This is one of my go to spots being it's local for me. If I need a dog or burger I come here. I will add that I had some shrimp 1/2 pound and they were on point. Keep in mind these dogs are served "Depression Style" with only mustard, onion, relish & sport peppers. Everything comes with some of the best french fries in the city if they cook them long enough! They have great double cheeseburgers made "Red Hot Ranch" style as well as outstanding fried shrimp sold by the 1/2 LB of 1 LB. There's nothing like a Sox's game and a red hots cheeseburger, this place is an absolute delight. As it is walking distance from the White Sox stadium. Their menu is very simple cheeseburger, hot dog, polish all come with fries and now serving fried shrimps. Red hots isn't a big place as it is a walking in order and go, although they have seating area outside the restaurant. The burgers are well seasoned but thin and you can order it chicago style or deluxe ( lettuce and tomato). The fries are the best feature, well seasoned and crispy. The wait time is a little long for the food, because of the crowds but the food is hot and delicious. read more

The RedHotRanch double cheese burger is one of the best in Chicago! The service is friendly and professional. Burger is made to order but they get them out quickly. Found this thanks to Yelp. My son and I were checking out the White Sox stadium and gift shop, Comiskey markers, etc... and stopped by here for lunch. The hot dogs were awesome, with fries ON the dog! Need something quick, good, hot and on the go in this area, this is it! Hot dogs, Red Hot Ranch double cheeseburgers and fresh cut fries are all on point and the highlights for me - seriously delicious!! Prompt, friendly service and food made fresh after you order. Cash only; they have a large parking lot. They also have fried shrimp, which are good; but, I did not care for their dipping sauces. It's a tight interior for customers to wait for their orders, so at busy times during COVID and inclement weather, I would hope that the few customers who have placed their orders get to wait inside while customers who have not yet placed their order have to wait outside and cycle through as orders are fulfilled and customers exit the building. You can order a half pound or full pound so make sure to try it. Staff is friendly. Bring your own hand cleaning wipes as there is no restroom. I always stop here before a Sox game. Good hot dogs, fresh cut fries, and a pop for a good price. Place is usually packed before a game but service is quick. People, you're in Chicago. WE DON'T PUT KETCHUP ON HOT DOGS. They'll make you ring a bell of shame if you order so. Even as a kid I was taught not to order hot dogs with ketchup! Not much to look at, it's located just down the street from Sox park on (you guessed it) 35th Street. Not much of a menu-just hot dog, polish, shrimp, fries. They're also barely open, only on Sox game days it seems. One of the few times I've randomly stopped into a location without researching beforehand, but I was feeling adventurous and decided to try a double dog with fries (ordered them well-done, like most good fries should be cooked), since the price seemed alright. What I got was kind of a shocker to me. I can understand that grease + grease = more tastiness, but throwing the dog and fries in the same paper wrap just puzzles me. I'm not a neurotic or obsessive-compulsive who can't have food items touching, but when bagging food for take-out, one should really consider the logistics of the equation. When I arrived home, I discovered one paper wrap. I worried that they had simply forgotten my fries, but opened the wrapper to discover that they were in there - mangled with the double dog. There were hot dog condiments in my fries and french fry salt all over my hot dog bun. It was disappointing. The double dog itself was average. Nothing spectacular, and it tasted like something I could make at home with a discount package of hot dog buns and dumping a package of dogs in some boiling water. The fries were pretty good, other than being slathered in the mustard, onion and relish from my hot dog. If I ever wind up there again on a long walk and decide another attempt, I'll ask them to wrap them separately. And if they raise an eyebrow or make a stink about it - it'll be the last time I journey inside, wriggling past the guy hocking Sox merchandise practically blocking the entrance. (Oh, and I'm completely aware that it's a hot dog joint, but most hot dog joints have the decency to also make burgers - though I'm not penalizing them for their decision.) read more

