    Cold brew $7
    Lauren C.

This is a grocery store that looks beautiful but does not live up to expectations. Things we were excited about: 1. The "artisan" bakery: the bread is homemade but somehow does not seem particularly fresh. The focaccia is saran wrapped and made with a blend of olive oil and sunflower oil. Would have expected better from a place claiming to serve Mediterranean home cooked food. The pastry shelves also included the same green pistachio muffins, bagels, and doughnuts found at your nearest sidewalk coffee cart. 2. The coffee bar: above average coffee, but I was annoyed that a small cold brew with oat milk was $6.50 ($7 with taxes). The coffee is from For Five, a roaster out of Queens. 3. The prepared food: largely free of seed oils which is a big plus, but few vegan options. They had homemade hummus, and we tried the jalapeño one that had literally one small piece of jalapeño in the whole tub. It also tasted like they used basil instead of cilantro. Weird. 4. The grocery section: we were hoping for some interesting specialty items such as kombucha, meat alternatives, plant milks, interesting pastas, etc. but everything was pretty standard and not much beyond what you'd find at an average grocery store around town. Overall, we were looking forward to having an alternative to NYC's mediocre grocery scene, but Ermina's is ultimately just a larger and more photogenic version of Westside Market. (They didn't even bother to change the Westside Market labels on some of their prepared food items.) They have a lot of potential, but we will probably give them awhile before returning so they have time to work out some of the kinks.

To be honest, I am kind of obsessed with this place! I am so glad that they have so many prepared foods, and also, a lovely coffee bar in the front! Smiley face the price is at the "for five" coffee bar are certainly reasonable. Although, the portions are a little bit small. The cashiers don't know how to speak English! Because I tried to talk to one of them, and they didn't respond, but they did their job fine other than that. The produce and groceries itself are a little bit more expensive than, say, Trader Joe's, but for the convenience of being in the area, and the lovely ambience of the grocery store, I would say that it is worth it! They have a lot of gourmet foods, and carry brands like the juices from Pressed Juicery®, while also making their own freshly pressed juices.

    Youghurt purchased January 14th 2026

Ermina supermarket sells expired produce. There's no quality control in this establishment. On January 14th 2026 I bought youghurt that expired December 13th 2025. I also bought a block of cheese that was on sale and it has zero flavor. Makes me think it's expired long time ago as well. Avoid this dishonest place, maybe dangerous for your health

Small space inside but you don't need much space to make bussin sandwiches. Walking or public transportation is preferred. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here after a long day doing booth duty at a summit and was starving from not eating the entire day. Fortunatley the place was pretty quiet since it was 2pm and I got my orders in. For sandwiches, I ended up getting the Favolosa and the Italiana. The favolosa had a delicious artichoke cream and salami that was a banger. The italiana had all your great italian cured meats as well as a truffle cream sauce that made the umami bomb even more umami. So good! THE FINAL BAMBOO: The two sandwiches were around $45, a little pricier on the sandwich side but man are they delicious. I'll definitely be back when I'm in NYC.

Someone order a Hot Italian? Here I am…read more The legendary Florentine sandwich shop achieved global fame by earning some of the highest praise in food journalism for its massive, fresh-baked schiacciata sandwiches. Google their name and "best" and get hundreds of hits, but the majors who crowned them "best sandwich" title include Saveur Magazine, the big one touted by the family; Eater NY, ranking La Paradiso the most elite Italian sandwich outside of Italy; Las Vegas Weekly, who crowned them "Home of the world's best sandwiches"; TripAdvisor, for whom the Italian original is the most reviewed eatery with a near perfect rating; and The Infatuation NYC guides who promise the execution of the crispy, airy schiacciata bread completely justifies the hype. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). Were they life-changing? No. But I rank Paradiso a 8.8 and Hot Italian a 10. And because everyone is hard-working and everything is so freshly prepared and cut, it's a class act. They should seriously make a sign that says, "Can't decide? Get two!" and then give me free sandwiches on my yearly trips for the idea.

We ducked here to grab some nourishment before I became to hangry. Ordering takes place at the counter then grab a table. I had a 1/2 bowl of their "famous chicken soup" and 1/2 pastrami sandwich. Had good flavor and was enough to warm me up on this brisk morning. My niece did a bagel, and after trying all week she finally got one exactly how she wanted it made. We ate and chilled for a bit, no plans for the day other than making it to the airport to go home. Was able to people watch and catch up without feeling rushed to leave. Saw locals come through, so you know it is a place worth stopping. The staff were nice and even apologized for not being able to give me the soup I wanted in a half order. Though things can often get overlooked and passed by in the hustle and bustle of the city...stop in and relax while you grab a bite to eat.

Date of visit: April 14, 2026…read more Our friend wanted to go to a real New York deli during her first trip to the city and this is the one in the vicinity of Times Square and our evening show that was the highest rated according to my fellow Yelpers, but I am not quite sure why based on our experience. Things did start out great, with Boudjema being very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. And once we got seated, we were able to fully appreciate the vibe, both in the primarily 70s playlist, but also the mirror and brass touches across the restaurant. Food-wise, however, there were some definite opportunities. My Roasted Turkey sandwich did come on quite possibly the best rye bread I have ever had, warm and flavorful. But while the gravy was also good, the turkey was cold. This odd temperature mismatch made it hard to appreciate the generous portion of meat on the sandwich. We also ordered some tater tots and those were quite good. While it definitely could have been worse--and I've had worse in New York City--this also could have been so much better.
