*This is a review for the bakery section at Whole Foods*…read more If I brought home a cake, tossed the packaging, and told you it came from a well-known local bakery, you'd probably believe me. Their bakes really are that good. I especially love their desserts. My favorites include the tres leches cake, chocolate cake, berry chantilly cake, tiramisu, and sticky toffee pudding. These are frequent purchases in my household, and I'd even say they rival desserts from many local bakeries. Their baked goods are equally impressive. The vegan croissants are surprisingly delicious, and that's coming from someone who doesn't typically eat vegan food. They're better warmed up though, as the heat brings out whatever vegan butter they use. I'm less enthusiastic about their gluten-free offerings. While the flavor is decent, the texture is a bit too airy and slightly gritty for my taste. These definitely tasted gluten-free. I am a bit cross with Whole Foods for shrinking their cakes while increasing the prices. Three years ago, their tiramisu almost filled the entire plastic box. Now it's been reduced to nearly half the size! I'm so irked by the flagrant shrinkflation here. I hope Whole Foods does something about it.

I usually go to the Whole Foods located on East 87 St. & 3rd Ave. when I'm looking for something…read morespecial or different to buy. It's a bit pricey here but they have a wide variety of healthy products. This time I wanted a cake & it was creamy, delicious & not the usual run of the mill generic supermarket cake. It's ok to pay for fresh, good quality specialty food when the whim strikes you. Well deserved. The multi-level supermarket is always bright, clean & organized. They even have a food court with seating if you choose to get a bite to eat & the restrooms are clean. The associates are polite, do their job & accommodating whenever possible.
