An all time debate in Chicago+ across the nation is who does the best burger. It was this year I learned that this place is run+operated by the same people that do the Red Hot ranch burger that some people think is Chicagos best burger. They are cash only with an ATM right outside. I was excited about this because this location is lot closer to where I live compared to north side location of Red Hot ranches. They do one tasty burger. Got a single patty. I also like how they do French fries from actual potatoes you can see them cut with machine. I do my burger without the special sauce.

Menu 4-16-24 includes the RHR Burger!

Had not realized that the Red Hot Ranch burger was also brought to 35th St. Red Hots. Looks like this was introduced to all RHR locations since 2021 and menu and prices are similar to RHR on Ashland. No fish sandwich and no self-serve fountain, but this is a smaller place with still a counter for indoor seating for bad weather. $7.23 (or $8 incl tax) gets you their double cheese with a generous amount of fries. If the weather is good you got two picnic tables up front and two on the side with umbrella shades. They've got ketchup bottles ready to borrow if you're dining inside/outside.

This is the place to go before or after a Sox game. Located just west of the stadium, this typical looking hot dog stand is does dogs and fries right! I went with the double dog with all the fixings and this stands with all the great Chicago spots. The fries were perfectly cooked. The service was nothing to write home about and perhaps a little surly at times. Not taking any stars away as it was busy and well, expected as part of the Chi hot dog experience. Enjoy!

Solid neighborhood hot dog shack. Ordered a polish and a hot dog with everything. Simple, fast and super yummy. After going to college nearby ages ago, I'm disappointed I didn't walk past Comiskey to try it out - but glad I was able to this time.

Great Depression dog, super fries and maybe the best of all, the fried shrimp, delicious. It's a few minutes walk away from the ballpark.

The Polish Sausage they're serving up at Jim's is so much better than any I've had before that it's almost an entirely different thing. It's just so flavorful and delicious. The spicing is phenomenal and the sausage itself is extremely above average. And it's taken over the top by the fresh bun and superb sautéed onions. I joked that we should start every day with one of these sausages, and while we didn't actually do that, I feel like that would've only enhanced our trip.

It's an outdoor only eatery usually long fast moving lines. The smell of the grilled onions hit your nose immediately! I got a polish with onions and mustard and I also got a bone in pork chop sandwich with onions and mustard. And an added bonus FREE FRIES with every order! The polish is still one of my best around nice and juicy (pause) with a nice snap to them. The onions provide a slight sweetness with the tangy bite of the mustard just hits so great!! 8.9/10! The fries were hot, nice crisp on the outside and pillowy inside! 7/10 The Bone in pork chop sandwich was decent nothing special just a Chicago nostalgic sandwich. 6.8/10 Everyone from Chicago has been here and everyone from Chicago will tell you to go here for a real Chicago quick cheap eats experience. The menu is straight to the point and the restaurant itself is pretty small. You'll be standing eating inside or you can go outside where they have tables. The employees are incredibly efficient! The line moves quick and I recommend reviewing the menu ahead of time. For the food, I ordered the Italian beef, French fries and Italian ice. The first bite of the Italian beef was incredible. There was so much flavor and the peppers gave it a great kick. I ended up ordering another one. The fries were fresh and I would get again. The Italian ice was the star as well. It was so good! I can't even put it to words. The whole meal was perfect. I cannot wait to try it again. Thank you so much Johnnie's Beef!

So it was all about the beef and sausage sandwich for me and I will say I found the sausage to be spicier than the peppers themselves which was totally awesome as anything that's hot I'm game for, while it wasn't overly bearing hot it just had a good flavor to it with every component especially the beef itself which honestly I kinda wish I would have only gotten the beef as I just enjoyed it's flavor on that yummy bread with the sweet and the hot peppers! They had a tamale here too and it was ok it was 4 small pieces that were easy to share or had a good corn flavor to it while it was yummy It really reminded me of the ones that you can find on the corner of Rampart & Beverly in LA as the flavor was very similar to me. One of the biggest goodies here was that lemon ice like that was sooo yummy such a good lemon flavor all iced out it really hit the spot for being one of the best lemon ice I've ever had! Overall super yummy little spot doing it right so do yourself a favor and just go to Johnnie's you'll be happy you did!
