I had someone else at another salon who wasted almost a year of my time with upselling me these fake protein treatments before she would do a simple highlite. She actually convinced me my hair was shot and I needed this. I went with it. Then she cut my hair and completely ruined the shape. That was it. Searched around locally. Stumbled across Stellas Salon info on FB. Messaged. She got me in. She took one look and got it right back to where I wanted it without having to cut a lot more off like I thought! Then she started coloring my hair and through all of the many highlites my hair has never been fried and always feels so soft. I even went behind her back and dyed my hair like almost black and after two visits I'm blonde again. Again with completely healthy hair. Even though there are a ton of salons in Schuylerville for some reason I absolutely love Michelle at Stellas Salon. I've sent my sister there who now only goes there. Located near the VT/NY border this is a fantastic salon. I just moved back to Bennington Vermont the other day and was in desperate need of the grooming I haven't kept up on for the past few months while house hunting, packing, moving and now unpacking. I needed a break to make myself feel more like, well, myself - and I got it. I made an appointment with Sara for 4 pm. I have known Sara for years and was actually her first haircut when she was in hair school but that was the first and only time she cut my hair - and it was just a little more than a trim. Yesterday, though, was the whole shebang: color, cut, wax... and, friend or not, it was fantastic. Sara blended the haircolor to match, processed long enough to cover my very stubborn grey streak, and cut it EXACTLY how I wanted. She also waxed my brows and a few randoms on my face. My brows are a nightmare between a scar on my left one and also a few hairs that kind of hide but are long and will stick out randomly. Not only did she wax but she cleaned up with tweezers and scissors - her meticulous nature is exactly what I love in a stylist. Sara was also very understanding that I am officiating a wedding in a month so I needed the cut to be more about cutting out some bulk in the back (I have a LOT of hair) but keeping the front essentially the same so that I can easily have my hair blown out the day of the wedding. In addition to Sara's expertise, the shop is GREAT. I love the aesthetic - lots of wood and instead of traditional stations stylists have beautiful old hutches. There are lots of other things going on in the shop from nutrition counseling and art therapy to massages and tarot. I'm really looking forward to checking out more about it and also doing something a little more exciting with my hair the next time I go see Sara - maybe a pop of color for the fall!

Went to their website to book an up-do and was very excited about my appointment, I've never had a…read moredisappointing service here. Booking online is quick and easy and I was able to get a slot in prior to my event that evening. I was greeted and welcomed in with lots of energy and things quickly turned to confusion for me as I was not sure why: 1. I needed to bring my hair dry to an up-do appointment (I have curly hair) -- every up do I've ever had at any other salon they actually have washed my hair first and then did my hair * my stylist told me it was not possible to dry my hair straight and do an up do in the time of an updo appointment. This caused major confusion and made my experience not really enjoyable as I was wondering why the stylist was mad I came to the appointment with wet hair. Additionally, I went online to check "how long" is an up do schedule for and its scheduled and priced the same as a wash cut and style at 1 hour and 15 minutes. My hair never takes more than around 20 minutes to dry and honestly, even without a Brazilian, my hair only took 40 minutes, which means it would leave 35 minutes for up doing. ----- I'm not sure if the stylist was rushing due to being overbooked or wanting a break or being mad my hair was wet. We had good chats and it turned into a decent experience about 20 minutes in once my hair was dried. ----- It is my fault I didn't come with any pictures I guess of what I wanted and they had no styling books that I could see. I told the stylist I wanted a "low bun thing that looks like a fold over similar to a braid that is a bit loose and has a bit of height and volume to the top and sides." Ultimately, it turned out alright - I had felt rushed the entire appointment which was booked for 1 hr 15 minutes, the stylist finished exactly at the 45 minute mark and that's with me taking 4 minutes to settle in. So the hair was 41 minutes for an hour and fifteen minute appointment. When I ask meta AI to create what I told the stylist, the hair I wanted came up, however, it was not what I received in person. Ultimately, the up do worked, photos came out okay and I can't blame anyone but myself for the fly aways and style, because I didn't bring photos. I don't know if I'll do this service here again, because 45 minutes of a 75 minute service and being told it was not possible due to me coming in with wet hair and not getting a shampoo.... This wasn't ideal. The fact you want clients coming in with dry hair should be somehow communicated to the client in the future. Plus, the stylists have different blow dryers, so getting a Dyson is not guaranteed. The experience was a lesson learned.

I am very happy to report that Emma is a magician with her "gentle wax" method and left my face feeling renewed and fresh. It did not feel raw afterwards and I've had no outbreak of any kind. (My skin tends to dryness and I am in my 70's, just FYI.) She is very easy to engage with and we had a few laughs- I hope I wasn't too loud! The salon has a great vibe and is spic and span clean. There's plenty of parking. I will be going back as recommended in 5 weeks for followup waxing, but I must try a full day spa treatment before that. Ya have to treat yourself right, right?!

Boy was I WRONG! Michele, from Long Island, is the quintessential nail professional! She knew just how to do my gel nails (not just gel polish) and tips. She was very receptive to my very specific requests. She was friendly, funny and very skilled. The personal attention was a real treat! The salon itself SHOCKED me, as it was absolutely gorgeous. Clean, modern, elegantly decorated and meticulously kept. I felt like I was in an exclusive, private spa at a 5 star resort.
