I've been to a few dentists over my lifetime and I have to say this is the worst. 1: I tried to call the first time 3times left messages with no response. 2: I physically went into the office one time the door was open walk in and nobody was there I walked around to hear ppl laughing and talking in the back room. I knocked on the door only to find they were at lunch and some girl was like why you here why you knocking we are at lunch the door should have been locked. I proceeded to say I just want to make appointment she took my information my insurance card and said someone will get back to me. 3: A week later nothing crickets so I finally got thru on the phone made appointment. 4: Went in at appointed time early and waited to get about 20xrayds and finally saw the dentist. 5: Dentist comes in who could I can barely understand English his 2nd language he poked around in my mouth only for about ,1minute and said oh u need teeth pulled because they have gum showing. I tried to get more explanation but again hard to understand his very broken English. So he proceeded to say well it's up to you what you want to do. 6: The admin person can in and said they were having trouble with verification of my insurance even though I gave them the card and all my information. I was like ok. 7: Here is my card again (2nd time) she then proceeded to tell me how bad it was there can't keep good ppl and that she will call me with the plan. I was like ok and if I don't call u call me. 8: A week or 3 goes by again crickets so I called waiting on hold for over 15min I not liking these ppl at all. So finally through many texts and emails I found out they lost my insurance card so I'm really pissed off now. How u professional is this place. 9: so I provided and ask for the plan. A day later again thru texts and emails I get the plan. It's so ridiculous this place be very aware. I was unable to get my X-rays and I now am stuck because my insurance only pays for a set every 4years. SO be very aware going her very unprofessional unpleasant.. I'll go back to the VA read more

Wow! The office staff was great! Dr. Ngyuen spent a lot of time with my fiance who was seeing him for some extreme problems with his teeth after antibiotics in the hospital destroyed them. He was going to need many crowns and implants to correct it. Not only was he very understanding, but actually went out of his way to make his dental work easier to get done with less "wear and tear" on him (due to an auto-immune disease and disability-related issues.) *not sure why these other people had a bad experience. I did not see anything like they described. This is a family practice. Maybe there were staffing issues at the time. Dr. Ngyuen was nothing but kind. I can't see him conducting himself as described in the negative reviews. read more

I will give this two stars, as I have experienced better, and they did complete the job necessary. However, there are several "cons". Rather than wait three months for the good dentist (Dr. Geduld) I decided to go with the new dentist in town for myself and my two daughters. At that time (August 2010) we were covered by United Concordia, the dental insurance used in conjunction with my husband being active duty. He was set to be out in September 2010, so I went ahead and had us seen a month before his EAS date. First, the wait was absurd. Our appointment was for 2:30 pm and we were not seen until 3:30pm. The girl, bless her heart, because she seemed very sweet, wasn't quite sure how to complete the x-rays, but did do so. They were OK with my kids, but did not appear to know how to handle kids at the dentist. My kids aren't afraid of the dentist but the dentist did not have great bedside manner. We were told in advance that UC would cover the costs of the checkup and xrays, and cleaning if necessary. A couple of months after our appointment, we were notified by mail of a remaining balance on our account. I spoke to the receptionist and thought we had straightened it out. Our claim had not been filed until October (why did it take TWO months to file an insurance claim?). The bill claimed we had been seen in October (after the insurance lapsed) when in fact, we were seen in August! About a month later, we received another bill. Again, I called and spoke to someone to straighten it out. Again, she reassured me that our account was in the clear. A month after that, yet another bill was received, still stating our claim was filed in October. Rather than call, I went to their office and explained - again - that we were covered by UC until the end of September, 2010. Again I was told they understood and it was clear. Now, here we are in June of 2011. We have just moved to the opposite end of the state, and I received a letter stating our account was to be sent to collections if billing arrangements were not made. I called - AGAIN - and asked (again) why we were STILL being billed for something that was covered with our insurance at that time. She apologized profusely and said our account would be at a zero balance, and she would send a new account statement as soon as possible. We'll see if I have to make another call next month. Until then, I don't recommend this dental office. They have been more of a hassle than anything. read more

