We found this fun shop over the summer and have been back several times. My kids love the soda fountain and today the owner introduced me to his all natural selection of sodas. the hibiscus soda. I love candy stores! It brings me back to my childhood. I was fortunate enough to be with my in-laws and nephews during this visit. The floats looked fun, but way too sugary for me! (And that's saying something!) I was able to pick up some fun gum/mints, Maple Buns (for mom), and a Whatchamacallit. I know you can get some of these at other places, but in a candy store, it's just added motivation to! I loved looking at the novelties and bulk candy they carried. My nephews had stories or fun things to tell me about almost every type of candy. They loved the 5 lb. gummy bear! However, we left without it. They also have spicy crickets and scorpion lollipops if those are your thing. The staff was so nice! One girl said she'd had just about everything they carry so it was fun to ask her about the bugs and other stuff! I love the old school feel and the outdoor counter seating. We stopped by during spring break for a little candy shopping and some ice cream floats. What a fun place to have in Round Rock! They can make you a float in every flavor using Blue Bell Ice Cream and Handmade Sod. Big Boy chose Chocolate Ice Cream in Chocolate Soda.... I don't recommend it but he loved it!. Little One and I shared a classic rootbeer and it was great! I absolutely love this place. Many of you know Your Ol' Pal Shooey has a sweet tooth like a 6 year old. Some of you may know that I have a major thing for root beer flouijats. Well, the fine folks at Sweet Tooth have me covered. An old-timey type penny candy store, with an old school soda fountain, these folks do it right. When you order a soda, you get it the old fashioned way, with carbonated water and syrup (some of them made right there) mixed before your eyes. Top their old-fashioned root beer with a creamy vanilla ice cream, and you have one of the best root beer floats in Central Texas! And for a cool little finishing touch, they garnish the drink with a gummy cherry! While their soda fountain itself is worth the visit, their selection. Of exotic, imported, and classic retro candies make this place a fun and sweet experience. Personally, I love the salt water taffy--among the flavors, maple bacon! Yes! I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the huge assortment of exotic and gourmet soda bottles. All kinds of fun and traditional flavors. I saw a childhood favorite--Sioux City Sarsaparilla. City squares say quaint to me... That's not the experience I had at 3 Star Candy! It's a little run down. The downside is that you can't escape it. You go into these candy shops in the brightly lit malls with their pristine glass encasements, and all the colors, and it's a feast for your eyes. 3 Star is different. It's a little dim, the shelves are overcrowded, it gives you a little unease as to whether things are fresh or not. And then... then you sort of stop, take it in. You spin around and realize that for about a 360 degree view, you're covered. Gummy candy, mallow candy, chocolate candy. Handmade candy, pre-packaged candy... it's candy galore. So what's the problem. ;D While there, I bought about 10 different gummies (an amazing selection!), some of the homemade candy, and my very first Marshmallow Pie! Everything was fantastic. My children are THRILLED any time I bring them to your shop. So, I will most likely be back despite my disappointment yesterday when I asked for tap water and was referred to the bottles of water you have for sale (I was initially informed that tap water would be the same price as the bottles; perhaps I misheard your employee, as this seems ridiculous and frankly insulting after we'd spent over $15 on candy and ice cream, including a 15% tip). While I don't mind the occasional splurge on sweet treats, I do not buy bottled water whenever I can avoid it. Please consider providing a cooler of tap water for your guests. This service seems standard at shops that sell ice cream, and would certainly make your patio spaces, which account for most of your seating, more usable now that the hot days are here. read more

Wandering around Round Rock, looking for new interesting shops and lo and behold ... 3 Star Candy Shop. It's tucked among the restaurants on Main St. and if you blink you might miss it, but pop a u and look again because it's there! Love this place. It has all of the nostalgia candy I love without having to drive down to SoCo, plus the ladies working were so sweet and showed us around. They were fairly busy for a Saturday afternoon, but we learned they had just opened a month or so ago and got the 25 cent tour. Definitely stop here if you're looking for hard to find favorites or retro candy. Haven't tried their soda fountain/ice cream yet but will add that to the list for next trip! read more

We are very happy to have this great little spot in Georgetown, TX. I have been to many other candy stores in areas such as Galveston, McKinny, Fredericksburg, etc and this one compares well. Lots of great stuff to munch on, great sodas, and something not everyone has - a true soda fountain to get hand made drinks! The only other place i've seen that is in Dublin, TX at the old Dr Pepper plant. We visited on a weekday and were the only ones in the store. Elvis was very personable and took time to help us decide what to get then make sure I got it out of the right candy bin. Those chocolates all look the same! My wife bought some sour candies and we went on our way. All our purchases were delicious! The issues are typical of a startup. The signage is small and the bags weren't well marked. Elvis pointed them out for us though, so no big deal. Finally, the location is a block west of the square on the northwest corner of University and Austin Ave. So walk down the street if your looking for a sweet treat!