Classic Chicago Dog Stand, located just steps from Comiskey Park, this place must be crazy around game time. I've discovered that by avoiding game time, I can exit the expressway, stop in for a two minute dog and continue on my way in an incredibly short span of time. Incredible convenience, just don't veer off of 35th Street, this neighborhood is an amazing maze of cul de sacs and dead ends. They roll the hot dog's and polish's with the French Fries much like Gene & Jude. This makes for a sloppy dog, but I love the package which comes in a number two sack that could practically fit in your shirt pocket. A pretty basic Chicago dog that presents a very good value at three dollars and some change. The Polish is very good, it seemed to provide a crunch with each bite, very nice, a great value at four dollars and fifty cents. The fried shrimp is quite good, best tail less shrimp I've had in quite sometime, these poor devil's lost their tails. French Fries are very important to a quality Chicago Hot Dog Stand, these obviously meet that standard but have much greater potential. I've visited four times, on the first two occasions the French Fries were not quite hot. I will admit that I did lose some time taking photos and carrying out. On the third and fourth stop the fries did meet their potential, nice n' hot, they remind me of the exceptional French Fries from Al's Beef on Taylor Street. When these fries are on, they are some of the best I've had in the city. Operational note: they salt the fries nicely but do not have salt packets. They keep a salt shaker behind the counter just like another outstanding stand on the northside called Red Hot Ranch. This brightly painted stand certainly stands out nicely against the contrasting black and white Sox colors, this has become a regular stop. Especially with the current closing of the Taylor Street / Roosevelt exit preventing me from making another favorite stop at Jim's Original. read more

Its really hard to take these Yelp reviews seriously. Like come on...people giving bad reviews because they say Vienna Beef makes a bad hot dog? Or because they like ketchup on their hot dogs?? Or complaining that they don't have a big enough menu?.... This is a hot dog stand. A Chicago style hot dog stand that serves depression style Vienna Beef hot dogs. You CAN NOT get any better!! This place has a small menu because they execute everything 100%. They even broke off and have other locations up north( Redhot Ranch). The burgers, the fries, the polishes, and even the shrimp...all excellent. Go hit an ATM, grab a $20 and head down there ASAP to get yourself a true taste of Chicago fast food. read more

I work across the street from a heart attack. A cheap one at that. Though I know it is sacrilege to write a review for a hot dog stand without tasting their dogs - I have had their fries and been in the presence of wiener consumers too many times to doubt my assessment. I don't eat fast food much - but this is my exception. They cut their potatoes in front of your eyes in the most intriguing of contraptions. The workers are super friendly and delightful locals. I don't remember there being a polish option, but I'll check on that. They wrap your hot dog and fires togther so that they can now bring you a delightful experience in eating in unity. Wonderful. No-ketchup-on-hotdog militants that put you on blast for ordering a hot dog with ketchup. They have people do the walk of shame by ringing a loud bell on the wall near the register when anybody asks for ketchup on their hog dog. So that's what I had to deal with because my nieces are 10 and under and enjoy ketchup. The whole thing is just silly and tired. Perhaps if the hot dogs were better, I wouldn't find this annoying. But they were lacking. I ordered onions on my dog, yet I didn't taste any. Apparently you have to tell them to go hard on ingredients if you want flavor to accompany these puny dogs. The fries were actually good though. One for the "plus" column. Average and annoying. Two adjectives which result in me thinking you kind of suck. Being right down the street from Cellular Field (and on a game day) this place was pretty full. Still, they were really fast to get our order and get us our food and out the door. The fresh cut fries were tasty and the hotdogs were good too. Prices were reasonable - 2 Double Dogs (including fries) and a coke for $10.75. FYI - if you order a hotdog with just ketchup (Cubby Special) there's a lovely set of bells you've got to ring and then yell 'Go Sox!' The proximity of this hot dog stand to Comiskey is undeniably excellent. I like stopping here for a dog and a drink on my way from Halsted to the stadium for a game. There's also game day parking here for $2 cheaper than the Sox lots, so why not? Warning: they double park cars, so sometimes you have to wait for someone to drive away so you can get your car. Anyway, back to the food. It's good food and cheap, so you can't really go wrong. The menu is really, really small. They pretty much sell hot dogs, fries and Italian ice. If you're looking for beef or anything else complicated, go down the street to O'Malley's. The fries are hand cut right in the shop (you can watch) and they're always served piping hot. There's a few seats available, but it's mostly take and go on game days. If you work across the street at TAMS (which I did for about five months), you'll be here everyday because the pop is cheap and the food is tasty. read more