I left a good dentist and switched to this dentist because they were contracted with United Concordia. BUT- cheaper isn't always better! #1, The Dentist says you need things done, just for the money. Even my insurance company sent them a letter confirming this. #2, The Billing Department is awful, messes up, and wont return phone calls... EVER! I have kept all my receipts- just incase. (But I heard they replaced their billing department w/ new workers, so maybe that part is better?) Still wouldn't go back! #3, The Dentist gave me so many unnecessary numbing shots in my gums. (he kept saying... calm down, your heart rate is burning off the medicine) and gave me more shots and more shots....Come to find out, all he had to do is just wait a few more minutes for them to kick in and start working!!!!!! After at least four visits I finally decided I would write a review. My experience here has been excellent. Of course I was a little concerned coming here initially after reading some of the other reviewers experience. However, I had been a neighbor of An & Kitty when he was stationed at the 29 Palms Naval Hospital, and I couldn't understand who the negative reviewers were describing. So far the Staff have been very helpful. The teeth cleaning always goes well. And the Doctor's professionalism is above reproach. I have gone through sedation twice (thankfully); and everything was explained to me and my caregiver beforehand. Plus we both had to sign paperwork acknowledging the information. I reviewed my treatment plan with my prior oral surgeon and he agreed with it. I'm especially thankful for the sedation capability. Five stars read more

Stay away from this place! Dr.Lombardo is a con artist and will tell people they need some crazy work done that they really don't need (I've talked to *several* people who all have had the same experience). He told me I needed 3 fillings and a root canal. I got a second opinion and the dentist told me I needed NO root canal and only 1 filling. On top of lying to me, Dr.Lombardo was also extremely rude towards me once I let him know I would be going elsewhere to get all this work done that he was telling me I needed to get; very unprofessional. My advice to you is stay away from this office, and if you do still go and are told you need work done, get a second opinion with a reputable dentist. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Nguyen for several years. He is the most informed, professional dentist I have ever had. He genuinely cares for his patients and takes time to know them. His excellently trained staff always makes you feel special! Over the years, he has transformed my smile to one I can be proud of! Honestly sad to make this review. I was originally going to a different dentist, but there was a few month wait for a crown appt, so I decided to check around other dentists. Despite the overwhelmingly bad reviews I decided to give this place a try. I originally went in for a crown fitting, but the dentist said he didn't want to put a crown on for 6 more months. Instead, he told me many (14 of my teeth) needed work. I have had plenty of cavities when I was little, so I assumed most of my fillings were going bad. However, things started getting sketchy when my insurance denied 12 out of 14 of the teeth claiming there was no decay. I decided to go back to my original dentist to get a recheck and as I figured all my teeth are in great condition. The dentist seems to be very caring, but if he was willing to rip through all my teeth just for the money, I've been mistaken. read more

