Spoke with Jenny the Service Manager who got me fixed right away. The service techs were also HD trained mechanics with a great "Can Do and Do it Right the First time" attitude. They'll be doing more work on my bike. I strongly suggest no matter what brand of bike you have give 395 a call. bought an 890 adventure. at 18k miles had to have the head, cam ECT replaced, now at 20k miles the top end is clattering again. 20,000 miles and the bike is basically worthless. UPDATE: I was contacted by 395 Motorsports and was informed that KTM was taking responsibility for the 790-890 cam issues and they had me bring my bike in to be inspected. Called the parts department at 9:30am to verify that they had a head gasket for my 2015 Husqvarna fe 501 before driving 120 miles from Hawthorne NV to Carson City...The counter person informed that they had six head gaskets in stock...When I showed up 3 hours later the parts employee informed me the person I spoke with earlier was looking at the wrong part and they in fact didn't have the head gasket in stock...so I drove 240 miles round trip and the parts personal didn't even apologize! Moral of the story not all counter personal know a head gasket from a cylinder base gasket. Re training definitely should apply. ***Amended review. One day later the parts manager reached out to me asking "how he could make up for my wasted visit" I replied "get me the head gasket I needed" he then told me "it would be taken care of no charge" the manager showed real honor so I'm changing my review of this establishment....Thanks John read more

This is my first and hopefully last Yelp review. So... I passed Carson City KTM and thought Id stop in to check things out. Ive been planning on buying a KTM 500 but never got to get my hands on one. Shortly after entering the store I met Paul M. I told him that I was just in there to check things out and not a serious buyer which re replied "what would it take to make you leave with a bike". I replied "I'm in between jobs, im just here to get some information". I knew I wouldnt be able to get a loan being unemployed. I HAD excellent credit which I let him know and he talked me into running a SOFT PULL on my credit just so I could take the guessing game out of getting a loan or not. I asked "how many points do you think a soft pull will have on my credit since you do this all the time?" He replied "maybe 2 to five points". So I thought, no big deal, I can afford that. While running the report and cruising around the store, I had the wonderful oppertunity to listening to him and another younger co-worker talk about their private life and the customers in the store, "fuck this, pussies, fuck these broke fucks" ect... But I was like, whatever, their moto bros thats just the lifestyle even though I was interested in a $13000+ bike. So the "SOFT PULL" came back and because I was unemployed, I didnt get approved. Whatever, I wasnt planning to buy a bike anyway, it's fall. After going home, I pulled up my score to see what the effect was and I was hit with -40 points!! That's huge. So I went to my bank and described what happened and the recommended that it was a HARD pull to affect my score that much. Funny thing is, I could have just bought the bike with an Amex right there and then (if I wanted to) but he was all about a loan. Its going to take me years to get my score back to where it was. Some of the worst communication I've ever dealt with. The service manager, Will, doesn't call, doesn't know where the part is, doesn't know what's wrong with it. Sales dept was really good, Paul and Kyle bent over backwards. Eileen in finance was very helpful. Sadly our new Arctic Cat failed at 3 hours, 34 miles. Very disappointed. 2020 Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail limited. Will never purchase anything from them again. Would also advise anyone I know to stay away from this place. Paul is probably the rudest "salesman" I've ever encountered. The second paperwork was signed and the deal was done he become extremely unhelpful and rude. He got to the point of trying to rush me out of the dealership as it was close to closing time. Even prior to the sale closing he had a very "whatever" attitude. I would not have gone through with the sale if the deal wasn't too good to pass up. (which had nothing to do with Paul) Unfortunately for this business, everyone else was pleasant and at least normal. I've never had such a negative experience with someone in the sales/ customer service industry before. Horrible service. Bought a bike from here and had some part put on to it and they were installed incorrectly so when I went to ride it the back breaks were stuck and the break fluid started on fire. We took the bike back and their first thought is that since I'm a girl I didn't know how to ride and that it was my fault... I've been riding since I was 5 and they should have investigated a little more prior to blaming the customer. In additional to all that, they did not provide a manual and said that Ktm was back ordered with printing a manual however there is a checklist in the tool kit that says the manual was included when sold to Carson City Motorsports. They said they will send it to us when they receive it but I'm not holding my breathe that they send it. Very frustrating. read more

