We were a bunch of misfits, all gathered for a chance to play this wonderful team sport. When I joined, our fearless leader stated he didn't expect us to be good but he expected that we have fun. Unfortunately, today was a completely different story. We understand that safety rules exist for a reason, but the consistency and attitude from the staff today were awful. First, one staff member kindly asked me to separate my kids into different sections of the bowl so they wouldn't bump into each other because they are " inexperience" he said. I happily complied. Shortly after, another staff member came over with an angry tone and stated that only one kid could be in the bowl at a time. If that is the policy, that's fine but the staff needs to be on the same page, and they certainly don't need to be mean. It really felt like my kids were being singled out and penalized just for not being expert skateboarders yet. Super discouraging environment today.

However, it is on the longer side, so I recommend coming prepared for a bit of distance. The views definitely make it worth it though. You can always ditch and go back to your car at any point if you find the hike too long. One of my favorite parts is that there are some great coffee shops you can stop by near different access points along the loop. The area also feels very safe. Overall, this is a perfect go-to trail if you're looking for something scenic and easy.

This little plot of land feels like a nature oasis, easily accessible, but hidden from the craziness that's Southern California. While I still enjoy a relaxing walk here, I've recently started paddle boarding the Newport Back Bay. I couldn't list a better location for paddleboarding. It feels like it's just you, the ocean, and tons of wildlife. You'll stumble upon jumping fish, crabs, stingray, and all types of unique birds. Such an incredible escape, crazy that it's right in the center of Newport Beach.

There's vending machine as well. Be careful - watch out for coyotes because Peter Canyon Trail is next to the park.

Bathrooms are clean enough and decently well stocked. Parents can grab a seat on one of many benches and there is good visibility as the kids run from area to area. There are baby and regular swings, and one big flat disk that you can lay down on. There are also spider web ropes for climbing. The softball fields are great for running the bases in between games, or flying a kite in the outfield. We tend to come in the evenings when it's cold so we haven't had a chance to use the splash pad but the structures in the area are still available for climbing. Solid choice for running off some kid energy.