I first made contact with 29 Palms Dental on 12/5/2016 to see if I could make an appointment to have a tooth checked because I thought it might be a cavity. I was able to be seen that same day. Upon arrival, I was labeled as an "emergency situation" even though I told them I was not in any severe pain or discomfort (I only felt light sensitivity). After X-rays were taken, Dr. Nguyen sat with me and explained that my nerves were dying in the tooth I was questioning and the tooth next to it (upper left side, back two teeth). I was shocked about learning I would need root canals. Dr. Nguyen convinced me I would need these root canals done as soon as possible to prevent further damage and that it is better to get it done now, while I am not hurting. Not knowing what to do and scared of the thought of root canals, I made an appointment for 01/05/2017 to get the root canals done. After that day, I was scheduled to come back in for a cleaning. It was awful and unprofessional. The hygienists did not know how to take proper X-rays nor did they clean my teeth. The cleaning took approximately 5 minutes and it was lazily done. I decided to read reviews about Dr. Nguyen on Yelp to see if there were any statements about his previous root canal work. I was stunned to read that many of the reviews are similar to my situation...being told I was an emergency situation when I was not, being wrongfully convinced that I would need root canals, and being a part of the horrible work that was done on me during my cleaning. After reading the reviews, I called Dr. Nguyen's office and cancelled my appointment for 01/05/2017 and decided to find another dentist to get a second opinion. I contacted Lombardo Family Dentistry of Yucca Valley, CA on 01/03/2016 and was able to be seen the following day to receive a second opinion. After receiving my X-rays from Dr. Nguyen's office, Dr. Choo of Lombardo Family Dentistry examined them. Please note, I also had to get more X-rays done at Lombardo Family Dentistry because the other ones were not all that clear to examine (X-rays were completed at no-cost). After examination, Dr. Choo said there is nothing in my X-rays to say that I need a root canal let alone two of them. He further stated that if I am not in any severe pain than there is no need for any root canal work to be done and that the light sensitivity I feel in my upper teeth could be due to sinuses and/or the fact that my teeth will become more sensitive as I get older. I feel I was scammed by Dr. Nguyen. I feel he told me I needed the root canals only to get money out of his patient. To get the root canal work would have cost me $1,920 after deducting what my insurance would cover. I feel the cleaning and examination I received from Dr. Nguyen's staff was unacceptable and unprofessional. No one seemed to know what they were doing and I honestly feel I should receive my money back from Dr. Nguyen after learning that he misstated the work I would "need". Further, I did receive a cleaning and examination from Lombardo Family Dentistry and they caught other things that Dr. Nguyen did not, such as: 18 cavities I would need filled and the lower left tooth in the very back was decayed under the previous filling I had. Dr. Nguyen clearly did insufficient work. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get the money my insurance paid for the work done 29 Palms Dental refunded. In the end, I received my refund. On another note, my first visit to 29 palms dental was very unprofessional. For starters there were dogs in the office, for whatever reason and secondly, I was helped by 3 or 4 people because no one knew what to do. My X-rays were taken by 2 people because the first person, Apple, didn't take them correctly. Every employee at this office seemed lost and I felt like they didn't know what they were doing. PLEASE, do yourself the biggest favor and DO NOT GO TO 29 PALMS DENTAL. read more

I only gave one star because I couldn't give zero. AVOID this office!! I went in for a consultation for cavities and wisdom tooth removal. Staff were missing and unprofessional. It took them 2 months and me calling every single day for them to finally send my referral to the appropriate office. The bulk of my communication was with Kitty, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. Multiple times they told me they had sent my referral when they hadn't. Or pretended like they didn't know how to when I explained it to them over and over and even gave them the fax, email, and phone number with which to send my referral. And when they finally did send my referral it was only for wisdom tooth removal and NOT a cavity fill. I didn't go to the dentist for quite some time, so I made an appointment and was scheduled in less than a week. The exam and cleaning were ok, but I told them that I would have to delay further work because my insurance would cover only part of it. A couple of weeks later I received a bill annotated "overdue final bill". This was the one and only bill I ever received. Along with my check I sent a note telling them that if they dared to send in a bad credit report when they had not properly billed initially I, or rather my attorney, would give them more to worry about than the $60 they called overdue. Avoid this office at all costs! When I got married I moved with my husband to our Marine Corps base in 29 Palms. I thought it would be easier to see a dentist out here while we were stationed in the area. It was a HORRIBLE MISTAKE. I went in for my 6 month dental cleaning and he drilled into 10 of my teeth and told me I needed FIVE root canals (I'm super OCD about my teeth and I take extreme care of them). Before he performed the root canals I got out of there! I went straight back to my general dentist of almost 20 years back home in Long Beach, CA and he took x-rays and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth and to stay far away from this office... he then replaced the temporary fillings on all but one tooth that had pain after "doctor" Nguyen, who just appeared to want money from military families, drilled into it. Anyways, my dentist referred me to see an endodontist to see what needed to be done for treatment to ease the pain (I had pain for about 3 weeks after Nguyen drilled into it). I explained everything in detail of my horrific dental experience with Nguyen and he was very thorough in looking into my tooth. He did an x-ray and told me that NOTHING in the x-ray indicated that I would need a root canal. He then carefully looked at the tooth with his microscope and saw the pain was being caused by cracks, caused by Nguyen's drilling (and also my temp. filling was high which was not helping the pain). So thanks to this "dentist" I have cracks in my teeth caused for no reason but to make money off of another military family. He has not only made a lot of money off of me in his office, but also caused me to have to spend a ton of money for my general dentist and endodontist to fix his mess. I wish I would have looked up the reviews on him before stepping foot into that place. read more

