave and bustling around , cleaning etc. The lights in the restaurant went on and flashed a bit, as if to say "GET OUT". Ben eventually came by to handle the check. The food was excellent but we didn't particularly like having fries as a separate course. The experience left us regretting our decision to eat at the in-house restaurant. The Joule is a place where an elevated experience is expected. The dining experience was both pricey and disappointing. I contacted customer service at The Joule to relay the experience but didn't hear back. I forgot an item in the room and we returned the next day to retrieve it. We asked the guy at customer service why the pool had been closed and were told that it had to be cleaned because they'd caught people having sex in the pool over the weekend. (We were there on a Monday evening). We were repeat customers and The Joule has been a luxurious treat for us. This time it was for my birthday. We'll think twice about returning, and will not return to the restaurant. read more

My wife and I stayed here for a night to celebrate our 20th anniversary without the kids. From the moment we arrived, the staff was super friendly and helpful and you could tell they want to make your stay as good as they can. From the valet, to the concierge and the attendant at the pool, they all went above and beyond. The room was beautiful and clean, making this an excellent stay. If there is at all anything to change it is the elevators, which can be a bit slow. It that would be nitpicking. We gladly would come back for a special occasion. read more

Have traveled a lot over the years (for work) and have stayed at a multitude of different hotels all over North America...so I'm a bit of a "hotel snob" and in my own mind I guess...likely a decent place to get hotel advice. Okay...enough about all that, let's talk about the Joulle. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon...as we walked in, I was impressed immediately. The lobby was super cool. A mixture of modern, rustic touches and old world charm. Headed to the counter to get our room. Great staff!! Super friendly and extremely helpful. This was evident the day we arrived and continued thru our entire weekend. We checked in, headed to our room and were very impressed. We booked the Premier King (which I highly recommend); appointed nicely, perfect size, comfortable bed, same modern meets old world charm, great bathroom and the shower...EPIC! CBD Provisiona...the restaurant/bar on site; same great staff, excellent service, solid coffee and very good food. Worth adding, if you like bourbon...they have an excellent selection of top shelf bourbons. Check it out. So now we are checking out and leaving...don't want to go!! Bottom line...you can't go wrong here!! Pay a little extra to get a premier room, spend a weekend, take it all in and enjoy. Joulle; you've earned my loyalty and we will be back!
