Excellent BBQ eatery. Enjoyed a brisket sandwich and a hotdog on the deck, overlooking the Wind river. The brisket was outstanding. So was the hotdog. The restaurant is small but clean and tidy. Maybe it was an off day, but this was not good. I am a que snob though, smoke my own meats and frequent bbq joints all over the US. We had the chopped brisket sandwich and 3ribs with a side of potato salad. The ribs were so tough I literally couldn't chew them, they weren't cut so that didn't help. They're not *supposed* to fall off the bone, but I should be able to eat them! The potato salad was bland and the chopped brisket was very tough to chew as well. The service was friendly and the ambiance cute. I just do not recommend the food...ours was not edible. Again, maybe because it was a Thursday mid afternoon...but $60 we could've eaten better for sure. We had high hopes from the previous reviews...but the food did not deliver. read more

Shelly H was a bit harsh but not far off. I am a local and de visit the 2Z from time to time but only have the pulled pork and the huckleberry margaritas. While in Dubois, WY we decided to try 2Z's BBQ and we were so glad we did! We loved the food from the smoked turkey leg to the brisket and the ribs, everything was beyond our expectations! We have to mention grandma's baked beans and the velvety macaroni and cheese! We sat outside with a beautiful view of the Wind River on a warm Wyoming day. Everyone was friendly and they even brought our huckleberry margaritas to enjoy on the porch before our dinner. We loved it and will be back! read more

2Z's replaced The Lone Burrito, a friendly place that had decent Mexican food and good burgers at a reasonable small-town price. A popular restaurant can be a hard act to follow, so when I was disappointed with the food and pricing on my initial visit I decided to wait a couple of months to see if they found their feet. They didn't. On my first visit I and a friend tried the brisket: mine the sliced entree and hers on a sandwich. Mine, while advertised as a large portion, was poorly trimmed (about 1/4 fat and gristle), sliced too thick, and tough. Hers was also tough and cut in 1/2-inch chunks instead of sliced thin. The chunks kept falling out of the bun. When we came back three months later we both tried the pulled pork, thinking that would be pretty hard to get wrong (I've made this at home myself after all). Not so. This time the meat was cooked to mush and not drained. As a result, the sauce (one choice) wouldn't stick to the meat. It was a soggy mess. The sides didn't change from one visit to the other and were a la carte, which put the bill for two lunches about $15 more than I would have expected at this kind of place. The potato salad and beans had little flavor and the "cole slaw" was simply sliced cabbage and vinegar, and too sour. The corn bread "muffins" were cold, little silver-dollar-sized rounds and sticky sweet, similar to what you'd buy bagged at a low-end convenience store. It really isn't hard to make good cornbread on the premises, so the fact that they didn't and just offered very poor quality kind of says all you need to know. It was very disappointing. It's not easy to get a restaurant up and running (especially under current economic conditions) and I prefer being generous whenever possible, but my impression is that whoever is in the kitchen is just not a cook, and whoever owns 2Z's is not sampling their own menu. read more

Josh is the owner and smokes the meat using oak; great food; I have eaten BBQ in Texas and Tennessee. His is by far better than what I ate in TX and TN. It is worth a stop for lunch or dinner. I had the pulled pork. Fries were very good also and one order is huge and enough to share. The coleslaw is some of the best I have ever eaten. Oh my! What amazing ribs! I ordered a 6 ribs but was full after 3. I have never had ribs with so much meat. Ate on the back porch right over the Wind River. We will definitely eat here again when we pass through Dubois again. read more

Don't know why this place has such high reviews the best I can say is adequate and overpriced. I ordered two 3 crispy taco platters - a chicken tico and one carne asada, both of which came with rice and pinto bean, 1 beer, and 1 bottle of water, a 20% tip and the bill was $37.12. Sadly, the rice was flavorless, as were the pinto beans - even a small amount of salt would have vastly improved either. The crispy corn taco shells were nice and crispy and the carne asada was tasty. The chicken tico was bland, with canned tomatoes, and if there was any Pico de Gallo I couldn't find it. It wasn't a bad meal, but certainly nothing that I would ever want again. The waitress/cashier was run ragged and the two people in the kitchen were slammed - perhaps that's why there seemed to be no seasonings in the food. A sad excuse for a $35 plus meal even in a tourist location. Please folks, taste the food you're putting out there. read more

I ate there on my stay in Dubois as it was recommended by our hotel. I assume they're related because, I cannot see how anyone in good conscience could recommend this place. I had the St. Louis ribs (6 bones) and they were, without exaggeration, the worst ribs I've ever eaten. And the BBQ sauce was disgusting. Now, I know every region has their own style of BBQ sauce, but if this represents Wyoming, I'll stick with St. Louis or Carolina style. Also, they were out of their cornbread, so they were substituting a small order of fries. Now, if you're going to serve fries, you can do a lot better than frozen "fast food" style fries. We walked in 20 minutes before closing, exhausted from a three hour drive from Yellowstone in complete highway darkness with no real town between there and here. We were greeted with an upbeat, welcoming attitude and an uncomplicated, yet complete, bbq menu that included a veggie burger option (bonus!). The hubby's brisket was very good. My veggie burger was very good. They served a delicious little corn muffin with out-of-this-world honey butter on the side with the entrees. And! Also a bonus! They had cold bottles of beer and single-serves of wine that completely rounded out our weary traveler's end-of-the-day wishes of things we didn't even know we wanted. My wife and I and another couple ate here at 2Zs last week when visiting Dubois. We ordered the 6 rib portion and the brisket plate. Both were delicious and extra smoky .The ribs were fall off the bone but came with too much sauce on them. Next visit I will ask them to put sauce on the side. We ordered the beans and slaw as sides and enjoyed both. The slaw is vinegar forward which we prefer over a sweeter slaw. Plenty of outdoor seating adjacent to a beautiful shady stream. We ordered a 2nd IPA beer for dessert and had a great evening. BTW, this Yelp site needs updating as some reviews are for the previous restaurant. My husband and I had the chicken taco platters at the Lone Burrito on July 17, 2021. The food was delicious and the building it is in looks like logs. They open at 10:00am and close after lunch. Its best to check the days and hours they are open online. We sat inside which was fine. There were no available outdoor tables overlooking the river. We would come here again if we returned to Dubois, Wyoming. We loved the area. read more