I have been a patient with Twenty nine Palms Dental with two years now, and today was the last straw. I had my wisdom teeth pulled with this facility, and, being a dental coward, requested to be put to sleep during the procedure. The procedure went fine, however I was not told by the dentist that I would be unconscious for the majority of my day. The person taking care of me during this time was also not told what medications to give me and was given no gauze- I am also an excessive bleeder. I was also sent home with an aftercare sheet, and not much other instruction. The friend who took my unconscious body home, stuffed my mouth with cotton balls and helped me to the restroom multiple times. Today, I went to a dental cleaning. Being pregnant, I did not allow X-rays. The dentist, upon my old x-rays and a visual exam. told me that my teeth were in an emergency situation, and that if I did not get them drilled and filled soon, that I could risk infection. threatening my unborn child. This, he also told me, would probably cause last minute dental work and an unprecedented amount of money. He also told me that I would have to endure this pain with only Tylenol, the only safe drug during pregnancy. In a panic, I ran to my doctor to see what medications are safe. I also made a secondary appointment with Dr. Lombardo in Yucca Valley for a exam. I needed a second opinion. Upon examination with this dentist, they told me that if I maintained my dental hygiene, that I would be safe to leave the dental work until after the delivery of my child, so not to risk any harm to the fetus. Thank goodness. Twentynine Palms dental was a nightmare. I believe that they create panic and false situations to do procedures that are not needed for money. The building itself is questionable, and I will no longer trust any words that come from that dentists mouth. Thanks for trying to endanger my unborn child. I won't be going back here. It's worth the extra ten dollars to go to Yucca Valley!! read more

So many complications doing a root canal and crown. I have to go in all the time to have it looked at because it hurts. I feel like they do a lot of unnecessary procedures just for the money. Dr. Neugyn was an AMAZING doctor. He fit me in his schedule to remove 4 wisdom teeth... On his morning off. I am greatly appreciative! He made me feel super comfortable and gave my caregiver precise details on how to care for me. I just wish I was given a number or email to contact him at directly... bc I'm now worried with my swollen face and have many concerning questions. And their office says they're open today... If it were possible to give this place negative stars I would. I had a two dental appointments for my boys yesterday, only one of them were seen, before I was asked to leave by the dentist himself, Nguyen An V, DDS. My oldest son (5) (age typical) was in the dentist chair, and my other son (3) (Fragile X Syndrome) (most commonly associated with Autism) was in my lap watching Mickey Mouse on my phone to keep him entertained, the boys were laughing back and forth and my youngest was a little louder, but making happy typical 3 year old sounds. The dentist comes around the corner, asks me if he (my 3 year old) was Autistic, I replied No, he has Fragile X Syndrome, it is commonly associated with Autism, and he then asked me to leave because he 'MAY' scare his other patients... My child was doing nothing wrong. He was not running up and down his halls screaming he was content in my lap watching his movie on my phone and giggling back and forth with his brother. I would have had far more respect for this man had he sat me down and said I don't' have any experience working with Autistic children, can I recommend another dentist for you. But no, it was 'I need you to leave because he 'MAY' scare my other patients.' This man has no right working with children, let alone special needs children! read more