I usually do food reviews on yelp, but I wanted to address one of the nasty grams that I read below. First off, I have always been a Honda rider until a few years ago. I bought a couple bikes (KTM) from the shop and my current bike is a 2013 300 XC. I also have some 450x's set up for BAJA. Keith, Kevin and the tech guys set up the bike (300XC) nice and sent out the suspension to Stillwell performance. It is honestly the best bike I have ever owned. The front desk guys do a great job of getting you what you need and helping you source parts and if they don't have it they will find it. To the guy who bought the barn yard sale, there are a couple of things in your story that just don't jive. The main thing is who would buy a barn yard sale and not check the air filter? That is right up there with swinging a leg over the bike. Hopefully you did that. Anyway, I'm sorry that your experience was so terrible. I have yet to experience anything remotely close to what you were discussing and trying to deface through your yelp review. I think he (Service tech) was being kind in telling you 2 weeks, it took them five days to set up my bike with the parts and components and suspension that I wanted. So to go through a barn yard sale and make it Bitchen and rideable it's going to take at least two weeks. Personally I like the extra calls to check simple stuff and follow up to make sure that we are on the same page as what we had discussed. This is known in its simplest form as customer service. They do a great job on the front end (new stuff/proper sourcing of replacement parts) and the back end (service). I would recommend anyone Jonesing for a new bike or a service related need go to Carson Motor Sports. They are really good and solid on service. Be prepared to plan for major service (suspension / motor) to take a little bit of time as they are slammed. Or buy their well stocked parts and handle it on your own. Keep up the good work CMS. Purchased a pair of Sidi boots from them last night for $500. I haven't even had them in my possession for 24 hours and I went to return them after finding them online for about $150-$180 less. They charged me a $50 restocking fee and tried to justify it by saying they'd already ordered another pair. That's interesting to me since they didn't even have the size down for me to try on last night. I'm not at all impressed. Not good business. In fact, that's the complete opposite of great customer service. I would make sure you know exactly what you want, without any bit of doubt, before purchasing from them because they're "restocking fee" is 15%. I guess I should consider myself lucky that I only had to pay a 10% fee instead of 15%. WHATEVER?!? On a more positive note, Alan, the gentlemen that helped us was absolutely wonderful and they are lucky to have him as an employee. read more

Extended road trip with a new KTM that reached a scheduled service interval during the trip. Since I was on the road near Lake Tahoe, I called Carson City Motorsports and they agreed to work me into their schedule the following day despite being extremely busy. The shop opened promptly at 9am and they had my bike ready to go by about 11:30. The employees were cordial and efficient. The charges were reasonable. All-in-all, a good experience. read more

Ended up with Covid - went back yesterday 2/27/21 and asked if they would honor the same price - salesman said yes no problem (Nick). When the final paperwork was presented to us - it showed we were being charged an extra 1500.00 for the items ( as accessories ). Salesman went and got another salesman (Paul) and he sales can't do it - that was then this is now. They lost the sale - we walked out. I usually make few if any negative YELP reviews, but they way I was treated when I brought my 2005 KTM 450 SX in last week was outrageously unprofessional and very hostile by the end. A little background, while doing a roofing job for a friend in Minden, I had just picked up this 450 SX Barn Find in Virginia City Highlands, and I was stoked. It had been sitting for 4 years and had not been started (thank god). I stopped by just to inquire if they were available to show my Barn Find some love while I completed my roofing job. The service guy Steve (the one with the Russian Mob Stars on his elbows), told me they could not do anything for me for two weeks. So I tried to leave with my bike and the filters and fluids to do the work myself, but he sweet talked me into leaving for them to do, again he seemed like a nice guy. I told him the whole back story on the bike, and I told him I wanted "every filter and fluid changed" before starting it, and that I wanted a full safety check on every system and bolt before I rode it. He seemed to understand the situation and the poor condition of the bike, so we unloaded it from my truck. After we unloaded my truck he observed that "bikes tires were over 10 year old original factory tires." And I said, "I know that's what I have been telling you; this bike need to be completely gone through." Again he seems to understand what the bike would need to bring it back to life. Then he insisted I start it right there in the parking lot even though I told him the air filter and oil were bad and over 4 years old. He insisted and since it was already off my truck, I made my second mistake by listened to him. I should have loaded it back up and left. Then when he wrote up my service order he began deleting some of the services that I had told him I absolutely wanted. He began debating me on the Air Filter replacement. He said that we should, ". . .only service it." I told him "No, I want it replaced because it was rotten." He dropped the subject wrote up the order, and he told me he would call me on my cell phone if there were any additional service needs. I told him, I know there will be additional items like chain and sprockets, etc., so no worries just let me know what it needs. The next evening, after riding my 500 EXC in the Pine Nuts, I got home, and there was a message from Steve that there were "more problems with my 450SX than we had discussed, and he wanted to send me a picture, but he wasn't sure if this was my cell number he was calling." I thought WTF? I told him I don't live in Nevada and this was my cell number. Yet no picture! And no VM information on the exact nature of the "new" problem! No way to contact him or the shop 36 hours the shop was closed and also closed next day for Nevada Day. So much for my cheap Barn Find! I was really bummed about my 450. It might be a basket case after all? So I went to see Steve about the new problem at 9 am on Saturday. Steve acted perturbed, "What are you doing here? Why didn't you call me?" I told him, "I couldn't call you because you have been closed until about 5 minutes ago, so I dropped by to talk with you about the new problem with my bike." He showed me a closeup picture of a mouse nest, and just stared at me refusing to speak. I told him, "What is that?" And he said nothing and just stared at me like I am stupid or something. Then I said, " What's going on? What 's the problem?" Steve, said, "It's obvious you need a new air filter a mouse made a nest out of it." "I told you over 3 time to replace the air filter. What are doing calling me like it's a big issue and then not giving me any specific information?" "I don't do that he says; I didn't want to confuse you by leaving a message about the air filter!" Wow! I should have never trusted such an unprofessional, amateur Service Writer with my bike. This rookie made me start the bike and suck all that mouse, house garbage into my engine. What an idiot! Needless-to-say, this situation just go lot worse from there. I got accused of "being cheap and trying to get a free air filter." While try to explain to the Operations Manager Kevin that I didn't like the the poor communication from the shop. I got lectured on why the shop policy is not to leave specific details on voice mail. Now I have received emails from Keith Serpa the owner confirming this policy, "in order to save the shop time." While I was trying to work out the issues, Steve (unknown to me and the Operations Manger) took may 450 from the TECH area, and left it in the parking lot out-of-sight and unattended! Really? When I tried to patch it up with Steve for any shortcomings on my part, so there would not be tension in the future should I need parts, Steve sulked, turned his back, tried to walk away like a school kid, and would not shake my hand and accept my apology until his boss Kevin asked him to. Stores always clean, stock is usually plentiful given the time of year and popularity of the brand. They support the crap out of the local scene which is awesome. And the CCM Parts and Service teams are awesome--everyone I've talked to has been above and beyond helpful with answering questions (even dumb ones) and tracking things down, regardless of making a sale or not. I went 4 stars because I didn't have a lot of luck with the sales team. They were super nice to work with I just couldn't jive with all the added fees. I know they need them to bank for the "lean times" but MSRP climbing as high as it has really makes an added couple grand in fees a tough pill to swallow when you still have to disassemble and grease everything on a freshy. Adding some value would help, if I knew my bike was actually "ready to race" from the floor it would ease the sting, but thats really such a minor gripe. All in all I would recommend CCM to anyone in Carson read more

