He really messed up my teeth more than what he was supposed to and now he referred me somewhere else because he knows he messed up my teeth. He wont do a filling on me because i wont let him do another root canal . He just wants to charge my insurance all he cares about is that not you or your health!!! read more

I "interview" any establishment where work will be done on my person. If my checking-it-out visit is positive, I move forward. If it doesn't feel good, then it's not a fit and I won't waste any more time. Whereas others may find experience and cleanliness indisputable, what's first for me is attitude. Then the rest. Because I like Dr Chien and Tiffany, I will overlook the sanitary conditions and trust my body's immune system. Dr Chen is my go-to dentist for emergencies and a couple of extractions. No pain, no problem. I ran from other local dentists the moment they thrust a hundred pages of forms to fill out, along with cold premises and cold people. I so miss going to to Mexico! but no longer possible to make that drive. Very grateful Dr Chien's office is nearby and easy to get an appointment, no fuss. read more

My son has special needs and Dr. Chien scheduled the root canal without reviewing his medication history. My son was in pain awaiting his appointment for which Dr. Chien had been authorized through MediCal. When we asked the doctor about his preparation to administer local anesthetic in accordance with his special needs he said he would not perform the root canal but cleaned his teeth in order to collect money from MediCal. We then asked for Tylenol 3 for pain management and he agreed to send it. After three days of receiving no prescription we were told he couldn't do it because there was no treatment. So, what actually happened is 1) Dr. Chien acted as a predatory physician billing medical for services and avoiding performing the work because he did not want to deal with any special needs 2) he then refused to provide pain medication because he decided that although he prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen when he diagnosed the root canal, once he had made all the money he could off of our family he could not be bothered to prescribe any further medication. As a provider to the most vulnerable and sick patients on MediCal, this is sad and disappointing. Dr. Chien wants to make money not help people. Be careful. read more

I have serious concerns about the sanitary conditions at this business. I do not appreciate having ungloved hands in my mouth. What should have been a simple procedure turned into a nightmare , I contracted a staff infection in my mouth. Avoid at all costs. read more

Went here for a checkup cleaning, etc... Usually that all goes well, been going since I was a teen. Made the mistake of asking if he could recommend aiding a sharp point on tooth. Didn't ask for any contouring, f-ed up my front teeth, now they are uneven. Guess he's used to desert riff-raff and doesn't give a you know what. Now I have to figure out what I should do, probably will get a new cap. Luckily he did not technically wreck another one of my "real" teeth. Will avoid this place now, too bad. My brief experience at Dr. Chien's office was very positive. I lost an old bridge, brought it in and the dentist promptly cleaned and reinstalled it after a full set of x-rays was taken by Tiffany, a real sweetheart. He then did a quick and painless cleaning and polishing with the help of his assistant. Got an honest review of my whole mouth and a price for fixing everything. I hadn't seen a dentist for 6-7 years and it showed. All in all, I like Dr. Chien and his staff. read more

He pulled a few bad teeth and never got my denture correct, I went back and he yelled at me and called me a LIAR. Then wanted to charge me another 120.00 dollars to fix what he took out. Terrible place to go if you need any denture work done at all. read more

I first went to Dr Chien several years ago after needing to establish care closer to home. Each time I have gone I have had excellent care. I had problems with my previous dentist being able to numb my mouth prior to fillings (it would sometimes take 6 or more shots of Novocain to get the right spot to go numb). Dr Chien was able to numb my moouth with ONE shot. It is true I have had to wait in the chair or in the office for my appt, however, I have also been the patient who was able to be seen same day for an urgent problem such as pain from a lost filling or loose cap with an irritated nerve underneath. Dr Chien is compassionate and helpful. His staff have also always been friendly and professional. I highly recommend him for care! read more

I had a very bad experience with a Yucca Valley dentist so dreaded going to another but had an infected tooth. I heard about Dr. Chien from my grandson. He was very gentle, his staff very nice and best of all - no pain! Even though I was shaking like a leaf. Dr Chien is an excellent dentist, wonderful chairside manner, and skilled in dentistry. I had a dentist, who was unavailable and did not return my emergency calls. After sitting here for an hour and a half waiting in the chair with a numb mouth for my root canal today while the dentist proceeded to treat not one, but on to a second patient while I sat there (after I told them I was nervous as heck) I walked out. Ripped the drool bib off and walked right out. Patient in waiting room even complaining about how long he was sitting there. Went next door and ate lunch at Crossroads with a numb mouth. I will not go back, ever. I'm glad I didn't pay the 1900.00 I was about to fork over. I like the dentist and the hygienist, nice people...but that wasn't cool....don't book three people at 9 am when you have only one dentist. read more