Hate hate hate this place. 1. First appt I ever made I asked them repeatedly if they take my insurance they said of course I asked them to double check It will be covered. 2. Second appt is my cleaning. Low and behold they don't take my insurance so they said my X-rays and stuff from my first appt needed to be paid for and my cleaning out of pocket I was furious, 3. Lady who does the cleaning not gentle at all. I do my twice a year cleaning and that was the worst cleaning of my life. 4. I decide to get braces I stick to this facility since I just paid for my X-rays and everything here might as well since insurance wouldn't cover braces anyway. First appt is for molding of my mouth. Appt was in oct around 9-930 am. Doctor didn't see me until about 12 pm. Furious I waited there all day when I had made plans. Didn't get out of there til about 1pm. 5. Clear correct (braces) come In In dec. they don't fit. They must remold my mouth. 6. New corrects don't come in until feb. it was only suppose to take a month but it was like beginning of dec for my new molding and end of feb before I got the ones that fit. 7. Appt in march for 3rd tray of clear correct and what do ya know they dont fit again. New molding for th 3rd freaking time. Doctor calls me last week April 3rd says they'll be here next week. Today is April 12 I called this week said it'll be another week. Ive been on the same tray for 7 weeks now when its only supposed to be 3. And I doubt they will be here next week either. Every time I go here it's one thing after another either Im waiting for the doctor for hours or something doesn't fit. I should have just gone with metal braces elsewhere like I had wanted all along. I can't wait for my clear correct journey to be over so I can go to my old dentist. read more

I was told that I needed 4 root canals and had 3 cavities and he told me that he couldn't believe that I wasn't in pain which I wasn't at all because there really wasn't anything wrong with any of my teeth. I've been to a different dentist and was told that everything was fine! This is a dentist not an oral surgeon so please do not let him do any surgical work on you! It's amazing how much work a mouth can need when insurance is paying for it. Dr. Nguyen informed me that I basically needed a complete mouth remodel, that is, 13 fillings re-done. That's right, 13. I have bad teeth and have been dealing with dental issues most of my life so I raised my eyebrows at his diagnosis and calmly said I would be in touch. My regular dentist on the westside looked at the same X-rays, laughed and said this is why she doesnt get rich off of patients as the fillings were slightly stained but beyond that needed no further work. Oh, and Nguyen tried to upset me to get veneers after telling me I have a "toothy smile." I would strongly suggest he work on his sales pitch if he plans to ream his patients for unnecessary work. Go elsewhere if you can, although I will say that the cleaning I received here was the best I have ever had anywhere - the dental assistant used hydrogen peroxide in her cleaning method and my teeth felt like silk afterwards. read more

Today was my first day going to this dentist, and I swear they just tell you that you need stuff done, just so they can get the money. They were tell me I needed over 5,000 dollars worth of work done!! They tried to tell me I have never had fillings and I certainly have. I am in shock after our experience. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. My 4 year old daughter seemed to be doing well as she loves going to the doctor. She knocked a tooth out and the other was slightly loose and they said it needed pulled. They made us leave the room but in the waiting room I started to hear them bully my daughter, mocking her for being scared, yelling at her and teasing her. My daughter cried, "I want my mommy!" and the dental assistant mocked her saying, "Well I want my mommy too!" We had made an appointment to finish the job the next day with sedation but decided we would rather pull our daughter's tooth out with a rusty pair of pliers than EVER take her back to this horrible place. We cancelled and scheduled an appointment with a pediatric dentist in Yucca Valley. We had an amazing experience and thanks to them our daughter is not traumatized for the rest of her life because of her experience at 29 Palms Dental. Her tooth ended up not needing pulled, just time to heal and possible antibiotics. read more