Very disappointed. My husband was going to put an electric start on my 2015 snowmobile for me for Christmas. He called and talk to the service department and ordered the starter that was needed. They told him it would take a few hours to install and the part was $150. He dropped off my machine and an hour later they called and said it needed more electrical, a new seat, and a new gas tank in order to prevent starter in. This would cost $2400. He told them not to do the work and he would pick up the machine. When he arrived they charged him a $45 restocking fee for the starter. They never once mentioned that it may need additional parts. Very disappointing. We feel taken advantage of. We will not return. read more

I walked in with a problem I thought couldn't be solved, explained my situation to Will and Dave and they called their Mechanic Don over who was immediately able to get the bike in, look at it and even allow me to see and explain to me what was going on. Turned out there was only low coolant and the bike was back out in not even 15 mins. I went to grab my card for payment as i thought it would still be needed, but was so delightfully surprised when it cost me nothing as we did not exceed the time limit. Not only excellent above and beyond service, super time efficiency and money saving service. Steve was the man. I just recently purchased a 2008 KTM 250sx. He was more than helpful. I've never owned my own 2 stroke before, so I wanted to make sure I had the right parts and everything. He got me all set up. Even showed me how to install some of my new parts. Steve also made sure I did it right. He treated me with respect and made me feel welcome. I will be coming back for sure. Some parts guys can speak down to you or make you feel dumb for not knowing what they are talking about. Bait and Switch! We've been looking at a bike on their website all summer long. It was listed with a timbersled for $6,000. We thought the price was really low but called to find out more about it. After a long story, that honestly doesn't all add up, they told us it's $12,000. We told them it's not worth that and we weren't interested but that the website advertises a much lower price. They called us back twice to discuss buying it. Both times I told them it's advertised lower on the website and I should just bring $6,000 in and walk out with it. We have bought gear from them in the past so we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Finally, mid fall they changed the price to what they actually wanted for it, only to change it again mid dec to $7,100. I inquired, thinking there was no way they would falsely advertise the price AGAIN. Low and behold, it's listed at $7,100 but the internet sale manager tells me, the list price is $14,995 but they will sell it for $12,000! I can't do business with a company that ropes in sales with false advertising. There is a reason it's against the law! Sad. After I informed him it was a bait and switch he didn't respond but just changed the price. Bad business! read more
